00:00Buck, why don't we jump into it?
00:02You know, we reached out to you on a September 9th broadcast.
00:07I'll read what you said.
00:09You said the Yankees, they're not a good team.
00:11I don't care what their record is.
00:13They have a lot of wild pitches.
00:15They make a lot of mistakes in the field.
00:17They don't run the bases very well.
00:20It came and went, but then Aaron Boone decided to see if he could give it CPR
00:24before game one and said, contrary to some thoughts up here,
00:29we're a really good team.
00:31Buck, it's your forum.
00:34Go.
00:35Yeah, you know what, Joe?
00:37I just watched, and at that time, you guys know the Yankees went through
00:40a tough stretch in the summer.
00:41There's no question about it.
00:42And, yeah, they've got some real prominent superstars.
00:46I mean, you know, arguably Judge is one of the best players that ever played
00:49the game in Stanton.
00:51And, you know, they got Cody Bellinger.
00:53They got a lot of talent.
00:54But, and it showed up last year in the World Series.
00:58They didn't run the bases well.
01:00They don't have a good defensive team.
01:02You know, their shortstop made 19 errors.
01:04Most errors by any shortstop in the big leagues.
01:06Those types of things really rear their ugly head.
01:09Now, you guys saw the Boston Yankees series.
01:13If Boston catches the ball, Blue Jays are playing the Red Sox.
01:16And they just didn't catch the ball.
01:18And it's so important in this time of the season and postseason to catch the ball
01:22and make good pitches.
01:24And you saw it in the first two games with the Blue Jays.
01:26The defense for Toronto has been exceptional all season long.
01:30That's all I said.
01:31I mean, yeah, character.
01:32They've got a lot of character.
01:33They've got a pedigree.
01:35And Aaron Boone, when I first saw him in Toronto in our meeting with him
01:38before the game won, he said, I don't like your hair either.
01:42That's a funny comeback.
01:48So I guess he took it well.
01:49Obviously, your hair is outstanding for a seven-year-old man.
01:52So what do you think now?
01:55You've seen two games.
01:57The Yankees have kind of buttoned up.
01:58Their defense is better now than it was then.
02:02But the Blue Jays are still killing them.
02:04So what do you think is going on with the Yankees?
02:07Because you are the guy who said really that they weren't good enough.
02:12You know, John, I think the Blue Jays are playing old-school baseball.
02:15You know, John Snyder, the manager, emphasized this in spring training.
02:18It actually started at the end of last season where he said, you know what?
02:21We've got to get better on the bases.
02:23We've got to get better in the field.
02:24And we've got to have better at bats.
02:25So they brought in two new hitting coaches, David Popkins and Lua Anati.
02:30And I saw them in the spring.
02:32I said, what's your philosophy?
02:34And they said, get a good pitch to hit and get your best swing off.
02:37And at that point, I gave them a hug.
02:39There was no analytics involved.
02:40It was back to baseball.
02:42You know, watch what the pitcher's doing.
02:44Get a good pitch.
02:44And don't strike out.
02:45And they have struck out fewer times than anybody in baseball.
02:49And it plays, you know, so far in these first two games,
02:53the Blue Jays have more home runs than strikeouts in two games.
02:56And that's only happened one other time with the 2005 White Sox.
02:59So, let's get started.
03:01So, let's get started.
03:02You
