00:00I think the writing was on the wall here at the winter meetings yesterday that Pete Alonzo's tenure with the Mets was probably over.
00:07That kind of became evident after Edwin Diaz agreed to terms with the Dodgers that David Stearns was all in on a teardown here.
00:20Obviously, he's looking to do things his way going into his third season, heading the Mets front office, and he wasn't going to be beholden to the team's veteran popular player.
00:36So now in the span of a few weeks, Brandon Nimmo has departed in the trade. Pete Alonzo today agreed to a five-year, $155 million contract with the Orioles and Edwin Diaz yesterday.
00:54Major holes that the Mets must plug in addition to the ones we knew about for sure when these winter meetings began, mainly in the starting rotation.
01:10So a lot of work here for Stearns to do. I'm sure there's a plan in there somewhere that isn't evident yet,
01:18but the Mets have, you know, you look at first base and corner outfield position are two major lineup spots that they're going to have to address,
01:30and you have to think another bullpen arm and more rotation help, and, you know, center field, I guess, you know, is kind of a back burner thing
01:43because they do have two players that can play there right now in Tyrone Taylor and potentially Carson Benj.
01:51But, yeah, it's kind of a shock and awe winter meetings here in Orlando.
