03:54an opportunity to engage with you guys in a one-on-one way is a great great thing for me

03:57i really do appreciate you tonight let's talk some aew we have both blood and guts and full gear on

04:05the

04:05near distant horizon i should say that they near horizon it's not so distant and we have to get

04:11some things set up for this we've been seeing the emergence of what is now being referred to as the

04:16cut which is the new faction that jay white put together last week we opened the show with a match

04:22between um two tag teams the death riders john moxley and daniel garcia which right away as soon as i

04:29see

04:29two of them i'm like this is not a pairing that i would anticipate them using if you're going into

04:35a tag team match with jay white's crew but that is indeed what you're doing the cut jay white and

04:40david finley are their opponents now if this was supposed to be a very even match maybe even a

04:46pay-per-view level match this would have been mox and claudio that's just my opinion however once i

04:52saw that it was jay white dave finley john moxley and daniel garcia i already knew that we were going

04:57to

04:57see daniel garcia eat the pin which i i really don't enjoy because i think daniel garcia is much

05:02better than that he is somebody who really has done everything you could possibly ask him to do

05:08in aew to keep himself in a relevant position and this just feels like he's being turned into

05:13essentially like another wheeler yuda the guy that you put into a match to take a fall speaking of

05:19ace austin tries to get involved at one point wheeler yuda is the one who blocks him but that

05:24distraction to the referee which i've said this a thousand times i get so frustrated when referees

05:29concern themselves with whatever's going on outside the ring if it's not inside the squared

05:35circle anybody's allowed to do whatever they want outside the ring the referee has no business

05:39checking on them now i get it it's all predetermined and whatnot but that's not what i'm saying when

05:44it comes to psychology it makes the referee look stupid if you want to have a distraction have it

05:49have them up on the ropes hanging on the ropes all that kind of stuff so the referee has to

05:53get

05:53them down because now they're interfering in the match and that leads to clark connor's coming from

05:58behind and we end up getting a pin on daniel garcia because connor's attacks garcia jay white hits his

06:05his move and garcia takes the pin now post match there's obviously going to be a bit of a beat

06:12down

06:12going on and gabe kidd comes out who then gets attacked by juice robinson austin and colton gunn

06:19the sides are not equal at all claudio castagnoli comes out and this is a brawl and the the the

06:28heels

06:29now the cut end up retreating they they take their leave and moxley grabs the microphone and he makes

06:35it very clear at full gear they want anarchy in the arena against the cut and i think it's going

06:41to be a

06:41great match and here's what i really like about it jay white is a premium talent who has not gotten

06:48a

06:48premium opportunity since coming to aew a little bit of buzz when he first started there but not

06:52really a whole lot since and he's had some injury history the last year and a half or so so

06:58this gives

06:58him a chance to get his guys out there in the best spot you could be in which is with

07:03john moxley in

07:04aew there's not many people ahead of moxley in the pecking order so putting his group in there with the

07:09death riders and in all honesty probably giving them a win is a great thing to fully establish this

07:15group from there we get kyle fletcher um he's out there taking on jack perry and here's it's

07:23bittersweet because i obviously i love kyle fletcher he may be the future of the business but now that

07:29jack perry's been back for a while and he's over all the scapegoat nonsense and we're well past um

07:35the cm punk stuff i kind of want jack perry to get back on track and he's been off track

07:40a lot lately

07:41i haven't seen him win anything in any recent memory i don't know where luchasaurus is um and

07:48he just he's he's basically become a lower mid card guy this is somebody who used to be one of

07:53the

07:53pillars of the company now he's a nobody of the company and i'm not trying to be mad at jack

07:58perry

07:58he's not the one who books this stuff this though i'll be honest with you this match was absolute fire

08:04tons of physicality i don't know how jack perry survived this match and kyle fletcher

08:10man that kid can go this was super physical the fans were really into it don callis was on

08:15commentary the whole time at the end of the match we see a turnbuckle brain buster where they totally

08:20missed the buckle the top buckle went to kind of look like it might hit the middle buckle and fletcher

08:25picks up the win i expect that because of what's coming uh mark davis and jake doyle come out they

08:31pick up fletcher they have money to their shoulders fletcher basically calls out will osprey for full gear

08:36for the world championship i love this it gets fletcher out of that tag team scene where he was

08:42with kevin knight gets him back into the world title picture doing stuff that is legitimate there's

08:48obvious tons of history with he and will osprey from the united empire days and aussie open so i

08:54love all of that um i love the match jack perry for even though he took the fall he did

09:01some great

09:01stuff he took some stiff stiff shots great falls you know kyle fletcher took some here and there

09:07so this was really really good stuff top to bottom um we get a video on blood and guts and

09:13not that the

09:14video means all that much but what i thought was really interesting was it was narrated by d malenko

09:18that's not really the job i ever pictured d malenko doing but this was effective it got the match over

09:24um if you're somebody who had never seen a blood and guts match you now understand a lot better what

09:28it is that you're getting into um then we have renee peckett with the new level and there's a

09:33conversation about the texas death match that was proposed uh by swerve strickland for the trios

09:38rematch for the trios championship against brody king uh bandito and hangman adam page and you know

09:45what i found really interesting was the new level making it clear that once they're done wrestling

09:49they like to go home and spend time with the kids and they're doing all this like family lovey

09:55stuff in their speech and then the part that really hit me was when they talked about how

09:59they kind of like brodito they kind of like bandito and brody king they kind of even like hangman page

10:05um it made it feel like their hospitality generosity warm hardness kindness is going to be the wedge

10:14between they and swerve strickland now i obviously completely agree that swerve has to get away from

10:20them at some point but how do you do it you know because swerve seems to be teasing like a

10:24heelish

10:25character the new level obviously going baby face so do you keep them together and have the new level

10:31just go full on heel i don't think so if you have them break away from swerve then realistically you

10:39would think that swerve has to have a partner to face the two of them because i don't see any

10:43other

10:43way for it to make sense so who would that be i don't know maybe a returning keith lee i'm

10:48just

10:48throwing that out there how awesome would that be um but yeah i don't i don't really know where

10:53they're going with this other than it seems pretty obvious that swerve is going to be upset that the

10:58new level um we're being so gracious towards their opponents now brody king ends up coming out hangman

11:04page comes out hangman's cautioning them against the texas death match um and while they're having

11:09this whole interlude between the the four gentlemen um prince nanak comes out on the stage and he's doing

11:15the swerve dance and now we see on the big screen swerve has bandito's mask and bandito is on the

11:23ground and he's beaten down he's a mess and swerve ends up putting the mask back on him and basically

11:29he's just to enhance the the opportunity for this texas death match for the trios championship

11:34this was all really well done also you know gotta give tony khan credit he's been booking some really

11:39good stuff lately some stuff every now and again there'll be a match or two that i'm just not on

11:42board

11:43with but so far tonight i'm really liking all of this and this is heading into where they're going to

11:49be

11:50going head to head with um nxt next week so you really want to build momentum this week and i

11:56think

11:56they achieve that um from there don callis family you know don callis talking about how at full gear

12:04how his guys are going to take the world tag team championship they're going to take the world heavyweight

12:10championship um they're talking about a little bit about adam copeland um and then about darby allen

12:18and josh alexander who were scheduled to face off later that night and um i i i really think

12:25the don callis family is too big but they are doing great stuff if that makes any sense it's hard

12:32sometimes when you have this many people in a faction to really give them all enough screen time

12:36but i actually think they're doing a relatively good job of it as you guys who tune into my show

12:41all the time know i'm a huge brian cage fan i'd like to see him more involved i don't know

12:44if he's

12:45injured or what's going on but he has not been on tv as much as he should be lately um

12:49but yeah we're

12:50going to get darby and josh alexander in the main event for the tbs or tnt championship from there we

12:56get match number three ftr versus motor city machine guns ftr has stokely out there with them

13:02and the match i mean again they these two teams they're never going to have a bad match

13:06machine guns can go with anybody ftr one of the best if not the best tag team of the modern

13:13generation fully committed to tag team wrestling they have they really don't seem like they have

13:18any singles aspirations whatsoever and it's a great thing and it leads to phenomenal tag team matches

13:24this was another one at the end of the match you know we see the machine guns pick up a

13:28quick win

13:29and then after the the match they're offering their handshakes to ftr they now lead the series

13:33two to one over ftr and when they're getting ready to have the handshake prince nana throws uh powder

13:39i said prince nana i apologize stokely uh throws powder in their faces um and then the ftr end up

13:47you know specifically targeting alex shelley's knee and now that they're down two to one it looks like

13:52they're getting desperate they need to pick up some wins here and get themselves back in the number

13:55on contendership and that's gonna be hard to do when they're down in the series we get a backstage

14:00segment with persephone um and brick baker and they're talking with queen aminata about you know

14:06the match coming up and you know look i don't expect queen aminata to beat persephone but you do

14:11have to give them credit they are taking it like a the backstage segment felt more cinematic it really

14:17does help generate interest in the match um i don't suspect persephone's losing then again i'm probably

14:23going to say that all the time because i think persephone might be my favorite wrestler in the

14:27women's division on aew television i don't think she gets anywhere near the credit she deserves and

14:32she gets a lot of credit but not enough to be honest with you um this is going to be

14:36a pretty

14:36good and i thought it was hilarious brit baker was portraying characters i forget what show it was

14:40that she was portraying but i thought that was hilarious as well that she was wrapping some of that in

14:45um from there we get tomaso ciampa coming out he's frustrated he wants to be the national

14:50champion he's calling out andrade he makes it clear that on collision he'll be in st louis taking

14:55on st louis's own matt seidel and as he's cutting his promo one of the most exciting things of the

15:01night took place when the music hit and ilia dragunov came out and got right in shop his face and

15:07this

15:07man the fans went ballistic for this um dragunov was made it clear he's he's not here you know he's

15:14here

15:14to fight he's here to challenge himself and you know you know with ciampa having matt seidel in

15:20st louis for saturday he's like there's nothing stopping us from doing this right now tonight and

15:25unfortunately ciampa leaves the ring he does not want to engage and we're gonna have to wait to

15:30see that match but that's one i think is going to be absolute fire they could both go and they

15:35can

15:35go hard fast and do a whole lot in the ring together i'm very excited about that that matchup we

15:41get another renee segment in the back with the conglomeration they are talking to kyle o'reilly

15:45and roddy strong and whatnot and basically the the challenge is laid down for collision that

15:52any three members of the call of the cut um are able to challenge the conglomeration this saturday

16:02at collision and we get a graphic that comes up on the screen right away where it's going to be

16:07austin and colton gunn and juice robinson taking on the conglomeration it works for me i just i feel

16:13like we're the group is big so i understand trying to give everybody something to do but i don't like

16:19seeing these things fractured where like the conglomeration is in one thing and the death

16:24riders are another thing especially if they're going to be teaming up to help each other at blood

16:28and guts so you know i i wasn't loving everything about this but it wasn't i wasn't frustrated either

16:36i really think the conglomeration needs to be featured more on television because

16:40everybody in the group is fantastic we just we don't get to see them as frequently as we'd like

16:44to uh from there marina shafir taking on rachel armstrong uh john moxley is on commentary this is a

16:52squash match if there ever was one and when it's all over marina shafir is on the mic and she

16:57is

16:58calling out mercedes monet i'm not on this show going to use the verbiage she used uh begins with the

17:04letter p that she calls her uh monet answers the call and she's exchanging that same unpleasant

17:10phrase with uh with shafir and while they're having this back and forth conversation mercedes

17:17gets in the ring and ends up slapping shafir and like the the uf'd up chants were or deafening

17:24after she slapped shafir it is obvious marina shafir is being primed for a major major run here with

17:29mercedes monet i hope it's something they sustain over several months you always have to wonder about

17:34that though because aw is not real great at these long-term stories so i'm not sure where this is

17:37going to go long term um but shafir was made to look fantastic tonight she killed it in the tat

17:43in her

17:43match she looked very strong with mercedes in the ring and this is just it's going to be an absolute

17:48war from there we have clark connors dave finley and ace austin jump john moxley who was on commentary

17:57for shafir's match um it's a three-on-one beatdown till um gabe kid comes out which leads to daniel

18:05garcia wheeler yuda the austin and colton gun and juice robinson like it the whole thing is filling up

18:12and as that's going down here comes claudio castagnoli he's he's on his way to the ring he's

18:17you know it we're this is his blood and guts ready as it's going to get or anarchy in the

18:22arena as it's

18:22going to get and as all this stuff's happening he hits a crazy uh swing and whatnot but he ends

18:28up

18:28getting uh taken down and outside the ring they peel back the protective mats and jway hits a sling

18:35blade on um on claudio and mox just has to watch um they end up stretchering out claudio castagnoli

18:43i don't know what that does for his status for the pay-per-view um but this was a great

18:49way to get heat

18:50on the cut and to really get sympathy for the death riders who aren't really known for getting

18:56a lot of sympathy if we're being completely honest and then we get to the main event darby allen

19:00defending the tnt championship against josh alexander um renee actually says before the match that

19:06darby has to go from here to arena mexico to face echocero from there to new york he's going to

19:12be

19:12running in the new york marathon before he goes on next wednesday to blood and guts and um it's just

19:19the kids schedule i mean he's like on a collision course wanting to die young but that being said

19:25um their match solid stuff um we we barely i thought darby was going to lose the whole match

19:32joss alexander was was booked so strong um darby ends up picking up a flash win right at the very

19:38end

19:38trimperetta rocky romero are out um when they're about to get involved a clown is at ringside who is

19:44revealed to be steven borden and it's great to see him back and doing things getting physical because

19:50you know we had some scare there for that injury at halloween havoc but this was a really good use

19:55of him and hopefully they get back on track i'm not thinking they're going to win the tag titles

19:59anytime soon but they don't have to steven borden is over i just hope they give him a better name

20:04steven is just too much you know just call him steve or or give him some other name or whatever

20:09it is

20:09but steven borden is just a little bit much but all in all i gotta be honest with you there

20:14was

20:14one little tidbit that i wasn't overly thrilled with but beyond that this whole show was fire

20:19great show great setups gaining heat getting characters over i loved everything about this

20:26i hope you did too on a scale one to five stars we're going four and a quarter stars this

20:30was some

20:31really really good television work it really was um even the subtle little things the the inner the

20:37the vignette with dean malenko speaking stuff like that they address so many different things

20:42that tug at the heartstrings great great show again four and a quarter stars that's all the time

20:48we have for this episode check back with us next episode run down the latest wrestling news and
