The Homeland Security Minister says the Defence Minister is performing his duties in the face of death threats.

Minister Roger Alexander gave the public this assurance on Wednesday.

00:42Video by express photographer Jermaine Crookshang showed that while Minister Alexander was speaking with the media about one aspect of his job,
00:51he responded to a question about a cabinet colleague who is the subject of death threats,
00:55according to several media reports, and who has not been seen at public events since late last week,
01:02Defence Minister Wayne Sturge.

01:08At a recent UNC Monday night report, Prime Minister Kamla Pasad-Basasa identified,
01:13Local Government Minister Khadija Amin, Public Utilities Minister Barry Padarath,
01:18and URP Program Manager Feroz Khan as being the subject of threats due to what the Prime Minister called
01:24the government's crackdown on the state-funded CPEP and URP.
01:28On Tuesday, August 19th, the Express newspaper reported that there is a $2.8 million collective bounty plot
01:37against Minister Amin, Minister Padarath, URP Program Manager Khan, and Minister Sturge.
01:44Justice Minister Devesh Maraj told the media on Monday that there is grave concern by fellow ministers
01:51about Minister Sturge.
01:52Minister Alexander fielded a question from the media on Wednesday about whether the threat
01:57against Defence Minister Sturge in particular has been discussed by the Cabinet.
02:03We talk to each other every day. Every day we speak to each other.
02:07As I said before, there are some things I can say and some things I cannot.
02:11On Tuesday, Minister Amin told the media that she will not be deterred by any threats
02:17as she commended the advice, intelligence, and protection provided by state security services.
