00:00Well, as forecast, it was a wet and stormy weekend.
00:02We break down what happened and take a look at a much quieter week ahead,
00:05which includes some fall-like air by the weekend.
00:18So storms were pretty severe here Friday night across the southwestern part of the state.
00:23This prompted several warnings.
00:25Luckily, those storms kind of fizzled before they reached the Twin Cities in terms of severity,
00:28but a 79-mile-an-hour wind gust picked up in that cluster of storms.
00:32Several gusts in that 60 to 79-mile-per-hour range.
00:35So damaging winds.
00:37And, of course, the bigger story, really, tons of rain here across central and southern Minnesota.
00:42What's in yellow is at least 2 to 3 inches of rain.
00:45Now, many areas saw more than that.
00:47When we break it down, these red dots, those are all between 4 to 8 inches of multi-day rainfall total
00:52Friday through Monday, midday here.
00:55So just an incredible amount of water.
00:57Highest amounts approaching 10 inches.
01:009.48 inches picked up a mile west-southwest of Waseca.
01:05And that's probably valid because when we look at radar estimates,
01:08there is a bullseye just right around the Waseca area of up to potentially a foot.
01:13So if we could put a rain gauge perfectly where the radar thought that happened,
01:16maybe we would measure a foot.
01:18But 9.5 inches is awfully close.
01:20And this comes just a week after Milwaukee had 11 inches of rain.
01:24These are not normal Midwest rainfall totals.
01:26This is what you expect in a tropical storm system.
01:29And a reminder that those extreme rainfalls are definitely increasing here as we change our climate.
01:34Clouds on the decrease the rest of the day today.
01:35It's still going to be warm and muggy for the next few days.
01:38So still above normal.
01:40Just not as steamy as it was late last week.
01:42Probably low to mid-80s tomorrow, Wednesday, Thursday.
01:44Dew points are still going to be pretty muggy too.
01:46Upper 60s to near 70 degree dew points here across southern Minnesota.
01:49Similar scenario tomorrow, Wednesday.
01:51Those dew points improve a little bit, probably mid-60s.
01:54But that's still a little sticky, certainly.
01:56It's still a little uncomfortable if you don't like the humidity at all.
02:00But don't worry.
02:01Some cooler, drier air is coming.
02:03Temperatures remain above normal here the next few days.
02:05Normal high now is about 81.
02:06So we're going to be a few degrees above that tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday.
02:10But a blast of cool air.
02:11It's going to feel almost like September come the weekend.
02:14Saturday and Sunday, we're talking about below normal temperatures and much drier air.
02:18By Saturday night, look at these lows.
02:2050s in the Twin Cities, but a lot of 40s across northern, western, even parts of southern Minnesota, western Wisconsin.
02:26High temperatures Sunday, struggling to reach 70.
02:29Even in the Twin Cities, 60s across northern and western Minnesota.
02:33So, yeah, it's more like the second half of September kind of temperatures.
02:37And those dew points, of course, are going to drop further too.
02:39Still muggy, as I mentioned, here for southern Minnesota through Thursday.
02:43But Saturday, Sunday, dew points in the 40s to low 50s.
02:45That's some very dry, comfortable air.
02:48A cool front that's going to bring that weather will bring some showers and thunderstorms.
02:52It looks like mostly just Thursday night.
02:53Thursday evening, northwestern Minnesota, and then probably the early morning hours Friday for those of us in southern Minnesota.
02:58But the front should largely clear us Friday morning, allowing for a pretty nice afternoon.
03:03So still above normal temperatures, as I mentioned, the next few days.
03:06The sun is back with a vengeance here tomorrow, Wednesday, Thursday.
03:09So a nice dry break overall.
03:12But still, as I mentioned, pretty warm and muggy the next few days.
03:15But Friday, we'll see those dew points drop.
03:17Still close to 80 for a high.
03:19Sunshine for the afternoon.
03:20And then a beautiful weekend.
03:21Just it's going to feel a little cool here, especially in the mornings, Saturday and Sunday,
03:25with those temperatures more typical for mid to late September come Saturday and Sunday.
