00:00If you lace your corset with bunny ears, then you can put it on yourself.
00:03I used to wear heels on stage quite a lot, and I have fallen off them, and I'm not doing it anymore.
00:08I was jumping around so much that I actually bruised my ribs quite severely.
00:30Hey, it's Hayla, and you're just backstage with me in Chicago at Outset.
00:44And I'm just here to show you some of the outfits that I've been wearing on stage recently on my solo tour.
00:50So I've been working with my incredible stylist, Bo, Tiger Ray, for about two, maybe three years now.
00:56And a lot of my outfits and my inspiration and the way that I kind of found myself and my style and my creativity,
01:02my love for playing with fashion really came from starting to work with him.
01:05So I have to say a huge thank you to Bo, who also introduced me to the amazing designers that I've worked with
01:11and had so many incredible outfits with for the last couple of tours that I've done and hopefully in the future as well.
01:17So I think being able to feel like you have license to play and feel like it is for you,
01:22and you can have dopamine dressing and find yourself within fashion and play.
01:26It's for everybody and it's for you, and Bo made me realize that.
01:29So thank you so much, Bo, Tiger Ray.
01:31The first piece I really want to show you actually is one of my favorites
01:34and the very first piece that I've had made for myself for stage, I've had the odd piece,
01:39which I also have in here, one of the first kind of jumpsuits, which I'll show you shortly.
01:43But this was by The Incredible Beryl Octum, a designer based out of London, an incredible bodice that actually,
01:52I'll pull it off here actually.
01:53Oh!
01:54So if you can see it's a boned corset, but then my shoulders do go here,
01:59so it's actually like the neck of the garment is kind of haloed almost around my neck area,
02:05and it sort of sits quite high up on my back, so it's corseted.
02:09Great thing about this though, by the way, if anybody hasn't done this before,
02:12if you lace your corset with bunny ears, then you can put it on yourself.
02:16I mean, sometimes you can do it where you put a corset on the front and then twist it round,
02:20but if you make bunny ears, if you lace it like that,
02:22so thank you Beryl for doing that for me, because otherwise, yeah, I would be stuck all the time.
02:27So, yeah, so this is the top half of the garment, if I'm calling it quite weird.
02:33So, I think, I have worked with Beryl before, but I've actually worn her garments before,
02:37and like I say, I've never had one made for me specifically.
02:40So there was a piece that she'd made, and it was one that I wore on,
02:44I think it was Deadmau5's show at the Mirage in New York, and it was one that I loved.
02:49It was called the Business Time dress.
02:51That dress had, I'll show you the skirt part of this, have these incredibly built-in hips.
02:57So the way that this garment is, I don't think you can probably see it like this,
03:01but it's got built-in hips, and then the material actually flows like panels on either side.
03:07So when I move on stage, I really like to have, like, my legs free.
03:12But then also, see if you can see that, I'll try and mimic ground for me, there you go.
03:15So it's two big pieces of material either side, so I can pull them up, really play with them.
03:20What we've tried to kind of work towards with this stage show and performance
03:25is really trying to bring in fashion into the aesthetic of the show as well.
03:28So it was important for me to have a material that was really lightweight for one,
03:32so I could move it round, but also a kind of silk texture that would reflect the light quite nicely.
03:38So when we've got the production shining against it, I'm able to move it around quite nicely,
03:42and then also hopefully it catches in a nice way so you get a good, I don't know,
03:47just a nice, light, flowy, but also quite an arty look, I think.
03:52I love it.
03:53And underneath it's got a gauze underneath as well, so it's layered and actually has a skirt top,
04:00but then layered through, so it adds a little bit more dimension as well.
04:03And then the back is just a simple zip, but then, yeah, it goes into, like, the mini skirt section of the actual outfit.
04:11So it was something that Beryl had already made that I'd been fortunate enough to be able to learn off her,
04:18and we sort of went from there, really, and I just implicitly trusted to be able to kind of, you know,
04:22I love her designs, and it was just, yeah, I'm really honoured to be able to work with her, so, yeah.
04:29So also the great thing about this outfit is that because it's two-piece I can mix and match,
04:34and that, for me on the road, because I'm from the UK, if nobody knew, I don't live in the States,
04:38but I do make my way out to, you know, the States and Canada, and also recently Mexico.
04:43So being lightweight with my case really makes a big difference, considering these pieces are quite large.
04:50So I do have mix and match items.
04:52I like thrifting as well, and I also like getting second-hand.
04:56If I can get second-hand designer pieces, pieces that maybe are from a few years ago.
05:02Yeah, I found this piece from 2017, I think it is.
05:06It's a Comme de Gasson jacket, which I haven't worn yet, but I got it from the RealReal.
05:11Ta-da!
05:13So, yeah, shopping second-hand I think is really cool as well,
05:16because you find some things that you probably wouldn't find if you were looking for the brand new.
05:21So this piece I haven't worn just yet, but I might wear it tonight, actually.
05:26It's a Comme de Gasson jacket, which is made up of faux leather,
05:31and then also stitched in line with this beautiful pattern.
05:35It's like sort of floral faux leather stitching with a padded sleeve effect.
05:44So it's got a little button.
05:45So I might wear that, and I can wear that also with that skirt.
05:48So again, it's kind of a mix and match thing.
05:50So it feels a bit more like I'm getting the most out of my case with that.
05:54Other than that, I have another piece that I've been wanting to wear.
06:00So there's a Rick Owens dress that I bought as well.
06:07So this one is just, excuse me, I haven't steamed it, should be steamed.
06:16This is a Rick Owens garment.
06:18It's just a really lightweight silk and mixed chiffon slip dress,
06:23which I love wearing jumpsuits again because I can move around on stage.
06:27A lot of the time it's a lot of PVC, some latex, because it really captures the lights.
06:32And I think it kind of adds to the sort of, even though my colour palette is always the same,
06:36because black is my favourite colour.
06:38But I do tend to kind of like to mix up different textures.
06:42And you know, I think it just adds to like being able to play with the texture of the material.
06:47So if it's a bit reflective, then it captures the light.
06:49So I wear this with maybe a PVC jumpsuit underneath as well.
06:54Other than that, I'll show you another thing.
06:57I've got this head.
07:00This piece I've worn a lot.
07:02So yeah, this piece is by Izzy Miyake.
07:04It's a please, please piece.
07:06And the most amazing thing about this, as I was saying before,
07:08apart from obviously having the material have like a bit of maybe a reflective quality to it.
07:13Also, this is non-iron, which is incredible.
07:16So I can just pull it out of my case and it's great.
07:18But it also allows me to make it into a few different garments.
07:22So the greatest thing about this is that it can be a cape.
07:25It can be a dress.
07:26It can be a top.
07:27And because it's multi-leveled as well.
07:29So it's got a really long section at the back and then the front is quite short.
07:34But you can also switch it around and also wrap it around your waist.
07:37So it's just, it's a really, really handy piece of clothing that I have in my gig bag.
07:43And I just always take it with me.
07:45I think I've worn this, I don't know, more times than I can count now.
07:49But it's, I think apart from obviously the one that I just have made,
07:52I think that this is definitely one of my favourite things that I've ever purchased.
07:54And I did buy this brand new.
07:56So this one wasn't a thrift, but I do love a thrift.
07:58So the next thing that I'll show you.
08:02This next piece as well actually is one of my favourite jumpsuits that I got made.
08:07This one was made for me as well.
08:09So as far as it goes for, that was my first dress, but this was my first suit.
08:13This was made by the incredible Bee Caller.
08:16We've worked together on a number of occasions now as well.
08:19And I actually wore this with the dress that inspired this look by Beryl.
08:24So kind of like a perfect little partnership.
08:27But I thoroughly, I love wearing this because it's very, again, very comfortable.
08:32Has like a nice bit of reflective material and then also a little bit of sparkle in there.
08:36So it's just, yeah, it's one of my favourites.
08:40And I think, I think I need to ask for another one to be made.
08:42So Bee Caller, I'm going to get in touch.
08:44This needs to be a, yeah, one of two, I think.
08:49So yeah, I mean, my wardrobe changes as I go because this is my second leg of this tour.
08:56I've been out for, I would have been out for about four weeks in total, I think it would have been.
09:00So I went home in the middle for Thanksgiving and then changed over my gig bag.
09:04So I do have a mixture of outfits that I circulate and I work with many different art designers.
09:10So, and artists, because designers are artists.
09:13Iris Yang is one artist that I was working with, my designer had been working with.
09:17And I wore that last, I think it was my very first gig that I did in San Diego.
09:23And that was actually red.
09:24Usually I only end up having the same colour palette, but sometimes the little popper colour's good.
09:28So yeah, that's my, that's my outfits that I have with me at the moment.
09:32So, as I said before, I'm from the UK, which means that I fly a lot.
09:36And it's great because I do love flying, but also I do kind of make sure that my day-to-day wear is extremely comfortable to be able to do so.
09:43If my flights run from like 11 hours plus, sometimes I need to make sure that I'm in something that doesn't feel too restrictive.
09:49As much as my stage outfits are probably a bit more restrictive, I do like to have more comfortable wear for my day-to-day.
09:56So hoodies are a must.
09:59This is a little cropped one, but actually having a hood that goes over my face, and this one does, it's very good.
10:05Because I don't like an eye mask as much as I probably should.
10:08So I get big jumpers.
10:10These are quite comfy as well.
10:12I usually wear more comfortable tracksuit bottoms, but these are really comfy.
10:17And then just some trainers.
10:18Instead of wearing boots that I've got to lace off.
10:20So these are just some Osiris D3s from early 2000s.
10:24But they've reissued them, thank God, because I used to have them back when I was younger.
10:28I'm not going to give away my age.
10:30But yeah, they're just, I think, I think wearing something that I can move around in as well,
10:34because this is quite cropped.
10:36If it gets hot on the plane, it's never going to be too much, you know.
10:40But I fly in between my gigs quite a lot as well.
10:43So this tour that we're doing, it's not a bus tour, it's actually flights.
10:46So I have just flown in today from Cancun, which was incredible.
10:51But yeah, I kind of wanted to wear something that was a little bit more floaty and a bit more comfy for that.
10:57So the boots.
10:59So I classically stick to a pair of boots for a while because I just think that I get quite comfortable with them on stage.
11:06I used to wear heels on stage quite a lot.
11:09I have worn five inch heels and I have fallen off them and I'm not doing it anymore.
11:13So I've decided, flat forms are the way to go.
11:16So these are my favourite Demonia's at the moment.
11:19Shout out to Demonia for making some amazing gig wearable shoes.
11:23I love to have a little bit of height as well.
11:26I think when I'm wearing long garments like this, we usually cut them to the height for this kind of wedge for me.
11:32Because I just always stick to this.
11:34There's also another pair of Demonia's that I really like.
11:37And I think I'm going to have to email you Demonia because you've stopped making them.
11:40And they're my favourite.
11:42But these ones, these ones apart from them, these I've had for this run and they've been amazing.
11:47So I think I'm going to have to buy another pair in case they go as well.
11:50So yeah, favourite shoes, Demonia's.
11:53So, this is my little accessories pouch.
11:56I probably should have something a bit better.
11:59So yeah, I'll go through what I have.
12:01The first thing that I have is a new one.
12:04I bought this as a gift to myself.
12:06Because why not?
12:07You've got to treat yourself everywhere again.
12:09This is actually a wallet chain.
12:13Yeah.
12:14And it's from Bond Hardware.
12:16I don't know if you can see that or not.
12:18I think they're based out of New York.
12:20But the greatest thing about this is actually like, it's quite, I wrap it around.
12:24So, it kind of just, yeah.
12:29It just gives like a nice little bit of an edge to it.
12:33That one's one of my favourites.
12:34I just bought that one recently.
12:36The one that I wear the most though, has a bit of a story behind it.
12:40One of my best friends let me borrow this necklace and I absolutely loved it.
12:44And I ended up wearing it probably, she said it was on long term loan.
12:49But I felt bad about wearing it so much.
12:51So I bought another one to give her that back.
12:54And bought one for myself.
12:55Told her why.
12:56She said, don't tell her.
12:57So I was like, oh.
12:58So now I have two.
12:59So I basically, I bought these two.
13:03There's one, they're both from Paco Rabanne.
13:06They probably need a polish.
13:08So I'm extremely sorry about that.
13:09But I wear these all the time.
13:10And they are, it is two of them that I've just linked together.
13:13But again, love a wrappable chain it seems.
13:16I don't know.
13:17This one is my favourite.
13:19And it's really chunky.
13:20And yeah, to anyone asking, it is quite heavy.
13:23But it's, yeah.
13:24It's an all faithful.
13:25And I've had it, I think, pretty much for every live gig that I've done this year and
13:30last year.
13:31So, yeah.
13:32Firm, firm favourite.
13:33And the next one that I have, I'll show you my bracelets in a minute as well.
13:37Because this links onto that.
13:38But there's a brand that's, I think, based on Carnaby Street in London, in Soho, called
13:45The Great Frog.
13:46They have shops in LA and New York and I think Hong Kong.
13:51But my dad got me this.
13:53I've been admiring it for some time.
13:55And I, I don't know.
13:56I couldn't, I don't know.
13:57I couldn't bring myself to buy it.
13:58Because I was a bit like, I've just bought that one.
14:01And I, yeah.
14:02So he got me this for my birthday present.
14:04And it is a locket.
14:07So it's a, yeah, sterling silver locket.
14:10And again, it's really heavy.
14:11I wore it for Chicago Pride, actually.
14:13The last time I was in Chicago, I wore this on stage.
14:16And I was jumping around so much that I actually bruised my ribs quite severely.
14:22But it was worth it.
14:23So, yeah.
14:24It's, it is very heavy.
14:25So I don't really wear that on stage much anymore because it hurts.
14:30Even though I love it.
14:31But, yeah.
14:32So moving on from that one, I do have a few more Great Frog pieces.
14:36I don't work for them.
14:37But, you know, shout out to Great Frog.
14:39If anyone wants any great silver or gold jewelry, they do some amazing stuff.
14:43So, I'll go through these ones first.
14:46This one is a piece that I got when I was 21 years old.
14:49So, you know, that was last year.
14:51Ha!
14:52And then this is a piece that was made by The Great Frog as well, which is a beautiful sterling
15:01silver piece that I absolutely love.
15:03It does pull on things though, so it kind of ruins things every now and again.
15:06This other one is another piece from The Great Frog.
15:12It's like two little panthers.
15:14And then this chain I had since I was 18.
15:18And it's one that my mum's sister, that unfortunately we lost before I was born.
15:23But this was hers.
15:24I was always really scared to wear it, but I put a good safety chain on it.
15:28So, I wear that now.
15:30And this one here is from AMC Monaco.
15:33And my best friends after my first gig at the Roxy in LA bought me this as a present
15:40to say congratulations for doing it.
15:42So, I kind of, my bracelets are always a little bit more sentimental I suppose.
15:47But, yeah.
15:48This is, it's classic this, isn't it?
15:51This is my life.
15:52This is inside my head.
15:54So, a lot of my makeup actually, I don't know if anyone knows.
15:58Yeah, I'm vegan.
15:59So, I try and stick to kind of like makeup brands as well that kind of run with that sort of ethos.
16:04Or if it's a makeup brand that does a vegan side, I try and vote with my wallet and buy that.
16:09And I know there's mixed ideas about that, whether it's a good thing or not.
16:12But, I really like Charlotte Tilbury stuff.
16:15Charlotte Tilbury does a lot of vegan makeup.
16:17So, I tend to use quite a lot of her makeup range.
16:22This, I've noticed for gigging actually, for me.
16:25Sorry, I'll clean it up a little bit.
16:26It's been amazing.
16:27It's a long lasting foundation.
16:29I've been using this actually, I use it in daily life as well.
16:33I have a lighter coverage one, but I do use this one for shows.
16:36Because it just seems to last really well.
16:39So, if anyone's looking for a long lasting foundation, that's a really good one.
16:44I also then use the palette.
16:48This is, this is so gig ready this.
16:50So, this palette basically, it's a perfect example of how you should probably keep your things clean.
16:56But this is a great contour and also the highlight, which I don't use a lot.
16:59But again, Charlotte Tilbury, very good.
17:03And I always, I'm really into scents.
17:06So, there's more in there.
17:08There is more in there, but it's a mess.
17:11So, but it's all mainly Charlotte Tilbury that I wear.
17:14And then, yeah, just a few little bits and box.
17:18My perfume, however, I'm really into scents.
17:21And I've been on the journey to try and find my scent for a while.
17:25And I've fallen on this one at the moment.
17:27This one is by Le Labo and it's called Loire 29.
17:31Honestly, it's probably the most beautiful autumnal scent that I've ever smelt.
17:36I, it really lasts.
17:38This one's a great travel one as well that I just pop in my bag.
17:41I don't have to worry about liquid smashing in my case and ruining everything.
17:44So, this is one of my favourites at the moment.
17:47And yeah, always comes with me when I'm on the road because it's a perfect little travel size.
17:51So, yeah.
17:52So, thank you so much for checking out the video.
17:54I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you enjoyed my wardrobe.
