00:00The Justice Secretary is failing to protect the public.
00:02To govern is to choose.
00:04And today she's chosen to release early criminals
00:07who've re-offended or breached their licenses.
00:11There are other choices she could have made.
00:13She could have brought forward emergency measures
00:15to tackle the 10,000 foreign criminals who are in our prisons,
00:19and we would have supported her.
00:21She could have brought forward emergency measures
00:22to get our courts sitting seven days a week
00:25and tackle the 17,000 people who are in our prisons
00:29awaiting a trial, and we would have supported her.
00:32Frankly, we would support her tomorrow if she did that.
00:35But instead, she chose to reduce the sentences of criminals
00:40who have re-offended or breached their licenses.
00:43That's putting the public at risk.
00:45We know already the consequences because we've been here before.
00:49The last time she released prisoners early,
00:51someone was killed the very same day.
