Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday evening weather update from the Met Office. A lot
00:04
of cloud generally through the next few days. High pressure, waxes and wanes always centred
00:09
across England and Wales. But through the next 24 hours, we'll see more of a breeze
00:12
come in across Scotland, the far north of England, as well as Northern Ireland. And
00:16
it will turn gusty over the Highlands, the Southern Uplands, as well as the North Pennines.
00:21
This weather front here through Thursday brings more cloud to the far north and some outbreaks
00:25
of rain. But elsewhere through this evening, it's quiet. The clouds will just come and
00:30
go. We could see some clearer skies down towards the south mid Wales as well. And that's where
00:34
the lowest temperatures will be, as well as the north east of Scotland. Again, temperatures
00:38
dipping down to around six to eight degrees Celsius here. But where you see clearer skies
00:43
and lighter wind, expect some mist and fog patches to form through the early hours of
00:47
the morning. At the same time, this wind will bring with it cloud and also some patchy rain
00:52
and drizzle, particularly on the upslopes of the North West Highlands and coastal districts.
00:56
This wind will be a feature of the weather through Thursday across the north. But the
01:00
south is a quiet start today. It's chilly in places and there'll be lots of low cloud
01:05
and mist and fog, which will lift and break up at times. So damp across western Scotland,
01:12
some rain across Shetland and this wind coming in from the southwest. And as it hops over
01:17
the Highlands, that's when we'll see a little bit of turbulence. Hence the reason why it
01:20
could turn a rather gusty similar situation further south. Now, through the afternoon,
01:25
you can see a few breaks coming through favoured spots, allowing for some brighter weather.
01:29
At the same time, this rain continues just a creep in across Orkney and it remains damp
01:35
across Caithness, Ross and Cromarty, as well as the Western Isles down towards Argyll and
01:40
Bute. Temperatures here 14 degrees Celsius. You could see a 16 across central and southern
01:44
parts of England and Wales. That's Thursday through Friday. This weather front here could
01:50
be heavy at times in terms of rain before it weakens, dragging in some colder air for
01:54
a time, particularly across northern northeastern areas of Scotland. But you lose those cold
01:59
winds and eventually the air will turn a little bit more mild. But through Thursday evening,
02:04
you can see where this weather front is. Some heavier bursts and some really gusty winds
02:08
associated with it. Elsewhere, yet again, temperatures will drop under some clearer
02:12
skies across England and Wales. And again, some mists and fog patches can't be ruled
02:16
out as the weather turns damp towards the central belt as we head through the early
02:20
hours of the morning, as well as the northern part of Northern Ireland. Through Thursday,
02:24
this rain does sink its way southwards. In its wake, we'll see strong, cold northerly
02:29
winds. You'll notice that it's going to feel very cold across Shetland, Orkney and Caithness.
02:33
And this rain will keep temperatures slightly high across the central belt as well as southern
02:37
areas. Towards the south, there'll be just a fair amount of clouds and also some broken
02:42
clouds, allowing for some bright skies. And that's how we see Saturday. A lighter wind
02:45
and generally temperatures around 11 to 14 degrees Celsius. Similar situation on Sunday.
02:50
I'll see you later.
