00:00Following the news of Moscow's successful test of a nuclear-powered cruise missile,
00:05US President Donald Trump urged Putin to end Russia's war in Ukraine instead.
00:11Turkey has signed a 9 million euro deal with the UK to purchase 20 Eurofighter Typhoon jets.
00:21After several balloon incursions disrupted air traffic,
00:24Lithuania is now considering closing its borders indefinitely with Belarus.
00:30The US Department of Agriculture says it will stop paying for food aid from November
00:35as the government's second longest shutdown drags on.
00:42After Russian President Vladimir Putin announced what he called a successful test of a new nuclear-powered
00:48cruise missile, US President Donald Trump called the move, quote, inappropriate. He urged Putin to
00:54end Russia's war on Ukraine instead of testing rockets, claiming that the conflict should have
00:58taken a week and now finds itself nearing the four-year mark. Trump also noted that Russia
01:05is aware that the US has a nuclear submarine deployed right off their shore.
01:10The Kremlin called the missile unique and said it is a product no other country in the world possesses.
01:16It added that the test came in an effort to ensure the country's security.
01:20During the test, the weapon demonstrated its capabilities in evading anti-missile and
01:26anti-aircraft defenses. However, together with Russia's nuclear drills last week,
01:32the test is widely seen as a further message to Washington that Moscow will not cave under US
01:37sanctions and pressure. Turkey has signed a deal with the UK worth roughly 9 billion euros to purchase
01:4920 Eurofighter Typhoon jets. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hailed the agreement as a, quote,
01:56new symbol of the strategic relationship between the two close allies. And British Prime Minister
02:02Kier Starmer added that the agreement provides the option for the sale of more jets in the future.
02:08Eurofighter Typhoon savaş uçaklarının tedarikine dair uygulama düzenlemeleri heyetler
02:16arası görüşmelerde imzalandı. Bu mutabakatı iki yakın müttefik olarak aramızdaki
02:25stratejik ilişkilerin yeni bir nişanesi olarak görüyorum.
02:32Our countries may sit at either end of Europe, but we're strong partners working more closely
02:39together now than ever before. We're united behind our collective security as NATO allies.
02:47The jets are manufactured by a group of countries including the UK, Germany, Italy and Spain.
02:54Ankara and London had already signed a preliminary deal for the Eurofighters back in July.
02:59The deal over the summer followed shortly after Germany decided to
03:03lift its long-standing opposition to the sale of the jets to Turkey.
03:09Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban was received in a private meeting on Monday morning by Poplio
03:16the 14th here in Rome before meeting Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Maloney later on in the afternoon.
03:22The last time Orban was in Rome was last December so almost one year ago.
03:27And the visit comes ahead of Hungary's next general elections which are due to take place in April and
03:33which are said to be quite crucial for Viktor Orban himself.
03:38Now we understand that the war in Ukraine took center stage in the talks as he did with Pope Francis.
03:45Viktor Orban wanted to highlight to both the pontiff and Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Maloney
03:51that Hungary is calling for an end to the war in Ukraine. And let's remind ourselves that Viktor Orban
03:58is the leader of perhaps the only one if not one of the few EU countries that has maintained strong ties
04:05with Moscow. And we also understand that according to reports and Italian media that sanctions against
04:12Russia very likely were part of the discussions with Orban opposing the measures and Maloney finding
04:19herself in a position to mediate between Orban and the rest of EU leaders. Orban told Italian newspaper
04:28per la Repubblica that the economy of the EU was another topic on the agenda of today's talks.

04:39Lithuania drew up plans to close its border with Belarus indefinitely,
04:48the country's Prime Minister Inga Rygunjena said.
04:52It comes after flights at the capital's airport were repeatedly disrupted as a result of multiple
04:57balloon sightings used to smuggle in cigarettes. The balloons caused flight cancellations, diversions
05:03and delays. The country's Border Guard service decided overnight on Sunday to close the border
05:10for 24 hours. The restrictions will be extended until Wednesday when the government is expected to
05:16decide whether to prolong the closure indefinitely.
05:19The third day will beuments. It isch to prepare for the limits while now to avoid that.
05:39Answering a question during a media briefing, the European Commission said they were in contact with local authorities.
05:49In this case, as in all of the previous cases of drones, for example, there have been several across the EU and EU airports, we are in close contact with the national authorities in this case, as well as EASA.
06:03Rukiniena has referred to the incursions as, quote, hybrid attacks and floated the possibility of the country invoking NATO Article 4.
06:15The rule of law has decreased in over two-thirds of EU countries in 2025, according to the Rule of Law Index published on Tuesday by the World Justice Projects.
06:26The rule of law can be defined as a durable system of laws, institutions, norms and community commitments that delivers four universal principles, accountability, just law, open government and accessible and impartial justice.
06:40Out of the 27 EU member states, Bulgaria and Hungary were the ones with the lowest rule of law scores.
06:46On the opposite end of the spectrum, eight EU countries ranked among the top 10 globally in the rule of law index, with Denmark retaining the first position worldwide.
06:55In 2025, Slovakia and Hungary saw the sharpest decline.
06:59All eight of the factors are declining for Hungary, so it really ranges from declines in constraints on government powers, absence of corruption, open government, fundamental rights, civil justice, criminal justice, regulatory enforcement and order and security.
07:15The largest increases were observed in Ireland and Poland.
07:18The global trend that we're seeing is declines in constraints on government powers, fundamental rights and open government. Ireland and Poland are both showing improvements in all of those factors.
07:30The decline in rule of law is being observed worldwide and not just in Europe.
07:34Justice systems in the majority of countries around the world have also been facing greater political interference.
07:40Justice Congresswoman D.
08:02Approximately three minutes ago, we detected an ICBM over the Pacific.
08:18Current flight trajectory is consistent with impact somewhere in the continental United States.
08:25Have we seen DEFCON before?
08:27No.
08:32Well, I think it's something we need to be constantly aware of.
08:37We've sort of normalized it, and it's kind of become quiet, almost too quiet.
08:43And my hope is the reduction of the nuclear stockpile.
08:46I mean, I know that's a lofty hope, but it would be amazing.
08:50I hope a general audience would maybe put some pressure on government officials to reopen this conversation, at least.
08:59And let's have a full and honest conversation about the system that we've put in place.
09:05Because it doesn't seem maybe like the best system.
09:08I mean, this movie shows the system working at its best, at its most efficient.
09:13And the end result of it is pretty scary.
09:16So, maybe we should reconsider the system itself.
09:46I mean, what do you det belum because you look at the system.
