00:09Today, it's all about the GWM Tank 700, a Chinese luxury SUV that reminds many of the
00:15iconic Mercedes G-Class. You can find the link to read the article in our magazine in the video
00:21description. Chinese vehicles are no longer a rarity on our roads. Brands such as BYD,
00:28MG and NIO have established themselves and new manufacturers are constantly entering the
00:33market with innovative models. One of the largest car manufacturers in China, Great Wall Motor GWM,
00:40also sells models in this country via sub-brands such as Aura and W. With the Tank brand, GWM offers
00:46off-road vehicles and the latest model in this series is the Tank 700, which was introduced as
00:51the new top model in 2023. The Tank 700 H4T is strongly reminiscent of the Mercedes G-Class,
00:58especially with its angular design. The striking similarity is particularly noticeable at the
01:04rear. The attached spare wheel and the narrow LED taillights are clearly inspired by the G-Class.
01:12Design elements such as the hood extensions, the light strip and the roof spoiler also appear to
01:17have been influenced by tuning specialist Mansory. Under the hood, the Tank 700 relies on a powerful
01:24hybrid drive. The 3LV 6-biturbo combined with an electric motor delivers an impressive 523 horsepower
01:32and a maximum torque of 850 newm. This is a clear challenge because the Tank 700 clearly outperforms
01:42the Mercedes G500, which only delivers 422 horsepower. The permanent all-wheel drive ensures optimum
01:51traction, whether on the road or off-road. The Tank 700 shows its luxurious side in the interior.
02:00Highlights include a starry sky reminiscent of Rolls-Royce and GWM promises an interior that can
02:06compete with luxury models in the 7-figure range. This self-confidence is also reflected in the
02:13marketing. The launch edition, limited to 70 units, was a complete success. It was sold out within just
02:2155 seconds. At a price of around €90,000, the Tank 700 is no bargain, but it is significantly
02:29cheaper than a similarly equipped Mercedes G400D, which costs just under €119,000. This strategy seems
02:38to be working for GWM, even though the model is not yet available in Germany. At least not yet.
