00:00Well, let's talk about the battle in Tallahassee.
00:02Florida State, fresh off the loss against Virginia.
00:05They entered that matchup at home as home underdogs catching about three and a half points to the Miami Hurricanes.
00:12Miami was undefeated, but they took the game early and often.
00:15The physicality for the offense and defense alliance for Miami really shone through.
00:21And to your point, they built the first half lead, never looked back.
00:24They win it and cover on the road.
00:26That was a dominant road effort by Mario Cristobal.
00:30And the Hurricanes on Saturday night.
00:32Absolutely.
00:33I mean, after the first drive for a field goal that Florida State had, then it was seven straight drives of four punts and three turnovers and a 28 to three lead by Miami going into the fourth quarter.
00:45Really.
00:46And then they kind of took their foot off the pedal and they lost their mo and they couldn't get it back.
00:52And Florida State made it look good.
00:53But I don't think I don't think we thought that Florida State was going to come back.
00:57But two things I thought might happen to Florida State.
01:00One, give another team a week off or time to study the offense.
01:05And they were ready for every trick play, every misdirection.
01:08They had the quarterback covered.
01:10He might make a good run, but not a great run.
01:12He may have an opening, but they were so athletic they closed on it.
01:16So they did a great job of scheming the system that they have at Florida State, which has been the book on get Gus Malzahn at other schools.
01:25Give people time to defense it.
01:26They'll get better.
01:27But you know what?
01:28But it also was the turnovers by T.C., by Tommy Catalanus.
01:32He had two big ones that led to 14 points.
01:36And if he plays his great game, I'm not sure Miami does beat Florida State.
01:39So on one hand, I think they dominated.
01:42But if T.C. goes out there and doesn't turn the ball over, he still has the ability to give them a chance to win because the way he brought them back.
01:52But really, his turnovers, along with the fact that Miami, with their talent and the quarterback play at Miami, it's so steady.
01:59I mean, Carson Beck is such a steady quarterback, so poised, so experienced, so battle-tested that they couldn't come back.
02:07So really, you look at the preparation they had for the Florida State offense, the turnovers that the quarterback had that cost them 14 points, it turned into 14 points, that ended up being the difference in the game.
02:18You mentioned Carson Beck.
02:20He completes 20 of 27 passes, 241 yards, four touchdowns, no interceptions, a dominant road performance.
02:29We had talked prior to that about his previous road performances.
02:33He struggled with the Georgia Bulldogs in 2024.
02:36That was not the issue on Saturday night.
02:38He hit his wide receivers, put his team in a position to score points, and that's exactly what he did and Miami did in winning that matchup by six points.
02:48The other factor, too, coach, is that that front seven entered that ballgame, holding opposing offenses to right around three and a half yards per carry.
02:56They duplicated that effort on Saturday night in Tallahassee.
02:59That was a Florida State offense that entered that ballgame, averaging 336 rushing yards per game.
03:07Florida State only rushed for a buck 35 on the ground, only three and a half yards per carry.
03:12To me, that was the other difference about why Miami was able to pull it out on Saturday night.
03:16Yeah, and Miami was much better than just that because you look at the game.
03:22For three quarters, Florida State had 200 yards of offense.
03:25They doubled that in one quarter.
03:27Once Miami took the foot off the pedal off the pedal, Florida State threw 203 yards in the fourth quarter.
03:34I think Miami had 18.
03:35Sometimes you've got to be careful not to let that momentum get away from you.
03:39But that was a case to me, again, of Miami just being – they were so talented that when they had to recover and chase down Tommy Castellanos, they had to cover a reverse or a misdirection.
03:52They had a great game plan.
03:53They studied tendencies.
03:55They studied play selection.
03:56And that showed you why they have so much going for them.
03:59And I want to say this about Carson Beckett at Georgia.
04:03They took away from him, too.
04:06They didn't run the ball well enough.
04:07They took away from his surrounding cast and the way they played around him last year.
04:12And I think he took a lot of the blame, as quarterbacks, too.
04:16Too much credit, too much blame for a lot of things they didn't do right at Georgia last year.
