00:00The Homeland Security Minister acknowledged that the United States Embassy has detected a potential threat.
00:07However, he says, in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago government, the threat was thoroughly assessed and addressed.
00:15What I can tell you is this, it's not just the law enforcement agencies in and around Trinidad,
00:22but working alongside the Americans, we can say that the threats at this time, if you want to use the word neutralize, fine,
00:35but we want to say that the threats have been alleviated at this time.
00:42He also dismisses claims that the Prime Minister and other senior government officials had fled the country out of fear,
00:49calling such reports baseless.
00:52They were saying also that the AG, the Prime Minister, and the president was out of the country,
00:59the president was out of the country on holidays or some visit that she had.
01:05So that was quite normal and that was done long before because those documents have come and approved by government long before.
01:13So there was no there, there, other than what the social media was trying to put together.
01:22When asked whether the threat is connected to the wider geopolitical tensions among Trinidad and Tobago, the United States and Venezuela,
01:31the minister confirmed that it is.
01:33When persons have intentions of carrying out threats, you never know how far they will go.
01:39You see, so, yeah, I want to, I want to at least totally line with it at the same time,
01:45but it looked like it was coming from a particular direction and you, you might be right.
