00:19These two vehicles mark a milestone in automotive history, as they are not only technologically
00:24advanced, but also an impressive demonstration of how electromobility can be implemented in
00:29the MPV segment.
00:33The Alpert and its sister model, the Wellfire, have recently made a significant technological
00:38leap forward.
00:41Both models were completely redesigned last year and now offer a plug-in hybrid drive as
00:45the top variant, which is equipped with a charging cable.
00:51This new system complements the already familiar hybrid drives that have been part of the Alpert
00:55model range since the early 2000s.
00:59With this introduction, Toyota is representing another step forward in the electrification
01:04of its vehicle fleet.
01:07The two minivans, which each offer six seats, are equipped with a lithium-ion battery that
01:12is installed under the vehicle floor to save space.
01:14Toyota claims that this battery will enable an all-electric range of 45 miles, or about 73 kilometers.
01:25However, this figure is based on the WLTC cycle, which is known for delivering more optimistic
01:30figures than the WLTP cycle or EPA tests.
01:34When fast charging at 50 kilowatts, it should take about 38 minutes to charge the battery
01:41to 80%.
01:42However, Toyota remains vague on whether this is based on a 0% charge level or another
01:47starting point such as 20%.
01:49The Alpert and WeFire Payfuls combine a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with electric motors that together
01:57produce 302 horsepower.
02:00The vehicles are equipped with Toyota's E4 system.
02:04This means that they have one electric motor on the front axle and another on the rear axle.
02:09This system provides improved traction and a more agile driving behavior.
02:16The positioning of the battery lowers the vehicle's center of gravity by 35 millimeters,
02:21which further improves stability and handling.
02:26A special highlight is the bidirectional charging capability,
02:29which allows the Allert and WellFire to be used as a mobile power source.
02:33In combination with a full tank and a charged battery, these minivans can provide enough
02:40energy to cover the electricity needs of a household of 10 kilowatt hours per day for half a day.

03:12This makes them more than twice as expensive as the basic models with hybrid drive and front

03:17The global market for plug-in hybrid minivans is currently limited.

03:27the USA or a larger variety in China with models such as the Big GL8 PHV, the Trump GE8 or the Dancer D9.
