00:00The grey, gloomy weather's going to continue for a little while yet.
00:04It's largely dry, but a lot of cloud around for many of us,
00:08because high pressure sticking around for the time being,
00:11and under that high, there's a lot of that cloud trapped.
00:14However, the high is drifting away towards the east,
00:16with lower pressure out towards the west.
00:19That's going to push in as we go through later this weekend.
00:22More on that in a second.
00:23Back to the here and now, though.
00:24As we go through the rest of Thursday and overnight into Friday,
00:27sticking with the cloudy skies for many,
00:30there will be some clear breaks across some central southern parts of Scotland,
00:33maybe northeast England,
00:34and a few clear breaks around some eastern, southeastern parts of England,
00:38and perhaps west Wales as well.
00:40And where we do get those clear breaks,
00:42temperatures may take a bit of a drop,
00:43could get close to freezing in a few spots,
00:46and also watch out for a few patches of mist and fog,
00:48particularly over some parts of Wales.
00:50Most places, though, under that blanket of cloud,
00:53temperatures holding up high single figures or double digits,
00:56so not an especially chilly night to come.
00:58And it is going to be cloudy, yes, but largely dry,
01:01the exception just being a few spots of rain
01:03across some parts of northern and eastern Scotland,
01:05and around some eastern, southeastern coasts of England,
01:08and perhaps across some parts of the southwest.
01:10And then tomorrow through Friday,
01:12it's looking relatively similar to Thursday, really, for many places.
01:16Yes, there will be some brightness around the borders area,
01:20some parts of northern England, maybe,
01:21and perhaps towards Cornwall, maybe even into Devon.
01:24Whilst there will be a few spots of rain around,
01:26there could also be some breaks in the clouds,
01:28so some sunshine breaking through,
01:30but most places, again, having a largely great day.
01:34And where you're stuck under that cloud,
01:36there will be a bit of a chill to things,
01:38even though temperatures are around average for the time of year.
01:41The contrast, if you get any sunshine breaking through,
01:43well, it will feel that little bit warmer,
01:45because the winds are pretty light.
01:47Then, as we go through later on Friday,
01:51sticking with the largely cloudy theme,
01:53some breaks developing here and there.
01:55Western parts of Scotland may be seeing some clearer skies,
01:59and that clearer slot pushing its way northwards
02:01as we go through the day.
02:03Otherwise, again, quite grey, quite cloudy.
02:06A few spots of rain here and there
02:07towards north-sea coastal parts could be a bit damp,
02:10and a few other outbreaks of rain
02:12across parts of southwest England,
02:13maybe into south Wales,
02:14but most places staying dry,
02:17but sticking with this rather gloomy feel to things.
02:20And again, where you get that blanket of cloud,
02:22temperatures not dropping a huge amount,
02:24high single figures, low double digits,
02:25for many of us on Saturday morning.
02:28Through Saturday itself,
02:29starting off on a similar note to Thursday and Friday,
02:32so lots of cloud around,
02:34limited bright or sunny spells.
02:35There probably will be a bit of sunshine breaking through,
02:38and a few spots of rain here and there,
02:40but it's later on
02:41when we start to see things turning wetter and windier,
02:44initially across Northern Ireland
02:45as we go through the afternoon,
02:47but that wetter, more unsettled weather
02:49is going to feed its way eastwards.
02:50Ahead of it, temperatures similar to Friday, really,
02:54so mid-teens, perhaps, again,
02:55if you catch any sunshine,
02:57feeling that little bit warmer,
02:58if you're stuck under the cloud,
02:59feeling a bit cooler,
03:00especially as the winds are going to be strengthening
03:02from the west.
03:04But then, as we go through later Saturday
03:07and into Sunday,
03:08low pressure from the west
03:09pushes its way eastwards,
03:10with frontal systems coming across,
03:12bringing some, at times, quite heavy rain
03:15and also blustery winds.
03:16That does then clear through
03:17to more of a showery theme on Monday,
03:19but if you want to know more information
03:21about what we can expect this weekend,
03:23well, check out our weekend forecast,
03:24which Alex Deacon will be bringing to you.
03:26Bye-bye.
