00:00U.S. President Donald Trump appeared hesitant to supply Kyiv with U.S.-made Tomahawk missiles
00:06after meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House.
00:11Latvian police working with EU agencies have busted a major internet fraud network that
00:16scammed thousands across Europe.
00:20U.S. President Donald Trump welcomed his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky at the White
00:26House on Friday to hold talks on the latest on the ground and explore ways to end Russia's
00:31ongoing war. One of Zelensky's visits' main objectives was to secure U.S.-made Tomahawk
00:37missiles, which Kyiv has sought for at least one year now, to boost its offensive capabilities.
00:44Trump, speaking to reporters at the White House meeting room before the closed-door talks,
00:49appeared hesitant to oblige.
00:51We need Tomahawks and we need a lot of other things that we've been sending over the
00:56last four years to Ukraine. I have an obligation also, though, to make sure that we're completely
01:01stocked up as a country, because you never know what's going to happen in war and peace, right?
01:10Zelensky, in response to a question in a solo press conference after the meeting on whether
01:15Russia dissuaded Trump from supplying these missiles, said he believes they're scared of
01:20what Ukraine can do with them.
01:22I think that Russians are afraid about Tomahawks, really afraid because it's a strong weapon,
01:29and they know what we have, what kind of weapon we have, our production, and they understand that
01:35combination with Tomahawks.
01:39Zelensky also stressed that it's important that the U.S. provide security guarantees to Ukraine in
01:44any potential cease-fire and peace settlement. He also expressed hope that the U.S. president
01:49can replicate the peace he was able to broker in Gaza in his embattled Ukraine.
01:59The European Commission has cautiously welcomed the announcement of a summit between the American
02:04and Russian presidents to find a solution to the war in Ukraine. The meeting between Donald Trump
02:10and Vladimir Putin could take place within two weeks in Budapest, although no further details
02:16are available at the moment.
02:18What I want to convey from the European Commission's point of view and from President von der Leyen's
02:23point of view, first to repeat that any meeting that moves forward the process of achieving a
02:31just and lasting peace for Ukraine is welcome.
02:35The location of the meeting is politically significant. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban is
02:40seen as close to Donald Trump as well as to Vladimir Putin. Furthermore, Viktor Orban is at
02:46odds with the European Union regarding its stance on the war in Ukraine.
02:57Latvian police working with EU agencies have busted a major internet fraud network that scammed
03:03thousands across Europe, Europol said on Friday.
03:05Seven suspects were arrested on October the 10th in a joint operation involving police from
03:13Austria, Estonia, and Latvia.
03:18The criminal ring is accused of scamming victims out of nearly 5 million euros in thousands of
03:23separate cases, mostly in Latvia and Austria.
03:25During the raids, police seized 1,200 SIM box devices and 40,000 SIM cards.
03:38Europol added that the network was also used to facilitate other crimes like migrant smuggling
03:43and extortion.
03:44French police have detained four people suspected of a plot against exiled Russian rights activist
04:00Vladimir Osechkin, authorities said on Thursday.
04:03Osechkin is the founder of Gulagu.net, a group that exposes abuse and torture in the Russian
04:09prison system.
04:09In an interview on Friday, Osechkin said he has faced repeated threats and believes those
04:15arrested are just a part of a big team.
04:17His group was also among the first to reveal that Russia's military was recruiting prisoners
04:23to fight in Ukraine.
04:24The alleged plot is being investigated as part of what authorities call a sustained campaign
04:29of Russian sabotage and hybrid warfare against European allies of Ukraine.
04:34Doit to ask for a question of the final minute.
04:41The question of the federal government is being investigated by the European
