00:00Hello, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. It's been quite a soggy
00:04end to the weekend for many of us and that's all thanks to low pressure, very much in charge
00:08of our weather over the next couple of days. The weather front that's brought us the rain
00:12through much of Sunday does clear away and that area of low pressure slowly pushes its
00:16way north eastwards as we go through Monday and Tuesday. There's still plenty of showers
00:19spiralling around this system. We then just need to keep an eye down towards the south
00:23of the UK as we see another area of low pressure pushing in and that could potentially bring
00:27further spells of quite heavy rain and some strong winds too.
00:32Back to the rest of Sunday though, and the rain that we've seen out there through much
00:35of Sunday continues to push its way north eastwards through Sunday evening and into the early hours
00:40of Monday morning. It will briefly turn drier for a time in the west, however plenty of showers
00:44soon barrelling in on a very brisk southwesterly wind, potentially some coastal gales across
00:49the far south west. And these heavy showers could contain the odd rumble of thunder and
00:54some hail mixed in there as well, and it will be staying really quite mild across the south-west
00:58too. Thanks to that cloud and those brisk winds, temperatures quite widely staying up
01:02in the double figures here. However, across parts of Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland,
01:06northern parts of England, where we do see some clear skies and dry conditions overnight,
01:10it could be turning a little chillier, with temperatures here reaching into the mid, perhaps
01:13even low single figures. There could also be the odd patch of mist and fog in places, but
01:18that should clear relatively quickly through Monday morning. However, for much of England and
01:23Wales, it will be a day of a few sunny spells, but plenty of heavy blustery showers spiralling
01:28around that air of low pressure down towards the south of the UK. Once again, these could
01:32be heavy at times, some hail and thunder definitely likely to be mixed in there. But it will be
01:36across parts of Northern Ireland, much of mainland Scotland, that will see the best of any sunshine
01:40through Monday afternoon. The very far north east of Scotland just lingering, just holding
01:44on to some lingering cloud and rain. With some lighter winds, where we do see that sunshine
01:49in the north, it will be feeling fairly pleasant in the sunshine, temperatures here around 14
01:53or 15 degrees. And in the south, despite those temperatures being a little above average for
01:56the time of year, it won't be feeling too pleasant thanks to those heavy showers and brisk winds.
02:01As we then go through Monday evening, we will continue to see some showers affecting much
02:06of England and Wales. They slowly start to ease as they push offshore into the North Sea.
02:10And then it's a bit of a mixed picture overnight. There will be some clear spells around and
02:14where we do see those clear skies, once again, we could see some mist and fog in places. But
02:18some showery rain into the west will keep things a little milder here. Temperatures generally
02:23once again holding up into the double figures where we do see some cloud, but could be turning
02:27a little chillier across the east where we see those clear skies. Once again, perhaps the
02:32odd touch of grass frost in places. So a bit of a mixed picture to start the day on Tuesday.
02:38Some clear spells to start once any mist and fog has cleared. And then showery rain feeding
02:42in from the west, though this likely to be not quite as heavy as we saw on Monday. Perhaps
02:47a bit more in the way of sunshine between those showers as well. Temperatures will be fairly
02:50similar on Tuesday as well, though the winds won't be quite as strong, so potentially not
02:55feeling quite as unpleasant across the south. And similar again in terms of the temperatures
02:59further north, around 13 or 14 degrees. Then looking ahead towards the middle part of the
03:05week after we've seen the sunny spells and showers at first, there is that air of low pressure
03:08to just keep an eye on. It could bring some quite heavy rain and some strong winds too.
03:13And as that pulls away, it will leave a bit of a northerly flow across the country, so
03:16potentially turning a little bit colder by the time we get to next weekend too. You can
03:21find out all about that, though, by following us on social media and making sure you subscribe
03:25to our YouTube channel so you never miss a weather update. And I'll see you next year
03:29when I'm back from maternity leave. Bye for now.
