00:00Well, it was a chilly morning this morning up north.

00:02Meanwhile, southern Minnesota, we're seeing rain today.

00:04It's just the first of a few chances of rain.

00:06We have more on the way later this week.

00:18Frosty up north this morning.

00:20Temperatures were in the 20s, 23 in International Falls.

00:23Embarrassed was 26 degrees.

00:25Sky's there, clear all night.

00:27Substantially warmer in the 40s here in southern Minnesota.

00:29Of course, we saw the clouds roll in.

00:31And now some rain, too, despite that high pressure to the north,

00:34keeping things cooler, drier.

00:36And it was clearer earlier, but a swath of showers has developed.

00:40This is mostly because of low-level jet stream.

00:42Those winds about 4,000 feet above the ground,

00:44transporting warmth and moisture aloft, producing that large area of showers.

00:49Kind of the first piece of energy off of this main upper-level low that's to the west.

00:53We've got this system on the Pacific coast that's eventually going to get here by Thursday and Friday.

00:57But in the meantime, we've got this first sampler.

01:00Shower is pretty steady, I think, for much of the afternoon and evening hours.

01:04Tapering off after midnight.

01:06Could have a couple of lingering spotty showers in the morning tomorrow,

01:09especially across far southern Minnesota.

01:11And I do think we stay pretty cloudy here tomorrow.

01:13I don't think we're going to clear out.

01:14Temperatures mostly in the 50s today.

01:16Rain-cool temperatures, 40s across parts of northwestern Minnesota.

01:21And, yeah, that's actually close to normal.

01:23So, this is that first swath of moisture.

01:26Again, this is kind of a spoke of energy that's come off this main upper-level low,

01:30part of this big trough in the west.

01:32This will get here Thursday into Friday,

01:35but may not produce as much rainfall as this system out ahead of it.

01:39So, by Thursday night, we start to see the showers moving,

01:41but the center of the low is going to travel kind of to our northwest and north.

01:45So, that means that the bulk of the steady moisture

01:48probably is going to stay to our north and east, too.

01:50But it will draw in some warmer air here.

01:52We're talking 70s, Thursday, Friday, despite not seeing a whole lot of sunshine.

01:56It's going to be fairly warm.

01:57But you can see those showers.

01:58While we do see some of these move through occasionally,

02:02the bulk of the rain is going to stay pretty close to that low center

02:05across the Dakotas and then eventually into Manitoba

02:07and right along the Minnesota-Manitoba-Ontario border

02:12with, again, some more showers and thunderstorms popping up again late Friday.

02:15So, we will see some rain,

02:16but that bulk of that moisture may stay to the north.

02:19We kind of get dry slotted here with some warmer, drier air moving.

02:22And the green is the areas of more intense moisture here,

02:26precipitable water content, we call that.

02:28So, don't look for a ton of rain out of that Thursday-Friday system.

02:32To our east, to our north, kind of all around us,

02:35but in the middle here, probably lesser amounts as far as rainfall goes.

02:39This is the European model.

02:40But really, when we look at all three American or Canadian-American-European models,

02:45most of the heavier rainfall stays to our north,

02:47where they actually do need it the most.

02:49Much of northern Minnesota in a drought.

02:52Southern Minnesota, not quite as much here.

02:5452 today.

02:55Scattered showers, kind of on and off through the afternoon, evening,

02:58and the first half of the overnight.

03:00I think tomorrow will be mostly dry.

03:02Again, can't rule out a sprinkle or two in the morning.

03:04And it will be pretty cloudy.

03:0657 is actually pretty close to the normal, though.

03:0870 on Thursday.

03:10Some spotty showers, some thunder even possible, both Thursday and Friday.

03:14But those showers and thunderstorms will be fairly spotty.

03:18Meanwhile, just warm.

03:20That system exits for the weekend.
