06:58funny part you'll be performing in pairs oh a paired comedy challenge RuPaul you are
07:09spoiling this that's right this week sisters are doing it for themselves and with each other
07:16oh my god hashtag drag race UK okay let's get you paired up oh there are a few people I
07:23don't want
07:24to be paired with Kate Butch and Fontana I'm so happy she's a pro and stand-up comedy is her
07:32thing
07:43Mariah is very funny that being said not when she really has to be now the judges and I will
07:52be
07:52looking for a sparkling stand-up comedy duo so create a relationship that can serve comedy gold now later to
08:01help you polish your comedy acts you'll meet with comedian Jade Adams huh now Mariah as last week's
08:10winner I'm leaving you in charge of the performance order oh don't fuck it up razors start your engines
08:20and may the funniest drag queens win well isn't that something this is crazy I've never done a comedy
08:33challenge I don't know I'm a little nervous we have to create our jokes from scratch and Godwin's comedy
08:40seems accidental it's kind of like a personality quark that just happens to work in her favor you you
08:49cannot scripted me too much because I I cannot remember them all you have to like give me space for
08:56me to to be myself I am physically funny see you laugh okay so you would be the extra extra

09:07then I would have to be the anchor to like keep to keep it like grounded I don't know okay

09:18oh so far Godwin isn't giving me any ideas and I'm definitely concerned I think I'm gonna be carrying the

09:41challenge I didn't get to do my roast challenge in my season and I really want to do well in

09:45comedy challenge and we've got the thing that has made Rue laugh the most this whole competition
09:52bucket how are you feeling about the other teams um I'm a bit we have seen Zahira and Naomi
09:59heads a couple of times yeah Zahira and Naomi are an unlikely pairing they've fallen out multiple
10:04times during this competition I think they're gonna set UK and German relations back decades but I think
10:09they're both emotionally mature enough to hopefully bury that for totally a challenge I mean I hope they
10:15don't but for us anyway right how do you feel about like the other pairings because I feel like
10:21Fontana has been in the bottom for every comedy challenge but she is paired with Kate that's the
10:30thing Kate's gonna excel well I'm expecting Kate to do so well wait right in Snatch Game she didn't do
10:36as good yeah I thought she would yeah that's true yeah I think let's focus on us yeah it's more
10:41important that we do well and there's absolutely I'm more silly as a person I'm not a comedian no
10:47I'm not don't write jokes no same so this is the first challenge where I'm like I don't really sort
10:53of know what I'm doing this is the bad thing is I don't have like a banging idea yeah right

12:40also nominated for best newcomer that's amazing so I'm the perfect person to coach you through your
12:46double act and I'm very very intrigued as to why you have come on with a bucket so I haven't
12:53puked yet
12:56yes unfortunately I live with severe anxiety and I have been puking my way through this competition
13:01so this is something I would like to joke about anxiety is often a great subject for humor because
13:07it it's relatable there is an equation to comedy which is very famous which is tragedy plus time
13:13equals comedy so you've had a bit of distance from your tragic tragedy I'm taking notes well do you want
13:23to run through the things you've been thinking of let's do it hi I'm Fontana and I'm originally
13:28Brazilian but now I live in Sweden which means I love meatballs but only if they are completely waxed
13:37and I'm Kate Butch I'm from the north of England which means I'll take any balls I can get ah
13:42yeah
13:43great lovely playing with each other's differences but also where you relate to each other balls great
13:48I mean who doesn't love balls who doesn't love balls we've even got completely different star
13:52signs I'm a Gemini which means I have two faces and I'm a Leo which means nothing it's not real

14:00could have that as a little moment where you have like a fake little argument between the two of you
14:04and then straight back into the joke and that's kind of what we've got for the intro wise we've
14:07just got to fill out the the middle so you haven't got the middle yet so you've got any ideas

14:11might do we were thinking of exploring the differences between our cultures like there's a lot of ABBA we can
14:16do
14:16with Sweden yeah great gravy gravy gravy and ABBA the two genders I am nervous because we do not

14:36this challenge been um it started off challenging okay have you found it frustrating no no not at all well

14:43was finding it frustrating the worst thing you can do is ever show us that any of this affects

14:53the dynamics of your comedy partnership are we are kind of leaning into I've been doing drag for 25
15:00years and Godlin how long you've been doing just three years essentially what you're messing with in
15:06comedy terms it's straight man and then there's the fool that's next to the straight man yes great okay I
15:11love that do we have a little look at the jokes okay yeah all right so I'm so happy to

15:17here on the drag race stage and you know what to celebrate I think I'm gonna make you my drag

18:53having my very personal process of like working my mental health through this competition out there
19:01yesterday yeah it kind of clicked in my head I feel a lot freer yeah I feel a lot lighter

19:08can actually smile and mean it it is a very nice feeling and I think it's very crucial that this
19:14click is
19:15happening in the mindset now because if I want to go to the final I have to believe in myself
19:20I'm just
19:22gonna make sure that I do the bones and then you just go crazy and I'll bring us back in
19:28whenever we
19:29need to get really back in here this is teamwork RuPaul always loved me being me so I'm not that
19:36afraid
19:37with the script because I know that just me being crazy by myself it's funny enough who do you think
19:46will be in the bottom half because we're gonna be in the top half sorry but it's a hybrid just

19:58chippy tea so she really can't afford to be in the bottom because is somebody gonna give her the chippy

37:44what a hard challenge this was it's tough enough to come out and try to do comedy by yourself but

37:49be working with someone else is really hard and i didn't laugh very much but i felt like i was

37:55a good time and it was a clever idea just if you're going to do something high concept like that
38:00it's kind of got to be funnier in your case i felt like the jokes weren't there now that was

38:08the shtick i got it but it felt flat waiting for these jokes that never came i actually found that
38:15funny in itself i was laughing i wished you hadn't told me that you were out of your comfort zone

38:21up really isn't in my wheelhouse when you say that you're making everyone think we're not in safe
38:28hands and we were you know exactly what you're doing you're a great performer i thought your physical
38:33behavior was funny the two of you together but i wanted more laughs tonight for your reveal that head
38:40piece is so dramatic and gorgeous your makeup is so beautiful but the dress is like mid for me
38:46i think you look stunningly beautiful your face the headdress i wish some more of those gems could

40:57you were kind of the straight man in a way and goddamn was allowed to be the clown but because
41:01you were talking so much you just you needed more of the funny in there you missed a trick when

41:07went down into the splits and you got the wig stuck on your face and i thought bit of physical
41:13comedy
41:14getting out of the splits would have been so funny because your persona is so together in the runway
41:21it's not really a reveal it's opening a cloak in a challenge called reveal it's a bit you know may
41:28i take your coat that gray so understated but so glammed up i absolutely love this outfit not much
41:34of a reveal but it is a gorgeous outfit all right thank you thank you up next godlin i wouldn't

41:42that you had jokes but it was your energy and your voice and your reaction that made us laugh

41:53extraordinary because lots of beautiful people don't bother developing a personality but uh god

42:18but this time it obviously is very personal to you and you can tell how proud you are wearing it

43:38really likable double act and we felt safe because you know kate butch is funny it's what you do for

43:50you were absolutely brilliant yeah we were in safe hands with you and we knew we would be you know
43:54there was chemistry between you and fontana had you walked out and said listen uh for the people in the

44:04know where we're going with this right yeah but you got there yeah it was my suggestion to keep the
44:08bucket till the end so i do accept responsibility for the lack of buckets for that choice you will get

48:37stage for the fringe festival and also in the runway just because i'm potentially going to be lip-syncing
48:43does not mean i'm about to give away my spot in this competition i think it's really sad that me

48:51mariah may have to lip-sync against each other because obviously a big fan of you and you saved me
48:58last week it was so worth it i'm just so glad to have this experience with you baby regardless of

49:30starting with zahira the issue for me was that zahira felt like she didn't really know her place
49:36in the duo she admitted defeat before she'd even started i felt like they were hoping that their
49:41personalities could save them she did seem genuinely flustered in a way that naomi wasn't and then on
49:49the runway it was a real disappointment the peach thing was okay and then it revealed to the most
49:54basic dress and zahira is not basic yeah i agree because that fabric is very difficult to make look
50:00top drawer from the neck up it was stunning and then from the neck down she let herself down all

50:07let's talk about naomi naomi somehow seemed more grounded and more present and i trusted her more
50:12she had created a character at least she was listening she was reacting and it worked for me
50:18opener i didn't know her she never seemed like she was drowning she was in command whereas zahira was
50:27sort of just flailing but on the runway tonight oh my goodness it was just magical i love her
50:33physicality i love the expression on her face as these tears were streaming down it built and built
50:39and built it was like a night at the theater the story arc that she created was fantastic all right
50:44let's talk about mariah she's a great host i just needed some more comedy if you are going to talk

50:49much you've got to have some jokes in there you can't be the straight man the whole way through
50:52twirling and whirling around the world and i'm still fabulous it's a pleasure to watch her perform but
50:58she just wasn't funny godlin was funny mariah didn't leave enough room for that we wanted to
51:04see more of that tonight on the runway a reveal twas not but it was beautiful beautiful on another week
51:12but when the brief is reveal that is not it i thought she looked exquisite but it wasn't as dramatic

51:19everyone else all right let's move on to godlin we were all eating out of the palm of her hand

51:23she's just funny i must toss something in that it looks like trash i have a sneaking suspicion godlin's
51:30kind of a bit unproducible and that must be frustrating for mariah because godlin's getting
51:35all the laughs while mariah's doing all the work on the runway i loved it and she makes it look
51:40so regal
51:40but yet it's drag from sort of bangkok doll to that living goddess it was beautiful i don't know what
51:47they put in the water in bangkok but they turned out some fabulous queens just amazing all right
51:54fontana their synchronicity and timing was great which means she's the total countries around the
52:00world they did a great job they brought the bucket out yes kate said wait to the end but the

52:04should have been the third person in her duo so to speak i can see why kate butch resisted the

52:09this is kind of uh underwhelming that you're going to be upstaged yeah by a bucket
52:14bring on the bucket yeah i wish they'd a bucket ultimately they got there tonight on the runway
52:20the reveal was awesome that suit was amazing it was really spectacular i thought as a sort of
52:27performance piece it was just magnetic i agree it was a huge success it was so beautiful all right
52:34let's talk about kate butch for me kate butch was really the only true comedian on stage i look very
52:40tall
52:41and fontana looks very stupid i felt very safe in kate's hands they're smart they know how to
52:46deliver a joke tonight on the runway i love that kate is the one who actually knitted and crocheted
52:51that outfit that is remarkable i was so impressed by that final unraveling funny and spectacular how
52:58very kate butch i mean the color alone was such an odd choice but it actually worked they look gorgeous
53:04and hilarious and hilarious and i thought the knitted g-string was revolting and hilarious
