00:00:00Hello friends, I'm Pastor Joe Lasswell, I welcome you to our study here at this time.
00:00:16We're getting back into Daniel chapter 8, learning some wonderful, wonderful truths as
00:00:23we dig through the scriptures and it's just going to get better and better and better
00:00:26and we're going to see more and more and more the times that we're living in, not just
00:00:31what has happened in the past, but this is all leading up to something that's going to
00:00:37happen in our day, our time, our day, the time of the end.
00:00:41That's why I named this complete prophecy series, The Time of the End.
00:00:48And before we get into episode 10 here, in the study of Daniel 8, which I have entitled
00:00:56The Desolator, I hope you're seeing how the little horn, that bold pretender has evolved
00:01:03into the desolator, I hope you're seeing that, the desolator of the ministry of Jesus and
00:01:12so on.
00:01:14I hope you're seeing it.
00:01:14But before we get back into it, we want to ask the Lord to bless us here as we open His
00:01:20Holy Word.
00:01:21And so I invite you to kneel if possible, if not, let's bow our hearts and our heads together
00:01:27here as we seek the Lord in prayer.
00:01:31Father in heaven, we do thank Thee for this Holy Sabbath day that we can come apart and
00:01:36rest and gain a, not just a physical rest, but a spiritual rest with the battles against
00:01:43the darkness that we've had in the past week.
00:01:49Father, we thank You so much that You are our Father, that You love us so much that You
00:01:54sent Your Son here to save us from the evil one and from ourselves.
00:02:00A lot of times we are our own worst enemy.
00:02:04Father, we thank You for Jesus.
00:02:05We ask for the Holy Spirit, which we praise Your name for, to come into our hearts and minds
00:02:10and cleanse us from all our unrighteousness and develop within us a love for the truth,
00:02:17a love for You, deeper than we've ever had before, and a love for each other, other human
00:02:23beings, that we may see them as Jesus sees us.
00:02:29Father, forgive us our sins.
00:02:31Help us to overcome them.
00:02:33Bring glory to Thy name.
00:02:35Father, I pray for those who couldn't be with us.
00:02:37Please be very near to those suffering.
00:02:39You know our prayer lists.
00:02:42We pray that You bless each and every one of them.
00:02:45And those who are meeting on this day, a Sabbath day, that You created to be with us, that You
00:02:50will give us that special blessing in all those who are worshiping Thee on this day.
00:02:55Father, I pray especially for our families and our children, our grandchildren.
00:03:00You give us a way into their intellect in some way that they may open their eyes and come
00:03:06to know Thee, the true God, and not just our family, our neighbors, and our friends.
00:03:12Father, please be with me this morning as I open Your Word.
00:03:16Give me the words to speak.
00:03:18May they be the truth always and not opinion.
00:03:22May hearts be prepared for it.
00:03:25I ask these favors in the name of Jesus, who is so worthy.
00:03:28Amen and amen.
00:03:32We are in, as I said, episode 10 of the Desolator series, the study of Daniel 8.
00:03:41And in our last study, part 9, or episode 9, we learned some things from Daniel 8, verse 13.
00:03:51And I want to kind of, as quickly as I can, refresh your memories over that.
00:03:55Let's get into it, because it helps us roll right back into our study of new things here.
00:04:01And so, Daniel 8, 13.
00:04:03Here are some things that we learned.
00:04:04We learned that Daniel hears voices speaking, right, about the vision.
00:04:09And he sees, what does he see?
00:04:11He sees two holy ones, right?
00:04:17And they're conversing.
00:04:18He hears them, he sees them, sees them.
00:04:21We learned that there were three persons present.
00:04:24Who were those persons?
00:04:26Well, Jesus, who was called the Palmoni, addressed as Palmoni, meaning wonderful numberer.
00:04:35And that is a key here, right, as we learned.
00:04:40Jesus is there.
00:04:41The angel Gabriel, we learned, is there.
00:04:44And, of course, Daniel, the prophet.
00:04:46We learned that Gabriel was asking Jesus, Palmoni, the wonderful numberer, a question about the vision.
00:04:53And the question is one that Daniel wanted an answer to.
00:04:57He had questions.
00:04:58So, Gabriel, what he did was, he asked the question that Daniel wanted an answer to, to Jesus.
00:05:03And he was asking it for Daniel's benefit.
00:05:06And he asked, how long shall be the vision?
00:05:09But we learned that it's better rendered, until when shall be the vision?
00:05:15We learned that the question is actually asking for the termination point.
00:05:20The main point of the question is not how long will the time span be, but when will the time span end?
00:05:30That's the main thrust of the question.
00:05:32The emphasis is not on its beginning, nor its duration, really, but on its termination.
00:05:37We learned that Jesus turned and he addressed Daniel directly with the answer to the question that Gabriel asked.
00:05:43And the answer given to Daniel in verse 14 is the end point of the prophecy.
00:05:50We learned that when Gabriel asks the question, until when shall be the vision, that word there for vision was Kazan,
00:05:58he's not merely referring to the portion of the vision that describes the work of the little horn,
00:06:03but rather to the total vision, which began in Daniel 8, verse 1.
00:06:08And that's very important, you see, because that proves that we must apply the year-day principle to the 2300 days.
00:06:17That's one proof of that.
00:06:20Of course, there's more.
00:06:23We learned that evening morning, described there, is a sanctuary day of 24 hours.
00:06:30Again, very, very important.
00:06:32We learned that one part of the heavenly sanctuary, the court, is actually on earth.
00:06:41And the church of God is the only sacred place on earth and is, therefore, the court of the sanctuary.
00:06:47That sanctuary that's in heaven, the court is the earth.
00:06:51We learned also, and this is all from Daniel 8, verse 13.
00:06:55We also learned that John the Revelator declares that the court or holy city would be under the dominion of the Gentiles for 42 months,
00:07:05which comes to 1260 years, actually, in the day-year principle, in prophecy.
00:07:12And this is the exact time that the papacy was to trample underfoot the sanctuary of God and the saints of God.
00:07:23We call it the Dark Ages.
00:07:26Remarkable how God's prophecy lines right up perfectly with history, isn't it?
00:07:31Are you discovering that?
00:07:33I hope that you are.
00:07:36We learn that these expressions in Daniel 8, verse 13 are figurative, according to Hebrews 10, verse 29,
00:07:44which speaks of treading underfoot the Son of God.
00:07:48That's what Hebrews says.
00:07:49So, in the same sense that the Son of God is trodden underfoot,
00:07:54we learn that the Pope has trodden underfoot the heavenly sanctuary
00:07:59by calling his own sanctuary, or temple, you could say, the temple of God.
00:08:06And the Pope has, by turning away the worship of man from the temple of God in heaven to his own sanctuary,
00:08:12he's done this, he's trampled it underfoot,
00:08:14and by turning away the worship of man from the temple of God in heaven to his own sanctuary,
00:08:22by elevating himself above all that is called God,
00:08:25and by assuming to be the head of the church.
00:08:34But the Bible tells us that Jesus is the head of the church.
00:08:41And these are just the ways we've learned from our past study
00:08:45how the Pope has trodden underfoot the sanctuary in heaven and God and his people.
00:08:54We also learn that God's people cannot be separated from the sanctuary of God.
00:09:01So, what is done in and to the sanctuary affects God's people,
00:09:08and that's very important for us to understand.
00:09:13We also learn that Daniel had declared the daily of the sanctuary services
00:09:18was to be taken away,
00:09:20and history confirms it was largely removed from the mindfulness of God's people for 1260 years.
00:09:29So much so, friends, that by the 1840s,
00:09:34nearly all Protestant denominations and people believed
00:09:37that the sanctuary spoken of in Daniel 8, verse 14 was the earth,
00:09:43and it wasn't a place in heaven.
00:09:45And it was their faulty interpretation about this
00:09:49that produced that bitter experience during the great Advent awakening.
00:09:53That bitter experience that Adventists suffered,
00:09:58which is so vividly described in Revelation chapter 10.
00:10:02And I don't know when I'm going to get into it,
00:10:06but pretty soon we'll get into Revelation chapter 10.
00:10:09I might do it...
00:10:10Maybe during our study of Daniel 9.
00:10:18Because we'll get into the timeline more of the 2300 days in Daniel chapter 9,
00:10:24so I may get into the study and show you how it just fits perfectly.
00:10:30Revelation 10, representing the Advent people,
00:10:33and that bitter experience, that disappointment in 1844 A.D.
00:10:39But we learned that.
00:10:41We learned also, as we looked at Revelation chapter 11,
00:10:44and especially verse 1,
00:10:46it reveals that the restoration of knowledge of the sanctuary
00:10:49and its services would not come until the passing of the 2300 days,
00:10:56which ended on October 22, 1844 A.D.
00:11:00Don't worry about that date.
00:11:01We'll get into it specifically soon in our studies.
00:11:10But remember, and I spoke about this last time,
00:11:14restoration began after October 22, 1844,
00:11:18when what happened?
00:11:18Do you recall?
00:11:21Hiram Edson was shown heaven the next day.
00:11:24He witnessed Jesus moving from the holy place
00:11:27to the most holy place in the heavenly sanctuary.
00:11:29And so they began to study.
00:11:32They knew the timeline was right.
00:11:33The deciphering was right.
00:11:35And they said something has to be wrong with our interpretation here somewhere.
00:11:39So they dug into it further and further studying.
00:11:41God blessed them.
00:11:42And the Adventists began preaching the sanctuary message.
00:11:46And I'll tell you, friends,
00:11:47they are the only denominated Christian people to do so.
00:11:50Again, fulfilling the prophecy of Revelation chapter 10.
00:11:56We learn that the use of sacrificial animals for symbols,
00:12:03the reference to four horns,
00:12:05the mention of Tamed and sanctuary together,
00:12:09the daily and sanctuary together,
00:12:10the use of evening mornings as a time unit,
00:12:13and the references to the two holy ones,
00:12:17all this in Daniel 8,
00:12:20all stress the connection of this prophecy with the heavenly sanctuary.
00:12:25Now remember, when we started this whole series,
00:12:27I said, we've got to understand
00:12:29probably more than the basics
00:12:34of what the sanctuary is
00:12:36and its services,
00:12:39which I hit on and elucidate,
00:12:46bring light to in this series.
00:12:51But I hope you're doing your own studies as well.
00:12:57Daniel 8, the theme in Daniel 8,
00:13:00very heavily sanctuary-oriented.
00:13:02We learned in Daniel 8, verse 13,
00:13:05there are three noun phrases, remember,
00:13:08that are to be understood at the end of the vision,
00:13:10which we know the end to be October 22, 1844, 18.
00:13:15We also know that Daniel 8, verse 14,
00:13:19being the response to the question in verse 13
00:13:22involving those three elements to be understood
00:13:24when the vision ends,
00:13:27that it supplies only one answer.
00:13:29And that answer is not specific to those three terms,
00:13:34but it's more comprehensive.
00:13:37It causes us to dig a little further.
00:13:39Jesus said, search the scriptures.
00:13:41He didn't just say, read them,
00:13:42and reading's fine.
00:13:43We've got to read them, of course.
00:13:46But he said, we've got to search them.
00:13:47We've got to dig.
00:13:48And the Holy Spirit blesses us when we do that.
00:13:51We learned about those phrases,
00:13:55that all three noun phrases in the question of Daniel 8,
00:13:58and verse 13,
00:14:00the daily, the transgression, desolation, that's one,
00:14:03and both the sanctuary and the host,
00:14:05that's two,
00:14:05and I pointed out that the last two are linked together as one,
00:14:10to get both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden underfoot,
00:14:13that they are answered by the stem and verb forms
00:14:18of the Hebrew word tzedak,
00:14:21which involves the sanctuary services.
00:14:25I'm going to get back into that here a little bit more.
00:14:28And then we learned that instead of using the word mechdos for sanctuary,
00:14:33which is found in Daniel 8 and verse 11,
00:14:35A different word, kodes, also translated as sanctuary,
00:14:40is used in Daniel 8, verses 13 and 14.
00:14:44And we found that this was purposely done
00:14:46to direct our attention to Leviticus 16,
00:14:50and specifically, the Day of Atonement.
00:14:52That's what Leviticus 16 talks about.
00:14:55It's the heart of Daniel 8 and verse 14, that message.
00:15:01Kodes is the only word used for sanctuary
00:15:04in the Day of Atonement service.
00:15:07You can look at Leviticus 16.
00:15:09It's used all throughout it.
00:15:12And when the context regarding the sanctuary
00:15:15deals with cleansing,
00:15:19Kodes is always used.
00:15:25It's always used.
00:15:27The emphasis in Daniel 8 and verse 14
00:15:28is on the second apartment cleansing.
00:15:32Those are the things we learned
00:15:34just from little old verse 13.
00:15:39Now let's get back to Daniel 8.
00:15:41We're going to continue to look at this
00:15:43because it's extremely important.
00:15:46But let's go back to Daniel 8.
00:15:47We're going to read verses 13 and 14 again
00:15:51as we get rolling here.
00:15:55Daniel 8, verse 13.
00:15:57Then I heard one saint speaking,
00:15:59and another saint said unto that certain saint
00:16:01which spake,
00:16:03How long shall be the vision
00:16:04concerning the daily sacrifice?
00:16:06Of course, that word sacrifice is added.
00:16:09We learn that the word concerning is as well.
00:16:12And the transgression of desolation,
00:16:14to give both the sanctuary and the host
00:16:16to be trodden underfoot.
00:16:17The answer comes in verse 14.
00:16:19And he said unto me,
00:16:21Unto two thousand and three hundred days,
00:16:23Then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.
00:16:28Now, not only did Daniel see the rise
00:16:33of this little horn
00:16:34and see it magnify itself,
00:16:37even to the prince of the host,
00:16:38we're told,
00:16:39and stand up against the prince of princes,
00:16:41cast down to the ground his truth
00:16:43and his sanctuary
00:16:44and stamp upon them,
00:16:45but he also,
00:16:48and in the same vision,
00:16:50saw the truth.
00:16:52And the sanctuary of Christ
00:16:53delivered from this little horn power,
00:16:57rescued from its blasphemous stamping,
00:17:00lifted up from the earth
00:17:01and exalted to heaven where it belongs.
00:17:04Daniel saw it all.
00:17:06And it was in this part in the vision
00:17:08that the heavenly ones
00:17:09seemed to be most interested.
00:17:12The sanctuary to be cleansed
00:17:17is the same sanctuary
00:17:19that was cast down
00:17:20and trodden underfoot
00:17:21and polluted by papal Rome.
00:17:24And friends,
00:17:24this really is self-evident,
00:17:26I think,
00:17:27to anyone who carefully reads these verses.
00:17:29In fact,
00:17:30no other conclusion seems possible.
00:17:33Since the destruction
00:17:34of the earthly sanctuary in 70 AD,
00:17:37the scriptures recognize
00:17:38no other sanctuary
00:17:40except the one in heaven.
00:17:42And this is the one polluted
00:17:44by the papal abomination.
00:17:46And this is the one
00:17:47to be cleansed or purified
00:17:49at the close of the 2300 years.
00:17:53Daniel is told.
00:17:56Right?
00:17:57Unto 2,300 days,
00:17:59then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.
00:18:04The actual Hebrew,
00:18:07it says it this way.
00:18:09It says,
00:18:12And he said to me,
00:18:14until evening,
00:18:16that's the Hebrew word Arab,
00:18:18until evening morning,
00:18:20Arab Boker,
00:18:222,300,
00:18:24then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.
00:18:26And that word for cleansed
00:18:27is in Nisdach.
00:18:28We'll get into that
00:18:28in just a few moments.
00:18:29And the facts show
00:18:34that verse 14
00:18:34should be read
00:18:35as a full 2300 days,
00:18:38not as 2300 sanctuary offerings,
00:18:43or as some try to teach
00:18:441150 days.
00:18:48In Leviticus,
00:18:50and elsewhere,
00:18:52there are passages
00:18:52in which the continual
00:18:54refers to the morning
00:18:55and evening sacrifice.
00:18:57But it always does so
00:18:58as a single unit.
00:19:02You see,
00:19:02it's a continual burnt offering.
00:19:05And that's singular,
00:19:06offering.
00:19:07It's not plural,
00:19:08offerings.
00:19:09Not even in the original.
00:19:12Continual is actually
00:19:15a technical term,
00:19:18which in the Hebrew
00:19:18applies to both sacrifices
00:19:20as a unit, you see.
00:19:21The double sacrifice
00:19:23is spoken of
00:19:24as a singular unit.
00:19:26Let's read it.
00:19:27Let's read it.
00:19:28Nah, Pastor Joel,
00:19:29I think you're mixed up on this.
00:19:30No, let's go to the Bible
00:19:32and read it ourselves.
00:19:35Numbers chapter 28.
00:19:37Let's go to Numbers chapter 28.
00:19:42And let's look at verse 3.
00:19:45And thou shalt say unto them,
00:19:47this is the offering,
00:19:48it's not plural,
00:19:53this is the offering
00:19:54made by fire
00:19:54which ye shall offer
00:19:55unto the Lord.
00:19:56Two lambs of the first year
00:19:57without spot,
00:19:58day by day,
00:20:00he says,
00:20:00for a continual burnt offering.
00:20:04Again, not plural.
00:20:06Verse 4.
00:20:07The one lamb
00:20:07shalt thou offer
00:20:08in the morning
00:20:09and the other lamb
00:20:10shalt thou offer
00:20:11at even.
00:20:13And a tenth part
00:20:14of an ephaph of flour
00:20:15for a meat offering
00:20:16mingled with the fourth part
00:20:17of a hen of beaten oil.
00:20:19Verse 6.
00:20:20It is a continual burnt offering
00:20:22which was ordained
00:20:24in Mount Sinai
00:20:25for a sweet savor,
00:20:27a sacrifice made by fire
00:20:28unto the Lord.
00:20:30Now,
00:20:31let me see
00:20:33if I can explain it better.
00:20:35The continual burnt offering
00:20:37consisted of two offerings.
00:20:40One in the morning
00:20:41and the other
00:20:42in the late afternoon.
00:20:43Because these symbolized
00:20:46a continual offering,
00:20:48they,
00:20:49the two of them,
00:20:50were spoken of
00:20:51as being a single offering
00:20:53each day.
00:20:54If the time span
00:20:55really did refer
00:20:56to the continual burnt offering,
00:20:58which it doesn't,
00:20:59then the time span
00:21:00would have to be
00:21:012300
00:21:02and not 1150.
00:21:04But as we've previously seen,
00:21:06Daniel 8.14
00:21:06is not referring
00:21:08to any offerings.
00:21:09that word sacrifice
00:21:11was added.
00:21:15It's an unproven assumption
00:21:16that the 2300
00:21:18evening morning expression
00:21:20refers to the
00:21:21tamed sacrifices.
00:21:23The word sacrifices,
00:21:25it's not in Daniel 8.14.
00:21:27And let me be clear about it.
00:21:29It isn't anywhere else
00:21:31in the Hebrew
00:21:31of the book of Daniel.
00:21:33It's not.
00:21:34Look for yourself.
00:21:37Sacrifices
00:21:38is found 79 times
00:21:40in the Old Testament,
00:21:42but not once
00:21:43in Daniel.
00:21:45Nor is the word
00:21:46sacrificed
00:21:47found in Daniel.
00:21:49Again,
00:21:49search the Hebrew
00:21:50for yourself,
00:21:51friends.
00:21:51You'll find it
00:21:51to be true.
00:21:53You can't find
00:21:54that word
00:21:55in Daniel.
00:21:57Remember this,
00:21:58quoted this before
00:22:00from early writings,
00:22:01page 74.
00:22:03And she's referring
00:22:04to Daniel 8
00:22:05and verse 12.
00:22:06She says,
00:22:07quote,
00:22:07Then I saw
00:22:08in relation
00:22:08to the daily
00:22:09tamed,
00:22:10that the word
00:22:11sacrifice
00:22:12was supplied
00:22:13by man's wisdom
00:22:14and does not
00:22:16belong to the text.
00:22:18And that the Lord
00:22:19gave the correct
00:22:20view of it
00:22:21to those
00:22:21who gave
00:22:22the judgment
00:22:23hour cry.
00:22:25End quote.
00:22:26the five
00:22:30tamed
00:22:31daily
00:22:33instances
00:22:33in the King
00:22:36James Version
00:22:37where translators
00:22:38have added
00:22:38the word
00:22:39sacrifices,
00:22:40you know,
00:22:40daily
00:22:41sacrifice
00:22:42in Daniel.
00:22:46Friends,
00:22:46they're just not
00:22:47in the original
00:22:47Hebrew.
00:22:49Because tamed,
00:22:50it's used here
00:22:51as an adjective,
00:22:52requires a noun
00:22:53to go with it,
00:22:54the translators
00:22:54include the word
00:22:55sacrifice.
00:22:57But the words
00:22:58sacrificed,
00:22:59sacrificeth,
00:23:01and sacrificing,
00:23:04they're not
00:23:04in Daniel either.
00:23:06And never forget
00:23:07this.
00:23:08The book of Daniel
00:23:09has nothing to say
00:23:10about daily
00:23:10sacrifices.
00:23:12As the word
00:23:13sacrifice
00:23:13was errantly
00:23:15added to the
00:23:17text.
00:23:19And so,
00:23:19you can put
00:23:19that to rest.
00:23:20But,
00:23:24from what
00:23:24we've learned,
00:23:26it's clear
00:23:26that most
00:23:26of the
00:23:27little horn
00:23:27activities
00:23:28in Daniel
00:23:298,
00:23:29verses 10
00:23:30through 12,
00:23:31paralleling
00:23:32the description
00:23:34in chapter 7,
00:23:36they were done
00:23:36during the
00:23:36dark ages.
00:23:38But friends,
00:23:39at that time
00:23:39there was no
00:23:40earthly sacrifice
00:23:41being offered
00:23:41in the temple,
00:23:43and none
00:23:43were being made
00:23:44in heaven.
00:23:46And this is
00:23:47one way that
00:23:47we can know
00:23:48that sacrifices
00:23:48is not the
00:23:50noun that
00:23:50should be
00:23:50added to
00:23:51timid.
00:23:53The one
00:23:54sacrifice on
00:23:54Calvary was
00:23:55sufficient for
00:23:56all time.
00:23:59No more
00:23:59were to be
00:24:00made thereafter.
00:24:01Let's look at
00:24:02Hebrews.
00:24:03Hebrews makes
00:24:03it clear.
00:24:05Hebrews chapter
00:24:059,
00:24:08verse 12
00:24:08says,
00:24:09Neither by the
00:24:09blood of goats
00:24:10and calves,
00:24:11but by my
00:24:13own blood he
00:24:14entered in once
00:24:15into the holy
00:24:16place,
00:24:17having obtained
00:24:17eternal
00:24:18redemption
00:24:19for us.
00:24:21Go down
00:24:22to verse 25.
00:24:23Hebrews 9,
00:24:24verse 25,
00:24:24Nor yet that
00:24:25he should offer
00:24:26himself often
00:24:27as the high
00:24:28priest entereth
00:24:29into the holy
00:24:29place every
00:24:30year with
00:24:31blood of
00:24:32others.
00:24:33For then
00:24:33must he
00:24:34often have
00:24:35suffered since
00:24:35the foundation
00:24:36of the world.
00:24:37But now
00:24:38once in the
00:24:39end of the
00:24:40world hath
00:24:40he appeared
00:24:41to put away
00:24:41sin by the
00:24:42sacrifice of
00:24:44himself.
00:24:46And we
00:24:46talked about
00:24:47that a bit
00:24:47when we
00:24:48were looking
00:24:48at the
00:24:49abomination
00:24:50called the
00:24:50mass that
00:24:51the papacy
00:24:52put into
00:24:54place,
00:24:54again trampling
00:24:55on the
00:24:57ministry of
00:24:59Jesus and
00:25:00what he
00:25:01shed for
00:25:02us.
00:25:03They do it
00:25:04every day.
00:25:06Remember I
00:25:06talked about
00:25:07how the
00:25:07symbol isn't
00:25:08a cross for
00:25:09the papacy,
00:25:10it's a
00:25:10crucifix.
00:25:11They keep
00:25:11Jesus on
00:25:12that cross,
00:25:14suffering day
00:25:16by day.
00:25:19Now as I
00:25:20mentioned
00:25:20previously,
00:25:22evening
00:25:22morning is
00:25:23not the
00:25:24same as
00:25:24morning
00:25:25evening.
00:25:26And friends
00:25:26this is a
00:25:27major point
00:25:28if you
00:25:28didn't get
00:25:28it.
00:25:30Evening
00:25:30morning cannot
00:25:31refer to the
00:25:31continual burnt
00:25:32offering for
00:25:33that offering
00:25:33is always
00:25:34called the
00:25:35morning evening
00:25:36continual burnt
00:25:37offering.
00:25:38You see in
00:25:39the Hebrew
00:25:40it is literally
00:25:41burnt offerings
00:25:42morning and
00:25:43evening.
00:25:43the continual
00:25:46burnt offering
00:25:47is never
00:25:47spoken of as
00:25:48the evening
00:25:49morning offering.
00:25:51And with
00:25:52one exception
00:25:53all other
00:25:55sanctuary
00:25:55procedures were
00:25:56spoken of as
00:25:57morning evening.
00:25:58That sole
00:25:59exception,
00:26:00and I touched
00:26:01on this before,
00:26:02was the
00:26:03lighting of the
00:26:04lampstands you
00:26:04remember,
00:26:05which were
00:26:06lit on a
00:26:07sunset to
00:26:08sunrise.
00:26:09right?
00:26:13Basis.
00:26:14Doing so
00:26:15would ensure
00:26:15that the
00:26:16oil would
00:26:16last throughout
00:26:17the dark
00:26:18hours.
00:26:20The term
00:26:21evening
00:26:21morning is
00:26:24written in
00:26:24the singular
00:26:25number,
00:26:25even though in
00:26:26the English
00:26:27it is written
00:26:272300 days.
00:26:31And so this
00:26:32fact shows that
00:26:32the Hebrew
00:26:33expression represents
00:26:34a unit of
00:26:34time, namely
00:26:36a 24 hour
00:26:36day.
00:26:37In the
00:26:38book of
00:26:39Daniel, the
00:26:39other Hebrew
00:26:40word for
00:26:41days, yamim,
00:26:43is plural.
00:26:44You see that in
00:26:45Daniel 1, and
00:26:46also in Daniel 12
00:26:48actually.
00:26:49So what is the
00:26:50real meaning of
00:26:51evening morning?
00:26:53Well, let's
00:26:54think about this.
00:26:55If I told you
00:26:56that it's a
00:27:03fine day.
00:27:05If I said to
00:27:05you, hey, it's
00:27:06a fine day.
00:27:06You'd know that
00:27:07I didn't mean
00:27:08the entire 24
00:27:09hours, but only
00:27:10the sunny
00:27:10daylight hours,
00:27:11wouldn't you?
00:27:12If I said, it's
00:27:13a beautiful
00:27:13evening, you'd
00:27:15know I wasn't
00:27:15talking about
00:27:16sunrise or
00:27:17noontime.
00:27:19And so Christ,
00:27:20the wonderful
00:27:21numberer, chose
00:27:23his words carefully,
00:27:24and he used the
00:27:24only phrase that
00:27:26would definitely,
00:27:28absolutely mean a
00:27:30full 24 hour
00:27:31day.
00:27:32Evening,
00:27:33morning.
00:27:35You see, in the
00:27:36first chapter of
00:27:37Genesis, we find
00:27:38the grand display
00:27:40of the power of
00:27:41God in creating
00:27:42our world in
00:27:43six days.
00:27:45In order to
00:27:45make it very
00:27:46clear that each
00:27:47day was a
00:27:47literal 24 hour
00:27:49day, the phrase
00:27:50chosen to represent
00:27:51each 24 hour
00:27:52day was evening,
00:27:54morning.
00:27:55It's the Hebrew
00:27:55Arab book,
00:27:57Kerr, which I
00:27:58said before.
00:27:59the very same
00:28:00phrasing that's
00:28:01used in Daniel
00:28:028 and verse
00:28:0314.
00:28:05Actually, Daniel
00:28:088 and verse
00:28:0814, plus one
00:28:10other passage, is
00:28:11the only place
00:28:12outside of
00:28:13Genesis chapter
00:28:131 where Arab
00:28:14booker is used.
00:28:16That's remarkable.
00:28:17That should grab
00:28:18our attention.
00:28:20This fact only
00:28:21adds to the
00:28:22weighty importance
00:28:23of the Daniel
00:28:248 and verse
00:28:2514 time
00:28:25prophecy.
00:28:26In Genesis
00:28:30chapter 1, you
00:28:32look at verses
00:28:335 and 8 and
00:28:3513 and 19 and
00:28:3723 and 31, you
00:28:39find that with
00:28:40his own mouth,
00:28:41God spoke Arab
00:28:43booker at the
00:28:45end of each
00:28:45day, each day of
00:28:47creation week.
00:28:49And in Daniel
00:28:508 and verse
00:28:5114, the same
00:28:52creator spoke
00:28:53Arab booker
00:28:54again.
00:28:54Arab booker
00:28:57as the meaning
00:28:58of a 24 hour
00:29:00day, not
00:29:01two half days,
00:29:03is as solid
00:29:04as is the
00:29:04days of creation
00:29:05week.
00:29:08And friends,
00:29:08to deny the
00:29:09one is to
00:29:10deny the
00:29:10other.
00:29:12Why is
00:29:13evening morning
00:29:13used to
00:29:14signify a
00:29:1524 hour day?
00:29:16And that's a
00:29:16good question.
00:29:18Why is it
00:29:19used?
00:29:20Well, in the
00:29:20Bible, the day
00:29:21starts at sunset.
00:29:22Most people
00:29:23don't know
00:29:23that.
00:29:24The pattern
00:29:25was given to
00:29:26us during
00:29:27creation week.
00:29:29And it is
00:29:30confirmed by
00:29:31the statement
00:29:31in Leviticus
00:29:3223, if you
00:29:33look at verse
00:29:3332, towards
00:29:34the end of
00:29:35the verse,
00:29:35it says,
00:29:36from even
00:29:36unto even
00:29:37shall ye
00:29:38celebrate your
00:29:39Sabbath.
00:29:42Let me
00:29:43share this
00:29:43with you.
00:29:44It's from
00:29:45the Bible
00:29:45Research Institute
00:29:46in their
00:29:47symposium on
00:29:49Daniel, volume
00:29:492, page
00:29:50463.
00:29:52Notice what
00:29:53they say
00:29:53about this.
00:29:59They say,
00:30:00quote,
00:30:00the expression
00:30:01evening morning
00:30:03is a time
00:30:04phrase which
00:30:05has its most
00:30:06natural roots in
00:30:07Genesis chapter
00:30:081, where the
00:30:09time unit on
00:30:10one day is
00:30:11expressed in
00:30:11the same
00:30:12terms and
00:30:13sequence as
00:30:14evening and
00:30:14morning.
00:30:16Thus, the
00:30:172300 evening
00:30:18morning phraseology
00:30:19is more
00:30:20naturally
00:30:20comprehended as
00:30:222300 full
00:30:23days.
00:30:25In symbolic
00:30:26prophecy, this
00:30:27time element
00:30:27would be
00:30:28understood as
00:30:282300 symbolic
00:30:30days.
00:30:31The expression
00:30:32evening morning
00:30:33is written in
00:30:34a singular
00:30:35number.
00:30:37This fact
00:30:38favors the
00:30:38view that the
00:30:39expression represents
00:30:40a unit of
00:30:41time, namely
00:30:42one full
00:30:43day, end
00:30:44quote.
00:30:45One full
00:30:46day.
00:30:46It's an
00:30:47expression.
00:30:47It's one
00:30:48unit.
00:30:50And so, the
00:30:51cleansing of
00:30:51the sanctuary
00:30:52is marked by
00:30:53the passing
00:30:53of 2300
00:30:54evenings and
00:30:55mornings.
00:30:58The cleansing
00:30:58of the sanctuary
00:30:59involves a
00:31:00work of
00:31:00judgment.
00:31:02It is on
00:31:02the day of
00:31:03atonement.
00:31:05Look at
00:31:06Leviticus
00:31:08chapter 23.
00:31:09Let's go
00:31:09there.
00:31:12We see that
00:31:13the cleansing
00:31:13of the sanctuary
00:31:14involves a
00:31:14work of
00:31:15judgment on
00:31:15the day of
00:31:16atonement.
00:31:17Leviticus
00:31:1823, verse
00:31:1826, and
00:31:21it says,
00:31:22And the
00:31:22Lord spake
00:31:23unto Moses,
00:31:23saying,
00:31:25Also, on
00:31:26the tenth
00:31:27day of
00:31:27this seventh
00:31:28month, there
00:31:28shall be a
00:31:29day of
00:31:29atonement.
00:31:30It shall
00:31:31be a
00:31:31holy
00:31:31convocation
00:31:32unto you,
00:31:33and ye
00:31:34shall afflict
00:31:35your souls,
00:31:36and offer
00:31:37an offering
00:31:37made by
00:31:38fire unto
00:31:38the Lord.
00:31:39Verse 28,
00:31:40And ye
00:31:40shall do
00:31:41no work
00:31:41in that
00:31:42same day,
00:31:43for it is
00:31:43a day of
00:31:44atonement,
00:31:44to make
00:31:45an atonement
00:31:46for you
00:31:46before the
00:31:47Lord your
00:31:47God.
00:31:48Verse 29,
00:31:49For whatsoever
00:31:50soul it
00:31:51be that
00:31:51shall not
00:31:52be afflicted
00:31:52in that
00:31:53same day,
00:31:54he shall
00:31:54be cut
00:31:54off from
00:31:55among his
00:31:55people.
00:31:57Verse 30,
00:31:57And whatsoever
00:31:58soul it
00:31:58be that
00:31:59doeth any
00:31:59work in
00:32:00that same
00:32:00day,
00:32:01the same
00:32:01soul will
00:32:01I destroy
00:32:02from among
00:32:04his people.
00:32:05This is
00:32:05very serious,
00:32:06isn't it?
00:32:07Verse 31,
00:32:08Ye shall
00:32:09do no
00:32:09manner of
00:32:10work,
00:32:11it shall
00:32:11be a
00:32:11statute
00:32:12forever
00:32:13throughout
00:32:13your
00:32:13generations,
00:32:14and all
00:32:14your
00:32:15dwellings.
00:32:16Verse 32,
00:32:17It shall
00:32:17be unto
00:32:17you a
00:32:18Sabbath
00:32:18of rest,
00:32:20and ye
00:32:20shall
00:32:20afflict
00:32:21your
00:32:21souls.
00:32:22In
00:32:22the
00:32:22ninth
00:32:23day
00:32:23of
00:32:23the
00:32:23month,
00:32:23at
00:32:24even,
00:32:24from
00:32:25even
00:32:25unto
00:32:26even,
00:32:27shall
00:32:27ye
00:32:28celebrate
00:32:28your
00:32:29Sabbath.
00:32:31And
00:32:31that,
00:32:32again,
00:32:33Leviticus
00:32:3423,
00:32:35verses
00:32:3626 to
00:32:3730.
00:32:39And so
00:32:39what do we
00:32:40see here?
00:32:41We see
00:32:42this day
00:32:42was the
00:32:43only
00:32:43commanded
00:32:44fast,
00:32:44don't we?
00:32:45It was a
00:32:46high day
00:32:46in Israel.
00:32:48It's called
00:32:48a Sabbath
00:32:49of rest.
00:32:50It was the
00:32:50only day
00:32:51aside from
00:32:51the weekly
00:32:52Sabbath on
00:32:53which all
00:32:53work was
00:32:54forbidden.
00:32:55The day
00:32:56of atonement
00:32:57was also a
00:32:57day of
00:32:58judgment,
00:32:58for whosoever
00:32:59did not
00:32:59afflict his
00:33:00soul that
00:33:01day,
00:33:02we read,
00:33:02was cut
00:33:03off.
00:33:05Furthermore,
00:33:05if a man
00:33:06worked on
00:33:06that day,
00:33:07the Bible
00:33:07says,
00:33:07God would
00:33:08destroy
00:33:09him.
00:33:12It's very,
00:33:12very serious
00:33:13here.
00:33:16I hope
00:33:17you notice
00:33:19a very
00:33:19important
00:33:20association
00:33:21in what
00:33:23we've just
00:33:23been talking
00:33:24about between
00:33:24the creation
00:33:25week and
00:33:26the judgment
00:33:26here in
00:33:26Daniel chapter
00:33:278.
00:33:28You see,
00:33:29the evening
00:33:30and mornings
00:33:30is a phrase
00:33:31found only in
00:33:32the creation
00:33:32story.
00:33:33And so,
00:33:35the judgment
00:33:35of the
00:33:36world is
00:33:37associated
00:33:37with the
00:33:38creation of
00:33:39the world.
00:33:41And this
00:33:41association of
00:33:42the judgment
00:33:42with creation,
00:33:44friends,
00:33:44it's also
00:33:45plainly seen
00:33:46in Revelation
00:33:46chapter 14
00:33:47and verse 7.
00:33:48What do we
00:33:49find there?
00:33:49We find the
00:33:50first angel's
00:33:50message.
00:33:51What is that
00:33:52message?
00:33:54Let's read it.
00:33:55Fear God,
00:33:56that is not
00:33:57to be afraid,
00:33:58although that
00:33:58plays a part
00:33:59of it,
00:34:00but have a
00:34:01reverent awe
00:34:02for God,
00:34:03fear God
00:34:05and give
00:34:06glory to
00:34:06Him.
00:34:07What are we
00:34:08told?
00:34:08For the
00:34:09hour of
00:34:10His judgment
00:34:11is come,
00:34:12and worship
00:34:13Him that
00:34:13did what?
00:34:14That made
00:34:16heaven and
00:34:17earth and
00:34:17the sea and
00:34:18the fountains
00:34:18of waters,
00:34:18creation.
00:34:23Indeed.
00:34:24You know,
00:34:25in Jewish
00:34:25tradition,
00:34:27the Day of
00:34:27Atonement
00:34:28marks the
00:34:28birthday of
00:34:30the world,
00:34:31the time
00:34:32when the
00:34:32first evening
00:34:33morning ever
00:34:34was.
00:34:39Now,
00:34:39let's think
00:34:40about this.
00:34:42Since the
00:34:43vision begins
00:34:45with the
00:34:45ram,
00:34:46which we
00:34:47know to be
00:34:47Media Persia,
00:34:49right,
00:34:50which held
00:34:51sway from
00:34:52539 to
00:34:53331 B.C.,
00:34:56the evening
00:34:56morning,
00:34:572,300
00:34:58vision,
00:34:59must begin
00:35:01during the
00:35:01time of the
00:35:02Medo-Persian
00:35:02Empire,
00:35:03sometime between
00:35:04539 and
00:35:05331 B.C.
00:35:07But the
00:35:082,300
00:35:08evening mornings,
00:35:10they do not
00:35:11end during the
00:35:12Medo-Persian
00:35:13period.
00:35:15We need to put
00:35:16our thinking
00:35:16caps on,
00:35:17right?
00:35:18God gave us a
00:35:18brain.
00:35:19He gave us
00:35:20intelligence.
00:35:22In Isaiah 1,
00:35:22He says,
00:35:23come, let us
00:35:23reason together.
00:35:25Let's do it.
00:35:26That's why it's
00:35:28so important for
00:35:29us to understand
00:35:29the health
00:35:30message to keep
00:35:31our brains in
00:35:33the best working
00:35:33order that they
00:35:34can be in.
00:35:38So it
00:35:39couldn't end
00:35:39during the
00:35:40Medo-Persian
00:35:40period,
00:35:41right?
00:35:42Because they
00:35:42continue until
00:35:43the time of
00:35:44the end.
00:35:44That's verse
00:35:4417.
00:35:45Or through
00:35:46the Grecian
00:35:48and the
00:35:48Little Horn
00:35:49periods.
00:35:50So again,
00:35:51the vision is
00:35:52not limited to
00:35:53Anticus
00:35:54Epiphanes or
00:35:55to the
00:35:56Little Horn
00:35:57period alone.
00:35:58It continues
00:35:58until the
00:36:01time of the
00:36:01end.
00:36:02That's what
00:36:02we're told.
00:36:05Since the
00:36:062300 evening
00:36:08mornings begin
00:36:09during the
00:36:09Medo-Persian
00:36:10period and
00:36:11continue through
00:36:12Greece and
00:36:12Rome in its
00:36:13two phases,
00:36:14and only in
00:36:15the time of
00:36:16the end,
00:36:17well, friends,
00:36:18it's clear
00:36:18in a shadow
00:36:19of a doubt
00:36:20that the
00:36:20year-day
00:36:20principle is
00:36:21functioning in
00:36:21Daniel chapter
00:36:228.
00:36:24After all,
00:36:24the rise
00:36:25and fall
00:36:25of just
00:36:26one of
00:36:26those
00:36:26empires
00:36:27depicted in
00:36:27this prophecy
00:36:28covered
00:36:29centuries,
00:36:31not merely
00:36:322300 literal
00:36:33days,
00:36:34much less
00:36:341150 literal
00:36:36days as
00:36:36some contend.
00:36:38A lot of
00:36:39that is
00:36:39preached from
00:36:40Christian
00:36:40pulpits
00:36:41today,
00:36:42errantly so.
00:36:44As Jesus
00:36:44said,
00:36:45how read
00:36:45us thou?
00:36:50Again,
00:36:51we see
00:36:51just the
00:36:52carrying on
00:36:54of the
00:36:55traditions
00:36:55of men
00:36:56and not
00:36:58the word
00:36:58of God.
00:37:01Most
00:37:01scholars of
00:37:02today,
00:37:04most Christian
00:37:05scholars,
00:37:06offer this
00:37:08convoluted
00:37:15interpretation.
00:37:16they see
00:37:18the little
00:37:19horn as
00:37:19the symbol
00:37:20for
00:37:20Antiochus
00:37:20Epiphanes,
00:37:21right?
00:37:21I've talked
00:37:21about it
00:37:22before.
00:37:23And this
00:37:23is their
00:37:24interpretation,
00:37:25that the
00:37:252300 evenings
00:37:27and mornings
00:37:28are really
00:37:28referring to
00:37:292300 evening
00:37:31and morning
00:37:31sacrifices.
00:37:33Remember,
00:37:33that word
00:37:34sacrifices has
00:37:34been added.
00:37:36But they
00:37:36say,
00:37:37oh,
00:37:37it's evening
00:37:38and morning
00:37:38sacrifices.
00:37:40How?
00:37:40How do they
00:37:41do that?
00:37:41You see,
00:37:42they take
00:37:421150 days
00:37:44times two
00:37:45sacrifices per
00:37:46day,
00:37:47evening and
00:37:47morning,
00:37:48to come up
00:37:48with 2300
00:37:49sacrifices.
00:37:52They're really
00:37:53wresting the
00:37:54scriptures out
00:37:55from what
00:37:55we're being
00:37:56told.
00:38:00And the
00:38:01reason why
00:38:01such scholars
00:38:02offer this
00:38:03novel
00:38:04interpretation
00:38:05is because
00:38:07they think
00:38:08they can make
00:38:091150 literal
00:38:11days fit much
00:38:13better with
00:38:15their theory
00:38:16that it was
00:38:18fulfilled by
00:38:18Anticus Epiphanes,
00:38:20that interpretation.
00:38:22But there
00:38:23are three,
00:38:25there are more
00:38:25than three,
00:38:27but there are
00:38:27three main
00:38:28considerations that
00:38:29make that
00:38:30interpretation
00:38:30unacceptable.
00:38:32I think I've
00:38:33shared up to
00:38:34seven reasons
00:38:36that are really
00:38:36clear.
00:38:37but I'll
00:38:39share three
00:38:39at this time.
00:38:40First,
00:38:40that the
00:38:42expression in
00:38:43Daniel 8 is
00:38:44not evening
00:38:44and morning
00:38:45sacrifices.
00:38:47The translation
00:38:48daily sacrifice
00:38:50for the word
00:38:50tamed is an
00:38:51improper reading.
00:38:52There is a
00:38:53Hebrew expression
00:38:54for daily
00:38:54sacrifice and
00:38:55it's olat
00:38:56tamed.
00:38:57But this is
00:38:58not the
00:38:58expression used
00:38:59in Daniel
00:38:59chapter 8.
00:39:01Second thing
00:39:01is that the
00:39:03daily sacrifices
00:39:03were not called
00:39:04evening and
00:39:05morning sacrifices,
00:39:06but rather
00:39:06morning and
00:39:07evening sacrifices.
00:39:09Go to
00:39:09Exodus 29
00:39:10verse 39.
00:39:12There's no
00:39:13exception to
00:39:14this order of
00:39:14the words.
00:39:16And the
00:39:17third thing
00:39:17is that the
00:39:19Hebrew of
00:39:19Daniel 8
00:39:20verse 14
00:39:21literally reads
00:39:22until evening
00:39:23morning 2300.
00:39:26This precise
00:39:27order and
00:39:28terminology are
00:39:29used in
00:39:30Genesis 1
00:39:30where after
00:39:32each of the
00:39:34first six days
00:39:34of creation we
00:39:35are told it
00:39:36was the
00:39:36evening and
00:39:37morning of
00:39:37the first
00:39:38day, second
00:39:38day, third
00:39:39day and on.
00:39:41And so here
00:39:42evening morning
00:39:42is in the
00:39:43singular, right?
00:39:45Which is a
00:39:45clear indication
00:39:46that we are
00:39:47dealing with
00:39:47single unit,
00:39:50a single
00:39:51unit composed
00:39:52of an evening
00:39:53and morning.
00:39:55Friends, you
00:39:56can't reduce the
00:39:57six days of
00:39:57creation to
00:39:58three days
00:39:59any more than
00:40:00you can reduce
00:40:01the 2300 days
00:40:02to the
00:40:031150 days.
00:40:06An extremely
00:40:08important
00:40:09nuance, I
00:40:13should say,
00:40:13which is glossed
00:40:14over in the
00:40:15English translation,
00:40:16is a change in
00:40:17the word vision.
00:40:20In verses 1
00:40:22through 15,
00:40:23Daniel 8,
00:40:26he's used
00:40:28uniformly the
00:40:29word kazan.
00:40:31And I touched
00:40:31on this from
00:40:32the very
00:40:32beginning of
00:40:33our study
00:40:33here in
00:40:35Daniel 8.
00:40:36When he's
00:40:37talking about
00:40:37vision, he
00:40:38uses the
00:40:39Hebrew word
00:40:39kazan for
00:40:40vision.
00:40:41Once in
00:40:41verse 1,
00:40:44twice in
00:40:45verse 2,
00:40:46once in
00:40:46verse 13,
00:40:48once in
00:40:48verse 15.
00:40:49But when
00:40:51Gabriel is
00:40:51commanded to
00:40:53explain the
00:40:54vision to
00:40:54Daniel, the
00:40:55word maré is
00:40:56used.
00:40:58Maré.
00:40:59And the
00:41:00impact of
00:41:00this change
00:41:01can be seen
00:41:01more clearly
00:41:02by placing
00:41:02the question
00:41:03about the
00:41:03vision and
00:41:05the command
00:41:06to explain
00:41:07it together.
00:41:09So you
00:41:10would have
00:41:11until when
00:41:12shall be
00:41:13the kazan.
00:41:15And then
00:41:15I, Daniel,
00:41:16had seen
00:41:17the kazan.
00:41:18And then
00:41:18Gabriel makes
00:41:19this man,
00:41:20and Jesus
00:41:21says,
00:41:21Gabriel,
00:41:21make this
00:41:21man understand
00:41:22the maré.
00:41:24You see
00:41:25it?
00:41:26Let me
00:41:26see if I
00:41:27can explain
00:41:31it in
00:41:32maybe terms
00:41:34we can
00:41:34better
00:41:34understand.
00:41:37Let's
00:41:37say Gabriel
00:41:38asks Jesus,
00:41:40when will
00:41:41the movie
00:41:41end?
00:41:43And then
00:41:43I say,
00:41:44hey, I've
00:41:45seen the
00:41:45movie.
00:41:47And then
00:41:47Jesus says,
00:41:48Gabriel,
00:41:49make
00:41:50Pastor
00:41:50Joel
00:41:51understand
00:41:51the
00:41:52ending
00:41:52of the
00:41:52movie.
00:41:55Does that
00:41:56make more
00:41:57sense?
00:41:59That's what's
00:42:00being said.
00:42:01There's a
00:42:02change, you
00:42:03see.
00:42:05Why is the
00:42:06Hebrew word
00:42:07vision suddenly
00:42:08changed in
00:42:08verse 16?
00:42:10I mean,
00:42:11surely there's
00:42:11got to be a
00:42:12good reason.
00:42:14Oh, and
00:42:14there is.
00:42:16You see,
00:42:16a careful
00:42:16examination of
00:42:17the occurrence
00:42:18of the
00:42:18words Kazan
00:42:19and maré
00:42:20in Daniel
00:42:21chapters 8
00:42:21through 12
00:42:22clearly reveals
00:42:23that while
00:42:24Kazan refers
00:42:25to the
00:42:26total vision
00:42:27from Medo-Persia
00:42:28to the
00:42:29cleansing of the
00:42:29sanctuary,
00:42:31maré refers in
00:42:32a narrower
00:42:32sense to the
00:42:33question the
00:42:34angel asked
00:42:34about when
00:42:35the vision
00:42:36would come
00:42:36to an end.
00:42:37The Kazan
00:42:39has to do
00:42:40with the
00:42:40totality of
00:42:41the vision
00:42:41of Daniel
00:42:428, while
00:42:42the maré
00:42:43has to do
00:42:44with the
00:42:44appearance of
00:42:45the two
00:42:45heavenly beings
00:42:46in the
00:42:46interview which
00:42:47follows.
00:42:48That's to
00:42:48say, the
00:42:49word maré
00:42:50has to do
00:42:50directly with
00:42:51the time
00:42:52element of
00:42:53the Kazan,
00:42:54the vision.
00:42:57And a
00:42:57special
00:42:58significance,
00:42:59and we
00:42:59haven't gotten
00:43:00to Daniel
00:43:008, verse
00:43:0026, but
00:43:01notice the
00:43:02reference to
00:43:03maré in
00:43:04Daniel 8,
00:43:04verse 26.
00:43:06It says,
00:43:07And the
00:43:07vision,
00:43:08maré, of
00:43:08the evening
00:43:09and the
00:43:09morning which
00:43:10was told is
00:43:11true, wherefore
00:43:12shut up the
00:43:13vision, Kazan,
00:43:14for it shall
00:43:15be for many
00:43:15days.
00:43:18And there,
00:43:20maré is
00:43:20clearly linked
00:43:21with the
00:43:21evening and
00:43:21morning aspect
00:43:22of the
00:43:222300 day
00:43:23prophecy.
00:43:24It's clear
00:43:25that the
00:43:25maré has
00:43:26to do
00:43:26with specifically
00:43:27with the
00:43:29time factor
00:43:29of the
00:43:29Kazan.
00:43:30And we'll
00:43:31find later
00:43:31in our
00:43:31study that
00:43:32while the
00:43:33Kazan was
00:43:34explained in
00:43:34Daniel 8,
00:43:35the maré
00:43:36was left
00:43:36unexplained.
00:43:39There was a
00:43:40reason why
00:43:41Gabriel had
00:43:42to go back.
00:43:44You see,
00:43:45it was left
00:43:46unexplained.
00:43:47So it made
00:43:48it necessary
00:43:48for Gabriel
00:43:49to return in
00:43:50Daniel 9 to
00:43:51clarify the
00:43:52time portion
00:43:52which was not
00:43:53clear to
00:43:54Daniel.
00:43:55Daniel.
00:43:57My wife and
00:43:58I were
00:43:58talking about
00:43:59this,
00:44:01well, I
00:44:01probably was
00:44:02talking about
00:44:02it, she
00:44:03was listening.
00:44:05You put
00:44:05yourself in
00:44:06Daniel's
00:44:06place.
00:44:08He sees
00:44:09these visions.
00:44:09He knows
00:44:10the dream of
00:44:11Nebuchadnezzar.
00:44:11He sees the
00:44:12visions of
00:44:12Daniel 7.
00:44:13He sees this
00:44:13vision.
00:44:15And Daniel
00:44:15was a
00:44:15prophet.
00:44:17Daniel
00:44:17understood the
00:44:18sanctuary fully.
00:44:20His services.
00:44:22He was
00:44:23shown things.
00:44:25And here
00:44:25he's seeing
00:44:26this vision
00:44:27of Daniel 8.
00:44:29And he's
00:44:30having trouble.
00:44:35He can't
00:44:35quite comprehend.
00:44:36He knows
00:44:37Jeremiah's
00:44:37prophecy of
00:44:38the 70
00:44:38years.
00:44:39He's an
00:44:39old man
00:44:40now.
00:44:40It's about
00:44:41to come to
00:44:41an end.
00:44:42He's looking
00:44:43forward to
00:44:43that.
00:44:44Going back
00:44:45to Jerusalem.
00:44:47Rebuilding
00:44:47the city
00:44:48and the
00:44:48temple.
00:44:49And here
00:44:50he has
00:44:50this vision.
00:44:51And he
00:44:52sees these
00:44:53abominations.
00:44:54then he
00:44:55sees this
00:44:56time span.
00:44:57And he's
00:44:58got to be
00:44:58like,
00:44:59what?
00:45:01He's
00:45:02not
00:45:02processing
00:45:03it.
00:45:06He just
00:45:07can't
00:45:08process it.
00:45:10And I
00:45:11think we
00:45:11can understand
00:45:12it because
00:45:13the vast
00:45:14majority of
00:45:14people can't
00:45:15process the
00:45:16simple parts
00:45:16of it.
00:45:18That's why
00:45:18we've got to
00:45:19search into
00:45:20the scriptures
00:45:20and dig
00:45:21into it.
00:45:21And we
00:45:23will find
00:45:23tremendous
00:45:23blessings.
00:45:27Now,
00:45:28I need to
00:45:29dedicate some
00:45:30more time to
00:45:30the translation
00:45:32issue in
00:45:33Daniel 8,
00:45:33verse 14.
00:45:34This is very
00:45:35important to
00:45:35get it right.
00:45:38The King
00:45:38James Version
00:45:39translates,
00:45:41the sanctuary
00:45:42shall be
00:45:42cleansed.
00:45:44And there
00:45:45are people
00:45:45like Desmond
00:45:45Ford,
00:45:46among others,
00:45:46who protested
00:45:47that the
00:45:48word cleansed
00:45:48is a
00:45:49mistranslation
00:45:50in the
00:45:50King
00:45:51James Version.
00:45:52In fact,
00:45:52most modern
00:45:53translations
00:45:54avoid the
00:45:54use of
00:45:54the word
00:45:55cleansed.
00:45:56I mean,
00:45:56even though
00:45:57most older
00:45:58translations of
00:45:59the Bible,
00:45:59like the
00:45:59Geneva Bible,
00:46:00the Bishop's
00:46:01Bible,
00:46:01the Great
00:46:02Bible,
00:46:03Tyndale's
00:46:03Bible,
00:46:04Wycliffe's
00:46:05Bible,
00:46:05the Coptic
00:46:06Version,
00:46:06the Syriac
00:46:07Version,
00:46:07the Latin
00:46:08Vulgate,
00:46:08they all
00:46:08have the
00:46:10translation as
00:46:11cleansed.
00:46:13But instead
00:46:14of using
00:46:15cleansed,
00:46:17they use
00:46:18translations
00:46:18such as
00:46:20shall be
00:46:20justified,
00:46:21or shall
00:46:22emerge
00:46:22victorious,
00:46:24or shall
00:46:25be vindicated,
00:46:26shall be
00:46:27restored to
00:46:27its rightful
00:46:28state.
00:46:29So,
00:46:30what's the
00:46:30proper
00:46:31translation?
00:46:33Well,
00:46:33on the
00:46:34surface,
00:46:34Desmond
00:46:35Ford appears
00:46:35to have a
00:46:36point.
00:46:37The word
00:46:38cleansed does
00:46:39not appear in
00:46:39the Hebrew,
00:46:40but is based
00:46:41rather on the
00:46:42Septuagint.
00:46:42That's the
00:46:43Greek translation
00:46:44of the Old
00:46:45Testament.
00:46:47And it
00:46:47uses the
00:46:48word
00:46:48katerizo,
00:46:51whose basic
00:46:51meaning is to
00:46:52cleanse or
00:46:53purge.
00:46:54Incidentally,
00:46:55this is where
00:46:55we get the
00:46:55word catharsis
00:46:57from.
00:46:58I don't know,
00:46:58these things
00:46:59pop into my
00:46:59mind.
00:47:02And so,
00:47:02the King
00:47:03James Version
00:47:03translation is
00:47:04based on
00:47:05another translation
00:47:06and not on
00:47:06the original
00:47:07Hebrew.
00:47:08Well,
00:47:09then the
00:47:09question is,
00:47:10what is the
00:47:11Hebrew word
00:47:11in Daniel 8
00:47:12verse 14?
00:47:14And I spoke
00:47:14about this in
00:47:15our last
00:47:15study.
00:47:16The original
00:47:19Hebrew verb
00:47:20is tzedak
00:47:20in its
00:47:21passive form.
00:47:22And what
00:47:23is the
00:47:23meaning of
00:47:23tzedak?
00:47:25Well,
00:47:25according to
00:47:26the Hebrew
00:47:26lexicons,
00:47:27the word
00:47:27tzedak
00:47:28means to
00:47:29put right
00:47:30or to
00:47:30restore.
00:47:31It means
00:47:32to cleanse
00:47:33or to
00:47:34vindicate.
00:47:35And a few
00:47:36actually say
00:47:37it means to
00:47:37be justified.
00:47:41Tzedak is
00:47:42not a word
00:47:43which is
00:47:43connected
00:47:44with the
00:47:45ritual of
00:47:46the sanctuary,
00:47:47but rather
00:47:47it's a
00:47:48legal term.
00:47:50It's used
00:47:50in the
00:47:50context of
00:47:51a court
00:47:51of law.
00:47:53Its basic
00:47:54emphasis is
00:47:55on the
00:47:55vindication
00:47:56of an
00:47:56innocent
00:47:57party who's
00:47:57been falsely
00:47:58accused.
00:48:00The vindication
00:48:01process is
00:48:02performed in
00:48:02a court of
00:48:03law where
00:48:03the judge
00:48:03employs all
00:48:05the powers
00:48:05at his
00:48:06disposal to
00:48:07make sure
00:48:07that the
00:48:08injured party
00:48:09is vindicated.
00:48:10And you'll
00:48:13see here how
00:48:14this makes
00:48:14sense.
00:48:17If Daniel
00:48:18chapter 8
00:48:19verse 14 is
00:48:20dealing with
00:48:21the cleansing
00:48:21of the
00:48:21sanctuary on
00:48:22the day of
00:48:23atonement,
00:48:24then why
00:48:24didn't Daniel
00:48:24use the
00:48:25Hebrew word
00:48:25tahir,
00:48:26which is the
00:48:27word for
00:48:27cleansing that
00:48:28you find in
00:48:29Leviticus 16?
00:48:31Why did he
00:48:32use the word
00:48:32tzedak instead?
00:48:34Well, it
00:48:35actually turns
00:48:36out to be
00:48:37very simple.
00:48:38When we put
00:48:39our thinking
00:48:39caps on and
00:48:40we look at
00:48:40it, the
00:48:41greater context
00:48:42of it, those
00:48:44messages for
00:48:45us in our
00:48:45day, we
00:48:46have a hard
00:48:46enough time
00:48:47to understand
00:48:47in English.
00:48:49So why was
00:48:50it changed
00:48:50up like
00:48:51this?
00:48:52Well, the
00:48:53Hebrew word
00:48:53tahir is a
00:48:54technical term
00:48:55with a very
00:48:56restricted and
00:48:58narrow meaning.
00:49:00It's used
00:49:00over 50 times
00:49:01in the book
00:49:02of Leviticus
00:49:02to describe
00:49:03the cultic
00:49:04ritual ceremonial
00:49:06cleansing in
00:49:06connection with
00:49:07the earthly
00:49:08sanctuary
00:49:09service.
00:49:12The use of
00:49:13this term in
00:49:14Daniel 8
00:49:14verse 14,
00:49:16it would have
00:49:17left us an
00:49:18impression, you
00:49:19see, that the
00:49:19sanctuary to be
00:49:20cleansed was the
00:49:21earthly,
00:49:22typological
00:49:23sanctuary.
00:49:25But Daniel 8
00:49:27verse 14 deals
00:49:28with the
00:49:28cleansing not
00:49:29of the Old
00:49:30Testament
00:49:30shadowy type,
00:49:32but of the
00:49:33heavenly reality
00:49:34original.
00:49:34And so,
00:49:37Daniel uses a
00:49:38broader term.
00:49:41Smartly so.
00:49:42Holy Spirit
00:49:43led him to do
00:49:43that.
00:49:45The Hebrew
00:49:46word tzedak
00:49:46has a broad
00:49:47range of
00:49:48meaning,
00:49:48which includes
00:49:49vindication,
00:49:51setting things
00:49:51right,
00:49:52restoring things
00:49:52to the way
00:49:53they originally
00:49:53were,
00:49:54to be justified
00:49:55as well as
00:49:56cleansing.
00:49:57And so,
00:49:58the word tzedak
00:49:58is kind of like
00:50:00a diamond.
00:50:02It's beautiful,
00:50:03but it has
00:50:04many edges,
00:50:05doesn't it?
00:50:06It's one word
00:50:07with many
00:50:08nuances.
00:50:11Maybe,
00:50:12maybe an
00:50:15analogy from
00:50:15the English
00:50:16language might
00:50:17help.
00:50:19When legal
00:50:20proceedings are
00:50:21undertaken against
00:50:22an innocent
00:50:22person in our
00:50:24system of law,
00:50:27it becomes
00:50:27necessary for
00:50:28this person to
00:50:29be vindicated.
00:50:31The record
00:50:32must be set
00:50:32right,
00:50:34set straight.
00:50:36The person
00:50:36must be justified
00:50:37from all
00:50:38charges.
00:50:39And when this
00:50:39is done,
00:50:40and the person
00:50:40is found
00:50:41innocent,
00:50:41the charges
00:50:42are expunged.
00:50:44And that's a
00:50:44legal word
00:50:45whose meaning
00:50:45is to remove
00:50:46completely,
00:50:47to blot out,
00:50:47to erase,
00:50:48to cancel,
00:50:49to delete.
00:50:50So the result
00:50:51of the judgment
00:50:52of that person
00:50:54includes
00:50:54justification,
00:50:56vindication,
00:50:57restoration,
00:50:58giving the
00:50:58person a clean
00:50:59slate because
00:50:59the charges
00:51:00have been erased.
00:51:01It would be
00:51:03absurd to say
00:51:05that vindication
00:51:06does not
00:51:07include blotting
00:51:08out or cleansing
00:51:09the charges.
00:51:11Does that
00:51:11make sense?
00:51:14The fact
00:51:15is that in
00:51:17Daniel 8,
00:51:18the reputation
00:51:18of God and
00:51:19his people has
00:51:19been smeared
00:51:20by the little
00:51:21horn.
00:51:22A judicial
00:51:23proceeding in
00:51:24the heavenly
00:51:24sanctuary must
00:51:25set the record
00:51:26straight.
00:51:26It must
00:51:27vindicate.
00:51:27It must
00:51:28justify.
00:51:29It must
00:51:29expunge the
00:51:31false
00:51:31accusations.
00:51:34In Daniel 7,
00:51:35we know that
00:51:36it presents a
00:51:37similar scenario.
00:51:39The little
00:51:40horn has
00:51:41killed the
00:51:41saints,
00:51:42changed God's
00:51:43times,
00:51:44changed God's
00:51:44law,
00:51:45blasphemed God.
00:51:46It has yet,
00:51:47and yet,
00:51:48things have
00:51:49gone very well
00:51:50for that little
00:51:51horn power.
00:51:51horn.
00:51:54And so,
00:51:54the record
00:51:54must be set
00:51:55straight.
00:51:57And this is
00:51:58done by opening
00:51:58the books and
00:51:59judging the
00:52:00brazen little
00:52:00horn.
00:52:01And at the
00:52:02end of the
00:52:03judgment,
00:52:03the kingdom
00:52:03is given
00:52:04once again
00:52:05to the
00:52:05Son of Man,
00:52:06who is the
00:52:07same person
00:52:07as the
00:52:07Prince of
00:52:08the Host,
00:52:10and to the
00:52:10saints of the
00:52:11Most High,
00:52:12to whom it
00:52:12belonged to
00:52:13in the
00:52:13first place.
00:52:17There is
00:52:17actually a
00:52:18remarkable
00:52:23parallel between
00:52:25the thematic
00:52:26sequence of
00:52:26Daniel 8 and
00:52:27Leviticus
00:52:28chapters 1
00:52:29through 16.
00:52:32Remarkable
00:52:32parallel.
00:52:34In Daniel
00:52:34chapter 8
00:52:35verses 1
00:52:38to 12,
00:52:38we find the
00:52:39little horn
00:52:40interfering with
00:52:40the daily
00:52:41ministration of
00:52:41the Prince of
00:52:42the Host.
00:52:43But then when
00:52:44we get to
00:52:44Daniel 8
00:52:45verses 13
00:52:45and 14,
00:52:46the focus
00:52:46shifts to
00:52:48the yearly
00:52:48ministration,
00:52:50the justification
00:52:51or the
00:52:51cleansing of
00:52:52the sanctuary.
00:52:53And this,
00:52:54remarkably so,
00:52:55is the same
00:52:55sequence we
00:52:56find in
00:52:57Leviticus
00:52:57chapters 1
00:52:58through 16.
00:52:59In chapters
00:52:591 through 15,
00:53:01we find the
00:53:01emphasis on
00:53:02the daily
00:53:02ministration
00:53:03in the
00:53:04court and
00:53:05in the
00:53:05holy place
00:53:06in favor of
00:53:07the individual
00:53:07Israelites.
00:53:09But when
00:53:10you get to
00:53:10chapter 16,
00:53:12the focus
00:53:13shifts.
00:53:15It shifts
00:53:16from the
00:53:16individual
00:53:17Israelite
00:53:18to the
00:53:19cleansing
00:53:19of the
00:53:21entire
00:53:21sanctuary.
00:53:25Now,
00:53:25some
00:53:25scholars,
00:53:28and if you
00:53:28do your
00:53:28research,
00:53:29you've come
00:53:29across these
00:53:30guys,
00:53:31they've argued
00:53:32that Daniel 8
00:53:34verse 14
00:53:35cannot be
00:53:36connected with
00:53:37Leviticus 16
00:53:37because in
00:53:38Daniel 8
00:53:39verse 14,
00:53:40it's an
00:53:41apostate power
00:53:42which defiles
00:53:43the sanctuary.
00:53:44well,
00:53:46in Leviticus 16
00:53:46is the
00:53:47confessed sins
00:53:48of God's
00:53:49people which
00:53:50have defiled
00:53:51it.
00:53:52And so
00:53:53they say
00:53:53there's a
00:53:54difference
00:53:54there.
00:53:57But my
00:53:58question is,
00:53:59are these
00:54:00two
00:54:00emphases
00:54:01mutually
00:54:02exclusive
00:54:02or are
00:54:03they
00:54:03complementary?
00:54:03is the
00:54:06sanctuary
00:54:06polluted
00:54:07only by
00:54:07the
00:54:08confessed
00:54:08sins
00:54:08of
00:54:08God's
00:54:09people
00:54:09or is
00:54:09it
00:54:10also
00:54:10defiled
00:54:10by the
00:54:11sins
00:54:11of those
00:54:11who
00:54:12profess
00:54:13to be
00:54:13God's
00:54:13people
00:54:14and yet
00:54:15are
00:54:15imposters?
00:54:17Or maybe
00:54:17change
00:54:18their minds?
00:54:19And so
00:54:22let's take a
00:54:22few moments
00:54:23to study
00:54:23just one
00:54:24passage.
00:54:25I could
00:54:26study lots
00:54:27of them.
00:54:28But let's
00:54:29look at one
00:54:29passage from
00:54:30the Old
00:54:30Testament to
00:54:30help answer
00:54:31these questions
00:54:32that I'm
00:54:34sure I'm
00:54:34not the
00:54:34only one
00:54:35that's had
00:54:35these
00:54:35questions.
00:54:38The book
00:54:39of Zephaniah.
00:54:40It's a very
00:54:41fascinating book.
00:54:43Though the
00:54:43book deals
00:54:44with God's
00:54:44judgment upon
00:54:45Israel at
00:54:46the Babylonian
00:54:47captivity,
00:54:48the language
00:54:49makes it
00:54:49very clear
00:54:49that this
00:54:50judgment
00:54:50prefigures
00:54:51God's
00:54:52great judgment
00:54:53at the
00:54:53end of
00:54:53time.
00:54:55And we
00:54:55are
00:54:55particularly
00:54:57concerned
00:54:58here with
00:54:59chapter 3
00:54:59here in
00:55:00Zephaniah
00:55:01and verses
00:55:031-7.
00:55:06And we're
00:55:06going to
00:55:07read them.
00:55:08Zephaniah 3,
00:55:10let's look at
00:55:11verse 1.
00:55:11Woe to
00:55:12her that is
00:55:12filthy and
00:55:13polluted.
00:55:14Right off
00:55:15the bat.
00:55:15Woe to
00:55:19her that
00:55:19is filthy
00:55:20and polluted
00:55:23to the
00:55:23oppressing
00:55:24city.
00:55:24She
00:55:25obeyed not
00:55:25the voice.
00:55:27She received
00:55:27not correction.
00:55:29She trusted
00:55:29not in the
00:55:30Lord.
00:55:31She drew
00:55:31not near
00:55:32to God.
00:55:33Her princes
00:55:34within her
00:55:34are roaring
00:55:35lions.
00:55:36Her judges
00:55:37are evening
00:55:38wolves.
00:55:39They gnaw not
00:55:40the bones
00:55:40till the
00:55:41morrow.
00:55:42Her prophets
00:55:42are light and
00:55:43treacherous
00:55:44persons.
00:55:45Her priests
00:55:46What's that?
00:55:49Who are
00:55:49priests?
00:55:50They belong
00:55:50to the
00:55:51church?
00:55:53Yeah?
00:55:54Her priests
00:55:55have polluted
00:55:55the sanctuary.
00:55:59Right?
00:56:00They have
00:56:00done violence
00:56:01to the
00:56:02law.
00:56:04The just
00:56:04Lord is in
00:56:05the midst
00:56:05thereof.
00:56:06He will
00:56:06not do
00:56:07iniquity.
00:56:08Every morning
00:56:08doth he bring
00:56:09his judgment
00:56:10to light.
00:56:10He faileth
00:56:11not.
00:56:11But the
00:56:12unjust
00:56:13knoweth
00:56:14no shame.
00:56:19I have
00:56:19cut off
00:56:20the nations.
00:56:21Their towers
00:56:21are desolate.
00:56:22I made
00:56:22their streets
00:56:23waste that
00:56:24none passeth
00:56:25by.
00:56:25Their cities
00:56:26are destroyed
00:56:27so that
00:56:28there is no
00:56:28man,
00:56:29that there
00:56:29is none
00:56:30inhabitant.
00:56:31I said
00:56:31surely
00:56:32thou
00:56:32will fear
00:56:33me.
00:56:34Thou
00:56:34will receive
00:56:35instruction
00:56:35so their
00:56:37dwellings
00:56:37should not
00:56:38be cut
00:56:38off.
00:56:39Howsoever
00:56:40I
00:56:40punished
00:56:41them.
00:56:42Notice
00:56:42he says
00:56:43but they
00:56:43rose
00:56:44early
00:56:44and
00:56:45corrupted
00:56:46all
00:56:47their
00:56:48doings.
00:56:52Well it's
00:56:53clear here
00:56:53that God
00:56:56is not just
00:56:57speaking about
00:56:58unbelievers,
00:57:00he's speaking
00:57:01about the
00:57:01church.
00:57:02did you
00:57:05pick up
00:57:05on that?
00:57:08I mean
00:57:08here God
00:57:09calls
00:57:09Jerusalem
00:57:09and that's
00:57:11the city
00:57:11where his
00:57:12people dwell,
00:57:14he calls
00:57:14them filthy
00:57:15and polluted.
00:57:18In
00:57:19verse 5,
00:57:19the filthy
00:57:20and polluted
00:57:20ones are
00:57:21called
00:57:21unjust.
00:57:24Once again
00:57:25we find a
00:57:26link between
00:57:26the idea
00:57:27of being
00:57:28filthy
00:57:29and being
00:57:29unjust
00:57:30or unrighteous.
00:57:33God's
00:57:34own people
00:57:34are accused
00:57:35of not
00:57:35obeying
00:57:36his
00:57:36voice.
00:57:37Verse 2.
00:57:39Then the
00:57:40religious leaders
00:57:41are singled
00:57:42out in this
00:57:42apostasy.
00:57:44The princes,
00:57:44the judges,
00:57:45the prophets
00:57:46and the
00:57:46priests.
00:57:47Verses 3
00:57:47and 4.
00:57:49And of
00:57:49particular
00:57:50significance
00:57:50is the
00:57:51declaration
00:57:51in verse 4
00:57:52that her
00:57:52priests have
00:57:53polluted
00:57:54the sanctuary.
00:57:55They have
00:57:56done
00:57:56violence
00:57:57to the
00:57:58law.
00:58:02What do
00:58:02we find
00:58:03out about
00:58:03this?
00:58:04What do
00:58:04we learn?
00:58:06It's
00:58:06possible for
00:58:07apostate
00:58:08priests who
00:58:08claim to
00:58:09serve God
00:58:10to pollute
00:58:11the sanctuary.
00:58:13And if
00:58:14that isn't
00:58:14clear,
00:58:15then I
00:58:15suggest you
00:58:16go to
00:58:17Ezekiel 8
00:58:17and read
00:58:18the entire
00:58:18chapter.
00:58:19It speaks
00:58:19of all the
00:58:20abominations
00:58:20that the
00:58:21priests were
00:58:21doing in
00:58:21the temple
00:58:22of God.
00:58:23And for
00:58:24this reason,
00:58:25God promises
00:58:25to come in
00:58:26judgment against
00:58:26those who
00:58:27profess to
00:58:27be his
00:58:28own
00:58:28people.
00:58:33Zephaniah
00:58:333 and
00:58:33verse 8
00:58:34makes it
00:58:34very clear
00:58:35that this
00:58:35judgment has
00:58:36much more
00:58:36than Israel
00:58:37in view
00:58:37too.
00:58:38Look what
00:58:39it says
00:58:39there.
00:58:40Quote,
00:58:41Therefore
00:58:41wait ye
00:58:42upon me,
00:58:42saith the
00:58:43Lord,
00:58:43until the
00:58:43day that
00:58:44I rise
00:58:44up to
00:58:44the
00:58:45prey.
00:58:45For
00:58:46my
00:58:46determination
00:58:46is to
00:58:47gather
00:58:48the
00:58:48nations,
00:58:49that I
00:58:49may
00:58:49assemble
00:58:50the
00:58:50kingdoms
00:58:50to
00:58:51pour
00:58:51upon
00:58:51them
00:58:52mine
00:58:52indignation,
00:58:53even
00:58:54all my
00:58:54fierce
00:58:54anger,
00:58:55for
00:58:56all the
00:58:57earth
00:58:57shall
00:58:57be
00:58:57devoured
00:58:58with
00:58:58the
00:58:58fire
00:58:59of
00:58:59my
00:59:00jealousy.
00:59:02That's
00:59:02Zephaniah
00:59:033 and
00:59:03verse 8.
00:59:04It's a
00:59:05judgment of
00:59:05the whole
00:59:06world at
00:59:06the end
00:59:06of time.
00:59:08The rest
00:59:09of the
00:59:09chapter is
00:59:10composed of
00:59:10promises of
00:59:11restoration for
00:59:12those who
00:59:12remain faithful
00:59:13to God.
00:59:13I suggest
00:59:14you study it.
00:59:15Read it
00:59:15yourself.
00:59:15So in
00:59:21a
00:59:21kind of
00:59:23summary
00:59:23here,
00:59:23a full
00:59:24understanding
00:59:25of
00:59:27Nisdak
00:59:27includes a
00:59:29rather broad
00:59:30collection of
00:59:30meanings.
00:59:33Right?
00:59:34Including
00:59:35cleansing,
00:59:36vindicating,
00:59:37justifying,
00:59:38setting right,
00:59:38restoring.
00:59:40And according
00:59:40to the words
00:59:41of the
00:59:41wonderful
00:59:42numberer,
00:59:43the actual
00:59:44work done
00:59:45in the
00:59:45heavenly
00:59:45sanctuary
00:59:46beginning in
00:59:471844 A.D.
00:59:48would include
00:59:49all those
00:59:49concepts.
00:59:50Not only
00:59:51cleansing,
00:59:51but also
00:59:52the
00:59:52investigative
00:59:53judgment.
00:59:56And let
00:59:56me say
00:59:57this.
00:59:59I start
01:00:00to kind
01:00:00of wrap
01:00:01it up.
01:00:03The
01:00:04correct
01:00:04interpretation
01:00:05of the
01:00:072300
01:00:08days
01:00:08also
01:00:10depends
01:00:10on
01:00:11several
01:00:12factors.
01:00:13And we'll
01:00:14get into
01:00:15the details
01:00:16of these
01:00:17when we
01:00:17get to
01:00:18Daniel
01:00:18chapter
01:00:189.
01:00:19But here's
01:00:20three factors
01:00:21I want to
01:00:21throw out
01:00:21there at
01:00:22you,
01:00:22at least
01:00:22to get
01:00:23you
01:00:23started
01:00:23on them.
01:00:24I briefly
01:00:24mentioned
01:00:25them throughout
01:00:25this series
01:00:26of the
01:00:28desolator,
01:00:29Daniel
01:00:29chapter
01:00:298.
01:00:30One is
01:00:31that 70
01:00:32weeks are
01:00:32the first
01:00:33part of
01:00:34the 2300
01:00:35day prophecy.
01:00:37And we'll
01:00:38learn that
01:00:38they began
01:00:39in 457
01:00:39B.C.
01:00:40Second
01:00:40thing is
01:00:41the 2300
01:00:41days are
01:00:42symbolic
01:00:43of years,
01:00:44which we
01:00:44study in
01:00:45depth in
01:00:45Daniel
01:00:45chapter 7.
01:00:46We'll
01:00:46get into
01:00:47it even
01:00:47more so
01:00:48in
01:00:49Daniel
01:00:509.
01:00:51As well
01:00:52as there's
01:00:52no gap
01:00:53between the
01:00:5469th and
01:00:5470th week
01:00:55that virtually
01:00:56all
01:00:57Christendom
01:00:58teaches.
01:01:00I don't
01:01:01want to
01:01:01get off
01:01:02on tangents
01:01:03on that,
01:01:05but we
01:01:05will touch
01:01:06on it.
01:01:06Remember
01:01:06we talked
01:01:07about
01:01:07the
01:01:11correct
01:01:13prophetical
01:01:15interpretation
01:01:16principles
01:01:18that must
01:01:19be used.
01:01:20We did
01:01:20that,
01:01:21I spent
01:01:21a couple
01:01:22of studies
01:01:22on that
01:01:23to lay
01:01:23that out,
01:01:24the biblical
01:01:24way to
01:01:25interpret
01:01:26prophecy.
01:01:28But there
01:01:29are scholars
01:01:29who have
01:01:29left the
01:01:307th Adventist
01:01:31faith that
01:01:31have always
01:01:31questioned
01:01:32the
01:01:33historicist
01:01:34interpretation
01:01:34of the
01:01:352300 days.
01:01:37Men like
01:01:38Canterite
01:01:38and Ballinger
01:01:39and Fletcher
01:01:39and I
01:01:39mentioned
01:01:40Ford,
01:01:40Rassliff
01:01:41and on
01:01:42and on.
01:01:43And we
01:01:43looked at
01:01:43this before,
01:01:44like I
01:01:44said,
01:01:45at the
01:01:45beginning
01:01:45of the
01:01:45prophecy
01:01:46series.
01:01:48The three
01:01:48main
01:01:49interpretations
01:01:50of prophecy,
01:01:51right,
01:01:51those
01:01:51principles,
01:01:52historicism,
01:01:53and then
01:01:53preterism
01:01:54and futurism
01:01:55with the
01:01:55last two
01:01:56being a
01:01:56response
01:01:57from the
01:01:58papacy
01:01:58to the
01:01:58correct
01:01:59principle
01:01:59of
01:02:00interpretation
01:02:01that laid
01:02:01bare who
01:02:02that
01:02:02little horn
01:02:02power truly
01:02:03was.
01:02:06But I'll
01:02:06tell you
01:02:07this,
01:02:10Satan does
01:02:10not like
01:02:11this prophecy
01:02:11in Daniel.
01:02:14I'll tell
01:02:15you that.
01:02:17A wrong
01:02:18beginning
01:02:20and ending
01:02:21date for
01:02:21the 70
01:02:22weeks
01:02:22destroys
01:02:24the 1844
01:02:25date and
01:02:27is an
01:02:27attack on
01:02:28the ministry
01:02:28of Christ.
01:02:30In fact,
01:02:31separating the
01:02:3170th week
01:02:32from the
01:02:33previous
01:02:3369
01:02:33totally
01:02:35obliterates
01:02:35the date
01:02:36of 1844
01:02:36when Jesus
01:02:37moved into
01:02:37the most
01:02:38holy place
01:02:38and the
01:02:39judgment
01:02:39began.
01:02:41You see,
01:02:41Satan wants
01:02:42to hide
01:02:42the fact
01:02:42that the
01:02:43world is
01:02:43now being
01:02:44judged.
01:02:46If there
01:02:46is a
01:02:462,000 year
01:02:47gap between
01:02:48the 69th
01:02:49and the
01:02:4970th week,
01:02:50then the
01:02:50cleansing of
01:02:51the sanctuary
01:02:51didn't begin
01:02:52in 1844
01:02:53AD.
01:02:53And this
01:02:56is why
01:02:56there are
01:02:56actually two
01:02:57diametrically
01:02:58opposed
01:02:59interpretive
01:03:00fallacies
01:03:00hailed by
01:03:01the same
01:03:02church,
01:03:02the Roman
01:03:03Catholic
01:03:03Church.
01:03:04Church is
01:03:05to be built
01:03:06and is based
01:03:06upon the
01:03:07foundation of
01:03:08truth and
01:03:08you have a
01:03:09church that
01:03:10has two
01:03:10opposing
01:03:11teachings that
01:03:13they say is
01:03:14the truth.
01:03:17There should
01:03:17be a heads
01:03:18up there
01:03:18somewhere.
01:03:18I mean,
01:03:21you don't
01:03:21have to be a
01:03:22scholar to
01:03:22see,
01:03:23well,
01:03:23they say
01:03:24this and
01:03:24then they
01:03:25say the
01:03:25exact opposite
01:03:26and they
01:03:26say both
01:03:27are the
01:03:27truth.
01:03:28Somebody's
01:03:29lying.
01:03:30Liars
01:03:31won't be
01:03:31in the
01:03:32kingdom and
01:03:33God's church
01:03:34does not
01:03:34lie.
01:03:36God's not
01:03:36a liar.
01:03:44But the
01:03:45judgment,
01:03:46friends,
01:03:47is not the
01:03:47only thing
01:03:48that's at
01:03:48stake.
01:03:49The
01:03:50pioneers of
01:03:51the Seventh-day
01:03:51Adventist
01:03:52Church discovered
01:03:53a whole cluster
01:03:53of truth
01:03:54shortly after
01:03:571844 A.D.
01:03:59Why did
01:04:00they discover
01:04:01that?
01:04:03There's one
01:04:04reason.
01:04:06Jesus moved
01:04:07from the
01:04:08holy place,
01:04:10that ministry
01:04:11he was
01:04:11doing,
01:04:13and continues
01:04:14to do,
01:04:15he moved
01:04:16into the
01:04:17most holy
01:04:17place.
01:04:18And what
01:04:18is in the
01:04:18most holy
01:04:19place?
01:04:22You have
01:04:22the Ark of
01:04:23the Covenant
01:04:23and there
01:04:25are things
01:04:25within that
01:04:26Ark that
01:04:28then came
01:04:28to light.
01:04:29and the
01:04:33mutability of
01:04:34the Ten
01:04:34commandment
01:04:34law.
01:04:36These are
01:04:37the things
01:04:37that were
01:04:38uncovered.
01:04:41The
01:04:41Sabbath being
01:04:41the seventh
01:04:42day,
01:04:42not the
01:04:42first day.
01:04:43The investigative
01:04:44judgment,
01:04:45the true
01:04:45state of the
01:04:46dead,
01:04:47the health
01:04:47message,
01:04:48the gift
01:04:49of prophecy,
01:04:50the three
01:04:50angels'
01:04:51messages that
01:04:51explain it
01:04:52all.
01:04:52these are
01:04:56the very
01:04:56truths that
01:04:57the Christian
01:04:57world rejects
01:04:58to this
01:04:58day.
01:05:00And you
01:05:01know what?
01:05:01Satan used
01:05:02the great
01:05:02disappointment
01:05:02in 1844
01:05:03to lead the
01:05:05Christian world
01:05:05to repudiate
01:05:06historicism as
01:05:08the only method
01:05:09that interprets
01:05:10Bible prophecy.
01:05:12So friends,
01:05:13we need to be
01:05:14very clear about
01:05:15the 2300 days
01:05:16of Daniel 8
01:05:17and verse 14
01:05:17and all that
01:05:18it encompasses.
01:05:23Here's a
01:05:23great quote
01:05:24I want to
01:05:25share with
01:05:25you from
01:05:27J.N.
01:05:28Andrews.
01:05:31He wrote
01:05:31something,
01:05:32it was entitled
01:05:33Order of
01:05:33Events in the
01:05:34Judgment,
01:05:34you find this
01:05:35on pages 83
01:05:36and 84.
01:05:38And he
01:05:39begins by
01:05:39quoting Daniel
01:05:40chapter 8
01:05:41verses 13
01:05:41and 14.
01:05:43And then he
01:05:44says,
01:05:45here is an
01:05:45event to
01:05:47transpire in
01:05:48the conclusion
01:05:49of this
01:05:49vision.
01:05:50In other
01:05:50words,
01:05:50it occurs in
01:05:51the end of
01:05:53the gospel
01:05:53dispensation.
01:05:55The sanctuary
01:05:56to be cleansed
01:05:57at the conclusion
01:05:58of the new
01:05:59covenant
01:05:59dispensation
01:06:00must be the
01:06:01sanctuary of
01:06:02the new
01:06:02covenant.
01:06:04So many
01:06:05teach that,
01:06:06oh, that's
01:06:06an Old
01:06:06Testament.
01:06:09We're in
01:06:10the new
01:06:10covenant,
01:06:10we're in
01:06:11the new
01:06:11testament.
01:06:12Love,
01:06:12love,
01:06:13love,
01:06:13love,
01:06:13love,
01:06:13love,
01:06:13love,
01:06:14love.
01:06:17One of my
01:06:18members always
01:06:19said,
01:06:19sloppy
01:06:19agape.
01:06:24Here,
01:06:26Andrew
01:06:27says,
01:06:29the sanctuary
01:06:29to be cleansed
01:06:30at the
01:06:30conclusion of
01:06:31the new
01:06:31covenant
01:06:31dispensation
01:06:32must be the
01:06:34sanctuary of
01:06:34the new
01:06:35covenant.
01:06:36He says,
01:06:36a sanctuary
01:06:37implies of
01:06:38necessity
01:06:39a priesthood.
01:06:41The cleansing
01:06:42of the
01:06:42sanctuary
01:06:43is that
01:06:44event
01:06:44which
01:06:44completes
01:06:45the work
01:06:45of the
01:06:46priest
01:06:46who
01:06:47ministers
01:06:47therein.
01:06:49When,
01:06:50therefore,
01:06:50we read
01:06:51of the
01:06:52cleansing
01:06:52of the
01:06:53sanctuary
01:06:53at the
01:06:54end of
01:06:54the 2300
01:06:55days,
01:06:56we understand
01:06:57that this
01:06:58is the
01:06:58closing
01:06:58event
01:06:59of the
01:07:00priesthood
01:07:01of the
01:07:01Son of
01:07:02God.
01:07:03It is
01:07:04of necessity
01:07:05a work
01:07:06which brings
01:07:06human
01:07:07probation
01:07:07to a
01:07:08close
01:07:08and marks
01:07:09the transition
01:07:10from the
01:07:12priesthood
01:07:12to the
01:07:13kingly
01:07:14office
01:07:14of the
01:07:16Savior.
01:07:17End quote.
01:07:21You know,
01:07:21the question
01:07:22that comes
01:07:22up the
01:07:24most from
01:07:24verse 14
01:07:25is,
01:07:26why would
01:07:26the sanctuary
01:07:27be cleansed
01:07:27at the
01:07:28end of
01:07:28the 2300
01:07:29years?
01:07:31What in
01:07:32it,
01:07:33the sanctuary,
01:07:33could need
01:07:34cleaning?
01:07:37We're
01:07:38speaking about
01:07:38a building,
01:07:40essentially,
01:07:40that's in
01:07:41heaven,
01:07:41right?
01:07:42Temple.
01:07:42The
01:07:43earthly
01:07:44type
01:07:44actually
01:07:45explains
01:07:45this.
01:07:47The
01:07:47tabernacle
01:07:48needed
01:07:48cleansing
01:07:49at the
01:07:49end of
01:07:49each
01:07:49year,
01:07:50right?
01:07:50Even
01:07:50though
01:07:51no
01:07:53physical
01:07:53dirt
01:07:54ever
01:07:55entered
01:07:55it,
01:07:57the
01:07:58day of
01:07:58atonement
01:07:59procedure
01:08:00is carefully
01:08:01explained,
01:08:02as I said,
01:08:02in Leviticus
01:08:0316.
01:08:03But I'm
01:08:04not going
01:08:04to go
01:08:04through
01:08:05the whole
01:08:06chapter.
01:08:08I encourage
01:08:09you to go
01:08:09back,
01:08:10study Leviticus
01:08:1016.
01:08:11But I'm
01:08:13going to
01:08:15lay out
01:08:15maybe some
01:08:16points here,
01:08:17something to
01:08:17think about.
01:08:20The
01:08:21key concern
01:08:22here is
01:08:23the transfer
01:08:24of sin.
01:08:26You see,
01:08:26in the daily
01:08:26service,
01:08:27the sin
01:08:28of the
01:08:28person
01:08:28was
01:08:29continually
01:08:30transferred,
01:08:31either to
01:08:32the sacrificial
01:08:32animal,
01:08:33or to
01:08:34the priest.
01:08:35And the
01:08:36blood of
01:08:36the animals
01:08:37was then
01:08:37taken into
01:08:38the first
01:08:38apartment,
01:08:39and it
01:08:39was sprinkled.
01:08:39That act
01:08:41ceremonially,
01:08:42get that
01:08:43word out,
01:08:44transferred the
01:08:45sin from
01:08:45the person
01:08:45to the
01:08:46tabernacle.
01:08:47Now,
01:08:48in the
01:08:48yearly
01:08:48service,
01:08:49on the
01:08:49day of
01:08:49atonement,
01:08:50the
01:08:50sprinkling
01:08:51cleanses
01:08:52the
01:08:52transferred
01:08:53sins
01:08:53out of
01:08:54the
01:08:54sanctuary.
01:08:57And we're
01:08:57repeatedly told
01:08:58this in
01:08:59Leviticus
01:08:59chapter 16.
01:09:00So,
01:09:01I'll tell you,
01:09:02let no one
01:09:02say to you
01:09:03that the
01:09:03concept,
01:09:04cleansing
01:09:04the
01:09:04sanctuary,
01:09:05is not
01:09:05biblical.
01:09:06It
01:09:07definitely
01:09:07is.
01:09:10In fact,
01:09:11without it,
01:09:12we're all
01:09:12doomed.
01:09:14Think that
01:09:15one through.
01:09:19Leviticus 17
01:09:20verse 11
01:09:20says to
01:09:22us that
01:09:22the life
01:09:23is in
01:09:23the blood.
01:09:25And that's
01:09:25true,
01:09:26isn't it?
01:09:27I mean,
01:09:27physiology
01:09:28establishes
01:09:29that it's
01:09:30true.
01:09:31It is the
01:09:32flowing blood
01:09:33within your
01:09:34body,
01:09:34continually
01:09:35nourishing
01:09:35your cells,
01:09:36which keeps
01:09:36you alive.
01:09:41Leviticus 17
01:09:42and verse 11
01:09:42says,
01:09:43For the
01:09:43life of
01:09:44the flesh
01:09:44is in
01:09:45the blood,
01:09:46and I
01:09:46have given
01:09:47it to
01:09:47you upon
01:09:48the altar,
01:09:48he says,
01:09:49to make
01:09:50an atonement
01:09:50for your
01:09:51souls.
01:09:52For it
01:09:52is the
01:09:53blood that
01:09:53maketh an
01:09:54atonement
01:09:54for your
01:09:55soul.
01:09:58You see,
01:09:59sin is
01:09:59transferred to
01:10:00the animal,
01:10:02and through
01:10:02the blood
01:10:02sprinkling
01:10:03transferred to
01:10:04the sanctuary.
01:10:04And on
01:10:07the day
01:10:07of atonement,
01:10:08blood is
01:10:09taken into
01:10:09the sanctuary
01:10:10to cleanse
01:10:10it.
01:10:12It is
01:10:13the shedding
01:10:13of the
01:10:14blood that
01:10:14cleanses
01:10:15from sin.
01:10:17And a
01:10:17great deal
01:10:18is involved
01:10:18in the
01:10:19cleansing
01:10:19of the
01:10:19heavenly
01:10:20sanctuary.
01:10:22It's got
01:10:22to include
01:10:23the cleansing
01:10:23of the
01:10:24individual,
01:10:25the sole
01:10:25temple of
01:10:26all sin,
01:10:26by which
01:10:27means the
01:10:27church is
01:10:29cleansed and
01:10:30sanctified.
01:10:31and not
01:10:34until this
01:10:35is accomplished
01:10:35on earth
01:10:36in the
01:10:36court can
01:10:36the Lord
01:10:37blot out
01:10:37the sins
01:10:38of his
01:10:38people that
01:10:39are on
01:10:40record there
01:10:41in the
01:10:42sanctuary in
01:10:42heaven,
01:10:43the books,
01:10:44the book
01:10:45of life.
01:10:46What takes
01:10:47place in the
01:10:48sanctuary above
01:10:48depends on
01:10:49what takes
01:10:49place in the
01:10:50hearts of
01:10:50God's people
01:10:51in the
01:10:51church,
01:10:52the court
01:10:52on earth.
01:10:55And let
01:10:56me emphasize
01:10:56again
01:10:57an important
01:11:01part of the
01:11:03cleansing of
01:11:04the heavenly
01:11:04sanctuary is
01:11:05the cleansing
01:11:06of the
01:11:06court,
01:11:07which according
01:11:07to Revelation
01:11:0811 is the
01:11:09holy city
01:11:10or the
01:11:11church,
01:11:12which was
01:11:13trod under
01:11:13foot by the
01:11:14papacy for
01:11:1442 prophetic
01:11:15months,
01:11:161260 years.
01:11:17The court
01:11:18of the
01:11:18heavenly
01:11:19temple,
01:11:19which is
01:11:20the temple
01:11:21of God
01:11:21on earth,
01:11:22is cleansed
01:11:22first of all
01:11:23by a world
01:11:23message exposing
01:11:25the false
01:11:26mediatorial
01:11:27system of
01:11:28the papacy.
01:11:29How?
01:11:30By restoring
01:11:30the knowledge
01:11:31of the true
01:11:32sanctuary and
01:11:33its services
01:11:33and priesthood
01:11:35of Jesus
01:11:36Christ to
01:11:37God's people.
01:11:39This message
01:11:40goes to the
01:11:41world at the
01:11:41same time as
01:11:42the investigative
01:11:43judgment is
01:11:44in session in
01:11:44heaven after
01:11:461844 A.D.
01:11:48The court is
01:11:49to be cleansed
01:11:50also by a
01:11:51great revival
01:11:52and reformation
01:11:53in the
01:11:54church that
01:11:55cleanses the
01:11:56earthly habitation
01:11:57of God
01:11:58from all
01:11:59sin so
01:12:01that it is
01:12:02a glorious
01:12:03church as
01:12:03we're told,
01:12:04not having
01:12:05spot or
01:12:05wrinkle or
01:12:06any such
01:12:06thing,
01:12:07but that it
01:12:08is holy
01:12:09and without
01:12:09blemish.
01:12:12The church
01:12:13holy sanctified
01:12:13will be
01:12:14preserved
01:12:14blameless
01:12:15unto the
01:12:15coming of
01:12:16our Lord
01:12:16Jesus Christ.
01:12:18That's what
01:12:18the Bible
01:12:18tells us.
01:12:19Friends,
01:12:20are you
01:12:20starting to
01:12:20see the
01:12:21truth come
01:12:21together here
01:12:22in Daniel
01:12:228?
01:12:25Patrick
01:12:26Jones explains
01:12:27this in
01:12:27layman's
01:12:28terms.
01:12:30Let me
01:12:30share what
01:12:30he says
01:12:31about this.
01:12:32It's from
01:12:33his book
01:12:33Gems from
01:12:34Daniel,
01:12:34page 297.
01:12:37Brother
01:12:37Jones says,
01:12:38quote,
01:12:38The sanctuary
01:12:40system,
01:12:41earthly and
01:12:42heavenly,
01:12:42is God's
01:12:43means for
01:12:44planet Earth
01:12:44to be healthy
01:12:45in a world
01:12:46of sin.
01:12:47The planet
01:12:48in a fallen
01:12:49condition is a
01:12:50closed system,
01:12:51like an
01:12:51aquarium.
01:12:52It needs
01:12:53an exhaust
01:12:53pipe,
01:12:54a way to
01:12:54eliminate
01:12:55waste.
01:12:56The sanctuary
01:12:57system is the
01:12:57way for
01:12:58planet Earth
01:12:58to eliminate
01:12:59its poisonous
01:13:00waste products,
01:13:01sin.
01:13:02Sin is toxic
01:13:03to the
01:13:04environment of
01:13:05Earth.
01:13:05Sin affects
01:13:06nature so
01:13:06profoundly.
01:13:08Isaiah saw
01:13:08this clearly.
01:13:10Quote,
01:13:11The earth
01:13:11mourneth
01:13:12and fadeth
01:13:12away.
01:13:13The world
01:13:13languisheth
01:13:14and fadeth
01:13:14away.
01:13:15The haughty
01:13:16people of
01:13:16the earth
01:13:16do languish.
01:13:17Notice,
01:13:18the earth
01:13:18also is
01:13:19defiled under
01:13:20the inhabitants
01:13:21thereof,
01:13:22because they
01:13:22have transgressed
01:13:23the laws,
01:13:24changed the
01:13:25ordinance,
01:13:26broken the
01:13:26everlasting
01:13:27covenant.
01:13:28Therefore
01:13:29hath the
01:13:29curse devoured
01:13:30the earth,
01:13:31and they
01:13:31that dwell
01:13:32therein
01:13:33are desolate.
01:13:34Therefore
01:13:34the inhabitants
01:13:35of the earth
01:13:35are burned,
01:13:37and few
01:13:37men left.
01:13:38He's quoting
01:13:39Isaiah 24,
01:13:40verses 4-6.
01:13:43Jones goes
01:13:43on, he says,
01:13:44When organs
01:13:44of waste
01:13:45elimination are
01:13:46clogged up
01:13:46or removed,
01:13:47the body
01:13:48quickly becomes
01:13:49toxic with
01:13:50poisons and
01:13:50gets sick.
01:13:52Death will
01:13:52result quickly
01:13:53if there's no
01:13:53means of
01:13:54cleansing the
01:13:54body of
01:13:55the waste.
01:13:56The sins
01:13:56of earth
01:13:57have a way
01:13:57of escape.
01:13:58Through the
01:13:59blood of the
01:13:59Lamb that
01:14:02take away the
01:14:03sin of the
01:14:03world,
01:14:03they are
01:14:04brought to
01:14:04the heavenly
01:14:04sanctuary,
01:14:06which becomes
01:14:06the temporary
01:14:07nuclear waste
01:14:08dump for
01:14:09planet earth's
01:14:10sins.
01:14:11This was
01:14:12done to keep
01:14:12planet earth
01:14:13alive temporarily.
01:14:15Without the
01:14:16heavenly sanctuary,
01:14:17sin would have
01:14:17crushed the
01:14:18planet into
01:14:18non-existence.
01:14:20It would have
01:14:20self-destructed.
01:14:22Thank God for
01:14:23Jesus, our
01:14:24sin-bearer, to
01:14:25save us from
01:14:26our sins.
01:14:26Thank God for
01:14:27Jesus, our
01:14:28great high priest
01:14:29in the heavenly
01:14:29sanctuary,
01:14:30interceding
01:14:31continually in
01:14:32our behalf.
01:14:33Thank God for
01:14:34Jesus, our way
01:14:35of escape from
01:14:36this sin-polluted
01:14:37earth."
01:14:39End quote.
01:14:42Wonderful
01:14:42brother Jones.
01:14:45Now as I
01:14:46close,
01:14:47friends, it's
01:14:48important to
01:14:48remember that
01:14:49on the day of
01:14:49atonement, the
01:14:50morning and
01:14:50evening sacrifices
01:14:51continued.
01:14:53I mentioned it
01:14:54just a second
01:14:54ago.
01:14:55Just as Christ
01:14:56continues his
01:14:57intercessory ministry
01:14:59since 1844.
01:15:00Otherwise, nobody's
01:15:01sins would today be
01:15:02forgiven.
01:15:04However, since
01:15:051844, Christ, in
01:15:06addition to the
01:15:07ministry of
01:15:08intercession, is
01:15:09performing a
01:15:09ministry of
01:15:10cleansing.
01:15:11And we call
01:15:11that the
01:15:11pre-advent
01:15:12judgment.
01:15:13It means there's
01:15:14got to be a
01:15:14judgment before he
01:15:15returns.
01:15:15right?
01:15:21What are we to
01:15:21do after
01:15:26learning such
01:15:27an incredible
01:15:27truth, you
01:15:29know, such as
01:15:29this?
01:15:31Well, I'm going
01:15:31to end on this
01:15:32quote.
01:15:35It's from
01:15:35Manuscript
01:15:36Releases,
01:15:37Volume 11,
01:15:37page 83.
01:15:40And I want you
01:15:41to pay attention
01:15:41to it.
01:15:44Meditate upon
01:15:44it.
01:15:44Think about
01:15:45it.
01:15:46Quote,
01:15:48Godliness,
01:15:49sobriety,
01:15:50and consistency
01:15:51will characterize
01:15:52the life and
01:15:54example of every
01:15:55true Christian.
01:15:57The work which
01:15:58Christ is doing
01:15:59in the sanctuary
01:15:59above will
01:16:00engage the
01:16:01thoughts and
01:16:02be the burden
01:16:03of the
01:16:04conversation because
01:16:05by faith he
01:16:06has entered
01:16:06into the
01:16:07sanctuary.
01:16:08He is on
01:16:09earth, but
01:16:10his sympathies
01:16:11are in harmony
01:16:11with the work
01:16:12that Christ is
01:16:13doing in
01:16:13heaven.
01:16:13Christ is
01:16:15cleansing the
01:16:16heavenly sanctuary
01:16:16from the sins
01:16:17of the people
01:16:18and it is the
01:16:19work of all
01:16:20who are laborers
01:16:22together with
01:16:22God to be
01:16:23cleansing the
01:16:24sanctuary of the
01:16:25soul from
01:16:26everything that
01:16:27is offensive
01:16:27to him.
01:16:30everything, like
01:16:33evil surmising,
01:16:34envy,
01:16:35jealousy,
01:16:36enmity, and
01:16:36hatred will be
01:16:37put away.
01:16:39For such things
01:16:40grieve the Holy
01:16:41Spirit of God
01:16:41and put Christ to
01:16:43an open shame.
01:16:45Love of self will
01:16:46not exist, nor will
01:16:48any engaged in this
01:16:49work be puffed up.
01:16:50the example of
01:16:53Christ's life, the
01:16:55consistency of his
01:16:56character, will make
01:16:58his influence far
01:17:00reaching.
01:17:02He will be a
01:17:03living epistle
01:17:04known and read
01:17:07of all men.
01:17:09End quote.
01:17:11Friends, let us
01:17:13always endeavor to
01:17:16be that living
01:17:17epistle that
01:17:18reflects the
01:17:18character of
01:17:20Jesus.
01:17:20Let's bow our
01:17:21heads.
01:17:21Father in
01:17:21heaven, we
01:17:22are so thankful
01:17:22for this Holy
01:17:24Sabbath day.
01:17:25We are so
01:17:25thankful that
01:17:26you explain to
01:17:28us, if we
01:17:29are willing,
01:17:31these truths
01:17:32that you
01:17:32protected through
01:17:33ages, found
01:17:36in your Holy
01:17:36Word, and
01:17:38protected for us
01:17:39who live here
01:17:40in the time of
01:17:40the end.
01:17:42Father, I
01:17:43thank you so
01:17:44much for Jesus
01:17:45that you made
01:17:46a way.
01:17:48You made a
01:17:49way.
01:17:50to cleanse
01:17:50us of our
01:17:52sins.
01:17:53Not only did
01:17:54Jesus shed
01:17:54his blood, he
01:17:55lived a
01:17:55righteous life.
01:17:56He is our
01:17:56example in
01:17:57all things.
01:17:59And I ask
01:18:00that you give
01:18:00each and
01:18:01every one a
01:18:03double portion
01:18:03of the Spirit
01:18:04that we may
01:18:07reflect his
01:18:08character perfectly
01:18:08to a world
01:18:09that is dying
01:18:10in sin, that
01:18:11we may share
01:18:14this truth to
01:18:17the world and
01:18:18that they may
01:18:18see that
01:18:20Jesus is not
01:18:21a God of
01:18:23the dead, but
01:18:23a God of
01:18:24the living.
01:18:25I will ask
01:18:26these favors in
01:18:26the blessed
01:18:27name of Jesus
01:18:28who is so
01:18:28worthy.
01:18:29Amen and
01:18:30amen.
01:18:32I want to thank
01:18:33you for joining
01:18:33me this time.
01:18:35Friends, I
01:18:36encourage you,
01:18:37study these
01:18:38things out.
01:18:39Go to
01:18:39Daniel.
01:18:40Go to
01:18:41Leviticus 16.
01:18:43Dig into the
01:18:44sanctuary.
01:18:45Start by just
01:18:45reading it.
01:18:47Read through
01:18:47Leviticus.
01:18:49You know, it
01:18:50can get dry
01:18:50sometimes, but
01:18:51it's in the
01:18:53Bible for a
01:18:53purpose, and
01:18:54that purpose is
01:18:55for us to know
01:18:56and understand.
01:18:57So I
01:18:58encourage you to
01:18:58do that.
01:19:00And check
01:19:02me out.
01:19:03Brother Brooks
01:19:04always would say
01:19:05that.
01:19:06Check me out if
01:19:07these things
01:19:08aren't so.
01:19:09Get into your
01:19:10Bible, dig
01:19:11through it as
01:19:12for hidden
01:19:12treasure, and
01:19:15have a love
01:19:16for the truth.
01:19:17Pray for it.
01:19:18Pray that you
01:19:19will have that
01:19:19love for the
01:19:20truth.
01:19:21We know that
01:19:22as your love
01:19:24for Jesus
01:19:24continues to
01:19:25grow,
01:19:26so will your
01:19:26love for the
01:19:27truth, because
01:19:27Jesus is the
01:19:28truth.
01:19:28He's the
01:19:28life, the
01:19:29way.
01:19:30Keep looking
01:19:30up.
01:19:31I hope you
01:19:31join us next
01:19:32time we're
01:19:32together.
01:19:33Never doubt
01:19:33the love of
01:19:35God.
01:19:35Never doubt
01:19:36that Jesus
01:19:37loves you.
01:19:38Don't even
01:19:38let it enter
01:19:38your mind.
01:19:39Never doubt
01:19:40it.
01:19:41Keep looking
01:19:41up.
01:19:41We'll see you
01:19:42next time.
01:19:42God bless each
01:19:43and every one
