00:00Hello and welcome to the tuning blog video, where we introduce you to the Mobilize Duo 80 Evo,
00:11the new fun-filled runabout from Renault subsidiary Mobilize.
00:17Mobilize, a subsidiary of Renault, has set itself the task of making individual transport and
00:22last-mile transport in the city more sustainable. With the two new microcars Duo and Bento,
00:29they are sending out a clear signal and surpassing previous microcars in many areas.
00:35But how does the Mobilize Duo 80 Evo actually drive?
00:39Imagine the Mobilize Duo as a modern development of the Renault Tezzi,
00:43whose production was discontinued about a year ago. The basic concept has remained the same.
00:50Extremely compact dimensions with a length of 2.43 meters, a width of 1.30 meters and a height of 1.6 meters.
00:59With a tiny turning circle of 6.80 meters, it is perfectly suited for the city.
01:07Inside, it offers space for two people sitting one behind the other,
01:10or in the case of the Bento, for a driver, plus a luggage box with a capacity of 649 L.
01:15The drive is of course fully electric and operation couldn't be easier.
01:23Unlock via app, get in, press two buttons, release the mechanical handbrake and you're ready to go.
01:30For beginners aged 15 and over, there is the entry-level version Duo 45 NEO,
01:35which is limited to 45 hours of mileage.
01:37It is intended as an entry-level mobility option for young people with an AM driving license
01:43and competes with the Stellantis Trio Citroen Army, Opel Rock A and Fiat Topolino.
01:49Those who prefer something a little faster can opt for the Duo 80 Evo,
01:53which falls into the Le Class and requires a Class B driving license.
01:57As the name suggests, it can achieve up to 80 hours of mileage.
02:01The design of the Duo is based on a space capsule and immediately attracts everyone's attention.
02:07During our first test drive in Rome,
02:10we felt that the Duo 80 Evo provided excellent motor support in city traffic.
02:14The electric motor with 48-volt technology is located in the rear
02:18and comes from the mild hybrid system of the Renault Austral.
02:21It delivers 7.4 kW, which corresponds to 10 hp,
02:25and briefly reaches a peak of 12 kW or 16 hp.
02:29This allows the Mobilize Duo to accelerate quickly to city speeds and even beyond that,
02:35a certain amount of dynamism is noticeable,
02:37even if this decreases noticeably towards top speed.
02:41The battery weighs 78 kg and is based on nickel-manganese-cobalt technology.
02:47With a capacity of 10.3 kWh,
02:50the same amount as a battery module in the new Renault 5 Edge Electric,
02:54it should enable a range of up to 161 km for the Duo,
02:57given a WLTP consumption of 8.8 kWh per 100 km.
03:03The Bento can achieve a range of up to 149 km.
03:08This is more than sufficient for vehicles of this type
03:11and is also a realistic figure under battery-friendly conditions.
03:16On our test drive across Rome at a pleasant 20 degrees outside temperature,
03:20the range indicator dropped by 39 km after 36 km.
03:26Almost a perfect landing.
03:29The ride through the swarm of micro-scooters,
03:31heavy goods vehicles and everything in between past the Coliseum,
03:35the Svanetic steps and other sights was extremely enjoyable.
03:37Even though the Duo is not a powerhouse and doesn't want to be,
03:43it offers excellent visibility,
03:45partly thanks to the scissor doors, which are transparent at the bottom.
03:51Thanks to its relatively nimble acceleration,
03:53it can easily keep up at traffic lights
03:55and its narrow silhouette allows it to use spaces
03:57that would be too narrow for normal four-wheeled vehicles.
04:00The scissor doors in the Lambo Lecouc also make it possible
04:05to get in and out of tight parking spaces.
04:08The ride is accompanied by an engine noise that increases with speed,
04:12reminiscent of a mixture of a muffled moped exhaust and a vacuum cleaner.
04:18Not unpleasant, but still a little unusual.
04:22The mobilized Duo's suspension is there,
04:24but it quickly reaches its limits on the sometimes quite bumpy roads.
04:30It can therefore jolt and rattle quite a bit.
04:34The rather comfortable front seat is bearable for a while.
04:38However, access to the rear is a bit difficult
04:41and the seat there is short and hard.
04:43The legs inevitably have to be placed to the left and right of the front seat,
04:47which can be adjusted to any length,
04:49which becomes uncomfortable after a short time.
04:52However, given the compact dimensions of the microcar,
04:55there is hardly any other solution.
04:57Charging the Duo and Bento is done leisurely
05:01via a cable hidden under a flap in the front
05:03and plugged into a standard household socket.
05:06According to the manufacturer,
05:08up to 25 additional kilometers can be charged to the battery
05:11in one hour at a charging capacity of 2K.
05:15Charging from 20 to 80% takes 3 hours and 50 minutes.
05:19Anyone who orders a type sway plug can save around 25 minutes at a wall box.
05:27This is absolutely sufficient for the intended areas of use of the French Dwarfs.
05:32The developers of the Duo proudly emphasize
05:35that the tiny cars are equipped with four disc brakes
05:37and two three-point seatbelts with belt force limiters.
05:42There is also an airbag.
05:43This will be a unique selling point in the currently range.
05:49Depending on the equipment,
05:51proper ventilation,
05:52a heated windscreen,
05:53a heated driver's seat and air conditioning are also available.
05:57The latter costs an extra âŹ1,000 in France.
06:02The Duo can be connected to a smartphone
06:04and can be opened and closed via an app
06:06or used by up to six people using a digital key.
06:09The smartphone takes care of the infotainment
06:13and navigation functions.
06:15The Duo is also a recycling champion.
06:19It is made of more than 40% recycled materials
06:22and can be recycled by 95% at the end of its life cycle.
06:26The Duo and Bento will be available to order in Germany
06:29from the beginning of 2025.
06:32However, the prices have not yet been set.
06:35The French market offers a fairly specific indication.
06:37There, the Duo 45 costs from âŹ9,990
06:41and the Duo 80 from âŹ12,500.
06:46The mobilized Duo Evola is a two-door,
06:48compact electric car in the Le-Class with two seats.
06:52It measures 2.43 meters in length,
06:551.30 meters in width
06:57and 1.6 meters in height
06:59with a wheelbase of 1.67 meters.
07:02The storage space amounts to around 300 L.
07:05The drive is provided by an electric motor on the rear axle
07:09with an output of 7.4 K, or 10 horsepower.
07:14The top speed is 80 kilometers per hour.
07:18The acceleration time from 0 to 50 kilometers per hour
07:21is not specified.
07:22The standard consumption according to WLTP
07:24is 8.8 kilowatt hours per 100 kilometers.
07:27The CO2 emissions are of course 0 grams per kilometer.
07:33The price is expected to start at âŹ12,500.
