00:09Two charged after ÂŁ100,000 of illegal fireworks recovered from West Lothian business.
00:16Two men have been charged after police recovered 200kg of potentially dangerous fireworks.
00:22From a storage unit in West Lothian, police have seized 200kg of fireworks from an East Calder storage unit
00:28and arrested two men as officers seek to tackle disorder ahead of bonfire night.
00:34The force said that inquiries suggest the seized fireworks were intended to be used for disorder and violence.
00:40The two men, aged 18 and 25, were arrested and charged as part of inquiries, intelligence-led searches
00:45that were carried out at properties in West Granton Road, West Pilton Leigh, West Pilton Street, West Pilton Place and Buckland Place.
00:52The 18-year-old was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday 24th October
00:58and the 25-year-old is scheduled to appear on Monday 27th October.
01:04Detective Inspector Stephen Dick from Edinburgh Division CID said,
01:08Our inquiries suggest the large quantity of fireworks seized was intended to be used for disorder and violence over the coming weeks.
01:16We know the significant impact the criminal use of fireworks has had on communities, vital services and emergency workers during the last few years
01:22and this will not be tolerated.
01:27Three teenagers have been charged following a number of racially aggravated assaults in Edinburgh this month.
01:35A 15-year-old boy and two girls aged 13 and 14 were charged in connection with five unprovoked racially aggravated assaults
01:43and a three further unprovoked assaults.
01:46All the reported incident happened in the Fountain Bridge and Meadows areas of the city on Monday October 6th.
