00:00:30Good morning, my dear brothers and sisters, and welcome on this 29th Ordinary Sunday.
00:00:51Let's begin with our morning praise found on page B9 of your White Pew prayer books.
00:00:58Page B9.
00:01:00O Lord, open my lips.
00:01:03O God of love and mercy, grant us with all your people rest and peace.
00:01:11Great is the Lord, worthy of all praise. Amen.
00:01:15Praise and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honor, power and might be to our God forever and ever. Amen.
00:01:23Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge.
00:01:34In the shadow of your wings I will take refuge until the destroying storms pass by.
00:01:41I cry to God, most high, to God who fulfills his purpose for me.
00:01:46He will send from heaven and save me.
00:01:49He will put to shame those who trample on me.
00:01:52God will send forth his steadfast love and his faithfulness.
00:01:57Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
00:02:00Amen.
00:02:00I watch this morning for the light that the darkness has not overcome.
00:02:10I watch for the fire that was in the beginning, that burns still in the brilliance of the rising sun.
00:02:19I watch for the glow of life that gleams in growing earth and glistens in sea and sky.
00:02:25I watch for your light, O God, in the eyes of every living creature and in the eve-living flame of my own soul.
00:02:33If the grace we're seeing were mine this day, I would glimpse you in all that lives.
00:02:39Grant me the grace of seeing this day.
00:02:42Grant me the grace of seeing.
00:02:44A reading taken from the beginning of the Gospel according to St. John.
00:02:50In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
00:02:55He was with God in the beginning.
00:02:57Through him all things were made.
00:02:59Without him nothing was made that has been made.
00:03:02In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.
00:03:07The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
00:03:12This is the Word of the Lord.

00:08:48It'll pop into my head eventually,
00:08:50but let us now rise and begin our worship with song.
00:08:54To Thee we come, O Lord our God,
00:09:12Before Thine altar, Father,

00:09:52But that we enter in the strife,
00:09:57Christ's kingdom to engender.
00:10:03Lift up from sin Thy people, Lord,
00:10:08And strengthen us, O Father,
00:10:13Bless our toil.
00:10:15Under Thy cross we stand prepared
00:10:21To serve Thee with devotion,
00:10:26Be it with sweat of blood or tears,
00:10:32Or humble resignation.
00:10:35For we Thy people are, O Lord,
00:10:43Save us, O God,
00:10:46O Father, bless our toil.
00:10:50Good morning, my dear brothers and sisters.
00:10:55On this 29th Ordinary Sunday,
00:10:59Jesus talks to us about the necessity of perseverance in prayer.
00:11:04Today our church also celebrates Heritage Sunday.
00:11:07We celebrate the heritage of each and every member of our church,
00:11:12And with that remembrance of our heritages,
00:11:16We remember that essential aspect of prayer
00:11:20That must be part of our own heritage.
00:11:24Our Holy Mass today is offered for all of our parishioners,
00:11:28All of our members,
00:11:29All those who find their home of faith here with us.
00:11:32Today's Holy Mass in contemporary rite
00:11:34Found on page 63 of the Tan Pugh Missal.
00:11:38In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
00:11:42Lord, bless us with the wisdom to praise you in spirit and in truth,
00:11:46So that by following your holy will,
00:11:48We may gain eternal salvation.
00:11:51My dear brothers and sisters,
00:11:53Let's now pause to confess our sins to God,
00:11:57To complete our examination of conscience
00:11:59Begun before Holy Mass,
00:12:02And with that examination of conscience,
00:12:05Seek God's forgiveness,
00:12:06So we may participate with true sincerity in this holy sacrifice.
00:12:14How we called our sinfulness in seeking reconciliation with God and each other,
00:12:36Let us now recite the second form of the confitier as our confession.
00:12:40I confess to Almighty God,
00:12:44In the presence of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
00:12:46All the saints and you,
00:12:48My brothers and sisters,
00:12:49That I have sinned through my own fault,
00:12:52In my thoughts,
00:12:54In my words,
00:12:55In what I have done or failed to do,
00:12:57I ask the Blessed Virgin Mary,
00:13:00All the saints and you,
00:13:01My brothers and sisters,
00:13:03To pray for me to the Lord our God.
00:13:06As an act of penance for our sinfulness,
00:13:08Let us offer up a Hail Mary this evening,
00:13:11During this month of the Holy Rosary,
00:13:14For our own prayer life,
00:13:16That it may be with perseverance,
00:13:20Dedication,
00:13:21And true devotion.
00:13:23May Almighty God have mercy on us,
00:13:25Forgive us our sins,
00:13:26And bring us to everlasting life.
00:13:28May our Lord Jesus Christ absolve you,
00:13:31With his authority vested in me,
00:13:32I absolve you from all your sins,
00:13:34In the name of the Father,
00:13:36And of the Son,
00:13:37And of the Holy Spirit.
00:13:38Amen.
00:13:43Love the Lord,
00:13:44All you faithful,
00:13:46The Lord protects the loyal,
00:13:49I will ever praise your name,
00:13:51And be constant in my prayers to you,
00:13:54Thereupon the Lord heard my voice,
00:13:57He listened to my appeal,
00:14:00Glory be to the Father,
00:14:01And to the Son,
00:14:02And to the Holy Spirit,
00:14:03As it was at the beginning,
00:14:05It is now and it shall be,
00:14:07World without end.
00:14:08Amen.
00:14:12Lord have mercy,
00:14:18Christ have mercy,
00:14:26Glory to God in the highest,
00:14:46And peace to his people on earth,
00:14:48Lord God,

00:15:44The Lord be with you,
00:15:49And also with you,
00:15:52Let us pray,
00:15:56Almighty Father,
00:15:58In your holy word,
00:16:00You have taught us about the necessity
00:16:02To pray always without becoming weary,
00:16:06You hear us when we call upon you,
00:16:09Help us to persist in our prayers,
00:16:12And grant us patience to await your reply,
00:16:17We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ,
00:16:20Your Son,
00:16:21Who lives and reigns with you
00:16:23And the Holy Spirit,
00:16:24One God,
00:16:26Forever and ever,
00:16:28Amen.
00:16:32Let us now be seated
00:16:34And attentive to the Lord's word.
00:16:36Our first reading this morning
00:16:57is on the book of Exodus.
00:16:59In those days,
00:17:03Amalek came and waged war against Israel.
00:17:08Moses, therefore, said to Joshua,
00:17:11Pick out certain men,
00:17:12And tomorrow go out and engage Amalek in battle.
00:17:17I will be standing on top of the hill
00:17:19With the staff of God in my hand.
00:17:22So Joshua did as Moses told him.
00:17:26He engaged Amalek in battle.
00:17:29After Moses had climbed to the top of the hill
00:17:31With Aaron and Hur.
00:17:33As long as Moses kept his hands raised up,
00:17:37Israel had the better of the fight.
00:17:40But when he left his hands rest,
00:17:43Amalek had the better of the fight.
00:17:46Moses' hands, however, grew tired.
00:17:48So they put a rock in place for him to sit on.
00:17:52Meanwhile, Aaron and Hur supported his hands,
00:17:56One on one side and one on the other,
00:17:59So that his hands remained steady till sunset.
00:18:03And Joshua mowed down Amalek and his people
00:18:06With the edge of the sword.
00:18:09This is the word of the Lord.
00:18:11Thanks be to God.
00:18:12Our response this morning,
00:18:14Our help is from the Lord
00:18:16Who made heaven and earth.
00:18:19Our help is from the Lord
00:18:21Who made heaven and earth.
00:18:24I lift up my eyes toward the mountains.
00:18:27Whence shall help come to me?
00:18:30Help is from the Lord
00:18:32Who made heaven and earth.
00:18:35Our help is from the Lord
00:18:38Who made heaven and earth.
00:18:40May he not suffer your foot to slip.
00:18:44May he slumber not,
00:18:45Who guards you.
00:18:47Indeed, he neither slumbers nor sleeps,
00:18:50The guardian of Israel.
00:18:52Our help is from the name of the Lord
00:18:55Who made heaven and earth.
00:18:57The Lord is your guardian.
00:19:00The Lord is your shade.
00:19:02He is beside you at your right hand.
00:19:05The sun shall not harm you by day,
00:19:07Nor the moon by night.
00:19:10Our help is from the Lord
00:19:12Who made heaven and earth.
00:19:15The Lord will guard you from all evil.
00:19:18He will guard your life.
00:19:20The Lord will guard your coming
00:19:22And your going,
00:19:23Both now and forever.
00:19:27Our help is from the Lord
00:19:28Who made heaven and earth.
00:19:30Our second reading is from the letter
00:19:37Of St. Paul to Timothy.
00:19:40Beloved,
00:19:42Remain faithful
00:19:43To what you have learned and believed,
00:19:47Because you know from whom you learned it,
00:19:49And that from infancy
00:19:51You have known the sacred scriptures,
00:19:54Which are capable of giving you
00:19:56Wisdom for salvation
00:19:57Through faith in Jesus Christ.
00:20:00All scripture is inspired by God
00:20:03And is useful for teaching,
00:20:06For refutation,
00:20:07For correction,
00:20:08And for training in righteousness,
00:20:10So that one who belongs to God
00:20:13May be competent,
00:20:15Equipped for every good work.
00:20:16I charge you
00:20:18In the presence of God
00:20:20And Christ Jesus,
00:20:22Who will judge the living and the dead,
00:20:24And by his appearing
00:20:26And his kingly power,
00:20:28Proclaim the word,
00:20:30Be persistent,
00:20:32Whether it is convenient
00:20:33Or inconvenient,
00:20:35Convince,
00:20:36Reprimand,
00:20:37Encourage through all
00:20:39Patience and teaching.
00:20:41This is the word of the Lord.
00:20:43Thanks be to God.
00:20:45Please rise.
00:21:03Alleluia,
00:21:08Alleluia,
00:21:11Alleluia,
00:21:15Alleluia,
00:21:18Alleluia,
00:21:22Alleluia,
00:21:25Will he then delight in the Almighty
00:21:28And call upon him constantly?
00:21:31Alleluia,
00:21:35Alleluia,
00:21:38Alleluia,
00:21:39Alleluia.
00:21:47May the Lord be my heart
00:21:48and my lips
00:21:49and my worldly proclaims
00:21:50holy gospel
00:21:50through Jesus Christ our Lord.
00:21:52Amen.
00:21:56The Lord be with you.
00:21:58A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Luke. Glory be to you, O Lord.
00:22:05Jesus told his disciples a parable about the necessity for them to pray always without
00:22:13becoming weary. He said, there was a judge in a certain town who neither feared God nor respected
00:22:21any human being. And a widow in that town used to come to him and say, render a just decision for
00:22:29me against my adversary. For a long time the judge was unwilling, but eventually he thought,
00:22:35while it is true that I neither fear God nor respect any human being, because this widow keeps
00:22:42bothering me, I shall deliver a just decision for her, lest she finally come and strike me.
00:22:48The Lord said, pay attention to what the dishonest judge says. Will not God then secure the rights
00:22:56of his chosen ones who call out to him day and night? Will he be slow to answer them? I tell
00:23:04you, he will see to it that justice is done for them speedily. But when the Son of Man comes,
00:23:10will he find faith on earth? This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise be to you, O Lord Jesus Christ.
00:23:20Come Holy Ghost, creator blessed, and in our hearts take up thy wrath. Come with thy grace and heavenly
00:23:48mercy. To fill the hearts which thou hast made. To fill the hearts which thou hast made.
00:24:02Will not God then secure the rights of his chosen ones who cry out to him day and night? In the name of
00:24:26the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. So I double-checked. It is 10 weeks now.
00:24:3210 weeks of our guide to right living, which is found, of course, in Holy Scripture, in our Bibles.
00:24:39God is teaching us how we are to live. And what we've covered over these 10 weeks include the following,
00:24:46and I broke these down by bullet points because the paragraph was getting really long.
00:24:51We've discussed our call in our guide to good living, our call to love. That comes first. To put our faith
00:25:00on full display, like we did yesterday. We were out in the public, rendering service, volunteering,
00:25:07and talking to people about our faith. To be resolved in all we do. That is, to be sure of what our faith is.
00:25:17To be honest, not just nice. To discipline ourselves. To place our faith and trust in Jesus Christ,
00:25:26whose teachings are meant for us. To exhibit faith in big and small ways. It's not having to do glorious and
00:25:36magnificent things, but it is always in the small things we do where we touch people's lives.
00:25:42To have humility and charity, of course. To properly count what is important. You know, in our lives we get
00:25:50confused. We say, well, this is important, and this is important, this is important. You know, I've been going and
00:25:56going and going, and sometimes you have to slow down and stop and say, what's really important here?
00:26:02You. You. You're what's important. To forgive. To love. To be smart about our faith. That is, to be wise.
00:26:15And to stay simple, right? We don't have to be complex theologians and philosophers and be able to
00:26:22explain the mysteries of the universe. All we need to say is that we have faith. That's simple enough.
00:26:27That's common sense. To realize that there are eternal consequences when things go off the rails
00:26:35for us. When we make bad decisions, there's consequences to those. And that's why we need
00:26:41the sacrament of penance each and every week. Bring our failings before God to ask for his forgiveness
00:26:48and to receive that reconciliation from him. To see the power we have. We have actual power.
00:26:57People say, oh, I have no power. Who am I? Right? Well, we have God-given power. Right? We have a power
00:27:03that goes beyond any human understanding. And to be here. To be in the house of the Lord at all times.
00:27:14We see three different vignettes today about prayer. Right? Three different ways that prayer is conveyed to us.
00:27:25The first is Moses holding up his hands in holy prayer. As they say in the song, hold up holy hands
00:27:33in prayer. Right? He holds up his hands as God had directed him to do. God told him, if you go up,
00:27:40you go on the mountain, you hold up your hands in prayer, then Israel is going to have the advantage
00:27:46in the fight against Amalek. Right? But if you let your hands down, if you don't persist, if you get
00:27:53too tired, Amalek's going to have the advantage. Jesus's parable about the persistent widow
00:28:04is also very telling. Again, she is persistent in her prayer. And she is persistent in a situation
00:28:12where there was a disparity of power. Right? Who was she? She was just a widow. She was just nobody,
00:28:19according to the world. This judge, who neither feared God nor anyone, was powerful. Right? He had
00:28:27accumulated power by not fearing anyone. He basically rode roughshod over everything. Yet because of her
00:28:35persistence, she was heard. And she was rewarded. Of course, as he always does, St. Paul brings all of
00:28:45this together. He's writing to Timothy and he says, be persistent, whether it is convenient or inconvenient.
00:28:55We get confused. We think to ourselves, well, prayer, that means I got to stop. I got to sit down. I got to
00:29:05take, there's, there's dishes to be done. And I got to go to the store and, and there's, I got to call my
00:29:11friend and we got to go out. Whether convenient or inconvenient, do not give up on prayer. Right? Because
00:29:18we can pray as we're walking. We can pray as we're doing the dishes. We can pray, especially when we're
00:29:23driving. Right? When it gets worse and worse. But, you know, be persistent, whether it's convenient or
00:29:30inconvenient. Don't let things get in the way of prayer. Paul is telling Timothy, he's reiterating
00:29:40the fact that persistent prayer is taught to us, not by Paul, not by Moses, but it's taught to us by God.
00:29:50God himself is telling us what we must do, that we must be persistent in our prayer. Paul says,
00:29:57you know from whom you learned it. And it's right there in scripture. Jesus telling us to be persistent
00:30:04in prayer. Our guide to right living tells us to be strong. Strength allows us to stand against the
00:30:14driving negativity of the world. Right? The world has a driving negativity. Everyone wants,
00:30:22not everyone, but the world, people of the world, they want destruction. They want to break everything
00:30:29down. They want to destroy what God has given, what God has provided.
00:30:37They do not believe and they do not care. Will we allow them to deter us from God, to question
00:30:51his faithfulness toward us? You know, the people of the world will say, going to church, praying,
00:30:59what are you doing? Let's go play cards. Let's go drink. We'll have a better time. Whatever the agenda
00:31:08is, whatever their agenda is, must stand against it. We must never fail to trust in the faithfulness
00:31:21of God who will hear us and will answer us. We also remember that our very lives, our well-being,
00:31:32that of our communities, this house of faith, all of the good that we have comes because we pray.
00:31:42At the clergy conference, I told the clergy gather, the bishops and fathers, seniors and priests and
00:31:48deacons that. I said, why are we having an increase in vocations? Why are men coming to the seminary?
00:31:55It's not because they just happen to trip over the Savin' Roll of Theological Seminary and say,
00:32:00oh look, there's a place there. I'm going to go there. Absolutely not. It's because of prayer.
00:32:06It's because prayer works and because we pray for that. And God answers.
00:32:11Our world depends on prayer. And the right outcomes in the world depend on our prayer.
00:32:22There's many who say this. And you see these memes out there. People know what memes are.
00:32:29It's little sayings people throw up on the internet. And literally, I mean throw up sometimes.
00:32:35They put them out there and they say these things that seem, oh, that's such a nice thing to say.
00:32:40Right? One of them that's out there kind of goes like this. You will not impact the world by faithfully
00:32:47going to church. You will not impact the world by faithfully going to church, rather by being the
00:32:56church in the world. And you say, well, that sounds kind of right, doesn't it? If I go out and I'm the
00:33:03church in the world and I can impact things, that's a great thing. It's a false dichotomy.
00:33:10It's a false dichotomy. It's people telling you, don't go to church. That's where they start.
00:33:18Don't go to church. Don't be faithful. It's not worth it. You're wasting your time.
00:33:24We can't change the world. We can't be that change in the world through our prayer life unless we come
00:33:31here first and worship God, rightly worship Him, pray to Him, offer Him our thanksgiving sacrifice
00:33:41offering. That's what we do here. It starts here. That's why this is a false dichotomy.
00:33:49Faithfully, faithfully going to church does matter. It is important. It's essential because it is the
00:33:57seed from which that blossom in the world grows. We can't go out there and be church unless we are
00:34:05church. And that starts right here. Don't get caught up in the world's false dichotomies.
00:34:13pray. Pray unceasingly. Worship. Place your hearts before God as I do each and every day. And I talk to
00:34:25him like an ongoing conversation. I'm sure he's going to say, couldn't you have been quiet for about five
00:34:33minutes at least? But going to bed, waking up in the morning, this is what it's all about. It's about
00:34:42you. It's about us together and our whole church making that difference in the world and bringing
00:34:50the healing, the love, and the compassion that we all need for each other. In the name of the Father,
00:34:59and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
00:35:15Let us now rise and together profess our faith. I believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty,
00:35:23maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen. I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
00:35:31the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, light from light, true God
00:35:38from true God, begotten not made of one being with the Father. Through him all things are made for us
00:35:45and for our salvation. He came down from heaven by the power of the Holy Spirit. He was born of the
00:35:52Virgin Mary and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate. He suffered death
00:36:02and was buried. On the third day he rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures. He ascended into
00:36:09heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the
00:36:15living and the dead. And his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and
00:36:22giver of life, who proceeds from the Father with the Father and the Son. He is worshiped and glorified.
00:36:28He has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one holy Catholic and apostolic church. I acknowledge
00:36:36one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the
00:36:42world to come. Amen. The Lord be with you. Let us pray. Our help is from the Lord who made heaven
00:36:52and earth. Our response to our petitions will be, Lord, hear our prayer. For our prime bishop and
00:36:58Bishop Anthony, for his brother bishops, priests, deacons, and all who minister in the church, that they
00:37:04continue to lead us in active and loyal prayer. We pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. That our
00:37:12evangelistic efforts be undergirded by our loving prayer for the unsaved, we pray to the Lord.
00:37:20Lord, hear our prayer. That all our youth be active and loyal in prayer, we pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our
00:37:29prayer. That we may honor and celebrate the heritage of each and every one of our brothers and sisters in
00:37:36Christ, we pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. With great gratitude for all that God has done for
00:37:43us, his people throughout the years, let us ask him to charge more men in the church to proclaim the
00:37:50word. We pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. That those who must travel be kept safe from every
00:37:58harm, we pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. For the city of Schenectady and the Mount Pleasant
00:38:05neighborhood, and for all of our local communities and neighborhoods, that the mantle of God's
00:38:10protection envelop them and drive out the evils of drugs, violence, and prejudice, we pray to the Lord.
00:38:18Lord, hear our prayer. For all of the departed of Holy Name of Jesus, Good Shepherd, and St. Joseph's
00:38:25parishes, for all interred in Holy Name of Jesus, and Good Shepherd's cemeteries, and for all of our
00:38:30departed loved ones and benefactors, that they may enter into that place which Christ has prepared
00:38:37for them, we pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. And for all of our personal needs and intentions
00:38:44mentioned in the silence of our hearts.
00:38:46We pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. Guard us, Lord, from all evil. Guard our lives,
00:39:16guard our coming and our going. Hear our prayers, both now and forever. Amen. Please be seated.
00:39:29Withdrawing a second time, he prayed again,
00:39:32My Father, if it is not possible that this cup pass without my drinking it, your will be done.
00:39:46Bless you, Lord, and of all creation.
00:40:01For goodness, you have this bread to offer, which you have this given to humans that have made.
00:40:04Come for us, the bread of life.
00:40:06By the mystery of this wine and water, they have come to share today, the parents to humble themselves, to share in our humanity.
00:40:29Bless you, Lord, and of all creation.
00:40:40We have this wine to offer for the vine to work of human hands and become our spiritual drink.
00:40:45Lord, bless you, Lord, and of all creation.
00:40:53Lord, bless you, Lord. Please, this sacrifice we offer with humble and contrite hearts.
00:40:58Come, Holy Spirit, and bless the sacrifice which we have prepared with the glory of your holy name.
00:41:06Lord, wash away my iniquity. Cleanse me from all my sin.
00:41:10May the Son of His Holy Trinity
00:41:20be in memory of the Passion, Resurrection, and Ascension
00:41:23of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Blessed Virgin Mary
00:41:25and all the saints, may they whose memory
00:41:27we honor on earth intercede for us in heaven.
00:41:30Pray, my brothers and sisters,
00:41:31their sacrifice may be acceptable to God,
00:41:34the Almighty Father.
00:41:35May the Lord worship the Son of God
00:41:37in your hand, the praise and glory of His name,
00:41:41for our good and for the benefit of the Holy Spirit.
00:41:44Amen.
00:41:44Amen.
00:41:49Eternal God, may we who offer these gifts to You
00:41:53never cease to call upon You for Your grace and love
00:41:58and remain steadfast in Your service
00:42:01as we live and spread Your holy Word.
00:42:04We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
00:42:09who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
00:42:12one God, forever and ever.
00:42:17Amen.
00:42:20The Lord be with you.
00:42:23And also with you.
00:42:27Lift up your hearts.
00:42:31Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
00:42:40It is right to give in thanks and praise.
00:42:47Father, all-powerful and ever-living God,
00:42:50we do well always and everywhere to give You thanks
00:42:54through Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.
00:42:58Through His teaching and ministry,
00:43:02Jesus showed us how we are to live,
00:43:05giving our lives in service to You and all people.
00:43:10Still hearing His Word in our world today,
00:43:14we strive to follow His example
00:43:17and set our hearts on the world to come.
00:43:21Therefore, with the angels and archangels,
00:43:25with all the saints in the entire church,
00:43:28we lift our hymn of praise to Your glory,
00:43:32repeating unceasingly.
00:43:35Holy, holy, holy, Lord, God of hosts,
00:43:44the heavens and the earth are full of the majesty of Thy glory.
00:43:53Hosanna in the highest.
00:43:58Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.
00:44:06Hosanna in the highest.
00:44:12Today's Eucharistic prayer is found on page 82,
00:44:15the Canon of St. Hippolytus.
00:44:17Please kneel.
00:44:18We give thanks to You, God our Father,
00:44:28through Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ,
00:44:31whom in these last days You have sent us
00:44:33as Savior, Redeemer, and Messenger of Your will.
00:44:36He is Your Word, inseparable from You.
00:44:39Through Him You have made all things,
00:44:40and in Him You were well pleased.
00:44:42You sent Him from heaven to a virgin's womb.
00:44:45There He dwelt and was made flesh.
00:44:47He was revealed as Your Son,
00:44:49born through the Holy Spirit and of the Virgin.
00:44:52When He suffered, He fulfilled Your will
00:44:54and gained for You a holy people.
00:44:56He stretched out His hands to free from suffering
00:44:59those who believed in You.
00:45:01When He was betrayed to His freely chosen suffering,
00:45:05thereby to destroy death,
00:45:07to break the chains of darkness,
00:45:09to crush hell beneath His feet,
00:45:11to give light to the just,
00:45:13to make a covenant,
00:45:13and to manifest His resurrection.
00:45:17He took bread.
00:45:22He gave you thanks and said,
00:45:25Take and eat.
00:45:27This is my body,
00:45:29which is broken for you.
00:45:31In like manner,
00:45:48He took the cup and said,
00:45:51This is my blood,
00:45:53which is poured out for you.
00:45:56Whenever you do this,
00:45:57do it in memory of me.
00:45:59calling then His death and resurrection to mine,
00:46:18we offer You the bread and the cup.
00:46:21We thank You for allowing us to come before You
00:46:24and to serve You.
00:46:25We ask You to send Your Holy Spirit
00:46:28upon the offering of Your Holy Church.
00:46:31Together all in unity,
00:46:32grant to all who partake of these holy mysteries
00:46:35the fullness of the Holy Spirit
00:46:37for the strengthening of their faith in the truth.
00:46:40So may we praise and glorify You
00:46:42through Your Son,
00:46:44Jesus Christ.
00:46:48Through Him may glory and honor be Yours,
00:46:52with the Holy Spirit in Your Holy Church,
00:46:55now and forever and ever.
00:46:58Let us now rise and pray with confidence to the Father
00:47:09in the words our Savior gave us.
00:47:14Our Father,
00:47:16who art in heaven,
00:47:20hallowed be Thy name,
00:47:24Thy kingdom come,
00:47:28Thy will be done
00:47:32on earth as it is in heaven.
00:47:40Give us this day our daily bread
00:47:46and forgive us our trespasses
00:47:52as we forgive those
00:47:56who trespass against us
00:47:59and lead us not into temptation,
00:48:06but deliver us from evil.
00:48:13Deliver us, Lord, from every evil
00:48:15and grant us peace in our day.
00:48:18In Your mercy keep us free from sin
00:48:21and protect us from all anxiety
00:48:24as we wait in joyful hope
00:48:27for the coming of our Savior,
00:48:29Jesus Christ.
00:48:31For the kingdom of God
00:48:34and the glory are Yours,
00:48:38now and forever.
00:48:41Amen.
00:48:42The cup of blessing which we bless,
00:48:46is it not a participation
00:48:47in the blood of Christ?
00:48:49The bread which we break.
00:48:53Is it not a participation
00:48:55in the body of Christ?
00:48:57Because there is one bread.
00:48:59We who are many are one body,
00:49:02for we all partake of the one bread.
00:49:05May the union of divinity and humanity
00:49:07in Jesus Christ
00:49:08bring us sanctification
00:49:10and eternal life.
00:49:12Amen.
00:49:13Lord Jesus Christ,
00:49:14You said to Your apostles,
00:49:15I leave You peace,
00:49:16my peace I give You.
00:49:18Do not look at our sins,
00:49:19but on the faith of Your church,
00:49:21and grant us the peace
00:49:22and unity of Your kingdom,
00:49:24where You live forever and ever.
00:49:26Amen.
00:49:27The peace of the Lord
00:49:28be with you always.
00:49:30And also with you.
00:49:31Let's offer each other
00:49:32a sign of Christ's peace.
00:49:34Amen.
00:49:34Amen.
00:49:34Amen.
00:49:34Amen.
00:49:35Amen.
00:49:35Amen.
00:49:35Amen.
00:49:36Amen.
00:49:36Amen.
00:49:36Amen.
00:49:37Amen.
00:49:37Amen.
00:49:38Amen.
00:49:38Amen.
00:49:38Amen.
00:49:39Amen.
00:49:40Amen.
00:49:40Amen.
00:49:41Amen.
00:49:41Amen.
00:49:42Amen.
00:49:42Amen.
00:49:45Amen.
00:49:57Lamb of God,
00:49:59you take away the sins of the world.
00:50:06Have mercy on us.
00:50:11Lamb of God,
00:50:12you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the
00:50:31world, grant us peace. Let's now kneel and pray together the first communion prayer.
00:50:43Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, by the will of the Father and the work of the Holy Spirit,
00:50:51your death brought life to the world by your holy body and blood. Free me from all my sins and from
00:50:58every evil. Keep me faithful to your teaching and never let me be parted from you.
00:51:04I will take the bread of heaven and call upon the name of the Lord. Lord, I am not worthy
00:51:17to receive you, but only say the word and I shall be healed.
00:51:21Lord, I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the word and I shall be healed.
00:51:27May the blood of Christ bring me to everlasting life. Amen.
00:51:53My dear brothers and sisters, let's now join together with all those who are with us virtually
00:52:07today in a prayer of spiritual communion. Most loving Jesus, I adore you in the most blessed
00:52:15sacrament in which you are truly present. I love you above all things and I long for you in my soul
00:52:22since I cannot receive you sacramentally. I ask you to come spiritually into my heart and heal my soul.
00:52:31I embrace you and unite myself with you. May I never be separated from you.
00:52:36In my heart with the fire of your love, my Lord and Savior. Amen.
00:52:41Amen. This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Happy are those who are called to the table of the Lord.
00:52:53The body and blood of Christ. The body and blood of Christ. The body and blood of Christ.
00:53:22The body and blood of Christ. The body and blood of Christ.
00:53:52The body and blood of Christ.
00:53:59The body and blood of Christ.
00:54:13The body and blood of Christ.
00:54:17The body and blood of Christ.
00:54:22The body and blood of Christ.
00:54:27The body and blood of Christ.
00:54:32The body and blood of Christ.
00:54:39The body and blood of Christ.
