00:04It's been another day of severe disruption.
00:08It's expected to carry on this week across London's transport network
00:12as industrial action by tube workers continue.
00:16Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union
00:20began their industrial action last weekend,
00:24but the full impact has been felt on both Monday and Tuesday
00:28as commuters sought other forms of transport.
00:32Now, the workers are striking again over pay and conditions
00:35and including wanting a 32-hour working week.
00:40Transport for London has said the union's demands are unaffordable
00:44and DLR services, which were only partially impacted on Monday,
00:48will be fully suspended on Thursday and were today as well.
00:52Now, as part of separate industrial action,
00:55that's where the DLR is taking place,
00:58but buses were packed, just like the ones behind me,
01:01and they have been in standstill traffic on the city on Monday.
01:05TfL reported the number of people using their cards on London buses by 1pm
01:11had gone up 12%.
01:13Demand for London Overground and the Elizabeth Line services
01:17went up by 31% as well,
01:21noting that these lines had likely been absorbing displaced tube passengers.
01:26That's according to Transport for London.
01:30Many opted to travel by bike with popular e-bike providers.
01:34Lime, TfL's Santander Cycles and Forest are all reporting significant increases
01:40in the number of trips taken by customers so far this week.
01:46A spokesperson for the Prime Minister has urged RMT and TfL
01:51to get back around the table to try and end the strikes.
01:56In other transport news,
01:57a proposed list of new rules for pedicab drivers in London
02:01has now been released by TfL after a public consultation.
02:06External showed that overwhelming support for regulation of the industry
02:12had been confirmed.
02:13TfL said that the new rules, if approved,
02:16would protect customers from extortionate overcharging
02:20and remove dangerous, unsafe vehicles from the streets of the capital.
02:26The London Pedicab Welfare Association
02:28has previously said it had welcomed regulations
02:32so long as they were fair and within the rules.
02:36Now, subject to a second consultation period,
02:39including criminal record checks for drivers and fares
02:43to be based on journey time are set to be implemented.
02:47The new six-week consultation on the list of rules
02:51is now open for Londoners, businesses and pedicab operators
02:56to have their say.
