The contestants in this show are Pat & Dave Brumston from Yorkshire, Maureen Howells & Carl Powell from Glamorgan, Bill & Sarah Lucas from Essex, and Derek Scott and Sarah Smithers from Hampshire. Bruce Forsyth is back as host after his bad bout of flu, helped out by Rosemary Ford, though he is thrown by the fact that two of the contestants are nurses. "I told you, I'm not ill now," he tells the producers. Among the stories from the contestants - which got lost a bit with the high energy of Jim Davidson in the last episode - are one contestant with his bad luck with a broken leg, another with a fear of snakes and a third whose honeymoon in France got off to a difficult start. It's just as tricky in the games, which include "Loggerithms" (involving the Royal Navy), "Pull the Other One" (making Xmas crackers), "Scottish Karaoke" and "Animal Noises" (guess the noise to the animal). The finale is a flashback for one contestant as it involves the Moulin Rouge and the can can. But who can and who can't will decide who goes through to the conveyor belt of prizes, and guest judge for the finale is Su Pollard. This should be interesting...

00:00Life is the name of the game, and I want to play the game with you.
00:09Life can be terribly great, if you don't play the game with two.
00:16And I want to play the game with you.
00:30Thank you very much indeed, oh, thank you very much.
00:36Good evening, good evening ladies and gentlemen, children, welcome to Generation Game, nice to see you, to see you.
00:44And I do apologise for not being with you last week, but I would like to thank Jim Davidson for stepping in it.
00:51Stepping in.
00:54Thank you so much Jim, you're a real pal.
00:57But I've had this flu virus for six weeks, you know, and then the other day, the doctor arrived with a bunch of flowers.
01:03I said, why'd you bring flowers? He said, well, I thought I might have been too late.
01:08Then he said, we might have to operate. I said, what for? He said, well, there's not much on television.
01:13Then the consultant came in to have a look at me. He was even worse.
01:17He said, you might have gallstones. I said, what can you give me for that?
01:20He said, how about a catapult?
01:22But he is the best medicine in the world. Oh, she's young, she's attractive.
01:28She has that rare blend of talent and personality.
01:32The gorgeous, the ever lovely, Miss Rosemary Ford.
01:35Oh, Rose, that was such a lovely introduction. I mean, all those very flattering remarks.
01:53Well, don't get too cocky. I had to tell him who it was.
01:55Otherwise, we could have been here all night.
01:57Well, that's not very nice. I mean, if I gave you an introduction, it would be honest, sincere and from the heart.
02:04Really?
02:05Yes, absolutely.
02:06Well, in that case, I'll go off and you give me an introduction.
02:09All right, then.
02:10Because you never introduce me, do you?
02:11Okay, then go on, if you go.
02:11All right, it's got to be honest and flattering and from the heart.
02:14I promise you, I promise you.
02:15I can't wait for this.
02:17Right.
02:18Ladies and gentlemen, would you please give a warm welcome to an elderly gentleman who's been around for years and years and years and years and years.
02:27Just a moment.
02:29Well, I haven't finished introduction yet.
02:30Introduction is more like an epitaph.
02:34Ladies and gentlemen, that the warmth of your applause bring cheer to an old man who many say is clapped out.
02:41And she'll pack it all in.
02:42The one and only...
02:44All right, don't bother.
02:45Don't bother.
02:46Just introduce the contestants.
02:48Okay.
02:49All right.
02:49Right, our first team are from West Yorkshire.
02:52They're mother...
02:53I didn't die, you know.
02:55They're from West Yorkshire.
02:57They're mother and son and...
02:58I only had the flu.
03:02First team from West Yorkshire.
03:03They're mother and son.
03:05Pat and Dave Brompton.
03:07There you go.
03:16How are you?
03:17And how are you?
03:18Right.
03:18There you are, Pat.
03:19Brompton.
03:20Brompton.
03:20I see.
03:21And you're married to Denise.
03:23Oh, Dennis.
03:24Eh?
03:24Dennis.
03:25Oh, Dennis.
03:26Oh, sorry.
03:26Oh, I thought his mother wanted a girl.
03:28What does he do?
03:30He's a yarn spinner.
03:31A yarn spinner?
03:32Oh, he's a comedian.
03:33Oh, yes.
03:34That's what I do.
03:35Tell us about the proposal.
03:37Oh, well, he never really did propose.
03:39He just told me...
03:39She sounded like Mavis then.
03:42Oh, well, he didn't really propose.
03:44You did, didn't you?
03:45Yeah, I thought I did.
03:46You couldn't help yourself there.
03:47Right.
03:47Tell us about the proposal.
03:48Well, he just told me that I was the girl who was going to marry one day while we were playing sardines.
03:53If you remember sardines, we were under a table.
03:56Playing sardines?
03:57Sardines.
03:58Playing sardines under a table?
04:00Yeah.
04:00Oh, yeah.
04:01Oh, lovely.
04:01Tell us about your honeymoon then.
04:03Well, we came to London.
04:04Yes.
04:04Oh, lovely.
04:05And we weren't very rich.
04:07Oh, yes.
04:08You know, we were quite poor.
04:09Yes, yes.
04:09And every night, we took a bottle of lemonade back to drink in bed because we seemed to get very dry.
04:21Yes.
04:22The shop was wonderful where we bought it.
04:23They used to wrap it in tissue and we used to pretend it was a bottle of wine.
04:27Oh.
04:27So that was very sweet.
04:28Yeah, that's lovely.
04:29That is lovely.
04:32So it was a sardine proposal and lemonade on the honeymoon.
04:37Yes, I could just see you two in bed drinking a bottle of pop.
04:41I hope we didn't put you off your snap and crackle.
04:44Anyway, over now to your son, David.
04:46Yep.
04:47Brunton again.
04:48Brunton, yes.
04:48And what do you do?
04:49I'm general manager of a hedging supplies company.
04:51Oh, lovely, lovely.
04:52What's all this about a broken leg?
04:54Yeah, well, I just recovered from having a broken leg and I went down to the rugby final
04:59at Wembley and as I was walking down Wembley Way, I swung round on a pole.
05:03Yeah.
05:04Now, I knew it was a pole.
05:04Definitely it wasn't a Czechoslovakian.
05:06It was a pole.
05:07He's doing the jokes here.
05:12Good, go on.
05:13So, as I was coming down, thinking about my bad leg that I just had mended, I put the
05:18other one down and broke that one.
05:20No.
05:21So you just got over broken well leg and then you broke the other leg.
05:25That's right.
05:26So it was quite a while before you got your leg all right.
05:29It was quite a while before you got his leg all right again.
05:38You make up your own jokes.
05:40And, um, oh, I've got a joke here.
05:44We'll do this joke, OK?
05:45Get ready for this.
05:46I say to you, do you know how to make a German wine, OK?
05:49How do you make a German wine?
05:50Then we say, I don't know, Bruce.
05:51Oh, I don't know, Bruce.
05:52Bruce, how do you make a...
05:54I don't know, Bruce.
06:00I get the laugh line, you see.
06:02All you say is, I don't know, Bruce.
06:04How do you make a German wine?
06:06I don't know, Bruce.
06:07How do you make a German wine?
06:08Pinchy's dick's here.
06:17Oh, I'm cutting Mavis out.
06:22I don't know that.
06:24I can't do that.
06:25Will you wait over there, though?
06:27I will.
06:27Right, off you go over there.
06:28Nice couple.
06:29There we are.
06:33Yorkshire again, you think.
06:35Yorkshire again.
06:36Where travel to Yorkshire, right?
06:38Who have we got now, for goodness sake?
06:40Our second teens.
06:41Oh, dear.
06:41Second teens from Blue Morgan.
06:43Their mother-in-law and son-in-law,
06:45Maureen Howells and Carl Powells.
06:47Right.
06:55Hello.
06:56Welcome, welcome.
06:57Now, then, you are Maureen Howells.
07:00And what do you do, my darling?
07:01Well, I'm a retired nurse now.
07:02I don't work anymore.
07:03You don't work, but you're a retired nurse.
07:05How tall are you?
07:074'11".
07:08Oh, 4'11".
07:09Well, we should be grateful for small nurses.
07:14It's a shame, isn't it?
07:16Have you had any unusual patients in Mutherdam in your career?
07:20Well, I did one.
07:21An old man.
07:22Oh, yeah.
07:22An old man, yes.
07:23Yeah, we were very busy one morning,
07:24and he had a glass eye.
07:26He had a glass eye?
07:26Yeah, so I had to fix it in for him.
07:29And when the nurses came down the wall,
07:31they didn't know which way he was looking,
07:32because I'd put it in upside down.
07:38So he didn't know where he was coming and going?
07:41Oh, that's terrible.
07:42Now, you've been married to Stan for 20 years,
07:45and your wedding night was also Stan's birthday.
07:48Oh, well, tell us about that.
07:49Oh, what a bit of luck.
07:49What happened?
07:51Well, it was a very, very cold night.
07:53Mm-hmm.
07:53And we didn't get back until about 2 in the morning.
07:56Yeah.
07:57Very, very cold.
07:58Yeah.
07:59And it was so cold, it's Stan's...
08:01The steam was coming out of Stan's feet.
08:03Really?
08:03How did his socks throw his feet?
08:05Because of his socks.
08:05How did his socks throw his feet?
08:07Yeah, because...
08:07Not because of sex, because it was cold.
08:09Oh, because he was...
08:10No, because it was nice.
08:12No, not because it was I, you know,
08:13but his feet were cold.
08:14Yes, well, I was going to say,
08:15was it before or after, but...
08:17You killed that one.
08:19Right, Sue?
08:22Sue?
08:22I wish I'd have started this.
08:25I wish I'd have had another week off there.
08:27And now to your son-in-law.
08:30Son-in-law?
08:30Oh, they're fine.
08:31Carl.
08:32Yeah.
08:32Carl Powles.
08:33Powles.
08:33And you're married to Maggie.
08:34Have you got any children?
08:35Yeah, I've got three children.
08:37Yeah.
08:37Jack, Chloe...
08:38Yeah.
08:38And Molly, who was born just last week.
08:40No!
08:42Well, a few days ago.
08:43Yeah, I'm only doing that.
08:44Oh, Mr. Monrogy, come on.
08:47There's a cigar from all of us.
08:49Thank you, Ben.
08:49The Generation Game to you.
08:51Thank you, Ben.
08:51And all the luck in the world to you.
08:53That's absolutely lovely.
08:54Now, tell me, how did you meet Maggie?
08:56I met Maggie in one of the local pubs one night.
08:59Yeah.
08:59She offered me a cigarette.
09:00Oh, yeah.
09:01Which then exploded in my face.
09:02Oh.
09:03And I laugh in stock of the pub.
09:04Everybody loves it.
09:05Everybody loves it.
09:05Oh, I hate jokes like that.
09:07I really do.
09:15Right.
09:15Now, you passed your driving test in two weeks.
09:19That was well done, right from start to finish.
09:21Yeah.
09:21That's great.
09:22Have you any achievements at all, Maureen?
09:24Well, yes.
09:25I was frightened of snakes.
09:26So, one day, I went to a circus and I had a 12-foot python put around me.
09:31A 12-foot python?
09:3212-foot python.
09:32Wrap around you?
09:33Yeah.
09:33Oh.
09:34It was lovely.
09:35Yeah, you could have done with that on your wedding night.
09:39Anyway, off you go over there.

09:42Another night.
09:43Thank you all.

18:04Just step over it.
18:05And then a nice big finishing pose.
18:07All right then.
18:08Here we go.
18:09One, two, three.
18:11Good.
18:12Good.
18:12Good.
18:17Well done, indeed.
18:19Come round here.
18:20Let's have reality back.
18:22And once again, thank you to the members of HMS Temeraria.
18:27Come on.
18:32You are brave.
18:34And please welcome to judge this the gentleman who's been shouting out all the instructions,
18:39Warrant Officer Mick O'Shea.
18:42Yes.
18:47Thank you so much for being here and all your gentleman and the lady.
18:51But a few comments over here, first of all.
18:54Dave, obviously, was very, very strong.
18:56He stayed with the routine as long as he could and he worked hard throughout.
18:59The only thing, I was a bit concerned about the shirt.
19:02But apart from that, he was very, very good.
19:05Pat, enthusiastic throughout.
19:07Very, very good.
19:08Stayed with it very much.
19:10And we like that enthusiasm.
19:11And I would give Dave eight.
19:13Eight?
19:14And Pat seven.
19:15Very good, indeed.
19:16Lovely, lovely.
19:17OK.
19:18Now, I want to get over here.
19:20Well, Carl, again, is very, very good.
19:21Very strong, obviously.
19:22He had good ski jumps.
19:24Maureen, as well.
19:25Very good balance, Maureen.
19:28Her little legs couldn't even touch the floor.
19:31Good voice.
19:32The screaming was very, very good.
19:35So, both teams were excellent.
19:37But I would award Maureen six and Carl eight.
19:40I see.
19:40So, six and eight there.
19:42Well done, all of you.
19:44Now, thanks for making it up just for the generation game.
19:47We're very, very grateful to all of you, and especially you, Mick O'Shea.
19:52It's a pleasure.
19:52Thank you very much again.
19:54There we are.
19:55All righty.
19:56All righty.
19:58What's on the board, Miss Ford?
20:00Dave and Pat have 15.
20:03Maureen and Carl have 14.
20:05Only one minute managers.
20:07Okay?
20:08So, go and sit yourselves over there, all of you, and relax you for a few minutes.
20:12Our second game is called Pull the Other One.
20:15But first of all, feast your eyes on these.
20:19Now, let's meet the lady who made all those from the creative cracker company, Kim Harrison.
20:25Thank you for being with us.
20:34Now, what was the most expensive box of crackers you've ever made?
20:37We've actually produced a box of 12 at £10,000.
20:41£10,000.
20:42So, all the gifts were watches and valuable jewellery.
20:44Very valuable presents, yes.
20:46Oh, lovely.
20:46That must have been wonderful to me.
20:48How about that?
20:48Now, come over, all of you.
20:50Get nice and close so that you can see and hear everything Kim has to tell you.
20:56But where you go, Kim?
20:57Right.
20:57First of all, glue in the middle.
21:00And we'll stick our middle tube on.
21:03Hat, gift, and motto inside the middle tube.
21:07Snap underneath.
21:09Then we start to roll end tubes in.
21:12Make sure you roll the cracker nice and tight around the middle barrel.
21:15Ah, yes.
21:16Another line of glue.
21:17It's keeping it tight there.
21:18It's one of the secrets, isn't it?
21:20Press it down.
21:20Kim?
21:21Yeah, I'll try.
21:22Good.
21:23Glue our ends in.
21:24OK.
21:27How many of these do you make in a day?
21:30I can make 80 boxes of six in a day.
21:3380 boxes?
21:34Six in each one?
21:34Six in the box, yeah.
21:38That's it.
21:39Glue it down.
21:40Punch it in.
21:42Then we tie our bows.
21:43We love crackers.
21:44As we do at Christmastime.
21:49Not only my little boy.
21:52We all enjoy them, you know.
21:55That's it.
21:55Nice bows they are, aren't they?
21:57With the tartan as well.
21:59They're beautiful.
22:00Very festive.
22:01Lovely colour.
22:01The whole colour is...
22:02For our finishing touch, our bow in the middle.
22:05The little bow in the middle.
22:06And there we are.
22:08There's that lovely Christmas cracker.
22:11All right?
22:12OK, Kim.
22:14Can you come back and do some Martin's heart?
22:16Thank you very much indeed.
22:18OK, get to your table.
22:19OK.
22:20Get to your tables.
22:22Right.
22:22Now you've got about a minute to make your cracker starting from now.
22:27OK?
22:27Try and remember what Kim did.
22:30You know, there's a little bit of gluey stuff in the right places all the time.
22:40That's it.
22:41Right.
22:52Right, 30 seconds.
22:54So keep moving.
22:55You should be starting to get your creases in and your ribbons.
23:00You should be up to there about now.
23:02OK.
23:03Tie them in pretty bows if you can.
23:06Whatever you're doing.
23:08Hurry, hurry, hurry.
23:10Get as much on as you can now.
23:11Get as much on as you can in the last few seconds.
23:14Move yourself.
23:15Don't help me.
23:16Wherever you're up to, stop.
23:17Wherever you're up to, stop.
23:20Naughty girl, Pat.
23:22Naughty girl.
23:23Right.
23:23Come back, Kim, and do some marking, if you will.
23:30Come on, you come.
23:31If you don't mind getting up,
23:33I'm just coming up a little bit.
23:35Claire, what do you think of this one?
23:37He didn't finish with...
23:38He didn't get that on.
23:39No, he's made a very brave effort, though.
23:41Brave effort, yes.
23:42Got all the gifts soon.
23:43Not bad.
23:44I'll give Dave seven out of ten.
23:45Seven out of ten.
23:46Well done, Dave.
23:47All right.
23:50What do you think about this one?
23:51Yes.
23:52Yes.
23:53I'm afraid someone wouldn't be very happy with Bearcracker.
23:55Oh, you left your things.
23:57You didn't put your gifts in.
23:58And the paper hat and the motto.
24:01Oh, what a shame you forgot that.
24:03She has got one ribbon on, though.
24:04One ribbon on.
24:05So for that, I give her six out of ten.
24:07Six?
24:08You're very generous.
24:09Well, you are very generous.
24:10That is very generous.
24:11Mark, indeed.
24:12And what about here?
24:15Yeah, Maureen's done a very good effort.
24:16She has done a good effort, hasn't she?
24:18All her ribbons on.
24:19All her ribbons on.
24:20Oh, and the bow as well.
24:21So for Maureen, I give her seven out of ten.
24:23You give her seven.
24:24Well done, indeed.
24:25Well done, indeed.
24:26There.
24:27How about this one here?
24:29Yeah, well, Carl's done a very good job, again.
24:31It's very good.
24:32It's very tight.
24:33Yes, it all should have been on that side.
24:34And even though the end barrels are slightly out, they're very tight as well.
24:38So for that, I'll give him eight out of ten.
24:39Eight?
24:40Well done.
24:41Well done, indeed.
24:43You have to be the best one.
24:44Well, give our love to everybody at the factory.
24:47And thank you very much.
24:47Give them a Merry Christmas to you.
24:49There you are, guys.
24:56Welcome aboard, Miss Ford.
25:00Dave and Pat have 28.
25:02Yes.
25:03Maureen and Carl have 29.
25:05Oh!
25:07So you've caught up.
25:09You've caught up.
25:10You're well behind.
25:11Well done, sorry.
25:12Thank you, you do.
25:14Oh, because leaving those crackers out, I think.
25:16Oh, what a mistake to make.
25:19But you will be getting a Generation Game telephone, each of you.
25:22And thank you for being such an important part of our show.
25:24And we'll see you in our grand final, which is coming up very soon.
25:28Off you all go, then.
25:30There you go.
25:31There you go.
25:32Five.
25:33Lovely, lovely, lovely.
25:35Right.
25:36They're so easy.
25:37Oh, you know what I'm saying?
25:38All right, now.
25:39Who have we got now?
25:40They're from Essex.
25:41They're father-in-law and daughter-in-law.
25:43Bill and Sarah Lewis.
25:45Right.
25:45How are you?
25:54Very well, thanks, boys.
25:55I love the shirt.
25:56Cool.
25:57Lovely.
25:57That is beautiful.
25:58Right, you're Sarah Lewis.
25:59Lewis, and what do you do?
26:01I'm a staff mess.
26:02Oh, not another one.
26:03Well, there's the second one tonight.
26:05I'm all right now.
26:06Where were they a week ago?
26:12You were married to Andy for nine years, and you honeymooned in Paris.
26:16Yes.
26:16Oh, how lovely, how romantic.
26:19No, not really.
26:20Oh.
26:20We went by train.
26:22You went by train?
26:22Yeah.
26:23The train was late.
26:24We got to the train station about half past ten.
26:26Yeah.
26:27We couldn't find anywhere to stay, so we ended up staying the night in the train station with
26:31all the drunks, homeless, and vagrants.
26:33The drunks, homeless, and the vagrants, yeah.
26:36Like this audience.
26:40So what happened after that, then?
26:41After that, we went and found a really nice hotel at the bottom of the Eiffel Tower.
26:46At the bottom of the Eiffel Tower?
26:47Yeah.
26:48Oh, how lovely.
26:49Oh, that's beautiful.
26:51I mean, imagine opening the curtains on your honeymoon and seeing the Eiffel Tower.
26:57Right.
26:57Any pets?
27:00What's the matter?
27:02Any pets at all?
27:04Yes, we have a cockatiel called Toot and Carman.
27:06Oh, a cockatiel?
27:08Toot and Carman?
27:09Yes, yes.
27:09Toots for sure.
27:10Yes, Toots for sure.
27:11We used to have another one called Queen Nefertiti.
27:14Oh, I see.
27:14Queenie for sure.
27:15Oh, yeah.
27:16But one night they had a massive fight, and Toots ended up without any feathers.
27:20No.
27:22Well, why did Queenie keep doing that to Toots?
27:24I think Toots was trying to get his wing over.
27:29Yes, yes.
27:33Queenie was trying to get his wing over.
27:37I can see I'm the straight man here tonight.
27:39I'm going to go to the shirt here.
27:40And it's Bill Lewis.
27:41Bill Lewis.
27:42And you're married to Pamela for 38 years.
27:44Where did you meet?
27:45At Edmonton Town Hall Swimming Bar.
27:48No, Edmonton is where I was born.
27:50I know.
27:50I was born in Victoria Road.
27:52Really?
27:52Well, not in the road, but I mean.
27:56I wasn't drug up in the gutter either.
28:00Where did you get married?
28:02At Tottenham Registry Office.
28:03Tottenham Registry Office?
28:05I was a regular customer.
28:16As a witness.
28:19All right.
28:19Have you got any special talents at all?
28:23Well, I can usually find a song for every occasion.
28:26If someone says anything, I usually have a song to go with it.
28:28Oh.
28:29Well, can we give you a bit of a test?
28:31Well, you can try.
28:32Well, let's try.
28:33Let's try.
28:33By the way, Bruce, I haven't got a very good voice.
28:35Oh, it doesn't matter about that.
28:36If I said to you, what time is it?
28:40Three o'clock in the morning, we dance the high.
28:44Yeah, yeah.
28:45You're right about the voice, yeah.
28:46Well, that was very quick.
28:48You got into that very quick.
28:50Now, if I said, what sort of time is it?
28:52Well, it's still three o'clock in the morning.
28:55Oh, sorry.
29:00All right.
29:01Go on.
29:03Go on.
29:04Go on.
29:05Go on.
29:07What about nice to see you to see you not?
29:10I'll be seeing you in all the old familiar places.
29:14Very good.
29:15The way you just put it together.
29:17I know you.
29:17He's an Eppington boy, you see.
29:20An Eppington boy up here.
29:21Okay.
29:22Lovely to see you.
29:23Lovely to be with you tonight.
29:24Thank you, Bruce.
29:24Pop over there.
29:25We've got a couple going to play against you.
29:26What about these two?
29:27Nice people.
29:29Nice people.
29:31Yes.
29:31Now then, who have we got now?
29:34The last team.
29:35Yes, they're from Hampshire.
29:36They're father and daughter, Derek Scott and Sandy Smithers.
29:48Welcome and welcome.
29:50There you are, Sandy Smithers.
29:52And what do you do?
29:53Housewife and mother.
29:54Housewife and mother.
29:55And you're married to Malk.
29:56Yes.
29:57Tell us about your first date.
29:58Well, he took me to the pictures to see Rocky.
30:01Oh, yes.
30:01And then he asked me to go back to his house, which I did.
30:04Yeah.
30:05And then he suggested that I stayed the night.
30:07Oh, the night.
30:08Yes, because he said it would be too dark for me to drive home.
30:11Oh, really?
30:12And I thought, here we go.
30:15But he was very gentlemanly.
30:17Even though he lived in a three-bedroom house.
30:19Yes.
30:20He suggested that I have the bed and he stayed on the sofa.
30:23Did he really?
30:24Yes, he did.
30:25Oh, well, I'll make a note of that.
30:29Plonker.
30:30Tell us about the proposal.
30:38Well, I proposed to Malcolm on a leap year.
30:41Oh, you did?
30:42Yes.
30:42I took him out to dinner with all of my family.
30:45He was very surprised, but he said, yeah.
30:48Really?
30:48Just like that?
30:49Yeah.
30:49Well, I'll make another note.
30:51Yes.
30:52Pushy.
30:54Mind you, you've got to be pushy with a plonker.
30:56Oh!
30:59Have you ever won anything?
31:01Yes, I won a wet t-shirt competition in Ibiza on holiday.
31:05Oh, did you?
31:05A wet t-shirt competition?
31:07Competition.
31:08Yeah, well, I bet you won it for two very good reasons.
31:11Now, over to your dad.
31:14I had to keep me eyes up there most of the time.
31:16Like that, the whole time.
31:17Now, it's over to your dad, Derek.
31:19Derek Scott.
31:20Derek Scott.
31:20Oh, I love your oats.
31:22Thank you, Derek.
31:23I suppose you do too.
31:25Right, and what do you do, Derek?
31:27I'm a training officer of a large pharmaceutical company.
31:30I see, fine.
31:31And you're married to Hazel for 35 years.
31:33Where did you meet Hazel?
31:34Well, I was in the Royal Navy.
31:36Yes.
31:36And we became pen friends.
31:38Yes.
31:38And after several months, we finally met at the local pub in Hazel's village.
31:43Yeah.
31:43And during the course of the evening, well, by the end of the evening, I proposed.
31:48No.
31:48Yeah.
31:49So you, you know, pushed the boat out and started.
31:51And after that, it was plain sailing.
31:53Yeah.
31:54Full steam ahead.
31:56What happened after that, Mr Scott?
31:57Well, we went to Norfolk for our honeymoon.
32:01Yes, yes.
32:02But I'm afraid we had to cut that rather short.
32:05It wasn't a headache Hazel had.
32:06It was a raging toothache.
32:08Oh, no.
32:09What was wrong, then?
32:10An abscess.
32:11An abscess?
32:12Well, that shouldn't make any difference on a honeymoon.
32:14Abscess.
32:15Abscess makes the heart go throbbing.
32:18All right, all right.
32:21I will come, we can't do that.
32:22Now, being an ex-sailor, you know, have you, I suppose you've travelled an awful lot.
32:26Yeah, quite a bit.
32:27We, um, I actually moved house 24 times in our first 17 years of marriage.
32:32You moved house 24 times in 17 years?
32:35God, I love it.
32:36But I bet Reader's Digest still found you.
32:38Thank you for being here, Derek and Sandy.
32:48We've got a game coming up now.
32:50Lovely people are going.
32:51Here we are.
32:52High five.
32:52High five.
32:54Yeah.
32:55In fact, all of you, go and get yourselves ready.
32:58Go and get yourselves ready.
32:59Go on.
32:59Our third game is called Scottish Karaoke.
33:02Now, as it was St. Andrew's Day last Wednesday, and as I happen to be Bruce, for safe, we thought
33:10it would be appropriate that we sang a Scottish song.
33:14So, okay, all of you, come on back.
33:17That's it.
33:17Nice and quick.
33:20Over here.
33:21Over here.
33:21Let me get in the middle.
33:22Hold on.
33:23There's your mark there.
33:24The yellow mark there.
33:25You're one there.
33:26Now, you'll go down the line.
33:28One at a time, you're going to do this.
33:30So, the accent is very important, and plenty of movement, Scottish movement, as only they
33:35can do.
33:35Okay?
33:36Thank you very much.
33:37Cue music.
33:45I love a lassie, a boy, a boy, a lassie.
33:49She's a girl, a girl, a girl in the bale.
33:53She's a sweet type of heather, the bonnie purple heather.
33:57Mary, my sister's good girl.
34:01I love a lassie, a bonnie, bonnie lassie.
34:05She's a girl, a little in the dine.
34:08She's a sweet type of heather, the bonnie purple heather.
34:11She's a very hard story.
34:14Everybody dance.
34:16Dance.
34:17All right.
34:17Come on, everybody.
34:21Get back to your marks.
34:26Get back to your marks.
34:28Just one line each, one line each.
34:30Here we go.
34:31Right.
34:31I love a lassie, a bonnie, bonnie lassie.
34:35She's a pure-assie lady in the dine.
34:38She's a pretty type of heather, the bonnie purple heather.
34:42Mary, my sister.
34:44Mary, my sister's good girl, yes.
34:46Mary, my sister's good girl.
34:50I knew this would be a good girl.
34:53Oh, come here.
34:56Not one of you.
34:57Not the tune.
34:59God dear.
35:00Now to judge this, and good luck to her.
35:04We have from GMTV, their bonnie broadcaster.
35:08How she's going to sort this out, I'll never know.
35:10Lorraine Kelly.
35:12Yes.
35:21A proud nation humbled.
35:23A great nation has been humbled.
35:26I mean, not only the silly hats and all this, but the accents and everything.
35:31That's terrible.
35:33It's really awful.
35:34Anyway, what do you think?
35:35Well, Bill, what have you got up your kilt?
35:38Because you were looking around, I think there was ants up there or something.
35:41I think there are.
35:42But you tried.
35:43You tried, Bill.
35:43You tried very hard.
35:44Sarah, a wee bit flat.
35:46Yeah.
35:46Just a wee, a wee tiny bit flat.
35:49You do see the hat.
35:50It's, it's, um...
35:51Yeah, the hat looked good.
35:52Well, Sandy, you tried.
35:54What can I say?
35:55I mean, I sing that song to my wee girl.
35:57Oh, do you really?
35:58Yeah.
35:59Oh.
35:59I won't again, I don't think.
36:00No.
36:02No, it's cured you for life.
36:05Derek, that hat really suits you.
36:07Yeah, you should, yeah.
36:08You, you tried, no, they all really tried.
36:10They really tried, but it wasn't their kind of a game.
36:13No, and I can't really separate them.
36:15It was difficult to separate them.
36:17Difficult to separate.
36:17So, as far as points go, I think I'm going to have to be very generous.
36:22Yes.
36:22And give them all five.
36:24All of them five?
36:25That's the only way out, Lorraine.
36:28The only way out.
36:29Give them all five.
36:32Yes.
36:33Well, thank you, my God.
36:34How's the wee girl?
36:35She's lovely.
36:35Oh, she's lovely.

37:10Our fourth game is called Animal Noises.
37:14Gentlemen, you will hear some animal noises.
37:17All you have to do is mime to your partner what you think that animal is.
37:22Ladies, all you have to do is write down what animal you think your partner is mimeing.
37:28It's as simple or as difficult as that.
37:31Okay?
37:31Ladies to your lecterns, gentlemen to your performance areas.
37:35Okay?
37:36Get over there.
37:37You're fine.
37:39Get in there and stay in those areas if you can.
37:41Now, on with your headphones.
37:43And let's make sure you can't hear anything.
37:46Can you hear anything at all?
37:47Is she okay over there, Rosie?
37:48Can you hear me?
37:48No.
37:49Sandy, all right?
37:50Good.
37:52Can you hear anything she says, no?

41:06Okay, mime that.
41:07And you mime this as well.
41:09Okay?
41:10You'll both be miming the same thing.
41:12So, both mime it and see if you can get this.

50:53I nearly said that the Jeff Knackered Dancers!
50:57As I am!
50:58Could we have the other couple back, just to keep me upright?
51:02And now then, well done, all of you.
51:04You're such wonderful sports.
51:05And to judge this, we have an actress who has brought some wonderful comic characters to our screens.
51:10The marvellous Sue Pollard!
51:20Thank you for coming here.
51:22I wouldn't have missed it!
51:24I've been watching it every weekend and thinking, oh, I don't know how they do it to these contestants.
51:27You are all so fabulous!
51:29Weren't they marvellous?
51:30They were really lovely.
51:31Anybody that does this, great sport.
51:32Yes, yes, yes.
51:33But I'm afraid they've got to come now, haven't we, to the market.
51:35Yes.
51:36First, a few comments over here.
51:37Maybe we have our first couple you saw.
51:38You look fabulous.
51:39I don't know what you're wearing in your head, Maureen, but it's absolutely fantastic.
51:43Both look like wasps.
51:44Lovely.
51:46Now, Carl, I think you'll agree, you seem to have trouble.
51:51Oh, no!
51:52That's the other one!
51:54No, Carl, Carl was fabulous.
51:58What are you doing Saturday night, half past seven?
52:00You were fabulous.
52:01I thought you were very, very good.
52:02You had a lot of co-ordination.
52:04Maureen, you were small but I thought highly talented.
52:07You had a beautiful smile and lovely bloomers.
52:11And, um...
52:13Sarah, you had fantastic leg extensions.
52:17Yes, she did, didn't she?
52:18Oh, hello!
52:19I thought that was mega good.
52:21Hello, the camera crew needed a bit on strike.
52:23Hello, darling.
52:24Hello, darling.
52:25And Bill...
52:27Well, he had no co-ordination whatsoever.
52:29You're not going to be any threat to the theatrical profession.
52:32Well, sorry, having said that, you smiled a lot.
52:37And both of you were so good.
52:39Taking into consideration, Maureen, I hope you don't think I'm being rude.
52:42No.
52:43Your age is not exactly like Sarah's.
52:45No.
52:46I think you were absolutely stunningly good.
52:48Really, really excellent.
52:49Yeah, I can make for that.
52:50I can make for that, actually.
52:53Having said that, we can't take away from Sarah.
52:57She was really, really excellent.
52:58Yeah, I know, I know.
52:59And it's so hard.
53:00And in view of what I've just said, which I hope you understood.
53:02Yes.
53:03Very difficult.
53:04Very difficult.
53:05Would you like us to do the routine again?
53:06Yeah.
53:07I'd like to be in it.
53:09Yeah, look.
53:10I think 19 each.
53:12Oh, that's good.
53:15I could take it into consideration.
53:17And Tara was a little bit more coordinated, wasn't it?
53:20Yes, a little bit more coordinated.
53:21Well, those are very, very good reasons, my darling.
53:23And it's lovely to see you.
53:24Now, it's all right.
53:25You can put that away now, the bare bit.
53:26Oh, I forgot to tell you.
53:27What?
53:28Daddy.
53:29Daddy, what do you mean?
53:32Daddy.
53:33Get off.
53:34All right.
53:35Don't you start.
53:36Now, listen.
53:37What do you want to do next, my darling?
53:40I thought you'd never ask.
53:42That's what I've come for.
53:43Why did you really come here?
53:44I've come here to say that I'm appearing up the Beanstalk.
53:47Oh, yes.
53:48I shall be Jack.
53:49Yes.
53:50In the wonderful performance at the Hippodrome Birmingham.
53:53Oh, wonderful.
53:54You've got to come.
53:55All the seats reasonably priced.
53:57It's a great day.
53:58Well, you've got a full house there for a start, but anyway.
54:01Oh, you've got to come.
54:02Where are you?
54:03Good luck for the pentamide.
54:04You'll be dead, won't you?
54:05I'll be in.
54:06You won't be doing that.
54:07You'll be dead.
54:08But anyway, Sue, it's always lovely to see you.
54:12I've really enjoyed it.
54:13And we miss you on television at the moment.
54:15We need somebody to make us laugh the way you did.
54:17Because I'll be coming back in May.
54:19Oh, no.
54:20I can't tell you what.
54:21All right.
54:22It's a secret, but we'll see you in May on television.
54:24Sue Pollard.
54:25We thank you.
54:26You're ready to ask.
54:27Come on, darling.
54:29You look at that.
54:31And I think that was fair.
54:33Do you agree with that?
54:34I think so.
54:35Because taking all things into consideration, face the front.
54:39Face the front there.
54:40All of you face the front.
54:41It is a tiebreaker.
54:42The first one to answer the question will win.
54:45But think before you speak.
54:47Because if you're wrong, I can then put it to the other couple.
54:50So do think.
54:51Here we go.
54:52What colours are the leather seats in the House of Commons?
54:56Green.
54:57Green.
54:58Yes.
54:59Green, you were right.
55:00You were right there.
55:01Well done.

55:07Well, Maureen.
55:08We're so sorry to live.
55:10We'll know there's a loser tonight, because you have been so marvellous.
55:13And it was level pegging.
55:14But you will get a generation game telephone answer machine for both of you.
55:18And a pocket colour television.
55:20Thank you so much.
55:21We'll have a little drink afterwards.

55:38Take the doors away, please.
55:40Lots of articles are going to pass before your eyes.
