00:00Moored on the River Thames near Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast is one of the most significant
00:06surviving warships of the 20th century. Launched in 1938, this Royal Navy light cruiser played
00:14a key role during World War II, including escorting Arctic convoys to the Soviet Union
00:20and bombarding German positions during the D-Day landings in 1944. After the war, she
00:27served in the Korean War before being decommissioned in 1963. In 1971, HMS Belfast was saved from
00:36scrapping and opened to the public as a museum ship, now operated by the Imperial War Museums.
00:43Today, visitors can explore nine decks filled with original rooms, interactive exhibits and
00:48stories from the 950 men who once lived and served aboard.
