00:00We'll start in Tallahassee, Coach, with the upset of the day in the conference.
00:05Pittsburgh upsets Florida State.
00:07They hand the Seminoles their third straight loss, third straight conference loss since the Week 5 loss in Charlottesville.
00:15Pitt was a 10.5-point underdog.
00:17They stepped up and win it outright, 34-31.
00:21Amazing effort by Pat Narduzzi and the Pitt Panthers.
00:25Well, he's gone with a true freshman quarterback, and for the second weekend in a row, he's thrown for over 300 yards.
00:33You know, the story seems to be what's wrong with Florida State, but it might be what's right with Pittsburgh.
00:40They found him a true freshman quarterback playing very well, but I'm pretty sure now that at Florida State,
00:46the anomaly was the first win, not the upset losses now, because now we're seeing an FSU team that doesn't seem to be able to stop anybody
00:56and get them off the field with their defense.
01:00And we'll see.
01:01Entering that matchup, Florida State was still averaging well over 4.5 yards per carry.
01:06Pitt entered that matchup only allowing 74 rushing yards per game.
01:10That was a dominant offensive effort, though, by the Pitt Panthers, to coach's point, back-to-back efforts over Boston College
01:18and then on the road in Tallahassee.
01:20Even though Florida State did tie the game up in the second quarter, Mason Heinsteichel stepped up.
01:26Coach, he got the first win over Florida State since dating back to Dan Marino in 1981,
01:33a significant win, a significant victory,
01:36but more importantly, a player that we have to keep an eye out for the next few weeks.
01:42You know, I feel like, you know, Eli Holstein, we said that last year after about seven games,
01:46but this kid seems to be the real deal.
01:48And by the way, I was on that Florida State staff when we played that of Pittsburgh in 1981.
01:55And that quarter, Marino was a pretty dag-up good college quarterback.
01:58But, you know, he has done well.
02:00And I'm just fascinated how many head coaches hit the panic button
02:05or at least cry to their media and to their fans when they lose a quarterback,
02:10and Narducci just steps up, give me another one, put him in, let's go with it,
02:14and then puts confidence in him.
02:17And when the quarterback makes a mistake, keep right on going, work through an interception,
02:21work through a mistake.
02:22And now Pitt's in a chance to be one of those teams that might slide up there.
02:28And I want to say have that, be that team that might have a chance to play against Miami
02:32in the championship game.
02:34And when you see Pittsburgh, you know, putting up offensive numbers,
02:38we know that for years they were known as a defensive-minded team.
02:41Now we see Florida State on the flip side, coach.
02:44All of a sudden, in three straight weeks, that defense seems to have fallen apart.
02:49Offense isn't as consistent.
02:50The rushing attack isn't as dominant.
02:53They're losing the turnover battle.
02:55How does this affect the team moving forward as it relates to the defensive side of the ball
03:00in weeks number eight through potentially week number 13?
03:05Yeah, I think we mentioned like TC, Tommy College of Standards,
03:09only got 12 yards of offense.
03:12That was a problem there.
03:13But I think the big problem at Florida State now is motivation.
03:17Can we keep our kids' heads in the game?
03:19Can we not lose the team?
03:21Remember last year, after not having the quarterback situation work out,
03:26Mike Norvell pretty much lost the entire team.
03:29Nobody played well.
03:30The entire team collapsed, and the season collapsed.
03:33Now he's got to win three out of the last six to get to a bowl game
03:38and salvage the season at this point.
03:41And it's hard to find three wins there the way Florida State is playing.
