Hello, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. The anti-cyclonic gloom
00:05
that we've seen over recent weeks does look like it's moving away as we see another area
00:09
of high pressure developing into next week, bringing some brighter skies. Before we get
00:13
there though, a weather front sinks its way south and eastwards, bringing some further
00:16
outbreaks of rain and cloud before it's this area of high pressure that redevelops into
00:21
Monday and Tuesday, bringing us some much sunnier skies than we've seen over recent
00:25
weeks. Before we get there though, we do have to see that weather front sinking its way
00:28
south and eastwards, so generally remaining quite cloudy to end the day on Saturday. There
00:32
will be some clearer spells across parts of Scotland, could be turning a little chillier
00:36
here and parts of northern into eastern, southern eastern parts of England as well, seeing those
00:41
clearer spells through the early hours of Sunday morning. But remaining cloudier further
00:44
west, outbreaks of rain arriving across western parts of Scotland, perhaps turning heavy at
00:49
times. Under that cloud and rain, generally still raining quite mild overnight, but where
00:53
we see the clearer spells persisting, we could see those temperatures dropping down into
00:57
the single figures, perhaps even a touch of frost across northern and eastern parts of
01:01
Scotland. So quite a chilly start to the day here, but that doesn't last long as that area
01:05
of rain pushes its way eastwards and southwards as we go through Sunday morning. The outbreaks
01:10
of rain could be quite heavy across western parts of Scotland, but moving through relatively
01:14
quickly as we go in towards the afternoon. The southern half of the UK generally staying
01:18
a little bit drier, perhaps some brightness in places, but there will be few and far between
01:22
as this weather front sinks its way southwards through the afternoon. It will be northern
01:26
Ireland and western parts of Scotland that see the best of the sunshine through the afternoon,
01:30
though one or two isolated showers across northern parts of Scotland later. A little
01:34
bit milder than we saw on Saturday, temperatures in the south around 14 or 15 degrees and 11
01:39
or 12 further north, although perhaps feeling a little chillier in the far north with those
01:43
blustery showers. As we then go through Sunday evening, that frontal band continues to sink
01:49
its way south and eastwards overnight Sunday and into the start of Monday, but for the
01:53
northern half of the UK, a much drier night and plenty of clear spells around too. One
01:57
or two isolated showers continuing across the very far north of Scotland, but generally
02:01
a dry night to come. The southern half of the UK, that frontal band lingers for a time
02:05
across south Wales, southern central parts of England, so staying quite cloudy here and
02:10
quite mild too under that cloud. Temperatures up in the high single figures or low double
02:15
figures, but further north where we see those clear spells turning that little bit chillier
02:18
again and we could see some frost to start the day on Monday. In the south though, that
02:23
cloudy and mild start with that frontal band just lingering across the very far south coast
02:28
for a time, but it does eventually clear its way southwards as we go through Monday morning
02:32
and into the afternoon, leaving a dry and bright day for many of us. Plenty of sunshine
02:36
and blue skies on offer, which is a welcome change from what we've seen recently and temperatures
02:40
will still be a little bit above average for the time of year, 13 or 14 degrees in the
02:44
south or 10 or 11 further north, but feeling much more pleasant in that sunshine. The
02:49
sunshine does look like it's set to last as we go into Tuesday, but make sure you subscribe
02:53
to our YouTube channel to find out all the details on that later. Bye bye.
