Justice Secretary Alex Norris asks prison officers for time to "get the implementation of this policy right." It comes as the Prime Minister has announced a "pause" in the early release of prisoners in England.

00:00You know, we are well aware and we know just how important a job our prison officers do,
00:04how difficult that environment would be. You know, we would never want to make their lives harder.
00:08It's already a hard job. They would recognise too that, you know, they want to do well by victims
00:13and survivors. That's what they do too. That's why we're making this pause. You know, we appreciate
00:18the speed that we need to get on with this, but I just ask them for a little bit of
00:21time to make
00:22sure we get the implementation of this policy right.
