00:04Today we're talking about the new 6th generation of the Toyota RER,

00:08which will be launched on the market from 2026 and will attract attention with a more striking design and advanced technology.

00:16Since its introduction in 1994, the Toyota R4 has become a real bestseller.

00:23Over 30 years later and with more than 15 million units sold worldwide.

00:27Of these, around 21.5 million in Europe alone, a new addition of the successful model is now imminent.

00:35The basic format of the popular compact SUV has not changed.

00:39The external dimensions remain unchanged at around 4.6 meters in length.

00:44What has changed significantly, however, is the exterior appearance.

00:48The front section is more angular and upright.

00:51The new V-shaped headlights and the striking honeycomb grille give the RAF a more robust and self-confident appearance.

01:01The strongly accentuated wheel arches at the rear, which give the vehicle a stable, wide stance, are also eye-catching.

01:09A new Toyota logo at the front visibly underlines the model revision.

01:12At the rear, the design remains largely familiar.

01:17However, the taillights have been made narrower and now extend further towards the center of the tailgate.

01:23Their lines continue along the C-pillar and over the rear bumpers to the sill.

01:33The interior of the RH4 has been significantly modernized and digitalized.

01:40Instead of classic instruments, the driver has a digital instrument cluster with a diagonal of 12.3 inches at his disposal.

02:34Toyota Safety Sense has been expanded to include several important functions.

02:41These include a front cross-traffic alert for better visibility at intersections,

02:45an automatic lane change assistant when cruise control is active,

02:48a warning function for rapidly approaching vehicles on motorways,

02:52an improved emergency braking function for optimized collision avoidance,

02:56the so-called advanced park, which enables parking via an app with the driver's seat presence,

03:00and an improved 360-degrees camera with 3D view.

03:07The 2.5L petrol engine with electric assistance is retained for the drivetrain.

03:12However, the plug-in hybrid in particular has been significantly further developed.

03:18The new model is equipped with a 23-kilowatt-hour battery,

03:22which is said to offer a purely electric range of up to 100 kilometers,

03:26around 25 kilometers more than before.

03:29This means that the refier can cover many commuter routes,

03:33everyday journeys and short excursions purely on electricity.

03:36Also new is the fast charging function with up to 50 kilowatts direct current.

03:41This means that the battery can ideally be charged from 10 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes.

03:47Up to 11 kilowatts are possible on the alternating current side.

03:51A new thermal management system improves charging performance and battery temperature control

03:56by automatically switching between the cooling circuits.

03:58The new battery arrangement also lowers the vehicle's center of gravity, thus improving driving dynamics.

04:07A more compact inverter has been integrated into the transaxle unit, saving space and reducing weight.

04:15Improved body rigidity also contributes to better handling.

04:18The plug-in hybrid model is available with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

04:25The all-wheel drive variant delivers an impressive 304 horsepower

04:29and accelerates to 100 kilometers per hour in around 5.8 seconds.

04:34The front-wheel drive version delivers 268 horsepower

04:38and needs around 7.3 seconds to sprint from standstill to 100 kilometers per hour.

04:44The full hybrid drive has also been revised.

04:46Slightly modified components such as the electric motor,

04:50transmission and control unit improve responsiveness.

04:54The output is 183 horsepower for the front-wheel drive model

04:57and 199 horsepower for the all-wheel drive model.

05:02A geo-fencing system is also on board,

05:05which automatically switches to all-electric driving mode

05:07as soon as the vehicle reaches an environmental zone.

05:11Controlled by navigation data and individual driving behavior.
