00:00Hello and welcome to another edition of Look Around London.
00:04Farringdon Station is one of London's busiest transport hubs, sitting right on the edge of the city and Clerkenwell.
00:10Originally opened in 1863, it was part of the world's very first Underground Railway, the Metropolitan Railway.
00:17Today, it's a major interchange linking the London Underground, the Thameslink and now the Elizabeth Line.
00:24That makes it one of only a handful of stations where you can travel directly from Heathrow and Gatwick Airport without changing trains.
00:32The station's importance has grown massively with the Elizabeth Line. Journeys to Canary Wharf, Paddington or even Heathrow are now much faster.
00:42Architecturally, the station blends Victorian heritage with modern design featuring bright concourses and step-free access.
00:50That's it for this edition of Look Around London.
