00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Low pressure dominates our weather through this week, with strong winds from time to time, rain or showers.
00:11The air remains cold through the next few days across Scotland and Northern Ireland,
00:15and this slow-moving area of low pressure brings rain or showers.
00:19And in further south we'll see a band of rain just extending across central and southern areas of England and Wales.
00:24Through Wednesday night into Thursday, the air becomes quiet, a chance of a touch of frost before all change again through Thursday.
00:32After a bright, stark, thickening cloud brings outbreaks of rain.
00:35Winds will pick up to gale force as that rain extends northwards as well as eastwards.
00:40Temperatures recovering a little bit even, so some wet weather with further showers to follow.
00:45For the time being, that strong wind delivers showers across Northern Ireland, much of Scotland and the north-west of England,
00:51and some more persistent rain across the far north of Scotland.
00:53At the same time, this band of rain extends across Wales, eventually the Midlands seeing some wet weather,
01:00and it will push southwards into the early hours of the morning across the west country before it reaches Lincolnshire as well as East Anglia.
01:07In between, some clearer skies, certainly for central and eastern areas of Northern Ireland.
01:11Northern England, a few showers, but even so, it will turn chilly, and chilly across the glens of Scotland,
01:16where temperatures could dip close to freezing with a lighter breeze in shelter.
01:20So, first thing then, tomorrow morning.
01:23Well, for some, we'll see some brighter weather.
01:25Northern Ireland, northern England, the far south of Scotland.
01:29Showery bursts of rain continue from the beginning of the day,
01:32extending northwards with the low pressure centred across the western side of Scotland.
01:37At the same time, this band of rain clears the Midlands, the west country, through the morning into the afternoon.
01:41We hang on to that wet weather, though, across the far south east, so some brighter skies to end the day,
01:45as showers extend down towards northern England, obviously affecting Scotland throughout the day,
01:50with that low pressure centred across central parts.
01:53Temperatures then, probably 10 to 12 degrees Celsius.
01:56The winds will remain strong, though, through Wednesday evening across the north and west of Scotland.
02:01Clearer skies then emerge across much of England and Wales.
02:04It's going to turn colder, with a touch of frost in places, some starry skies,
02:08but still those showers filing in across the far north of Scotland.
02:11A bit of a breeze here.
02:13However, into Thursday morning, after a bright and cold start,
02:17the cloud moves in, outbreaks of rain by around lunchtime for Northern Ireland.
02:21Wales, showery bursts further south-west.
02:23Notice some brighter weather through the afternoon across central and eastern areas of Scotland.
02:28East encounters of England, but that sunshine turning rather hazy,
02:30as those winds pick up across Irish seacoast, the North Channel.
02:34And then through the afternoon, it turns wet and windy across the far north,
02:37with some showery bursts further south and south-east.
02:40Friday into the weekend, it's more of the same.
02:43So that first low clears off the scene.
02:45Another one just moves in, not as deep, but even so, there will be some showery bursts,
02:50allowing for some wet weather before we see another bank of cloud and rain through Saturday night and into Sunday.
02:56So the weather remains mobile.
02:57Now for a deep dive into our weather and also what's happening across the Caribbean with Hurricane Melissa,
03:03check out our deep dive this week.
03:05It's with Honour, and I'll see you again soon.
