Transcript
00:00Hello and welcome to another edition of Look Around London.
00:05The London Overground is one of the city's newest and most successful rail networks,
00:10but its story starts with failure.
00:12In the early 2000s, part of London's rail infrastructure, like the North London Line,
00:17was poorly run underused and often unsafe.
00:21So, in 2007, Transport for London launched the London Overground
00:25to bring neglected routes under one modern network.
00:30It began by upgrading four lines, improving stations, increasing train frequency and boosting reliability.
00:38Over time, Transport for London took over more routes, including the East London Line in 2010
00:44and the Gospel Oak and Barking Line in 2016.
00:49Today, the Overground stretches over 100 miles, connecting suburb to the heart of the City of London.
