00:00The Saints were obviously in the quarterback market in the draft, too.
00:06What was your pre-draft stuff with them?
00:09Did you have a private, a visit, dirty?
00:11What was your contact with the Saints?
00:13Yeah, I met with them multiple times.
00:16Coach Moore was great.
00:18Coach Ness was great, too.
00:21So, you know, definitely had a good relationship with them,
00:24you know, during the whole process.
00:26And, yeah, excited to be on the field.
00:28Is there any chip on your shoulder that they didn't pick you at nine
00:31before the Giants had a chance to?
00:33I think that there's always a chip on your shoulder
00:35any time that, you know, something like that happens.
00:40But, yeah, I'm just going to go out there and play it as hard as I can.
00:43When you were sitting there in draft night and they were on the clock,
00:45did you think you might get a call?
00:46Did you have any one way or the other?
00:48Yeah, I felt like my visit with them went good.
00:51So, you know, you kind of have thoughts in your head during the draft
00:55of, you know, what options are really realistic.
00:57And I definitely felt like that was a place that, you know,
01:00could have panned out.
01:02But, you know, things didn't work out that way.
01:05Now that you're here, how do you think your experience has gone so far
01:08with the Giants?
01:09I love it here.
01:10I love it here.
01:11This isn't – there's not a place that I'd rather be.
01:14I love just, you know, how passionate people are here outside of the facility,
01:18within the facility.
01:19And I like kind of just like the attitude, you know,
01:22that the East Coasters have.
01:24And it's a lot of fun.
01:26So, I've loved it.
01:28What's going on on tape that you want to offer?
01:31I think just, you know, be a little bit cleaner with my footwork,
01:35you know, in the pocket.
01:37Be a little – you know, just be a little quicker in my progressions maybe.
01:40And there's definitely, you know, a few sacks that, you know,
01:44I felt like I could have got the ball out of my hand
01:45and probably just thrown away.
01:47So, you know, those are the kind of things that stood out to me.
01:49How quickly did you have to go from being bummed about the league's injury
01:52to sort of moving to what life's going to be like after him?
01:55What do you think it's going to be like now not having to wake out there?
01:58Yeah, well, you definitely can't, you know, just replace a player like that.
02:01I mean, he's one of one.
02:02You know, just his talent and his ability.
02:04But, you know, we've got a lot of good guys on our team.
02:07And it was definitely really hard.
02:09But, you know, I think it's hard, you know,
02:12just when you see somebody that you really respect,
02:14you have a really good friendship and all that, you know, go down.
02:17And, you know, during the game, it definitely, you know,
02:22hit us emotionally just as a team.
02:24So, you know, our prayers are with him.
02:26And, you know, we're constantly just trying to look after him.
02:28And during this time, you know, but we've got a lot of good guys
02:31and guys who are going to be willing to step up.
02:33And, you know, they have to step up.
02:35So, yeah, just, you know, going into this next game,
02:39just trying to get on the same page with everybody
02:41and being able to execute the highest level.
02:44Jack, did you play many domes in college?
02:46I played what?
02:47Many domed stadiums in college?
02:49Yeah.
02:50Yeah, I did.
02:50Well, can you lean on that experience going into the Superdome,
02:52or is this a whole different experience to kind of prepare for that?
02:55I mean, you know, every college has an indoor facility too.
02:58So, you know, a lot of practices, you know, especially at Ole Miss,
03:03you know, throwing in there.
03:05And then had, you know, several games where I played indoors,
03:08especially bowl games.
03:09So, you know, the ball comes out better in those environments.
03:15So, just excited for it.
03:16As far as the crowd, though, how is that kind of, like, different
03:18as far as just compared to, like, outdoor for you at least?
03:22I mean, I feel like I played, you know, in the SEC.
03:24So, I've played in a lot of, you know, really loud places.
03:28Obviously, you know, this one that we're walking into is, you know,
03:30notoriously, you know, one of the loudest in the league.
03:32So, we've got to definitely be prepared
03:34and have to communicate at the best of our ability.
03:36We try to do a really good job of practice of, you know, creating sound.
03:39And not all the time can you implement exactly what it's going to be like,
03:43but you just try to prepare that way.
03:45How did you feel the day after the game?
03:48And did you go back, when you went back and looked,
03:50did you think, okay, there's some spots where maybe I should take this hit?
03:54Or how did you sort of look at that kind of work?
03:59I felt like, you know, really just, you know,
04:01some of the sacks that I took were kind of the biggest ones hit-wise
04:04that I felt like I could have avoided.
04:07I felt like in the open field, a lot of them were on third down.
04:09So, you know, I'm not going to slide before the sticks.
04:11I'm going to try to get the first down.
04:13So, you know, I don't really regret any of those decisions that I made.
04:16What about the stiff arm at the end of the line?
04:18Yeah, maybe that's not the smartest of my throwing hand.
04:20So, you know, I didn't really like the way he was looking at me.
04:25What was your physical recovery like the last couple of days?
04:29Like how different was it compared to other weeks?
04:32I mean, I ran the ball a lot in college.
04:33So there was definitely times in college where my body, you know,
04:38felt it after games.
04:39And I think any time you're just, it's just football.
04:42So you're not always going to feel 100%, you know, after the game.
04:44But, you know, we have a really good training staff here.
04:46You know, we have a lot of, you know, assets that we can use to, you know,
04:51make sure our bodies are ready for next week.
04:53So, you know, these last few days have been, you know, really crucial for me
04:57and, you know, making sure that I'm on the right track
04:59and feeling 100% for Sunday.
05:01The tape on and the tights on, is that something you're just managing?
05:08Yeah, I mean, I always wear, you know, compression sleeves, you know,
05:11on my legs and whatnot.
05:12So, you know, that hasn't really changed anything.
05:15But, you know, I'll be good to go.
05:17What have the last few days been like for you just in life, you know,
05:20just after that game and a lot of focus on you and attention?
05:25How have you handled that?
05:26Yeah, it was good to, you know, have my family here.
05:28So, you know, it was fun to spend a little bit of time with them.
05:31Obviously, it's a better feeling walking out each week to a win.
05:36So, you know, I feel like that was good for the locker room and for the guys.
05:39But at the same time, it was just one game.
05:41So, we got a long season and that's just kind of how I view it.
05:45You know, don't make it anything bigger than what it is.
05:47It was just one game.
05:48And, you know, our mindset has to be to win every game that we play.
05:51So, how do you make it two games?
05:53Just, you know, have the same mindset, you know, each and every week.
05:56You know, we got to be able to have, you know, the competitive mindset,
05:59you know, to expect to win.
06:02And, you know, just try to create situations where, you know,
06:08maybe we face a little bit of adversity in practice and just go through that.
06:12But I think it's really just the habits that you try to create each and every day
06:15to, you know, build that momentum and being able to, you know,
06:20if you make a mistake, clean it up on the very next play and get things right.
06:23Jackson, some of the guys last week were saying, you know,
06:26just getting to know how you like to prepare for a game.
06:29And, you know, some of the receivers were talking about, you know,
06:31your calls that you called that night, hey, what do you think about this?
06:36I'm curious that after Sunday, did it kind of validate your preparation
06:41going into week two?
06:42Do you think that the guys now expect what they saw from you last week
06:46rather than wondering what they're going to get from you last week?
06:49Yeah, I think that it was just, you know,
06:51it was a good week for us to kind of get used to how, you know,
06:54everybody on the offensive side prepares and communicates with one another.
06:58And, you know, that's one thing that I really take, you know,
07:01accountability for is making sure that everybody's on the exact same page of
07:04really just trying to see the vision and see from my perspective
07:07and I want to see from their perspective.
07:09So it's constant communication throughout the day and just from watching film.
07:14And, you know, I think that, you know,
07:15we have a lot of really mature guys who prepare the right way.
07:19So, you know, it's definitely, you know,
07:22a good spot to be in when we can communicate.
07:23What's your relationship like with Theo and what kind of confidence do you have?
07:27Yeah, I love Theo.
07:29You know, he's a stud.
07:30He's a guy that comes to work every single day and, you know,
07:34works at his craft, you know, very diligently and consistently.
07:37So, you know, when you see a guy like that,
07:39you definitely have a ton of respect for him
07:40and we build a really good, you know,
07:41relationship off the field as well.
07:43So, you know, I'm just excited for him and I's, you know,
07:47relationship to continue to grow.
07:48And he's going to make a lot of really big plays for us this year.
07:51What was your phone like after the game?
07:54And, like, what have these last few days been like in handling all the other stuff
07:58that comes with it?
08:00I try to just stay off of it.
08:02Like I said, my parents were in town.
08:04And so I was able to just spend time with them.
08:07And I think that was really just my focus.
08:10And, you know, when you're a long way from home
08:13and you don't really get to see them a lot, it's good to have them.
08:16So I haven't really, you know, checked it that much, to be honest.
08:19Jackson, for you, how do you balance carrying over the momentum
08:22of the first win for the team into the next game
08:24with staying sharp and focused on the next game?
08:27Yeah, I mean, like I said, like it was just one game.
08:30You know, we have to, you know, our expectation and thought process
08:33is to win every game that we step in.
08:35So you can't make it anything bigger than what it is.
08:38And you've got to prepare the right way.
08:40And, you know, I think that's kind of been, you know,
08:43my message to everybody in the locker room.
08:45Like, you know, we've got to come to compete every single day.
