00:00There are thousands of foreign national offenders in our prisons that we could be deporting
00:04to free up prison space and absolutely we will ensure that we build the prison spaces
00:08that are necessary. But I want to be really clear to people, there are other measures that the
00:14government can use to let people out of prison when prison is under pressure. This government's
00:19used them, other governments have used them in the past and they typically exclude sex offenders
00:23just like Kabartu and others like him and other serious violent offenders. The measures that the
00:29government are putting through today don't have those same exclusions and very many serious
00:34violent and sexual offenders will be out of prison earlier. I think that's a betrayal
00:38and a disgrace and not something that victims want to see.
