00:04heart of London's history and development. Flowing through the city, for about 13 miles
00:09it has been central to London's growth since Roman times. When the settlement of Londinium
00:15was established on its banks, the river provided a key route for trade, helping London become
00:20the capital of England. In the medieval period, the Thames was a vital part for transporting
00:26goods from wool to wine and played a major role in the city's economy. During the Industrial
00:33Revolution, the river saw rapid changes with the construction of docks and warehouses,
00:38making London one of the world's busiest ports. The river continued to serve as a vital
00:44transport route throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, helping to shape the city's industrial
