00:00Stepping up into the bright lights, dressed up loud.
00:06Wow, wow.
00:07This is so fancy.
00:08Feels like we're on a movie set.
00:10Hollywood style.
00:13Now that we're homeowners in Hollywood,
00:16we need to find our new local.
00:17And you could do a lot worse than the bar
00:19at the iconic Roosevelt Hotel.
00:21This swanky spot is drenched in Hollywood Regency flourishes.
00:25It's a style that came to be in the golden era of Hollywood
00:27from the 1920s all the way to the 1950s.
00:30It's all about glamour, opulence, and luxury.
00:33I love the design in here.
00:36It's so beautiful.
00:37Very old Hollywood.
00:38The first Oscars were here. Did you know that?
00:40No.
00:41They were 15 minutes long.
00:42I wish they still were.
00:43I know, me too.
00:44But you know, this place is like steeped in Hollywood history.
00:48It has that old Hollywood vibe that I love,
00:50that I would love to bring into the house.
00:52You know, a lot of interior design was inspired by like set design
00:56because it was so beautiful and glamorous.
00:58If our house is in the middle of Hollywood and we walk around
01:00and it seems like we live on a TV set,
01:02I don't have a problem with that.
01:03I don't either.
01:04The designs have to end up being what we want.
01:06It's important for it to be beautiful and comfortable
01:09and a place where we can both unwind and relax
01:12and build a life together.
01:15We waited so long to do this, moving together.
01:18Seven years, it's long overdue.
01:21And part of why I waited is because I wanted to do it right.
01:24And this feels right.
01:25Like I'm ready for the next big phase of our relationship.
01:29Me too.
01:30Now we just need to go out and make our dream home.
01:32Are you ready?
01:33I mean, we just have to start because we,
01:35we honestly should have started weeks ago.
01:37You could always just cancel your birthday party.
01:39That is not going to happen.
01:42Oh, honey, it all started with a dingy motel
01:45in the heart of Palm Springs,
01:47just begging for some serious glitter and glamour.
01:49My partner, David, and I transformed it
01:51into the most enchanting place on the planet.
01:53But the story doesn't stop there.
01:55David and I have decided to do the unthinkable.
01:58We're moving in together.
01:59And this time we're taking our dreams straight to Hollywood.
02:02We'll create a spectacular home dripping with glitz
02:05and all the Hollywood glam you can imagine.
02:07The spotlight is on us, honey, and we are here to work.
02:11Hello, Hollywood.
02:20We're ready for our close up.
02:22We just bought this fabulous new house for a cool three million.
02:25It's a beautiful three bedroom, two bath property
02:28from the roaring 1920s.
02:30We love the old world charm,
02:31but we can't wait to add our own sparkle and spice.
02:34The goal is to do a facelift on the kitchen
02:37while sticking with nips and tucks for the rest of the spaces,
02:40including the living room, dining room, butler's pantry, and office.
02:43Upstairs, there's a small bedroom that could use a little TLC,
02:46a stairwell, and we want to transform the primary bedroom
02:50into a space that's fit for a king and queen.
02:53And we'll wrap all this up by giving a little love to our lush backyard.
02:57So we've already gotten right to work on Trixifying the kitchen.
03:00It was definitely clean and classic before,
03:02but do I really look like the type of gal that settles for clean and classic?
03:07We're going to need some serious design magic here to revamp this dusty house
03:11into a show-stopping palace in less than four weeks,
03:14so we can throw a big housewarming slash birthday party for yours truly.
03:18And with a budget of just $150,000 to give this property a spectacular drag over,
03:24it's definitely going to be the Trixie and David make miracles happen.
03:28The sequel!
03:33Let's not forget that in just three weeks,
03:34we're hosting the Trixie Motel one-year anniversary party in Palm Springs.
03:38We got this, David!
03:41Thankfully, we're not in this alone.
03:43We've got LA's top designer Dan Vickery to help us see this project through.
03:47Hello!
03:48Oh, in the room that I came to talk about!
03:51Oh, we've got ideas!
03:52Ah yes, the primary bedroom.
03:54I just think this room's a big ball of potential.
03:57Let's talk about how you use the space.
03:59We don't come in here and spend hours awake in bed.
04:01Like, we come in here to sleep.
04:03It has to be something that is glamorous,
04:05but we still feel like powering down in here at night, you know?
04:09The most important thing is a unique bed.
04:12Like, some kind of thing that makes the bed feel like it's built into the room,
04:16I think would feel so fancy.
04:18What if we bring some paneling into this room?
04:21So if we build out around the windows,
04:24we can create a focus on this entire wall
04:27and make a small niche for the headboard to fit into.
04:30So if you build out,
04:31it'll look like we have like a recessed bed,
04:35but we really don't.
04:36Right.
04:37I would keep most of the room a similar green to this.
04:40It's a very relaxing color.
04:42And I think that we should upholster this wall.
04:44Oh, cool.
04:45Not to be gay, but I love like fabric upholstered walls.
04:48I really do.
04:49When we did the motel,
04:50I got a little obsessed with fabric headboards.
04:53Oh my God!
04:54Look at the bed!
04:55So this idea is a match made in drag heaven.
04:58This sleep sanctuary is about to become the boudoir of our dreams.
05:03Chic paneling frames the windows and wall,
05:05creating a sexy little alcove for the bed,
05:07which will be flush and soft.
05:10Right behind it, a splash of pink upholstery.
05:12So classy.
05:13We'll paint the walls in a sophisticated zen green,
05:16adding to this elevated look some gold and Hollywood touches
05:19and dreamy lighting.
05:21What a beauty!
05:22This room is going to give off some major Trixie Motel pink flamingo room vibes.
05:26Oh, totally.
05:27But instead of fun, kitschy and colorful,
05:29it's calm and sophisticated.
05:31Our little sanctuary.
05:33We plan to stick to a strict $25,000 budget for the upstairs spaces.
05:38To make sure we hit our overall goal of four weeks for this project
05:41and knowing the kitchen is going to take up so much of our energy,
05:44we're giving ourselves a very strict deadline of one week
05:47for both bedrooms as well as the stairwell.
05:50Oh, my God!
05:54It's all fun and games till you're moving.
06:00While the renos are being done on the house,
06:02we are moving into the ADU.
06:04For those who don't know, an ADU is an additional dwelling unit.
06:07It's in the back of the house.
06:08When we did Trixie Motel, I was there seven days a week
06:12making sure everything was getting done right.
06:14David, hello.
06:15A little help.
06:16I was just grabbing the essentials.
06:17Oh, great. Thank you.
06:18This time, I just need to kind of like roll out of bed
06:20and walk a few feet.
06:21That's definitely a benefit.
06:22Just being really close, really close to the project.
06:26God, this vodka's heavy.
06:28It's weird because the bottle's usually empty.
06:30I always pictured the day David and I would move in together.
06:33We'd be moving into a beautiful palatial home.
06:36Instead, we're moving into a nice first apartment.
06:40But this money we're saving by living in here,
06:42we can use toward design elements.
06:44My cheap side is so nourished by this.
06:49How are we going to survive living on top of each other?
06:51I mean, we have experience being on top of each other,
06:53but not in this sense.
06:55It'll be nice.
06:56We're like close to home.
06:57We can make sure everything's going well.
06:59And it's also nice to not be surrounded by all my drag.
07:02Our bowl.
07:04You know, we need to do more cooking.
07:05We could do some cooking in here.
07:07Yeah.
07:08Just because we're living in the ADU
07:09doesn't mean we have to, like, you know,
07:10not be human beings.
07:12Mm-hmm.
07:13We could try to cook and still be normal, right?
07:15We can go through some of your shoes,
07:17decide what we want, what we don't want.
07:19Look, here's a pair we don't want.
07:20Are you opening a candle store in Portland?
07:22These are great for when you teach women's studies.
07:25This looks like you are going to ask for your coffee
07:27to have oat milk.
07:28We'll come back to that.
07:30There's still so many things to do in Palm Springs
07:32before the anniversary party,
07:33so I'm going to be splitting my time.
07:35We're going to have to kind of divide and conquer here.
07:37You have high standards.
07:38Mm.
07:39I want to meet the high standards.
07:41And I know that if it's not right,
07:42you will walk in and tell me to my face.
07:43Yeah.
07:44I just want to avoid that personally.
07:46You're going to do a great job.
07:48We can do it.
07:49I know we can do it.
07:50Yeah.
07:51We got this.
07:52Take me high, baby.
07:53Take me low.
07:54Take me where you want to be.
07:56Hello, my beautiful child.
07:57I'm in Palm Springs to check in on the Trixie Motel.
07:59One year in and the motel is doing great.
08:01The guests are happy.
08:02We're making money.
08:03It's the coolest place to be in Palm Springs.
08:05But as a result, we're definitely starting to see some wear and tear around the property.
08:09So, we've closed the motel for a few days to tackle some projects before the big anniversary party.
08:25Well, all guests except one.
08:31Oh, oh.
08:34Yeah.
08:38Go away!
08:40Juno.
08:44David! Hello, my darling.
08:46Juno Birch is a dear friend of ours
08:48who crash-landed at the motel last year
08:50when we completed the atomic bombshell room.
08:52You were only supposed to stay a week.
08:54What are you still doing here?
08:56And she loved it so much that she never left.
08:58Oh, we're having trouble picking me up.
09:00There's traffic in the ozone layer.
09:02Absolutely riddled with traffic. Global warming, David.
09:05Come with me. I have a few projects for us.
09:07I'm a bit busy here, David, as you can see.
09:09I really cannot be bothered.
09:11I need some help, please.
09:13No, I don't clean, David.
09:15Well, I need to send housekeeping in here.
09:17It's been... I mean, look at this place.
09:19Come on, out you go.
09:21I'm going, David. I'm coming.
09:23Ooh, flamingos.
09:25I can assure everyone it isn't standard practice
09:28to have our guests complete chores around the motel,
09:30but so much to do, so little time.
09:33Besides, Juno has managed to rack up
09:35a pretty significant room service bill.
09:37And honey, we don't accept your space coins here.
09:41My back is killing me.
09:43I have sweat dripping down my bum cheeks.
09:47David has been making me do all this work.
09:49I've been gardening.
09:51I've been cleaning the pool.
09:53I've been spray painting all of those flamingos.
09:55Juno, they need to be pink flamingos, not blue flamingos.
09:59It's called the pink flamingo room.
10:01It's like, this is David, and this is me,
10:03nagging me all day.
10:07We have to replace this.
10:08There we go. Sorted.
10:10Ugh.
10:11If David thinks that I'm going to pay for staying in that room,
10:13he can kiss my mum, my darlings.
10:15Goodbye!
10:17It was fun while it lasted.
10:19I'm going home.
10:21Oh, wait, let me shut the door.
10:24We are getting ready here.
10:39And I'm telling the people.
10:44The people have rights to know about the weather.
10:46Listen, L.A. barely sees rain.
10:49But last night, huge storm.
10:53We were a little shook.
10:54A lot shook.
10:55And as any homeowner will tell you,
10:57the first thing you do after a big storm is you say to yourself,
11:01I hope the house is okay.
11:06Oh, God.
11:08Oh, my life.
11:11Look at this.
11:12Do you see all the dripping?
11:14Like, where the drain is, it's just, like, spidering.
11:17Yeah.
11:18And, obviously, I don't know if you noticed,
11:20but when this door is closed during the rain,
11:22the water was coming, like, down this.
11:25I know.
11:26You can see it bubbling.
11:28Not good.
11:30Not good.
11:32Not good at all.
11:39Not good.
11:40All this heavy rain, I don't think the house was built.
11:44Did it not rain in the 20s?
11:45I don't know.
11:46It's just with everything we're trying to do, like, do we even have time to fix this?
11:50Or the budget to fix this?
11:51This could be, like, $10,000, $20,000.
11:54$30,000.
11:55$40,000.
11:56$50,000.
11:57$60,000.
11:58I mean, it's just...
11:59Hey, guys.
12:00Have you seen the film Waterworld?
12:01Yes.
12:02Girl, it's not good.
12:04It's right there.
12:05It's also right here.
12:06Uh-huh.
12:07But also, because coming from the drain, this must be, like, just flooding.
12:11This thing.
12:12If it is just an issue with the drain in this ceiling, it is easier to fix that, patch the
12:17stucco, you're done.
12:18If we find out that the tile above wasn't sealed correctly, that's ripping out all that
12:22tile, laying down a new sealant, putting down new tile, which is going to be a big project.
12:27We have this large patio off the primary bedroom, but we weren't intending to touch it right
12:32now.
12:33It isn't very private, and we figured we'd get more use out of the backyard.
12:36If we have to replace those tiles on top of fixing the cracks, not only is it going
12:40to eat into our very limited timeline, but it also eats into our very limited budget.
12:46This sucks.
12:48While we wait to hear about the patio, the show must go on.
12:51We didn't love losing that gorgeous tile in the kitchen, but 100 years of living its best
12:56life meant the floor was super uneven.
12:59So the team is pouring concrete to level the floors back to, um, you know, level.
13:03While that's happening, Dan and I are meeting to go over plans for the walk-in closet.
13:07Do you want to sit?
13:08Yeah.
13:09Even though we have so much space in the new house, I'm going to keep all my drag at the
13:13condo and dedicate my new closet to just men's clothing.
13:17I've spent so much of my life in drag that when I'm out of drag, I tend to dress like,
13:22I don't know, a nice barista from Portland.
13:26My men's clothing has never been a priority to me because I've spent all of this time
13:30sacrificing pain, my body, et cetera, to look amazing in drag.
13:35I'm looking forward to creating a space where I get excited about being out of drag the same
13:39way I get excited about being in drag.
13:41So I know that buying this house is a big change in a lot of different ways.
13:45Moving into a house and having a room dedicated to Brian, not Trixie, it's a big deal.
13:51Yeah.
13:52When I started drag at 18, so every bedroom I've ever had, I've had to keep all my drag
13:56in the same room I sleep.
13:57When Dave and I first started dating, it was like having your new boyfriend sleep over
14:01and like step over a wig.
14:02Luckily, he was very loving and understanding, but you know.
14:05So my hope is that when Dave and I live here together, there's a much bigger separation
14:10of my time with him and our time as a family and then my time with work.
14:16He's always accommodated me being Trixie because he wants me to have every single opportunity
14:22available to me.
14:23He doesn't want to stand in the way of any of it ever.
14:25But like at a certain point, like it's just really overdue that he knows that if we're
14:30going on a date night, I'm going to have a closet full of clothes that are not wigs and sequins
14:35to put on that like, like our life is my focus.
14:40And I think the right venue will make me get into that more.
14:45Let's do it.
14:46So I think that we need to keep some formality in this room.
14:50Got this wall.
14:51It's a nice cube.
14:52It's a nice cube tray.
14:53Almost, almost.
14:54With our budget, we can include a couple of customized prefab closet systems.
14:59On each side of the window.
15:01And I think that we do a mix, right?
15:03It's a men's closet.
15:04So we can do some half height, some drawers, broad, close hanging, include some elegant
15:09drapery, maybe repaint the walls and a nice up to tone.
15:12We could do a couple more units on the sides as well.
15:15So you get that full like wraparound walk-in closet feel.
15:19You know what else I really like?
15:20I don't wear a lot of jewelry, but I wear a lot of necklaces that say words.
15:23Like I have one that says bitch, one that says skinny.
15:26And I would love to be able to have an area with my little jewelry, an area with my sunglasses,
15:30a full length mirror, obviously.
15:32Instead of just a standard full length mirror, what if we go to like a tailor station,
15:36three mirrors across this wall that can angle in and you can like fully take in your look
15:41from every angle and know like I look fierce and David's going to be proud to be with me.
15:47I mean, that is very extravagant.
15:49It's very grown up, but I'm old now.
15:51I'm in my thirties.
15:52Gay in your thirties.
15:53Gay in your thirties.
15:54Yeah, gay in your forties.
15:56Well, you know, I'm old, but I'm standing on your grave.
15:59You know what I mean?
16:00We're in this together.
16:01Yeah.
16:08Let's go fabric shopping.
16:09That's right.
16:10Rixi is in rehearsal today.
16:11So Dan and I are on the hunt for some fabric for the custom headboard in the primary bedroom.
16:16Normally, I'm a bold pattern kind of guy.
16:19Give me florals.
16:20Give me animal print.
16:21Give me chinoiserie.
16:22But for the headboard, we want a simpler fabric in pink.
16:26The idea is for this bedroom to be a sanctuary where we can wind down at the end of the night.
16:31It needs to be very calming and zen-like.
16:33A soft pink will be perfect.
16:35We'll save the party for downstairs.
16:37So let's say just anything that strikes your eye.
16:41Ah, the pinks.
16:43Yeah.
16:44This is pretty.
16:45But too bright.
16:46Pretty.
16:47Wow.
16:48This I love.
16:49Love.
16:50Obsessed.
16:51Got a nice texture to it.
16:52Gorgeous.
16:53So it's not going to feel too flat and dull on the wall.
16:55Mm-hmm.
16:56So far, she's my fave.
16:58All right.
16:59French Bulldogs.
17:00We love French Bulldogs.
17:01We do love French Bulldogs.
17:02And the roosters.
17:03Mm.
17:04You see anything else?
17:08This is pretty.
17:09Should we maybe go get that other roll and put them side by side?
17:12I think we have to.
17:13Yeah.
17:14All right.
17:15There we go.
17:16I think just seeing them side by side.
17:19I am just worried.
17:20Yeah.
17:21Yeah.
17:22This might be a little too saturated.
17:24Mm-hmm.
17:25I'm not afraid of going more saturated, more colorful ever.
17:28I don't know.
17:29I think the orange in this, see how much brighter it is with the green?
17:32Yeah.
17:33So obviously we wouldn't pick a green this intense, but it's going to amplify the color of that.
17:38The other thing we can look at is this one's $65 a roll.
17:42This one's $39 a roll.
17:44Okay.
17:45You're true to form.
17:46You love the more expensive option.
17:47I do.
17:48I'm going to be honest.
17:50I think that this feels like an upholstery fabric in the sense that it should be an upholstered
17:55piece of furniture.
17:56Mm-hmm.
17:57Right?
17:58It's like a cut chenille.
17:59Yeah.
18:00Even though it's a performance fabric.
18:01Whereas this has got more of like a grass cloth texture.
18:02So it's already riding that line between a wallpaper and a fabric.
18:05I see what you mean.
18:06Okay.
18:07But.
18:08I still like it.
18:10You can like it.
18:12But do you think that it is the best choice for the bedroom?
18:15Ugh.
18:16It's hard for me to say.
18:18I don't know.
18:19I'm torn.
18:20This is, to me, not only the better option as far as color and texture, but obviously
18:29the better option as far as budget.
18:30Are you sold?
18:31Ugh.
18:32It's hard for me to say.
18:34But we can pick the cheaper option.
18:41We're going with the softer, dreamier, spa-like option because it's a bedroom.
18:46Okay.
18:47It pains me to not pick a more saturated, more textured pink fabric.
18:51Pains me.
18:52So Dan, you better be right.
18:54I promise you this.
18:55You're going to be sold when we see it up on the wall.
18:57I trust you.
18:58Okay.
18:59That's the one.
19:05Today I'm meeting up with Dan to go over our big plans for the kitchen.
19:08Hello.
19:09Hello.
19:10Even though our focus is currently on the upstairs, the kitchen is such a big job that we need
19:15to get started right away if we're going to have everything done for my birthday party
19:19in four weeks.
19:20We're going to reuse the cabinets and the appliances, and we're going to splurge on custom tile work
19:26for the kitchen floor.
19:27It is going to be a showstopper.
19:30I am absolutely obsessed with beautiful tiles.
19:34I mean, it's working me out.
19:36It's got me so, so excited.
19:39I guess in addition to a contractor and designer, we could have got on-site therapists,
19:43because if I was the tile person right now, this stresses me out.
19:46Oh, this is going to stress them out.
19:47This is hand-pressed tile, so they're all irregular.
19:50It takes a lot more time and effort than a standard tile.
19:53This is just in the center of the main kitchen.
19:55We also have a pink border running around the entire edge of the room.
19:59The entire space here in the back is going to be pink tiles.
20:01It's really going to be worth it.
20:02I mean, this is really cool.
20:03Yeah.
20:04It's pink, but not too pink.
20:05You know, it's graphic, but not too graphic.
20:07I really like it.
20:08So what's the kitchen status here?
20:10The floor tile needs to go down first.
20:12Once we have all that done, we start painting cabinets, put on countertops, new sink, faucet.
20:18Then we can do the backsplash, painting, lights, hardware.
20:22Everything in here is getting touched.
20:24I mean, we're leaving the switches.
20:26Woo!
20:27Saving money!
20:29In this kitchen, we're going to up the fabulous factor, starting with the floor.
20:34Now that it's leveled, we'll dress it with those fierce custom tiles.
20:39To save money, we'll keep the cabinets and appliances.
20:41They will get a front row seat to this little drag show.
20:44Next, we'll sprinkle some Trixie Mattel magic and pinkify everything from top to bottom.
20:49When it's done, it's going to be pink perfection.
20:52I'm so happy with all of our plans in motion.
20:55It's time for me to turn my attention to my drab men's wardrobe.
20:59I've been wearing the same underwear since, like, college.
21:02My entire men's wardrobe could use a little bit of a zhuzh.
21:05So, I'm going to call in just the person to help me out on that journey.
21:09He is a certain man of mystery.
21:20Well, if it isn't Orville Peck.
21:23Last time I saw you, we were in Palm Springs.
21:28Wow, Trixie Mattel.
21:32Trixie Mattel.
21:33I didn't know the circus was in town.
21:39Okay, come on.
21:41Welcome to my home.
21:44I'm Orville Peck.
21:45I am a country star.
21:49On top of being an uber-talented and incredibly humble country singer,
21:54Orville's also my closest gayest cowboy friend.
21:58And when Dave and I bought the motel, I enlisted his help to renovate
22:01the Yeehaw cowgirl room.
22:03Taking something old and decrepit and making it look beautiful,
22:05that's like your pastime.
22:08Oh my God.
22:10Such a bitch.
22:12Please come in, enjoy the AC.
22:16Oh my gosh.
22:18I don't say this to everyone.
22:19I love this house.
22:21We're always talking about how, like, your house has to look like your house.
22:23Yeah.
22:24This couldn't be anyone else's house.
22:25Who else could live here?
22:27I've decorated it all myself.
22:28It's all original redwood.
22:29It was built in 1953.
22:31I have a wooden refrigerator.
22:32Like, everything's wood.
22:34We call it a bougie Cracker Barrel.
22:37Well, this is a beautiful home, but I don't see drag.
22:40Where's your mask?
22:41Where's your shoes?
22:42Oh, I keep it all very, uh, well, I've got it all.
22:44I mean, I'll show you.
22:45You want to see?
22:46Yes, please.
22:47God, you think I came to hang out with you?
22:50Welcome to my closet.
22:52This is my big kind of walk-in closet.
22:55So this is just a portion of my performance.
22:57A lot of these are my special pieces.
22:59Like, this is custom Dior that I wore to the Grammys.
23:01Some of my very nostalgic pieces.
23:03Like, this was the first nudie suit I ever wore.
23:05That is so sweet.
23:07Yes.
23:08And then my everyday stuff.
23:11I'm OCD, so I kind of color organize everything.
23:14A lot of these are expensive brands you might not have heard of.
23:16We've heard of Crocs, bitch.
23:20One of the reasons I came to see Orville
23:21is because I really respect his personal style.
23:24It's not just his performance looks, but also his regular menswear.
23:27One thing I really want to do now that I have this whole big closet space
23:31is focus a little more on my clothes out of drag.
23:34David, he always looks great.
23:36He has great personal style.
23:38And me out of drag, I'm just, like, hiding out in, like, plain boy clothes.
23:42This whole renovation is about making sure that David and I are moving in
23:45to really build our life together.
23:47Part of that is, like, actually investing in our time together.
23:50Actually caring about what you look like with your partner in public.
23:54Do you have a lot of boy clothes?
23:55Not even.
23:56I feel like in drag I have such an exact personal style, good or bad.
24:00And then out of drag...
24:01The jury's out.
24:02Yeah, jury's out.
24:03But then out of drag, I'm always like, is this okay?
24:07Okay, well, if you aren't busy, we could go to one of my favorite stores.
24:11I think we need to shop.
24:12Okay.
24:13You're going to go like this?
24:14I'm going to slip into something a little less shocking.
24:23Here we are.
24:24It kind of looks like your closet if it was a little bigger.
24:26So the mission today is we have to find some pieces for my closet to build my clothing here.
24:30But most importantly, we need an outfit for the one-year anniversary of the Trixie Motel.
24:34Okay, so something garden-y, kind of casual.
24:37I don't want to go, like, Lisa Frank barbiecore.
24:40It's one year.
24:41Yeah.
24:42I want it to be a little more, like, I don't know, nice.
24:48I love this.
24:50I wish this could be me.
24:51That could be you, and I can actually see you in that very easily.
24:53Welcome to my motel, which has been one year old.
24:56Does that read?
24:57That's beautiful, yeah.
24:58Okay, good.
24:59For the anniversary party, I need to find a fancy ensemble
25:02that's not a tight-fitting mini dress in high heels.
25:05This green corduroy suit is so pretty.
25:07It's going to be too hot in Palm Springs next week,
25:09so I'm going to have to slay in full men's fashion.
25:14Okay, let's see it.
25:17I think it's actually cool.
25:18You do? Okay, good.
25:19Yeah, with the shoes you've in.
25:20The shirt is so cute.
25:21I kind of look like I'm going bowling.
25:25Okay, I think you're actually really going to like this one.
25:26Okay.
25:29Not those moves.
25:30That's like what I think you do.
25:32Do you ever just walk up to people and go like...
25:37I hate it.
25:38I hate it so much.
25:40Okay, I think this might actually be the one.
25:42All right, let's see it.
25:46Oh my God, I love it.
25:47Do I look like I own a motel in Palm Springs or what?
25:49You look like you own a motel and a nice house.
25:51Yeah, right?
25:52It's perfect.
25:53It's pink, but not too pink.
25:54It's a little bit grown up.
25:55I think we should get this for the party,
25:56and I think we should get the rest of it for the new closet.
25:58I think you absolutely have to get everything.
26:00This morning we got a text from Dan saying to come over to the main house to discuss some issues in the bedroom,
26:14which is never a good sign.
26:16I don't know, maybe he wants to discuss his own performance issues in the bedroom.
26:20No?
26:21No?
26:22All right.
26:23Oh, good.
26:24It's going to be done on time and it's not going to cost a dime more.
26:27Great, bye.
26:28Bye.
26:30So this entire wall is supposed to be panels.
26:33Yeah, the idea was we would build out the wall and it would make the bed feel more recessed.
26:38Correct.
26:39All of this is laid out correctly, but no work was supposed to be built out.
26:44I definitely wouldn't call this wall built out.
26:47That's for sure.
26:48So this is a mistake?
26:49Yes.
26:50You were building out this, this, that this appears more recessed.
26:54Correct.
26:55When you're moving as fast as we are on a project, lines of communication are bound to get crossed.
27:00Orr's team got the paneling layout perfect, but they messed up the dimensions of the framing.
27:05How do we fix this?
27:06This all has to come in.
27:07I'm not sure.
27:08I'm not sure.
27:09I'm not sure.
27:10I'm not sure.
27:11I'm not sure.
27:12I'm not sure.
27:13I'm not sure.
27:14I'm not sure.
27:15I'm not sure.
27:16I'm not sure.
27:17I'm not sure.
27:18How do we fix this?
27:19This all has to come off.
27:20The wall needs to be built out.
27:21Then this has to be reapplied.
27:22It's not going to cost more money to fix, is it?
27:25No.
27:26But it costs more time.
27:28Which we're short on.
27:29Well, at least we know this is the right shape.
27:32But as a drag queen, I've never made a mistake, so I can't really relate to this.
27:36Can we show you other problems?
27:38Do you really have another problem, too?
27:39Yeah.
27:40Do you want to take a look at the patio?
27:42Yes, I would.
27:43Yay!
27:44Yeah, you made it sound so good.
27:48The tile's gone.
27:50Well, it looked like water damage.
27:52Yeah.
27:53There was mold all over the place.
27:55That is horrible.
27:56Are we talking we need to do more work level of mold?
27:59Or are we talking you've got it all?
28:01No, it's completely gone.
28:03Next steps are waterproofing membranes.
28:06Then we lay our towel on top of that.
28:08Okay.
28:09So what you had before was called hot mop.
28:11And that was done improperly.
28:12And you don't really do that on exterior balconies.
28:14Your towel's not actually the waterproof.
28:16The waterproof is underneath.
28:17Right.
28:18And that was all deteriorating underneath.
28:19And that's why we were getting those leaks.
28:22So not only do we need to repair the damage downstairs.
28:25We have to replace the patio upstairs.
28:27Well, now that we've gone this far.
28:29We might be able to find a way to give that patio a cute little glow up.
28:32As long as we can do something to fix the privacy.
28:35And as long as we can do it for very little money.
28:37Because this water damage has really set us back.
28:40I've got to head back to Palm Springs for more anniversary party prep.
28:44But I'm going to leave this in your very capable hands.
28:47You've got this?
28:48I've got this.
28:49I mean, do I look stressed?
28:51I mean, I wear so much makeup.
28:52I don't know if you can see me under here.
28:53But I don't look stressed.
28:58There's absolutely no time to waste.
29:01The construction team is kicking it into high gear.
29:04While David is away in Palm Springs, Dan and I are getting busy in the bedrooms.
29:08Our budget took a huge hit.
29:10So we've decided to pull back some of the plans for the walk-in closet.
29:13Keeping the existing wallpaper is going to be a big savings.
29:17And it doesn't hurt that I've grown to love its vintage charm.
29:20We're also not going to do a full wraparound closet system.
29:23Rome wasn't built in a day.
29:25And neither will my men's wardrobe.
29:27But we're installing a new tri-fold full-length mirror.
29:30It's classy and practical and cheaper.
29:34When we took on some of these projects, I thought we would be relieving some stress.
29:38But push comes to shove, you actually are adding stress.
29:41Because instead of letting a professional do it with very capable hands, you're doing it with your incapable hands.
29:47And that's different.
29:49Whoa, stuff is happening in here.
29:52It's not completely done, but conceptually, we're on the right track.
29:55This is a build-out now.
29:57So, each of these panels will be sitting vertically in this space.
30:01Hopefully we cut it correctly.
30:02Now we need to cover these with some batting and some fabric.
30:06But first, we need to cut some holes in the two end panels for outlets, switches, and sconces.
30:11Switches and sconces.
30:12Yes.
30:21Look.
30:22It's serving something, but I don't know what it is.
30:24But I really like it.
30:26It's done.
30:27Eight.
30:28Served.
30:29We don't have to use it.
30:32We'll start, I would say, at the bottom.
30:37So, just in a row.
30:38You little bastard.
30:40Okay.
30:41That looks pretty good.
30:42Let's go to the other side.
30:43Yeah, don't worry about those.
30:44That was like my, that was my learning curve.
30:51Should we peek?
30:52We're gonna lay down our fabric.
30:53Aww.
30:54You like it?
30:55Love.
30:56It's really giving, um, Christmas village.
31:00Slay.
31:01We gotta get fabric on this sucker.
31:03Yep.
31:04This is the correct side.
31:05We're gonna lay it face down.
31:06Love this color.
31:10Come on, girl.
31:14Can we flip it over?
31:15Yeah, let's do it.
31:19Love.
31:20Looks great.
31:21I wanna pull a couple spots a little bit tighter.
31:22Yeah, I see that.
31:23Yeah.
31:24I'm gonna be honest.
31:25I know that was me not pulling that tight enough.
31:26And now that I know what that consequence is, we will not do that again.
31:29Honestly, I, I don't remember who did what staples.
31:32We put in hundreds already.
31:34You know when they say, I'm not gonna hold this over your head.
31:39We're making something that will literally hang over our heads.
31:42So it has to be right.
31:43Otherwise, every morning, when David Silver and I open our little peepee eyes,
31:47we look up at an uneven headboard and we're gonna be like,
31:50yeah, that's us.
31:52That's us.
31:53We did that.
31:59We are so close to finishing the redesign on the second floor.
32:02In the bedroom, the paneling is done and the room is getting a green makeover.
32:06Don't think we forgot about you cheeky little stairwell.
32:09Dan and David ordered a custom pink cloud wallpaper that's going to envelop the entire space.
32:15The scale is incredible.
32:17These big, big clouds, I mean, you're gonna feel like you're floating.
32:20Talk about being in heaven.
32:22On the patio, we need a setback from water damage, which ate into our budget.
32:26But the new tiles are being laid and they look beautiful.
32:29To finish this area off, Dan has designed a custom daybed with a privacy canopy to block any nosy neighbors.
32:36And because we have no money left in our budget to spend,
32:39I'm calling my good friend, Nicole Byer, to help finish the build on it.
32:42She's a multi-talented comedian who helped complete the Queen of Hearts room at the Trixie Motel.
32:47She knows a thing or two about getting her hands dirty.
32:50Oh, my gosh.
32:51It's Sydney!
32:52Oh, my goodness.
32:55God, it's so nice.
32:57Yeah, this is my new house.
32:58It's got great bones.
32:59Yes.
33:00But, you know, this is Los Angeles.
33:01Sometimes people with great bones still need a lot of filler.
33:03A little bit of work.
33:04There's nothing wrong with it.
33:06We're just making it a little more...
33:07Ooh!
33:08You know.
33:09Gay.
33:10And that's where you come in because, you know, I love to ask my friends for help.
33:13I mean, I don't love doing free work for friends.
33:18I have a mortgage and, you know, things I need to pay for.
33:22But, you know, I got nothing going on.
33:27This, ba-ba-ba-bum, is the primary bedroom.
33:30With a magic hat.
33:32I like it.
33:33It's like a sea foam green.
33:35Yeah.
33:36My dream.
33:37I want this room to feel as sensual, inviting, sexy, without doing, like, heart-shaped vibrating
33:44beds.
33:45Do you know what I mean?
33:46Sure, sure, sure.
33:47Yeah.
33:48What do you think a bedroom needs to be perfect vibes?
33:51Wow.
33:52I love a mirror next to the bed for, you know...
33:58For checking my hair when I'm bald.
34:00Uh-huh.
34:01Yeah.
34:02Just to be like, is it still not there?
34:04Also, I love a candle.
34:06Yeah.
34:07I think it's sexy.
34:08I bought ten candles the other day.
34:10Ten.
34:11Number three, fresh roses on the bedside table.
34:15That's sweet.
34:16Isn't that nice?
34:17Trixie keeps calling me a love and sex expert.
34:20I am single and have been famously my whole life.
34:24So, I guess it's kind of like fake it till you make it.
34:26I just kind of believe it, too.
34:28Hello?
34:29Yes, Nicole.
34:30Hi.
34:31This is Dan Bickery, the designer of The Hole.
34:32Hi, Dan.
34:33Hi.
34:34It's your sexuality, girl, that's making me crazy.
34:37And I just can't get enough of these things you do.
34:40These things you do to me.
34:42Ah!
34:43The Dan Bickery.
34:44You are more beautiful in person.
34:46Ah!
34:48I was hoping you could help me make the canopy for the daybed.
34:51Have you ever used tools before?
34:53We're going to be using big tools, little tools.
34:55Oh, I can handle a big tool.
34:56And I can work with a small tool.
34:58Okay.
34:59And, uh, you can make some pillows.
35:02Great.
35:03Anything I can do to help.
35:04Okay.
35:05Everything's downstairs.
35:06Let me show you.
35:07Oh.
35:08I'm coming.
35:11Have you ever used a chop saw before?
35:14Never in my whole life.
35:16Safety first.
35:17You need to hold one hand.
35:18And then this is your operating guard.
35:20Uh-huh.
35:21Ah!
35:22Ah!
35:23Ah!
35:24Ah!
35:25Ah!
35:26Dan is just, like, really cute.
35:28And, like, he's got a juicy booty.
35:30And, like, his face is, like, good to look at.
35:32And, like, he's got these eyes.
35:33There's two.
35:34I'm feeling, like, just, like, raw sexual electric chemistry.
35:39Fill this in first.
35:40Yeah.
35:41Wait, that's it?
35:42That's it.
35:43Oh, it's, like, stuck in there.
35:44Yeah.
35:45But do you want to put in the other?
35:49Building's tedious.
35:51I'm already done.
35:52One more.
35:53Shh.
35:54Oh!
35:55Oh.
35:57Ah!
35:58I built that!
35:59You did!
36:00We'll do another one just like it.
36:01Rexy!
36:02Look what we made!
36:03It looks like it's gonna be a canopy for a bed.
36:05Yes!
36:06Mm-hmm.
36:07Nicole, why don't you come relax?
36:09Okay.
36:10I gotta run upstairs.
36:11I'll be right back.
36:12All right.
36:13Bye, Dan.
36:14He's nice, right?
36:15He's more than nice.
36:16Dan said I was the most beautiful woman he has ever seen.
36:20Well, I think he's right about that.
36:22I just caution you.
36:23I think the right woman for him is a man,
36:25and I think that he met him when he married him.
36:28Wait, you think he's gay or something?
36:30He's an interior designer in Los Angeles,
36:32and he's doing the home of a drag queen.
36:34Think I got a straight guy to come to this?
36:37Love is a complicated web.
36:42Welcome back from the Trixie Motel.
36:44How is the party planning prep?
36:45It's all fabulous, but I'm really excited to see
36:47how the upstairs is coming along.
36:49This is my favorite part.
36:51Cue the montage.
36:57The team is blazing through the spaces
36:58so we can meet our one-week deadline for the upstairs.
37:01In the primary suite, the upholstered wall
37:03is going in to create a luxe backdrop for our bed.
37:06The glamorous lighting has been installed,
37:08and we're finishing it all off with some stylish furniture.
37:11It's a room fit for a Hollywood starlet.
37:14In the stairwell, the elegant chandelier is being hung,
37:16and the last of the enchanting pink cloud wallpaper is going up.
37:20It's a big expense, but it's worth it.
37:23And finally, with simple touches and sleek furnishings,
37:26the walk-in closet is dressed for success.
37:29Well, it's almost showtime.
37:31David, are you ready to see your new bedroom slash walk-in closet?
37:34Are you ready to see your new stairwell?
37:36There's only one way to find out.
37:38Let's do it.
37:40You will get it!
37:51Well, Trixie, I have a feeling we're not in Wisconsin anymore.
37:55Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn,
37:57because Hollywood is your home now,
37:59and there's no place like home.
38:02There's no place like home.
38:04There's no place like home.
38:06Hello?
38:07Hello?
38:08Oh, look at it!
38:14Can you believe our very dreamy, very glamorous stairwell?
38:17I love it!
38:18Look at the pink cloud!
38:20It's a little abstract.
38:21It was very difficult to install,
38:23because it is two stories of wallpaper,
38:25and this very dramatic gold ceiling.
38:27It looks like gold leaf, but it is just wallpaper.
38:30Look at these!
38:31It's like the house has jewelry on.
38:33That Phantom of the Opera Chandelier
38:34was way too big for the space.
38:36This is so much better than what was here.
38:38Hollywood Regency, glamorous, luxurious.
38:41You didn't do much.
38:44Yeah, it's really all just wallpaper and life in house.
38:47But look at the dramatic difference.
38:49I love it.
38:51David, welcome to the closet.
38:54Wow.
38:55Now I know we had to pull back on the design here
38:58to save a little money, but I still think it turned out great.
39:01Kept the wallpaper, but we switched out a new fixture.
39:05Love this fixture.
39:06I love the green, I love the gold.
39:08Love this desk.
39:10It's great because it looks out into the backyard.
39:12Gorge?
39:13Yeah.
39:14So these mirrors, they can swing out like a tailor.
39:16Cool!
39:17Imagine you're getting ready for an event,
39:19you're not sure what to wear, but you know what to wear
39:21because now you can like see yourself.
39:23Oh my God.
39:24I can go to a jazz club.
39:28Okay, that's enough hat.
39:30When I was shopping with Orville Peck,
39:32he really inspired me to invest more in our clothes.
39:35And I think by keeping the drag somewhere else,
39:38I hope you take it as a very genuine gesture that
39:41I'm very ready for this part of our life.
39:43Aw.
39:44Now this is our little closet.
39:45I really like it.
39:46Good.
39:49You've always been so supportive of me being Jersey.
39:51Of course.
39:52The space in our new home represents a shift towards us
39:56and focusing more on our life together.
39:58It's a major milestone and I'm very excited about it.
40:00Me too, I'm proud of you.
40:03David, our bedroom.
40:06Wow.
40:07Pretty, right?
40:08It's so pretty.
40:10The words we were looking for here were soft, fresh.
40:14We removed all this wallpaper,
40:16but I liked that sage green kind of vibe.
40:18We continued that up onto the ceiling.
40:21New light pictures, new sconces.
40:24Love this.
40:25The bed's beautiful.
40:26I love this bed.
40:28We built out this wall.
40:29Yeah.
40:30And then this upholstery.
40:31Dan Vickery and I made these.
40:33There's thousands of staples in the back of these.
40:36The fabric wasn't my first choice, but I love it.
40:40This room is intentionally chill vibes.
40:43With all our big plans for the rest of the house,
40:45I thought it was a really smart move for us to keep this room
40:47actually like a little sanctuary.
40:49Yeah.
40:50We have a great view of our fancy television.
40:52And if you notice, our patio.
40:54Ooh.
40:56David, this is the exterior of your bedroom.
40:58Wow.
41:00Nice, right?
41:01We weren't going to touch this space, but I'm so glad we did.
41:04We had neighbors.
41:06We don't anymore.
41:07I can't see them.
41:08We got this day bed, and then Nicole Byer and Dan Vickery,
41:11they erected this so that we can have a little privacy.
41:13I love that.
41:14If you notice, this is a lot like the tile we had,
41:17but because of all that severe water damage, I mean,
41:20we had to dig up all of this.
41:22But silver lining, we got brand new black and white graphic tile.
41:25It looks better.
41:26Oh, it looks way better.
41:27I love it.
41:28I just can't believe this is our life.
41:35David, our first bedroom together.
41:38Can you believe it?
41:39I can't.
41:40Seven years in the making, and it only took a week.
41:42That's kept us on schedule to finish the whole renovation
41:45before the housewarming slash birthday party in three weeks.
41:48And the budget?
41:49Well, we budgeted $25,000 for all of the rooms upstairs,
41:53and we definitely took a hit with all of the water damage issues.
41:56But by pulling back on the design in the closet,
41:58we only ended up $5,000 over budget.
42:01Not exactly the best omen for us to have a to-do list
42:04that is longer than my eyelashes.
42:09Yeah, and we still have to do all of the main floor spaces
42:11and the backyard.
42:13And, of course, the biggest facelift of all, the kitchen.
42:15So we're going to need to watch those purse strings.
42:19I also want to be sure we push Dan to go bigger, bolder, wilder,
42:22because I want this house to be gorgeous.
42:25And if anyone can do it, it's us,
42:27because this is the Trixie and David Make Miracles Happen.
42:31Here we go again.
42:32Oh, you know, I can't puzzle up a good callback.
42:35The sequel!
42:40Oh, this is so medieval.
42:41Are these clocks sewn to your feet?
42:43Don't touch the fireplace. Don't.
42:45Well...
42:46Oh, you just went in there really bold.
42:49Well, what are we supposed to do?
42:52Thank you, everybody, for coming to the one-year anniversary
42:54of the Trixie Motel in Palm Springs, California.
42:59Girl, cheers.
43:00It's everything here.
43:03That is the gayest thing I've ever seen in my whole life.
43:06Love it!
43:07This is amazing.
