00:00I will never wear these on stage, Grace, but you're the best.
00:02This is a K.K. Co. harness, essentially.
00:06You know, it's like a classy clown.
00:30Hey, this is Charity from the Hem the Heart, and we're currently on our Aputure tour, our
00:39new record that we just put out, which has felt amazing, and just simply the process
00:45of making the record is, you know, harkens back to how we formed in the process of making
00:54our first record, so in many ways, Aputure feels like a new chapter and a rebirth for
01:02the band, and it's been incredible to play these songs out and, you know, have the live
01:08real-time exchange with people who have been listening to the new record and also those
01:13who don't even, you know, know it yet, and having that live exchange has been powerful
01:18and amazing, and it's been awesome to be on the summer run.
01:22It's been really hot, which has affected, you know, wardrobe choices, of course, but
01:29it's been really amazing, and you can come check out my wardrobe.
01:35So some of my go-tos for just summer tour have been obviously lighter weight pieces, and
01:43I love Cordera.
01:45It's like a Spanish label.
01:47They have kind of one size fits, fits most sizing for their pants, and it's unisex typically
01:57too, and these are kind of like more, more of a balloon style kind of wider leg, and a little
02:07cropped, so you see the full ankle.
02:10And they're, these are pretty lightweight.
02:12I have so many different Cordera pants, including wool and linen, and a lot of like drop crotch.
02:20I really like the kind of that silhouette, and that's why I have a lot of Miyake pants
02:26that have a similar kind of drop crotch that feel breezy too.
02:30But my, my tour hack, my recent summer tour hack is, uh, is basically putting these in
02:37the wash and then putting them on right before stage and having wet pants.
02:44But you can't tell because of the perfect material that these are.
02:47I mean, it's just probably 100% cotton, but, um, and, and how it's not lined.
02:51But I love Cordera pants, and then as far as tops go, my go-to, so I worked, I discovered
02:59this amazing, um, originally Berlin LA designer, Desiree Klein, and she made these, these Doran
03:08jackets, and this is a very like well-worn silk version of the Doran that she custom made
03:12for me.
03:13And I had her make, I've had her make, make so many pants, kind of matching pant, Doran
03:19jacket suits.
03:21Um, and I sourced all the buttons and materials, and this was years ago.
03:27I was really inspired by organza material.
03:30And so I had her make a lot of those.
03:32And then also taffeta.
03:34So here's some other versions.
03:36And there's even a, there's even one of these jackets that she used to have on her site
03:39called the charity jacket after me.
03:41But I was really into two-tone for a while.
03:44Um, you can just see it's the same silhouette.
03:47Um, and have matching pants, which I have rarely worn.
03:51Um, just for, I don't like love the fit, and it's a lot of taffeta, um, sound.
03:58Um, but I used to have two-tone hair for a period of time.
04:02So yeah, this is, I mean, this is like a well-worn, um, summer silk jacket that I've used, you
04:10know, vent, venue laundry, cold, quick wash.
04:14But you can tell the silk is like, it's getting really worn.
04:18Yeah, I mean, I think just having really breathable, lightweight, um, and really, I, I tend to wear
04:26black off.
04:27It's either all black or crazy bright colors.
04:32Um, and I really love monochromatic.
04:35So black, if you're sweating, you can't really, you know, it doesn't really show up on stage,
04:40and it can get really intense, uh, just, you know, performance.
04:45Another go-to summer, summer top is actually this by Trois-Valant, which is like a young
04:51contemporary designer based in LA.
04:53I think she's still making things, um, but I actually have, I wear it backwards, so the
05:01ties are in the front.
05:01They're supposed to be in the back, but that feels even more breathable, and it just, it
05:05still has the same kind of, you know, sleeve, silhouette, um, princess sleeve, I guess you
05:11call this, and I love the kind of Edwardian collar, if that's what you, I love collars,
05:17and we'll get to my collar, my collar drawer.
05:21Um, and the last kind of fun go-to piece is a little, a little heavier duty cotton, but,
05:28um, this is by this incredible actual visual, she's actually a visual art artist, she's Persian
05:34and German, um, Miriam Kahani, I believe is how you pronounce it, and we've become friends
05:41just, you know, via online, she custom-made some pieces like this Piero, um, top, it's
05:48also matching pants, you know, it's like a French clown, which I think there's, I just
05:53love the kind of over-the-top, exaggerated nature of this, you know, it's like a classy
06:00clown, and, um, and I love how it crops.
06:05I really, you know, enjoy the kind of high-waisted balloon pant, drop crotch pant with a, with a
06:11cropped, relatively cropped top, um, those are many of my go-tos, I, for summer, I also
06:19have my collar drawer, it's, as you can see, it's so stuffed.
06:26And, um, KK Co is like, speaking of organza, make amazing collars, um, that I feel like
06:36just that, that exaggerated accessory, I also have two little kids, two little girls, and
06:41I will always put collars on them, and since they've discovered the wardrobe collar drawer,
06:47they, they basically, you know, put them on as, as dress-up, um, this is a taffeta, so
06:56as you can see, I kind of like, and this is silk, this is a, this is, um, from Desiree
07:00Klein, I made, I had her custom make some, some of these collars for me that tie in the
07:06front or the back, which I'm realizing I need to use pins or fashion tape, because when the
07:11movement on stage, it will kind of move the, you know, to the wrong segment, it will no longer
07:17be centered, so I still have a troubleshoot that pillow on.
07:20And then this is a KK Co, like, harness, essentially, which has come in handy when I wear dresses
07:28on stage, because without a belt, I need to be able to put my monitor pack on something,
07:36so this way you can put, you know, yeah, so this is the shoe drawer, which is kind of shared,
07:40um, these are amazing campers that are, like, Barbie shoes, and I've seen Solange use these,
07:46but, um, I just love the exaggerated, you know, they look like pretend shoes. These are Grace
07:53Potter's shoes, which she was, she put on a festival in Burlington, and she's so lovely,
07:58and that was our first time meeting, actually, and she gave me her shoes, which my four-year-old
08:03now is the one that wears these, um, I will never wear these on stage, Grace, but you're the best,
08:09and they're awesome. Um, and then my, my little, like, I use, I have such a boot collection typically,
08:17but my go-to are just these Reebok kicks that are very well loved, and then I love, I have
08:22darner socks that are, you know, these kind of see-through, shiny, metallic silhouettes. I have so
08:27many different kinds, and Mari Mecco, I love just squiggle patterning. Um, thank you so much for,
08:35um, spending time. I wish we had more time. There'll be maybe to be continued, um, but check out our new
08:41record, Aperture, and I've got to run.
