Moored on the River Thames near Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast is one of the most significant

surviving warships of the 20th century. Launched in 1938, this Royal Navy light cruiser played

a key role during World War II, including escorting Arctic convoys to the Soviet Union

and bombarding German positions during the D-Day landings in 1944. After the war, she

served in the Korean War before being decommissioned in 1963. In 1971, HMS Belfast was saved from

scrapping and opened to the public as a museum ship, now operated by the Imperial War Museums.

Today, visitors can explore nine decks filled with original rooms, interactive exhibits and

stories from the 950 men who once lived and served aboard.
