00:01This is mad.
00:03At a time where young and old have never been further apart...
00:06I'm going the wrong way.
00:08..six young Brits who have never travelled alone before...
00:11Nothing like Wales.
00:12..are being paired up with six pensioners
00:14who thought they would never travel again.
00:16You're my team mate!
00:18..to embark on an epic treasure hunt across Japan.
00:21Oh, yes!
00:22Bloody hell, this is going to be hard.
00:24..in a social experiment to challenge assumptions...
00:27..and prove that age is just a number.
00:31She's a bit too old.
00:32I beg your pardon.
00:33..they'll need to work together as one.
00:36Colin, you're amazing!
00:38..their journey so far has taken them right across the country.
00:41He found a secret door!
00:44..following clues...
00:45..there, I see a pin.
00:46..throwing themselves into the local culture...
00:48Amazing!
00:49..and taking on challenges...
00:51Oh, no, it's an octopus.
00:53..as they get ever closer...
00:55Yay!
00:56..awful house!
00:57..to a life-changing £50,000 cash prize.
01:01Somebody has to go home.
01:02..but of the six teams that started in the competition...
01:05Sorry mate.
01:06..that's it.
01:07..now only four remain.
01:09It's getting very close.
01:10But we're here to win it.
01:11Yeah, that's all we can.
01:13The teams have arrived in Osaka, Japan's third largest city...
01:27..and their last location before the final.
01:30I just love this place.
01:32It seems more sort of out there.
01:35Renowned for its vibrant food scene,
01:37the city is often referred to as the nation's kitchen.
01:41I've not seen a McDonald's though.
01:43I've seen a Taco Bell, so that could be the new food for me.
01:46Tacos?
01:47Taco Bell, yeah.
01:48We're in Japan, mate.
01:49The four remaining teams are all desperate
01:51to secure a place in the final.
01:53I mean, yeah, there's no reason why we can't win, I think.
01:57It's written in the stars, as they say.
02:00Love it.
02:01Love it.
02:02Love your confidence.
02:03Laurence is more optimistic than I am,
02:06but we have consistently scored the lowest number of coins.
02:10So I do have nerves about being so close to the final.
02:14Oh.
02:15Oh, that again.
02:17Oh, no.
02:19In a competition twist,
02:21the teams have a unique chance to win more coins than ever before.
02:25Ten coins is, yeah, it's a big change, isn't it?
02:28More coins brings more pressure
02:30because obviously the other teams can get more coins.
02:33The pair who earn the lowest number of coins will be eliminated.
02:36The remaining pairs will proceed to the final destination
02:39and compete for a prize of up to £50,000.
02:43I can't even imagine to have that in my bank account.
02:46Find the master of canned food.
02:49Food.
02:50What if it's seafood, like tin sardines?
02:52Don't worry about that, don't worry about that.
02:54As well as extra coins on offer.
02:57She's my hat.
02:58What the teams don't yet realise...
03:00That direction?
03:01Over there.
03:02..is that they're all searching for the same pin in the same location...
03:06It doesn't really help us. It's all in Japanese.
03:09..where they'll meet to compete head-to-head for the first time.
03:13Ah, there's a pin.
03:14Panning Speciality Shop and Bar.
03:17Oh, wow.
03:18Mr Kanso is one of the city's most unusual eateries.
03:24A cafe with over 300 tins of food from around the world.
03:29Hello. Thank you.
03:31Unique to Japan, canned food bars give customers an opportunity
03:34to sample some rather peculiar culinary delights.
03:38There's all sorts.
03:40A can of cake.
03:41A can of cake?
03:42You've got lots of funky stuff here, innit?
03:44Like food and drinks and in the shops.
03:47It's nuts, man. It's weird.
03:49There it is!
03:51Oh, my God.
03:53In this challenge, their willingness to try unusual Japanese food...
03:57Hi!
03:59..will be put to the test.
04:01Why are we all together? I don't know.
04:03..as they taste five mystery cans from the shops' shelves...
04:07I'm scared. I don't want to try canned food.
04:09..and try to identify the main ingredient.
04:13Often, when I was growing up, we'd have canned food.
04:16Oh, is that a bear?
04:18I'm not eating a bear.
04:20It's going to be the worst challenge ever.
04:22Fucking shit.
04:23They've not even got no hinds.
04:25I gag very easily.
04:27The most exotic food I've ever tried...
04:29Oh, I'd say bartered fish from the fish shop.
04:32100%.
04:33Because I hate fish.
04:34Because it's covered in barter, you can't really taste the fish too much.
04:37I ate the barter and I left the fish.
04:43The younger team members must overcome their food fears...
04:49..and select what they think is in each can.
04:51Why am I shaking?
04:55Each correct answer will earn them a coin and an advantage over the other teams.
05:00Smells nice.
05:01Smells nice, Rosie. What planet are you on?
05:04Yes, it's nice.
05:06Oh, it's crunchy.
05:08Have to eat it?
05:09Yeah, we do.
05:10I'm having another one.
05:11It's not bad, is it?
05:12What do you think it might be?
05:13I don't know.
05:14Wait, I think it's just that.
05:16Radish.
05:17Radish?
05:18Oh, no.
05:19Why does that look like shit?
05:20Oh!
05:21It smells like cat food.
05:22Are you going to say so?
05:23I don't want to taste it.
05:24Ew, that's wrong.
05:25Mmm.
05:26Tastes like patty.
05:27Crab guts.
05:28Crab guts.
05:29Guts.
05:30Anything and everything you wouldn't put in a tin was inside a tin.
05:32It was absolutely rancid.
05:33It wasn't actually that bad.
05:34The crab innards would have been lovely on a cracker.
05:35Ugh.
05:36Do you have a taste?
05:37Do I want a taste?
05:38Do you want a taste?
05:39Yeah, do you want a taste?
05:40No, no, no, no.
05:41I'm no pussy.
05:43Get it in my cup.
05:48Me being in Japan, I'm not satisfied.
05:49I'm not satisfied with a bite.
05:50You just got a bit of a bite and a bit of a bite.
05:53I'm not satisfied with this.
05:56But then a bit of a bite.
05:57I have to eat something on the outside.
05:58I have to eat something.
05:59I don't wait a bit of a bite.
06:01Me being in Japan, half of the food's all raw, like seafood and the noodles,
06:07it's not like a pot noodle, is it?
06:09But now I am open to try new stuff.
06:15After three cans...
06:16Egg.
06:17..a coin is yet to be scored.
06:20Egg. Egg.
06:21Give it over.
06:22That was disgusting.
06:24And for the youngsters...
06:26Look at that.
06:27..the fourth tin might be the worst yet.
06:31Oh, Barbara!
06:35Try it, stop.
06:36Oh, I can't.
06:39I got a leg stuck in my mouth.
06:43Most of the teams have opted for locusts,
06:46while Rosie and Lawrence have booked the trend and gone for crickets.
06:51Locusts.
06:52Ah, we got that.
06:53Yay!
06:55Meaning they're the only team not to score.
06:58Ooh.
06:59But there's one more can to turn things around.
07:02Oh, my God.
07:04Like, actually disgusting.
07:07That looks like mushroom to me.
07:10I don't think it's going to be that one.
07:11No, no, no.
07:12You know what, it might even be that one.
07:13It's going to be that one.
07:17Eel River.
07:20Val and Aaron were the only pair to correctly pick eel.
07:23Ooh.
07:24Ooh.
07:25Meaning they come out on top with two coins.
07:28Ooh.
07:29Colin and Charlotte and Barbara and Katie have earned one coin,
07:33whilst Rosie and Lawrence...
07:34No coin.
07:36..finish the game with nothing.
07:38that's it for us then yeah it was hard that it was really hard and there's still a chance to get
07:46five coins in the next round so see you later bye it was yeah difficult the nerves are certainly
07:54kicking in now we're getting closer to the end as the only team with no coins rosie and lawrence
08:00now face an uphill battle to secure a place in the final obviously we're at the bottom of the pile
08:06yeah I mean it puts us in a bit of a sticky position yes really yes but there are still
08:12five more coins up for grabs in their individual task here we go so it says go to minnow and look
08:21for a place to set your goals nothing springs to mind with that one I don't know maybe like temple
08:27don't want to go home excuse me I feel like there's so much to see minnow yeah like the way direction
08:34obviously still getting to know Rosie as well okay so I feel really tense going into the next
08:43challenge we have zero coins just got to do what we can really and hope to stay you know how to get
08:48to minnow okay perfect no that's fine thank you please be right here a 40-minute train journey north of
09:00Osaka leads to minnow forest and nestled in its hills lies the katsu oji temple which has stood for over a
09:09thousand years wow look at that oh whoa that's insane hello hello this is the place to promise to
09:21yourself whatever your goal is sometime in the future sooner or later we have to end our lifetime journey so
09:30we cannot waste even a day yes every day okay the temple is covered in thousands of Daruma dolls known
09:40as symbols of good fortune and granted wishes you need to talk to yourself you know you okay what is your
09:49long time goal okay visitors write down their life goals in the hope of manifesting future success and then
09:58you can hang the wooden plate today oh lovely do you are mostly live the life that you wish to lead
10:07what did you write on your own I wrote I wish to find a great love again as good as I had with my
10:15husband hey soft my husband died suddenly six years ago uh broke my heart since then I've gone
10:33everywhere on my own I have been lonely and I do feel that I've got a lot of love to give to somebody
10:40oh totally a hundred percent I can see that I would like to be loved again you're more than love and
10:46worries you for sure definitely I think you're a bit biased but no it's not at all bias it was a very
10:53difficult time I was devastated everything I did was with my husband it must be difficult for sure
11:01like obviously I can't say I've been pretty similar you know but yeah it must be very difficult I haven't
11:09started dating I would love to meet somebody I want company I don't want to sit in the bungalow on my own
11:18but I haven't got the confidence to go and mix with people my generation we didn't go to the pub on our
11:25own we didn't go to dances on our own we went with a partner and I think that's just the way I am
11:31it did take me quite a while to reach the point where I accepted the loss
11:37Rosie spent like most of her life with her husband is touching you know and she kind of says that she
11:43deals with loneliness she's always saying like oh you make me giggle and like we're having a great time
11:47exploring and stuff I'd like to hope her confidence is coming back
11:50come here Rosie it's like being at the park again isn't it I know it's sad because sometimes I don't
11:57recognize myself a hug always helps so if I got through to the next round with Lawrence and that
12:03would do my confidence so much good back in the city centre get into a taxi to have a keynote think one
12:17of these would take us oh there's one car there's a taxi the other three teams are searching for
12:22their pins oh there's a bug on me oh please don't be a baby to guide them to their individual challenges
12:30well it is extremely hot today we'll have to get your fans put up your pants go with the flow and head
12:39to Dotonboru oh we're gonna be on water have you got your swimming costume
12:46running through the heart of the city is the Yodogawa river and with a clue that hints at water
12:56it's got to be around here 80 year old Barbara and 21 year old Katie are boarding a boat towards Dotonboru
13:03three what's your step and despite the 59 year age gap the pair have formed a close bond so far
13:18Barbara is so full of love I feel like I've known her forever I feel like someone's taking care of me
13:25I feel like this really suits you with your little sunglasses on Katie and I get on so very well
13:33she's just a fantastic person I'm so lucky to have you know someone with me like her I think it shocked
13:43me how much Barbara like kind of talked to me and wants me to do well I can't believe how much we care
13:50for each other already to be fair and how quick it's come along growing up I don't really fit in with
13:56anyone I tried to make friends but they weren't my people I kind of went through different groups as
14:03well not just in school outside of school but didn't fit in with any of them I felt lonely and a bit lost
14:10but with Barbara I feel like we're just best mates now I feel as if I've got someone to look out for me
14:17you know oh and you certainly have I know it you certainly have
14:23while they enjoy their newfound friendship the driver's wearing a pin right
14:30they've just realized the challenge might be about the journey rather than the destination I reckon this
14:36is this is the game I think whilst we're on here we need to observe because it could be part of the
14:46task oh I'm absolutely shocking with remembering things back in Mino Forest at the Katsuoji Temple
14:57there's the golden pin Rosie and Lawrence have found their challenge identify the Japanese
15:04inventors and creators who have given their name to a product and who have the products with names
15:09derived from their own oh my word wow in a temple where people manifest their future
15:16success out of 10 Japanese names they must identify five who've been so successful they've become
15:22global brands my heart just fell I thought I don't know any of these and after failing to earn a single
15:32coin in the group challenge the pressure is on oh my word I am feeling a little bit apprehensive
15:40wow I know the Izzy Miyake is like perfume yes that's the only one I know Lawrence and I do work
15:50very well together but we are up against people who have consistently scored five coins so I don't believe it's
15:58it's gonna be easy so should we put the Izzy Miyake one down what yes let's sure put that one there I know definitely a brand that is a brand then we have Akira Kurosawa which doesn't mean anything to me at all no Toyota sounds like Toyota or is it red herring this Sakamoto is ringing a bell and I can't think where it's ringing a bell
16:28oh yes yes yes yeah my heart it will be so so heartbreaking to go home I would be sad for myself obviously but I would be devastated for Lawrence because Lawrence told me that he's not had an easy life and I think he's enjoying it so much
16:49like Toyota I think it's Toyota okay let's put the doll on there I just don't want it to end I want it to go on
16:57Casio watches and calculators and things like that but the spelling is different they change the K for the C and change it take out the H yeah and that would make sense in terms of like Toyota Toyota Casio Casio you know
17:13yeah if we've got it right but then I don't know any other brands like Watanabe or Ken I'm not too sure really
17:21uh that's a car right Honda my mum had a Honda yeah car for sure
17:27I'm happy with at least three or five you want to be sure on all of them all of them yeah you be sure on all of them
17:36it's just the spellings I know it's but other than spellings I think I'm I'm set if you're happy and you think so I just don't want to get it wrong
17:46in the Japanese city of Osaka you've got to keep looking around at everything with 50,000 pounds at stake
18:05I still think it's that way four teams of intergenerational couples we're gonna have to get in that car oh yeah are fighting to stay in the treasure hunt
18:14I think I'm kind of sure on most now if you're happy what else could it be
18:20at Katsuoji Temple Rosie and Lawrence are waiting to find out if they've correctly identified five Japanese
18:29names that are also global brands the nerves are certainly kicking in now we're getting closer to
18:35the end we can see the finish line we just have to get there and after failing to earn any coins in
18:41the group task they're hoping to turn their fortunes around that's strange congratulations on completing
18:50the game to find out if you have been successful please check for coins beneath the smaller the rumor
18:55dolls under the names you have selected that's amazing yes we were so sure yeah isn't it so I'd be
19:14really shocked if we're wrong yes I see a coin yes well that's four right okay so it's literally on
19:23this last one Rosie yes we've got five man that's our first time getting five right that's the first
19:33time getting five goodness we did it Rosie and Lawrence are now back in contention with five coins it's the
19:41best chance we could possibly get yeah exactly and we've managed to get them all right we've got
19:46all five but they'll have to wait until the coin count to know if it's enough to get through to the
19:51final it would mean so much to me to make it to the final mostly for Lawrence five we were to win I
20:03think it would just be so wonderful for him and give him so many chances in life that he perhaps hasn't
20:10had up to yet so relieved at that Lawrence that was dope yes back in the city oh look at the size of
20:22that Apple Katie and Barbara are trying to focus on the sites lining the Yodogawa River right
20:28concentrate Barbara if they want to secure a place in the final they need to remember as many of the
20:35sites as they can everything looks the same do you not think I do but look at the size of it
20:41against the modern buildings this one is so traditional so now look at this
20:48do you reckon they've got Tetley I've been trying to take it all in but it's just a whole lot of buildings
20:57who's that geezer the pair have arrived at Dotonburi Osaka's canal side entertainment district this is what
21:07was on our plan and the destination of their challenge thank you from your boat trip can
21:17you identify which of these images are from Osaka for every correctly identified photo
21:24you will win a coin oh the photo shops is on it what you mean by that they've put our faces on
21:32that the team now need to use their combined memories to select five photos they think show landmarks from
21:39their boat ride our photos from Osaka our photos from other trips but some of the landmarks aren't even in
21:48Japan have a good look it's a difficult one this is this is quite odd north of the Yodogawa river 71 year old Val and 18 year old Aaron are waiting for their next clue
22:07and after winning two coins in the group task they've got a head start on their rivals
22:20how do you think it's going to be when we get back home oh I don't know obviously the council are giving
22:27me a house all right okay so you're going to be moving on to living on your own then yeah so like
22:34it's a big big step isn't it being 18 and all of that it will be a bit hard at the start I can relate to
22:40that you know quite a lot yeah leaving home I left home when I was 18 as well had a big bust up with my dad
22:47back home I do have to worry about quite a lot of stuff about six years ago I found out my dad weren't
22:57my real dad and from that me and my mom didn't like I didn't have like the greatest like relationship
23:05from there ended up being in the care system was a little troublemaker and I did bad stuff the best
23:14thing is really is not to let your past define you you know you just get on do what you want to do
23:21throw yourself into it being out in Japan has made me feel like there's a lot more out here instead of
23:29being in the UK I feel like I can reflect on myself and I can be a child again I feel like I needed a
23:41little break so this experience I think it's helped me there's a lot in Japan what I never knew about and
23:50I think it's wicked this has been a new adventure from both of us I mean yeah so like you know adventure
23:59gives you a chance to try something different do something different yeah I think it's a really
24:05important time for him it's a real time of change and so to be here in Japan has never done anything
24:12like this before I think it will help him oh there you go head to tamba look for the place where cows
24:23live like kings cows live like me oh so what should we do what could it be though yeah what could it
24:31be are we going to be farmers it could be it could be milking cows
24:36back on the Yodogawa River Barbara and Katie need to use their combined memories to select five photos
24:50that show landmarks from their boat ride right process of elimination but some of the landmarks
24:58aren't even in Japan oh that's the castle yeah look that there there's that tea room yeah that's on the
25:07boat definitely she's a bright kid really bright we work together well that's here that's here yeah yeah
25:16definitely the panda yeah definitely I don't want to feel as I'm patronizing her or anything like that
25:24that's here that's a soccer but it's sort of instinctive in me that I want to win badly for her in that London
25:36no no listen there's a wheel here I think that's a London eye I'm not gonna lie to you okay so
25:44that is oh I think somehow that's here I've definitely seen isn't that Liverpool but Albert
25:55Docks come on now Katie be serious now no I am being serious I don't think that's in Japan
26:02I've seen that somewhere in the Albert Docks was it yeah and we got and I swear that one's London okay
26:10love okay right let's put the certain ones in darling yeah I think so that would only leave one
26:20more for this side I'm sure I said look at that and I pointed it out I'm sure do you want to go for
26:27this one I think so let's put that there which would be our five I don't even remember seeing that many trees
26:36my darling I don't know you want to go for this one I don't know must I feel bad if we lose it we're
26:45doing this together you're not letting us down I'm agreeing to this term everybody
26:50you ready yep final answer in the Japanese city of Osaka four teams are taking on challenges
27:09that challenge rank on it oh to try and win a life-changing cash prize of 50,000 pounds
27:16now turn it back on the Yodogawa River Barbara and Katie are about to find out how many coins they've
27:25scored in their task you want to go for this one they've selected five photos they think show
27:32landmarks they've seen on their boat ride but there's one photo the pair are unsure about I think
27:39that's from the boat is it possibly not definitely although Barbara thinks it's in Osaka yeah
27:46yeah that's Osaka I want to win for Katie because I've had a charmed life I love sincere there Katie
27:56hasn't and this could be life-changing for her I'm very nervous now I'd absolutely love 50 grand it
28:04helped me make my life so much better all right yeah okay
28:11this is Osaka this is Osaka castle so obviously Osaka the panda this thing's Osaka as well and this one is Osaka and this one is not Osaka
28:30the photo the pair struggled the most to identify was in fact in London's Battersea Park I'm so sorry no that's fine we've got four
28:40it was summer don't say sorry we've got four you're allowed to get things wrong
28:49four out of five it's pretty good I suppose it's more than a pretty good thank you thank you well let's
28:59put these winning coins in the face come on combined with their coin from the group
29:07challenge Barbara and Katie now have five coins out of a possible ten I just feel now a
29:15a little bit negative but with two other teams still to take on their challenges they've no idea if
29:22it's enough to see them through to the final on the other side of the city everywhere we visited in
29:30Japan people are on bikes having earned just one coin in the canned food group challenge Colin and
29:39Charlotte are hunting for their individual task head to Shakudo where the writings on the wall could be just
29:46random right dinner that's probably some local graffiti artist it could be are we so blind I don't know she
29:55right in front of us their clue has led them to a calligraphy studio where they'll learn about one of
30:05Japan's most enduring traditions it's beautiful calligraphy but it looks difficult calligraphy
30:11calligraphy calligraphy calligraphy is our painting it's writing letters words dating back to the sixth
30:22century Japanese calligraphy often uses ancient proverbs inspired by positive affirmations and moral
30:30teachings for future generations so I'll show you a couple of problems in Japanese this is gold coins
30:39for cat which means wasting good things on those who won't appreciate it oh yeah don't waste your time
30:49doing something that's not going to be necessary or mm-hmm there's no reason for it what you've been
30:55teaching me isn't it it is yeah my parents would definitely say that I'm like thicker shit hundred
31:00percent they're just like having a laugh but um I'm not smart if you get what I mean I'm not academic
31:09but like Colin is so wise he's amazing he's got all these things to teach me so thank God for that
31:16otherwise we would be in trouble this means even though you fall down seven times you get up eight
31:25times so never give up oh cute a lot of positive vibes it's what everybody needs
31:33Colin and Charlotte now have a chance to add to their single coin from the group tusk
31:41can you identify five Japanese proverbs hanging before you each proverb they correctly identify
31:49will earn them a coin but they'll need to watch out as some of the sayings are in fact song lyrics
31:55what difficult call
31:5750 miles northwest of Osaka in the farming town of Tanba
32:05oh okay wow Val and Aaron have tracked down their challenge on a Kobe beef farm is in the size of it I think it's a normal size of a cow in it so this is where they live like kings is it oh look there's a baby cow let's go to the next party Kobe is a type of Wagyu beef highly prized for its exceptional
32:31flavor tenderness and marbling oh yeah my happy place hey now they'll get a crash course on what makes
32:39it so special Kobe beef needs to be a grade that comes down to marbling which is the main feature of
32:47top Kobe beef yeah we have five different cuts of steak ranging from A1 it's cheaper to A5
32:58obviously your A5 cut is much more expensive than all the other grades that come before it and this comes
33:07down to marbling take a close look oh yeah you can see the intramuscular fat yes it's like clouds right
33:13so as a result it's very buttery melts in your mouth it's delicious gorgeous isn't it yep we're gonna
33:20be serving these for lunch so uh oh yeah oh fabulous very heavy oh I'll destroy it me to be in with a
33:29chance of getting to the final Val and Aaron must work together and use what they've just learned to
33:35identify the five grades of Kobe beef on today's lunch menu get five and get fat all you're thinking
33:41about is your belly yeah I am I am pretty hungry oh I'm excited I think we can smash this
33:50back at the calligraphy studio well when are we gonna go for first Colin and Charlotte need to identify
34:01which boards are Japanese proverbs and which are lines from well-known songs mm-hmm each correct answer
34:10will earn them a coin how many roads must a man walk down before you call him a man that's
34:18it yeah one we want to get rid of his memory is like crazy I've never met anyone like him my entire
34:27life honestly you remember things like that that's a music lyric don't carry the world up on your shoulders
34:33so from a Beatles song that's a song yeah it can go that is probably in a song yeah it won't be a
34:43proverb star directly at the song no we'll get rid of that when you believe in things you don't
34:51understand then you suffer could be a proverb but proverbs encourage belief oh yeah it's a bit tricky that
35:00that one save your tears for another day that's a song is it yes Colin and Charlotte have removed
35:09four boards they think contain song lyrics now they have one final proverb to pick so it's one of these
35:15four time flies like an arrow I think that's more likely to be a proverb yeah and there's no use scrunching
35:22up your buttocks after your fart if that sounds like a proverb yeah the winds of tomorrow will blow
35:29tomorrow there's no medicine for falling in love after these two which one of those can you imagine being
35:37in a song as a lyric I did think that one but the more I look at it I think it's there's no medicine
35:46for falling in love agreed yeah confident we'll lock them in back in the farming district of tanba
35:56Val and Aaron are about to tuck into a selection of different grades of Kobe beef in an attempt to grade
36:05them from cheapest to most expensive I'm gonna just whack this one straight on so I know I want to come
36:13on oh that's good yeah I love this game oh yes I'm liking this one this is a lot better than the game we had
36:32before absolutely it's gorgeous when I first saw Val I was like oh she's just a stranger I'm not gonna
36:38get on with her that's some good stuff you can have another piece why not eh but now I think me
36:50and Val are like a really strong team we've gone into the challenges with a positive mindset and we
36:57smash it I'm in heaven I've never had Kobe beef before but there's something about that beef that
37:05you could eat it every day with bellies full it's time to rank the plates of beef from least to most
37:12expensive okay but have they remembered their lesson or have they been too focused on feasting
37:19we think this is the the least expensive number four number one is a hundred percent the second yeah the
37:29second lowest yeah well see I think number two it's the third expensive and we think number three
37:37three is the most expensive that is definitely the most expensive undoubtedly I think we can lock in
37:45you know what I'm sure now I have doubts now whether number four is the cheapest yeah it was to do
38:03with how the fat is in the vein of the meat so the less fat you have in the vein the cheaper it is
38:10I'm saying still that's the cheapest okay I think we could lock in I'm not ready it was really hard
38:20the cheapest meat is going to be the toughest piece that we eat that means it has no I think number four's
38:27the cheapest though based on what in my gob okay well we clearly have a different palette all right
38:36um change it yeah okay change it now don't get me wrong I could be wrong want to do well for him
38:46but also for myself so I don't want to see this adventure of a lifetime come to an end lock in we've
38:52locked in yes of the four couples who remain in the treasure hunt across Japan that's the first
39:09time get five we did it two have completed their individual challenges let's put these winning coins
39:15in the face so the outcome of Colin and Charlotte's game you're confident with this yes and Val and
39:22Aaron's challenge I can't bear to look will determine who stays in Japan aim for the prize Val and Aaron
39:29have graded the quality of five pieces of beef from the highest to the lowest oh god I'm feeling
39:37anxious hoping to build on the two coins they already have they'll earn one coin for each correct answer
39:43all right all right let me reveal the results come on oh my god I could just get it done just do it
39:51is that all we got just one coin one coin one coin oh no
40:06so unfortunately you guys swapped it at the last minute oh I knew we shouldn't change that one I knew
40:18I knew we shouldn't change it I can't believe it I wasn't expecting that you know we swapped it at the last
40:29minute so I do feel I don't feel bad about that I'll say not the result what we wanted it was more bothered
40:36about eating the food well yeah I'm pissed off I'm sorry don't be don't be don't be sorry we're team
40:48oh I'd like to be able to go through the final game and to be able to win it but right now right
40:59in this moment I'm not feeling positive combined with the two they won in the group challenge they
41:09now have just three coins hoping for better results in their challenge well we've got five
41:20I think we've done it quite well Colin and Charlotte have chosen five boards they think are Japanese
41:27sayings let's find out how you did yes yes but do they know their proverbs from their pop one man's
41:37fold is another lesson yeah this is the proverbs so correct yeah thank you thank you when you
41:50believe in things you don't understand then you suffer no no it's Stevie wonders is it no way time flies
42:02like an arrow for Bob correct thank you the winds of tomorrow will blow tomorrow correct yeah we knew
42:14that one was in the way thank you there's no use scrunching up your buttocks after you fought it
42:23great great so silly thank you congratulations we got four it was good it was amazing happy with
42:35four we did well and without one from this morning that gives us five yeah I don't think Rosie and
42:42Lawrence would have got all five they'd have to get all five just just to be equal just to equal us
42:48all of the teams will now come together to find out who has earned the lowest number of coins
42:57you ready yeah and will be eliminated from the competition we are ready we've got this come on
43:03then so we got one for the cans and then our game yesterday we got one two three oh total of five
43:15I feel like we've all not been consistent with our coin so anyone could be eliminated at this point
43:21next to show their hand are Val and Aaron hello hi guys oh you've done well well depends what we use
43:30they've done well here we go obviously we got two from the can eating yeah we got one one yeah it was a
43:41eating competition you lost on a food challenge well yeah we see what yeah well I'm a little bit more
43:50relaxed to be honest but sorry as I get closer it's like the pressure builds I know the team that scored
43:57no coins in the group challenge are up next hi hello guys so we've got one and then we've got two
44:07there's three I had a roll four
44:16the final pair to reveal their coins are Colin and Charlotte it's gonna be sad if we leave this
44:33adventure I don't want to go home how did you do time to show yeah yeah in the first one we
44:46got one the next one we got one so quickly three five and a three I use okay I'm okay you're okay
45:16yeah yeah I'm not fine well I'm okay oh ding ding Val and Aaron you have the lowest number of coins
45:25please say goodbye to your fellow travelers this is where your adventure ends we've had a lot of laughs
45:35haven't we we have yeah a lot of laughs so it's been good it's sad that we're going now but I think I've
45:43gained so much from the experience you know it's been amazing I've met Aaron let me hug you first I think we
45:50have gained tremendously I have seen you grown I think it's life-changing for me I feel like being
45:59with you have matured a lot although we may not go home with the cash but I'm going home with something
46:06much more than what money could buy me goodbye guys I appreciate you yeah oh thank you sweetie
46:14may the best bear win right there's three of us left now guys I guess it's game one and like one of us
46:23is going to be going home a lucky winner I can't believe it because I never thought we'd get well
46:28were we this far right we've done it we've made it next time the competition gets even tougher we
46:38don't get that right we're eliminated as the teams head to the final it's the first time that I've not
46:44felt confident but only one pair will leave Japan it's mud it's mud with a life-changing 50,000 pound cash
