00:00over the last five weeks nine amateur fashion designers have been competing for the biggest
00:19career opportunity of their lives the chance to work alongside Britain's most loved fashion
00:26retailer Marks and Spencer they gave everything they had to impress the experts no one else is having
00:33that that's our in everything that's the look don't even complicate it that's only the best of the best
00:44survived so the designer leaving the competition is Shelley there's gonna be me Julia Daniel
00:56Joseph sorry Joseph Laura Alex okay
01:09tonight it's the final and the pressure has never been stronger that excited for that yeah I reckon
01:19this will win in office they'll be put under scrutiny by the experts why should that one person be you
01:23um because I want people to and their designs under the spotlight of the dress the nation collection
01:31showcase so impressive the amount you've achieved I would be straight down at Marks and Spencer's and
01:36buying one immediately only one will win this life-changing prize a chance to dress the nation
01:43the winner of dress the nation is welcome welcome welcome here we go well I tell you what crack open
01:57the Percy pigs because you are officially dress the nation finally yeah I'm really proud that I've
02:06made it this far in the competition it's crazy to think that after this challenge I could be the winner just
02:12one challenge stands between you and your chance to kick-start your design career with that dream
02:18mentorship at M&S what a feeling I know it's not gonna be an easy one I'm here to take the win your
02:25winning design will be sold online and in stores across the nation it really is the prize that money
02:32cannot buy the mentorship is within arm's reach I just still can't believe it's me here but first if
02:40you want to get your foot in the door you're gonna need to impress the people with the keys
02:44it's our M&S experts please welcome head of women's wear design Lisa Illis and of course director of
02:52menswear Mitch Hughes thank you and helping Lisa and Mitch make this very important decision are our
03:01special guests founder and creative director of luxury fashion brand at 16 Arlington Marco Cavaldo
03:08hi guys from model to racing car driver to entrepreneur she's always been ahead of the
03:18curve it's Geordie kids and not only is he the most a successful male a supermodel of all time
03:32but he's also designed for M&S is David Gandhi well first before we start we've got one more very
03:43special guest that we'd like to introduce to you it's someone who was literally walked in your shoes
03:48let's welcome last year's winner dress the nation David everyone let us know how much winning dress
03:57the nation last year has changed your life oh it's been amazing I've learned so much learning how a big
04:02corporation works is amazing I've been soaking up all the information just trying to keep it down do
04:06you have any advice that could maybe help our designers today you've been chosen for a reason yeah you've
04:13been chosen for a reason could you guys do some amazing work that's why you're here so just have
04:17fun with your designs yeah good luck guys thank you for your time today okay designers it's time to
04:27reveal your final design challenge Geordie will you do the honors I will indeed so your challenge is to
04:36design two show-stopping party wear outfits I'm talking about out out I'm talking about a big entrance
04:47your finished collections will be modeled on the catwalk in our dress the nation runwear show exciting
04:54stuff designers you've got eight hours to create your party wear collections and your time starts now
05:04the designers have just eight hours to create two party wear looks for men or women before they'll be
05:15fitting their party wear to real-life models for the very first time I can never get into these it's the
05:23final eight hours two outfits it's a big big ask for our designers they need to have pulled out all stops
05:30they need to have really thought through their design how to make it how to fit it
05:34beautifully how to really answer the brief so it's going to be really interesting to see
05:38don't know if I can carry all this and it's the first time that their looks will be showcased on
05:45real-life models as opposed to mannequins how do you think that that's going to change the dynamics
05:50could go one way or exactly you could look amazing when you're sewing it and then suddenly you get it
05:55actually movement and then everything kind of like pulls apart it's also really magical and I think it's
06:02important that it's their first time and it's like that first time only comes once and I hope that
06:07they're really present and enjoy that moment it's got a little something to it so David what do you
06:15look for in party wear I like structure suits traditional tailoring but you know times are moving
06:20on and there's going to be a contemporary feel to that so it'll be interesting to see how that is interpreted
06:25by it by the designs a lot to do no time to do it oh my god it's getting real Marco one thing that we have
06:34talked about consistently through this series is commerciality how difficult is that as a designer that is
06:40the ultimate challenge is to tread that fine line between art and commerce and I think it's very important that we can see who they are as a designer whilst they're also working
06:49to a brief for M&S so I think if you can achieve both you've ticked the box
06:56so fast today very very fast it's a combination of an old Regency fashion from like the 1800 1700s mixed with some of the
07:07draping from Ghana so I'm trying to soften evening wear drawing on historical references from his combined British and African heritage
07:15Rich is sticking to his tailoring strengths with his and hers party wear an elevated charcoal grey
07:22check men's suit for the unique waistcoat scarf hybrid and a women's burgundy cocktail suit dress with contemporary cold shoulder design and tuxedo inspired lapel
07:33Richie congratulations on getting into the final thank you you're the only person actually in the final who's doing a men's and a women's
07:39yes outfit why have you chosen that combo playing to my strength I know I'm good at menswear and I've developed over time to get my
07:46women's wear more on point I've taken some of the feedback in the earlier challenges that didn't work out well yeah implementing them here
07:52pressure man
07:54for menswear Taylor Richie the competition has been far from plain sailing I've shown throughout the competition that I can be very resilient I knew I would make it through but as the
08:06challenges progressed wasn't as easy as I thought
08:09and his lack of women's wear experience proved difficult in the early weeks
08:13I've never designed or made dresses before I'm used to menswear
08:16femininity that for me is what's lacking
08:19right but he was always keen to learn from his mistakes
08:23I need to understand more about the woman
08:25with a little help from regular teammate Casey
08:28love that love that make it more dramatic
08:31more dramatic in it
08:32like real proper cinch it in
08:34to make the women's wear more feminine I've learned a lot about shape and a lot about the cut
08:38Richie's flying today look
08:40but then menswear week allowed him to shine
08:43second place is Richie
08:46well done Richie
08:47and his eye for style
08:49he's a very creative designer
08:51and skilled tailoring
08:52definitely you can see it in our stores
08:54always shone through
08:56the opportunity to get the mentorship is it's life-changing
09:00I've learned that I can do anything honestly
09:02you know if I put my mind to it
09:04throw any challenge my way
09:06onto the dress
09:08yeah gonna fuse it
09:09dart it
09:10finish it
09:11that's it
09:13so Richie
09:15he's obviously very gifted
09:16yeah
09:17I think with his tailoring background
09:18yeah
09:19what I would say is that
09:20if you look at all his outfits across many weeks
09:21are quite similar
09:22but this is for M&S
09:24so therefore I would challenge him in terms of
09:27thinking outside of that
09:28that's a real consideration
09:30ooh
09:32got a nice little shine to it
09:34two hours gone
09:35you've got six hours to go
09:38ooh
09:39two down six to go
09:40six to go
09:42let me hear you
09:43six to go
09:44six to go
09:45oh dearie dearie me
09:47bro two hours has gone like that man
09:49come on are you gonna heat up
09:52ooh
09:53very nice
09:56I'm going back to my Scottish roots again for a bit of inspiration
10:00so
10:01Hug Money is one of the biggest celebrations up in Scotland
10:04it's bigger than Christmas
10:05everyone goes wild on New Year
10:07this is who I'm designing for
10:08it's like the people who are just celebrating and having fun
10:10hi Casey
10:11hello
10:12hi
10:13how are you doing
10:14I'm good how are you
10:15yeah good thank you
10:16Casey party wear week
10:17talk us through your final collection
10:18I'm actually doing two women's looks
10:20okay
10:21erm so I'm doing this gold mini dress
10:24and then also the suit
10:26I've decided to make black
10:28okay
10:29I just realised that black would probably be more wearable
10:31a silver suit they probably would
10:33would only bring out like once a year if they were to buy it
10:37Casey's designed a flowing gold party dress
10:40as well as a women's black suit with a corset and layered lace skirt
10:45but is this bold wet look layered outfit too haven't got for M&S
10:50and has she bitten off more than she can saw
10:53you have got an ambitious collection coming together here
10:58yeah again
10:59do you think you're gonna manage it all?
11:01I hope so yeah I'm gonna try my best to finish everything properly
11:05erm
11:06some people work best under pressure though
11:08yeah I think I've produced my best work under pressure
11:10so I think that's why I keep putting the pressure on myself
11:14just thought go big or go home
11:16for the youngest designer 22 year old retail worker Casey
11:20the competition has been a much needed opportunity
11:23I'm kind of chuffed with that
11:26it's really special to be here because I feel like I've had a chance to prove myself
11:31why did I decide to make it so complicated?
11:35there's just not many opportunities where I'm from
11:38I've applied to hundreds and hundreds of jobs
11:41and I've never really heard anything back
11:43but a lack of confidence
11:45I'm just disappointed in myself
11:47accompanied by her ambitious designs
11:50I've really tried to do too much in the time
11:52and it just isn't paying off
11:54often left her struggling with time
11:57it was an ambitious kind of design at the outset
12:00to do in four weeks I would have known four hours
12:03it will be a massive shame if time is what messes this up for you
12:07but her bold and complex looks
12:10shock I'm going for leopard print again
12:12it just seems to be like the boldest choice
12:15still secured her praise from the judges
12:17stunning garment really well done
12:19I'm really happy that I stuck to my guns and went for these bold designs
12:23I think you need to be yourself and trust your gut instinct
12:26and teaming up with Richie finally helps her to get the job done
12:30it's definitely the quickest I've finished so far in the competition
12:33securing them both a place in the final
12:36team heading into next week's final is Team Richie
12:42oh my god
12:44dead excited for this
12:46are you dead excited for yours
12:47yeah I'm just worried I'm not going to have time
12:49so Casey she's thrown everything at it
12:52and she's really kind of gone for it
12:54which is great for Casey
12:56my only watch out would be the corset
12:59the drapes lace
13:00there's a lot in there
13:01there's a lot of different fabrics
13:02there's a lot in there
13:03she has a very ambitious approach to
13:05why do one when I can do three garments
13:08it might be one element too many
13:11I think I'm doing too much
13:13what have you got?
13:14this black suit that I'm currently cutting
13:16go on
13:17I've got a dress
13:20I've got a corset to go either over the dress or under the suit
13:24and then I've got a lace skirt
13:26so probably a little bit too much
13:29cut
13:36reset cameras
13:37where none
13:38sir and k
13:39please return the mannequin to props
13:45I... yeah
13:46I'm on an M&S shoot
13:47alright
13:48see you in a bit
13:48sorry
13:49pass
13:50welcome back to dress the nation
13:59with a coveted design mentorship at M&S up for grabs
14:02the designers are part way through their final challenge
14:05and with it their last chance to impress the experts
14:08this is cowl neck
14:10black dress
14:11but I'm a bit worried for this one
14:12because there's not as much stretch in it as I would have liked
14:15oh Bailey congratulations
14:16thank you
14:17I would imagine you're so happy and chuffed to be in the final
14:20absolutely yeah
14:21proper bit of me in this
14:22so yeah I'm excited
14:24sticking to his signature monochrome style
14:27Bailey's making two coordinated party wear looks
14:30a backless pale silver maxi dress
14:33and a draped black mini dress
14:35both with contrast ruffles
14:37but will his duo of dresses have the wow factor
14:41that experts expect for the final
14:44what's your kind of inspiration for these
14:47I imagine like a mother and daughter
14:50in these in these two dresses
14:51maybe like the mum in the long one
14:53daughter in the short one
14:54swap it over
14:56whatever you want to do
14:57I love how that you've used mother daughter
14:59because you know when I go to Marks and Spencer's
15:02I go with my mum
15:03yeah
15:04and we often come out with the same pieces
15:05so it's lovely actually that it's going to be quite ageless
15:08what would it mean to you Bailey if you were to win dress the nation
15:11dress the nation
15:12I think I've already won in my eyes
15:13and if I got the first that would just be a bonus
15:15it's a good attitude
15:17that could just be fine by itself couldn't it
15:21there have been ups and downs for 23 year old
15:24former supermarket worker Bailey
15:26I've made it to the final
15:28super proud of myself
15:29got it
15:30I didn't think through the weeks that I would
15:32because the competition has been very stiff
15:34favouring a monochrome palette
15:36I would say it's a safe bet
15:39he got off to a rocky start
15:42moment of truth
15:43perhaps not so much flair as I would like to have seen
15:47all I can do is put my best design forward and try my best
15:53despite being more comfortable with women's wear
15:56I love designing for the girlies
15:58he surprised everyone
16:00I absolutely love it
16:01by excelling in menswear
16:03the winner of this week's statement piece challenge is
16:08Bailey
16:09yay
16:10which was just the beginning of his winning streak
16:13Bailey
16:14come forward Bailey well done
16:15surprise myself each week
16:17and yeah I think I've done well
16:18I'm proud of what I brought to the competition
16:20Bailey well done
16:21absolutely superb
16:23I'm just making my little pleats for the dresses
16:28but it's just quicker
16:29doing it with a fork
16:30you get all of your pleats the exact same distance
16:33it was a random little tiktok I seen one day
16:36it's cool isn't it
16:37so I'm really surprised he's not done any menswear
16:40because he did so well
16:41I know I know
16:42his menswear garment was stunning
16:44yeah
16:45I don't feel he's pushed himself out of his comfort zone too much
16:48they're not new shapes
16:50it's kind of expected in a way
16:54a maxi a mini one black one white
16:57yeah
16:58will it get into that elevation of the final
17:01I suppose we'll have to see really
17:03hmm
17:05I'm all confused
17:07with the collection showcase approaching
17:11it'll be the first time the designers see their collections on live models
17:15it's way too small
17:16luckily there's a couple of seasoned pros on hand
17:19to show them what to expect
17:22oh look at that
17:24look at that
17:25you might not wait
17:26surely
17:27kiss
17:28there you go
17:29right
17:30the dom
17:31here we go
17:32so you just try and move as much presence as you can into it
17:34and hope you don't fall over and that your flies are done up
17:37oh
17:39yeah
17:40oh look
17:41oh
17:42casual
17:43oh
17:44I'm buttoning
17:45I'm buttoning
17:46I give up
17:47I'm done
17:48oh
17:49I'm done
17:50I'm sweating
17:51and showing he's still got it
17:53is our very own model
17:54okay go
17:56oh maybe not
17:58actually I think quite a lot of male models do it like that
18:04really?
18:05yeah
18:08try this
18:09it's a decent spread this
18:11you've got two hours left
18:13she's not selling pork pies
18:16what are you like eh?
18:20I'm vegetarian
18:21that's got a sewing
18:31it's crazy to think that one of these pieces could be in an M&S store
18:36I know
18:37so happy I went with the silver
18:39yeah?
18:40so happy
18:41this is a little tricky bit now
18:43I'm just trying to like join this shoulder seam but I don't think I've left myself enough room to get in
18:49how's your stuff going Richie?
18:51it's getting there
18:52yeah?
18:53yeah yeah it's getting there
18:54so I've not completed anything fully yet
18:58I'm hoping that because I've been kind of managing it a bit different this time that I hopefully will be okay
19:08designers it's time to crank up the pressure you've got 30 minutes remaining
19:13and remember we don't want to see any naked mannequins
19:19that's
19:20flew by
19:22I'm liking it
19:25I'm liking what I see
19:27and what the f...
19:31blip
19:32I'm stressed that I'm not going to get this done you know
19:35how far are you away from the other one as well?
19:42I've got a lot to do on the black one not going to lie
19:45right
19:46I've just got to focus I've got to concentrate
19:49designers you've only got ten minutes to go
19:54ten minutes to go
19:58it's really exciting I'm actually quite sad that it's coming to an end now
20:05yeah I reckon it's a winning outfit I love this
20:07yeah I'm happy
20:08you've only got 60 seconds left
20:14one minute to go

20:58really happy with it
20:59to come this far obviously it's a massive achievement
21:02and I'm super proud of myself
21:04so yeah I feel like I've already won
21:06at this moment I'm feeling really happy really proud
21:09and I'm just really excited to see the garments moving on
21:13the models and seeing people's reactions to that
21:16I feel like I can breathe now
21:18the opportunity would just really change my life
21:20I'd love to win I really would
21:22I believe I've done enough to win
21:24yeah I'm massively proud of what I've achieved throughout the weeks
21:27I'm sweating
21:29I feel like I'm in touching distance or a mentorship
21:32it means everything you know
21:34it would change my life in a massive way
21:37coming up the designers head to M&S headquarters for the all-important interview
21:42we can only offer this mentorship to one person
21:45why would that candidate be you?
21:48erm
21:49real life models showcase their final collections for the very first time
21:53yeah I'm like a pro-pam
21:57and the winner of dress the nation is revealed
22:00the winner of dress the nation is
22:03the winner of dress the nation is
22:07there's a match
22:24Welcome back to Dress the Nation, where, with the collection showcase fast approaching,
22:41the designers need to fit their garments to real-life models for the very first time.
22:46I don't know if that even turned it on. That would be helpful.
22:48As their party wear must be perfect if they want to win the Marks and Spencer mentorship.
22:53Yeah, it's literally slightly gaping there, but I'm thinking, like, maybe a little strap or something just to, like, keep that to the bod.
23:05Just bring that over your shoulder. Lovely. Like that.
23:10Amazing. Literally don't need to change any... Oh, I've put it on back to front.
23:17After five weeks of giving their all to the competition,
23:20the designers receive a very special surprise visit from their loved ones.
23:28Hi.
23:29Oh, what are you doing? How are you doing?
23:32Oh, sweetheart.
23:34How are you doing? Yeah, good.
23:36It's amazing. Congratulations, my darling.
23:40Well done.
23:41Oh, I don't think you can measure the proudness.
23:43I am a proud mama bear anyway, but seeing her do this is just absolutely outstanding, and, you know, I can see that change in her too now.
23:53You know, I think she's really starting to understand she deserves to be here, and it doesn't matter if she wins.
23:57I want her to win, but just to be here is just absolutely amazing.
24:02Did you make all that? Yeah, I made everything.
24:05I was so surprised to see my mum. I did not expect her to come down at all.
24:08I'm so glad that she's here to experience it all with me.
24:11Can't wait to see it all. It's going to be amazing.
24:14I know, me too.
24:15Oh, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on.
24:17Oh, kiss it.
24:21Hello. Oh, my God.
24:22How's it been?
24:23It's been really good.
24:24I'm proud of myself.
24:26I'm surprised how far I've come, to be honest.
24:28No, I am not.
24:29I knew you would make it this far.
24:31I look after all my friends, because I've never had siblings or things like that, so I know they've got my back.
24:37Yeah, they're just so proud of me.
24:38Well, good luck. Not that you need it, because this looks amazing.
24:42So, I know you'll do amazing.
24:44They didn't doubt me for a second, and they've just been cheering me on the whole time, and I'm excited to go back to them all, hopefully with the win.
24:53Fashion to him is second nature, so I knew he'd do amazing, but just to see him, like, in his element is really cool.
24:59It makes me very proud.
25:00It makes me very proud of him.
25:01It makes me very proud of him.
25:02It makes me very proud of him.
25:03It makes me very proud of him.
25:04It makes me very proud of him.
25:05Wow.
25:06Hello.
25:07What's going on?
25:08Oh, so nice to see you.
25:09You all right?
25:10Wow.
25:11You like it?
25:12Beautiful.
25:13I love it.
25:14I want to inspire my boys.
25:16My family are my biggest motivations.
25:18Every time the going gets tough, I always think about them.
25:21I want them to have a better future, so that's my driving force every single time I'm here.
25:26Give us a pose.
25:28Jeez.
25:29Jeez!
25:30I want to instill values into my boys, to work hard.
25:34With perseverance, you can do anything.
25:36So I feel like every time they see me at home working hard, it instills something in them.
25:40So to see me on this platform, it's major for them.
25:43I love it.
25:44I can't wait.
25:45Bye!
25:46See you later.
25:47Come on.
25:48Oh.
25:49See you.
25:50See you.
25:51Richie knows now that he's not just a tailor.
25:54He's a designer.
25:55He can make, create clothes that people would genuinely love and wear.
26:00So I'm just so happy to see him blossom.
26:03And I'm really excited for the future.
26:09With only one mentorship up for grabs, the designers must undergo one last test
26:14before the collection showcase begins.
26:17An interview at Marks & Spencer Headquarters.
26:19It's a chance for the experts to get an insight into the designers as professionals away from their sewing machines.
26:31So in interviews, I'm usually relaxed.
26:33I believe in myself.
26:34I know what I have to bring to the table, because as well as them helping me, it's about what I can bring to them.
26:38And I know there's a lot I can bring to the table.
26:42Hi, Richie.
26:43Oh.
26:44You look amazing.
26:45Thank you very much.
26:46It's definitely feeling real now.
26:48I mean, just walking into the building this morning, it's a little bit intimidating.
26:52So I feel the pressure.
26:54Hello, baby.
26:55Hello.
26:56Hello, hello.
26:57Feel prepared?
26:58Yeah.
26:59Ready for some questions?
27:00Yep.
27:01Fire away.
27:02I'm really nervous for the interview.
27:04I've been trying so hard for the past year, applying for hundreds and hundreds of jobs.
27:08This opportunity means a lot to me.
27:10Hello.
27:11Hello.
27:12Hi, Casey.
27:13How are you?
27:14I'm good, thanks. How are you?
27:15Yeah, good, thank you.
27:16Casey, what's the dream?
27:17Where's the end goal?
27:18The end goal would be to work in a well-established brand, such as M&S, and just really work my
27:25way up through the company and... I don't know what else I could say.
27:31God, my name's gone blank.
27:36The end goal...
27:40Erm...
27:41Do you know what?
27:42I'm the type of person that doesn't really have a plan.
27:46I always go super lost for words in these situations, just go down a weird rabbit hole.
27:52Erm...
27:53Did you guys know about the fortune teller?
27:56What do you think M&S can learn from Casey?
28:01I think I'm obviously quite young.
28:04I think I have lots of really fresh new concepts and ideas and shapes and silhouettes.
28:10So I think I could definitely just bring a bit of youthfulness, freshness to the M&S design teams.
28:17I think my confidence has grown so much through this competition.
28:20I think if you put me in there in week one, I maybe wouldn't have been as confident.
28:25I think these challenges have really made me realise how I should really back myself as a designer.
28:30You know, I think I've got a unique story.
28:32And, you know, fashion is about sending a message to the world.
28:36It's more than just clothes.
28:37It's about aspiration.
28:38The way I've dedicated myself, knocking on doors, getting the no's, sometimes the yes's.
28:44And look, I'm doing an interview with M&S.
28:47Yeah.
28:48That's major.
28:49I've grown through this process, to be honest.
28:51You know, I've seen the M&S customers come in.
28:53They've enjoyed every single thing I've made.
28:56And it gives me the confidence that, you know, I can do something major on a global scale.
29:01And what do you think M&S can learn from Bailey?
29:04I know you want to bring in the younger consumer.
29:06And like, my sort of demographic is probably what you're aiming to target towards.
29:13So instead of having to research that, I sort of am that.
29:18We can only offer this mentorship to one person.
29:20Yeah.
29:21Why would that candidate be you?
29:23You know, giving me the opportunity, I'll make the most of it.
29:26I know that for sure.
29:27You know, I've made the most of little.
29:28So can you imagine what I can do with much?
29:30I think it should be me because I have a lot of potential and a lot to give.
29:36And I'm really open to adapting and taking all the advice on board.
29:40And I've learnt so much of this experience.
29:42And I'm really excited and looking forward to continuing my career and learning and soaking up as much as I possibly can.
29:48So Bailey, we can only offer this mentorship to one person.
29:52Why should that one person be you?
29:54I think I've just got a real drive to succeed.
29:59And I think, you know, with the right help, I could do well.
30:04Thank you very much.
30:06Thank you, Bailey.
30:07Well done.
30:09Thanks.
30:10I'm super impressed with how that went.
30:13I answered to the best of my ability.
30:16And I mean, the opportunity is obviously amazing.
30:19And I would love it, but I already feel like I've made it.
30:23Richie, thank you so much for your time.
30:25Thank you so much.
30:26I'm honored to be here.
30:28It changed my life in a major way.
30:29The exposure will be phenomenal.
30:31And yeah, very confident.
30:33I think you can't do anything unless you are confident about it.
30:36So that's brought me this far and going all the way.
30:39I just want to say it's been so lovely to meet you all.
30:42And I've just got something here.
30:45I've got some business cards here.
30:47And I'm just...
30:48If any opportunities ever came up, I'd just love to keep in touch with you.
30:52We won't tell anyone else.
30:55This mentorship means a lot to me.
30:57It really is the guidance that I'm needing, that I've been searching for,
31:01to really guide me into whatever role I'm supposed to be in.
31:04So I really want this.
31:06Some Richie.
31:07He was really strong.
31:08Yeah.
31:09Very well prepared.
31:10He really, really wants it.
31:11He gets it.
31:12So important.
31:13And he gets it, yeah.
31:14The thing with Bailey is he's so passionate.
31:15Yeah.
31:16But I'm not sure he showed us the best version of himself.
31:17No.
31:18I wondered if he was a bit too laid back.
31:19Yeah.
31:20Yeah.
31:21Casey, did you get a little bit of kind of nervousness?
31:22What did you think?
31:23There were a couple where she was, she almost had to second guess or something.
31:25Yeah.
31:26Her answers were so good.
31:27Yeah.
31:28She's so kind of warm.
31:29And she's just so clearly enjoyed this experience and learnt so much from it.
31:33Yeah, yeah, yeah.
31:34Gosh, it's going to be really difficult to choose between them.
31:58Yeah.
31:59Yeah.
32:00I'm on an M&S shoot.
32:01All right.
32:02See you in a bit.
32:03Sorry.
32:04Pause.
32:10Where are they?
32:11Where are they?
32:12Where are they?
32:13A.J.
32:14Walsh.
32:15I don't know when you get it all, pal.
32:21Welcome back to Dress the Nation, where the first to arrive for the Designers Collection

34:06Oh, brilliant.
34:08I love it.
34:09Woo!
34:14Mind-blowing.
34:15What I dream.
34:21This is our first people.
34:23Nice pair.
34:25And please, give it up for the man himself, Richie!
34:29Yeah!
34:31So good!
34:36Richie, congratulations.
34:38Thank you very much.
34:39Are you happy with your collection?
34:40I'm over the moon.
34:41Yeah, just seeing it come to life,
34:43what I've had in my head for so long,
34:45it just feels like a dream.
34:46But dreams do come true.
34:48Oh, I'm so glad.
34:49So, Mitch, what are your thoughts?
34:51Well, first of all, congratulations, it looks fantastic.
34:53I think the, um, the finesse you point to each garment,
34:55they really pair together.
34:57And individually, they're very strong as well, so build them.
35:00And David, I know that you are a big fan of tailoring.
35:02Does this collection do it for you?
35:05Richie, if you make it, mate, I'll buy it and wear it.
35:08Oh, serious?
35:09I want to wear everything that you're making, so...
35:11Oh, wow.
35:12High praise indeed.
35:13I mean, I can only echo what everyone said.
35:15I think it's so sharp, it's so clean,
35:17and to have such a clear design DNA across both men's and women's,
35:22I think both looks are equally as strong is, really, hats off to you.
35:26Give it up one more time for Richie, everyone.
35:28Yeah!
35:29Next up, with his hyper femme, super chill party wear,
35:36let's welcome the collection from Bailey.
35:39That looks super cute.
35:42Woo!
36:02Woo!
36:03Woo!
36:05Yeah, yeah.
36:06Woo!
36:11Woo!
36:12Yay!
36:13So good!
36:14All you got is going to come?
36:15No, I'm not.
36:16I'm not.
36:17I'm not.
36:18I'm not.
36:19I'm not.
36:20I'm not.
36:21I'm not.
36:22I'm not.
36:23I'm not.
36:23I'm not.
36:25All right, that's what we got.
36:26I'm not.
36:27I'm not.
36:28You got it.
36:28So good.
36:30I'm just living there.
36:31Whoo-hoo-hoo!
36:32That's called classic, but it's still hot.
36:36I get money.
36:38I met my kids who come to life.
36:40And please welcome the man himself, Bailey, everybody!
36:45Wow.
36:47What the hell?
36:48Well done, Bailey, congratulations.
36:50How are you feeling with your final collection
36:52in front of all your friends and family?
36:54Yeah, I'm overjoyed and I've had a sick time.
36:57I'm super proud of myself.
36:59Let's hear some thoughts from our experts.
37:01What do you think, Lisa?
37:03I love the contrast between the black and the white,
37:06the short and the long.
37:07I think the attention to detail with the little ruffles,
37:10and the kind of feminised pussy bow ties at the back
37:13is really lovely.
37:14Some really, really strong features.
37:17I think there's a real clear direction.
37:19I think the colour palette is very beautiful.
37:22A bias cut dress isn't the easiest thing to do
37:24and I think you've done it very successfully.
37:28Thanks, everyone.
37:31And last but by no means least
37:35with her party wear collection.
37:37Combining glamour and comfort
37:39with a feminine silhouette,
37:41please welcome the collection of Casey.
37:45I'm genuinely in shock.
37:46I never thought I'd be here.
37:47I never thought I'd make it to the final.
37:49So I'm just so happy.
37:50It doesn't feel real.
37:51Oh, my God.
38:10Oh, my God.
38:10Oh, my God.
38:12With the joy
38:42Please welcome the designer of this wonderful collection, Kasey!
39:00Congratulations! Thank you. How are you feeling?
39:14I'm feeling amazing. It's been the best opportunity ever. I've loved every single minute of it
39:19and I'm just so grateful to be here, surrounded by amazing people.
39:22Oh, look at your mum!
39:24So proud.
39:26Well, let's see what our experts thought. Lisa.
39:29I think you've done incredibly well. The liquid gold, the drape on the shoulder, the volume on the sleeve.
39:36They're all new party dressing details that are really feminine and forward.
39:41I think the black suit, you've hit on tailoring but in a really new and different way.
39:47David, what did you make of Kasey's collection?
39:49Both those outfits, if they were in vogue on the front cover, would not look out of place, so they look incredible well on.
39:54I mean, the Grecian gold dress. I would be straight down at Marks & Spencer's and buying one immediately.
40:00I think it looks beautiful. You've done a fantastic job.
40:04Thank you. I'm speechless, to be honest. I'm just so happy.
40:07Well done, Kasey. Excellent stuff. Give a big round of applause, everyone.
40:12Well done.
40:17Love you guys.
40:21The designers have done all they can. Their collections are now on display for all to see.
40:28I want this one.
40:30But it's the opinion of the Marks & Spencer experts which is most important.
40:36Three amazing designers. What a fantastic finale. You're obviously going to have a very difficult decision.
40:43But let's talk about all of our designers, starting with Richie.
40:46Richie had a bit of a shaky start. His first challenge design was Mr. Brief. It was not a dress. It was more of a jacket.
40:55Yeah, he definitely had a rocky start. But I think once he hit menswear week, kind of really came into his own.
41:01I think he has actually progressed at each stage. He's obviously taken the feedback on board.
41:05And then he kind of went on from strength to strength.
41:08Yeah.
41:09There's somebody there that has a lot of talent and a lot of skill, but also has the ability to execute his vision.
41:15Everything he's doing, I could give him ten guys tomorrow that would go and buy his suiting. He's already a brand.
41:21Richie's kind of ready-made.
41:23I am so proud of him. I know when he started fashion back in college.
41:29And then to come this far and create something like this, something that I would actually wear out with my girls, is incredible.
41:37And I'm so proud of him. This is wonderful. This is beautiful.
41:41OK, let's move on to Bailey.
41:43I would say overall with Bailey, it's been an up and down process. But overall, he's got stronger every week.
41:50Bailey had a very difficult first challenge. An underwhelming autumn dress, has to be said.
41:57But then came menswear week, and he shot up.
42:02Yeah, absolutely. I think he picked the right fabric. It was Heritage Week.
42:06And it really kind of stood apart from everything else, really.
42:09But our customers really respond to consistency.
42:12And with Bailey, you know, it's quite a pendulum.
42:15You don't know what you're going to get.
42:17I just feel like it just screams him.
42:20And whatever he does just translates to everyone else as well, because it's so in and creative.
42:25And it's hard not to like anything that he does.
42:27Let's move on to Casey. Initially, week one, we had tears.
42:30And then she slowly fired her feet. Her progression has been nothing but positive.
42:34Her first challenge, the vision, I think the potential of what that design could have been, was really what got her through that, rather than the execution necessarily.
42:45She's definitely very ambitious, quite avant-garde, but actually pushing the boundaries to her credit.
42:51I think that her design vision would convert really well into something that could be very commercial.
42:57When we watched them all, I think her work ethic is phenomenal, really.
43:02Her tenacity is amazing.
43:04From a team player point of view, you know, you'd have Casey and your team all day long.
43:08Yeah, absolutely. I think how you work within a team and how you bounce ideas and inspire is so important.
43:16I think it's equally as important as the skill set they bring to the table from a design point of view.
43:21It's, I mean, it's blown me away. I've seen her work before, but this is just absolutely stunning.
43:28Honestly, I just can't express how proud I am of her and how she's managed to showcase herself and let everybody see how fantastic she is.
43:37It sounds like it's incredibly class and you've got such a tough decision on your hands.
43:42You know, they've all got their strong points, they've all got their weak points and, yeah, it's not easy.
43:48No. They could all benefit from this in very different ways, but equally important.
43:54Completely. I think it's really hard to call at the moment. I think we've got a tough, tough conversation.
44:07Honestly, we think you've all absolutely smashed it and we just know for the fact that your futures are bright.
44:15But, of course, it is a competition and only one of you can take that next huge step in your career.
44:26With the help of Marks & Spencer.
44:31The winner of Dress the Nation is...
44:40Casey!
44:42...
44:53Thank you!
44:55You're amazing!
44:56Amazing!
45:02You're so amazing!
45:05Oh, Casey, congratulations, you're gonna set me off. How are you feeling?
45:08Are you feeling I'm in shock. I can't believe it. I
45:12Don't think on day one that this would be the possibility so honestly
45:15I'm just so proud of everyone and I just want to thank everyone who's helped me get through this competition to be here
45:21Thank you so much honestly. Oh, it's so wonderful to thank you
45:31I feel amazing. I honestly did not expect it at all. I'm really shocked
45:35I don't think it's kept in that. It's actually real. Yeah, I'm just speechless
45:40KC is the start of a journey. She's like a sponge and we all feel across all
45:44Department of M&S we can really help KC grow but also KC can help us as well
45:50So yeah, we're a really truly worthy winner
45:53This mentorship is a turning point in my life and honestly
45:55I can't wait to just put all my energy into hopefully a long-term career in design
46:05It's just a few weeks since KC was crowned champion of dress the nation and she now gets to see the fully finished article
46:16Ahead of it being sold in select stores and online tomorrow. Oh my god. Wow. I
46:23Can't believe that this is real and it has the M&S people in it. It's so so surreal seeing my design here. I
46:31I love it. I really do. I'm so happy
46:35It's amazing did not imagine when I was in Dundee that I'd be here looking at a dress that I designed and that being ready to go and be sold to
46:43Real people in real M&S stores. I can't wait to see the model in it as well
46:47But her finished dress isn't the only surprise for KC
46:51It looks so good as she's about to get her first proper taste of the glitz and glamour of the fashion industry
46:57I never ever expected that it would be a collab with me and M&S
47:02It's just so much more than I ever imagined being part of the campaign and be stood beside my design
47:07Just feeling really proud of it definitely one of the highlights of my life
47:12Yeah, I'm really looking forward to the mentorship now. I think it's gonna be life-changing
47:27I think you'll find my friend that this is a wrap
47:55Oh, is that M&S?
47:57Of course it is
