Today's contestants are Brian & Melody Lye from Suffolk, Mel Smith (no, not that one) & Julie Hodge from Gwent, Doris & Colin Picknell from the West Midlands, and Ann & Jon Fisher from Hampshire. Bruce Forsyth hosts, but not before an apology at the start for a crucial gaffe in last week's tiebreaker. As it is, assistant Rosemary Ford tries to trick him out of the way so she can sing one of her songs, while Brucie complains about the cold snap and the flu going about, which has also affected a few of the contestants. Most mention wedding mishap stories, but easily the best of the contestants is Doris Picknell, who proves a dream contestant for Brucie and his quips. Among the games are "Indian Hoops" (which descends into chaos when the contestants are told to create their own patterns - you'll know what I mean when you see it), "Pot Luck" (involving teapots), "Mime a Dance" and "Sweeping Willows" (cricket bat making) before the final two contestants compete in a Silent Drill with the youth cadets. There is yet another tiebreaker during the show, but will it prove as crucial as it was last week?

00:00When anything goes wrong, everybody finds out about it.
00:05And that's what happened to us last week.
00:07Now, the tiebreaker question at the end of the grand final was,
00:11what is the capital of Canada?
00:14Now, the answer was Ottawa, not Ontario.
00:18But thank you for all your phone calls.
00:21And our apologies to Jill and Matthew, and to make it up to them,
00:25we're going to give them a duplicate set of prizes,
00:27and for the rest of you, the phone calls, you'll have to pay for them yourselves.
00:33So on with this week's show, and look out for the deliberate mistake.
00:39Life is the name of the game, and I want to play the game with you.
00:47Life can be terribly tame, if you don't play the game with two.
00:54And I want to play the game with you.
00:57It's Nima.
01:11Thank you so much.
01:14Thank you, good evening.
01:17Good evening, ladies, gentlemen, and children.
01:19Welcome to the Generation Game.
01:20Nice to see you, to see you...
01:22But I don't feel too good.
01:25No, please, please, no.
01:28It's the beginning of all this cold weather we're starting to have, you know.
01:32There's a touch of winter about in the air.
01:34I could feel it this morning when I went out to bring the milk in
01:37off my next-door neighbour's step.
01:43I just had those night storage heaters put in.
01:45They're very good.
01:46The only trouble is they take up so much of the bed.
01:48I can't stand the cold weather, you see.
01:55I mean, last night, I tried to liven up the fire, so I gave it a good poke, you know.
02:00It's a stupid thing to do.
02:01It's electric.
02:04But there's someone with an electric personality here tonight.
02:08No, not me.
02:09Fully charged, always positive, negative.
02:13The gorgeous, the lovely, Miss Rosemary Ford.
02:24But, uh, elegant.
02:29Elegant?
02:30I just said that.
02:31Oh.
02:32What do you mean by elegant?
02:34I mean, I watched you walk on, and it was sheer.
02:36Elegant.
02:37Oh, Bruce, do you know that's the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me?
02:41That's the nicest thing that's anyone's said to you?
02:43I just said that.
02:46Are we using the right cameras?
02:50It is me, is it my turn?
02:51Right.
02:54You have what's known as a star's walk.
02:57A star's walk?
02:58I think we're back on track now, yes.
03:00Every big star, and I mean a big star, has his or her own walk.
03:05Well, do you know, Bruce, I have to say that you must have the most famous walk in the business.
03:11Really?
03:12Well, yes, I'll tell you what.
03:13Just walk off, and then, you know, walk back on again.
03:15With my legs?
03:16Well, I should take them with you, yes.
03:18Go on, off you go.
03:19Right, OK.
03:20OK?
03:21OK.
03:21Right.
03:22From here?
03:23Oh, no, no, no, further off.
03:24Go on, further off.
03:25Further off?
03:25Yeah, that's it.
03:26OK, right.
03:26How's this?
03:29No, no, no, further back, so I mean that we can really see you, sort of, like, how a star
03:34really walks on.
03:36This must be far enough, I am outside the building.
03:40Good, because I'd like to now sing you a song from my album.
03:45It's called Miss You Like Crazy.
03:47Take it away, maestro.
03:48You think I'm stupid?
03:57Do you think I'll leave you out here for two seconds on your own?
04:00You show stealer, you.
04:02Take it away, maestro.
04:04You'll be taken away in a van if you're not careful.
04:07Just introduce the contestants.
04:08That's your job, missy.
04:10All right, I will do it.
04:10Right.
04:11OK, right.
04:11New case.
04:12Our first team's from Suffolk.
04:14Their father and daughter, Brian and Medley, lie.
04:18Medley.
04:26She's not a Medley.
04:28She's not a Medley, she's only one of her.
04:30Lovely name right there.
04:32Never mind, no matter.
04:33You are Melody.
04:35Yes, that's correct.
04:35It's a beautiful, beautiful name.
04:36I love the word.
04:37And what do you do, dear?
04:38I'm a mobile beauty therapist.
04:40Does that mean if I flagged you down, would you give me an instant beauty hint?
04:45Yes, definitely.
04:46You put a mud mask on and actually leave it on.
04:51Well, that's a nice start to the year.
04:54Are you married?
04:55No.
04:55That figures.
05:01I'm going to give myself two for that.
05:02Right.
05:03No, but you've got a boyfriend?
05:04Yes, called Jason.
05:05Oh, it's Jason.
05:06Jason.
05:06Jason, right, Jason, right, Jason, right, Jason, right, Jason, right, Jason, right, Jason.
05:11Do you get on with his parents all right?
05:13I do now, but when I first met them, they were watching the television.
05:17Yes.
05:17And when the adverts come on, I started singing to them because I was a little bit nervous.
05:21And they thought I was totally mad after that.
05:23Oh, because you sang along with the commercials?
05:25Well, show us.
05:26I mean, what did you do?
05:27Well, all the different ones.
05:29I had sort of like the club biscuit one.
05:30Yeah, do that for us then.
05:31Do that.
05:32If you like a lot of chocolate on your biscuit, join our club.
05:37Oh, yeah.
05:41You do them all, do you?
05:42Do another one.
05:43Oh, yeah.
05:43Would you like me to do the finger of fudge, yeah?
05:45Oh, exactly.
05:46Yes.
05:46Yes, guys, yes, I can't wait for this.
05:55A finger of fudge is just enough to give your kids a treat.
05:59A finger of fudge is just enough until it's time to eat.
06:03It's one of my very goodness and they are small and neat.
06:07A finger of fudge is just enough until it's time to eat.
06:10Very good.
06:11Now, it's very good.
06:13Well, let's cut.
06:17Well, with a voice like that, I don't know how your first name could be Melody.
06:25That's it.
06:25It's a good start we've got off today.
06:27Right now, over to your father, Brian.
06:28What do you do, Brian?
06:29I'm a plumber.
06:29Oh, you're a plumber?
06:30Oh, so you got her on the right day.
06:36But you forgot your tools, I bet.
06:38I bet you forgot your tools.
06:39I had a fume with you.
06:39Oh, you had a fume with you.
06:40Now, you're married to Rosemary.
06:42Tell us about the proposal.
06:43Well, on the night that I proposed to her,
06:45she told me she'd had two proposals that night.
06:48Yeah.
06:48One from an ex-boyfriend.
06:49Yeah.
06:50But she chose me because he was drunk and I wasn't.
06:52Well, you see, she was probably being safe.
06:56She knew that when you get involved with a plumber,
06:58you should always get two estimates.
07:02I thought they might get a round of applause.
07:04Well, they're not from you.
07:07Oh.
07:07Well, you're stars now.
07:09Right.
07:09Now then, you look as though you're like a good laugh.
07:11Who's your favourite?
07:12Oh, Will Hay.
07:13Oh, do you usually like Will Hay?
07:14Will Hay.
07:15Do you know, he was one of my favourites.
07:17And, you know, in next week's show,
07:19I'm doing an impression of Will Hay.
07:21Do you mind having a little rehearsal?
07:22Well, I'm interviewing you.
07:23Yeah.
07:24Right.
07:25Right.
07:25Now, er...
07:26Oh, all right then.
07:30So that you were once asked to help a very large lady
07:35who was wedged on the loom.
07:37Yeah, the husband had put his bowler hat on her lap
07:42to hide, to cover her embarrassment.
07:44Really.
07:45So while she was blushing, you were flushes.
07:51By the way, any young people looking in at that,
07:53it was the dead spit of it.
07:56Thank you very much for being here, Brian.
07:58Thank you, Melody.
07:59Nice people.
08:00Oh, very good, very good.
08:03Yeah.
08:04How many have you got now?
08:06Our second team's from Gwent.
08:08They're uncle and niece, Mel Smith and Julie Hodge.
08:19How are you, all right?
08:20Good.
08:21Welcome.
08:21Well, welcome.
08:22Let's see, you are Julie...
08:23Hodge.
08:24Hodge.
08:24And what do you do?
08:26Doctor's receptionist.
08:27I see you.
08:27And you're married to Gareth.
08:29Tell us about the wedding night.
08:30All right, then, my darling.
08:31Oh, it's quite exciting.
08:32Quite exciting.
08:34After the wedding, all the guests plastered our car in rice, kippers, eggs, everything.
08:40Oh, they're not.
08:41It's really messy.
08:41Oh, yeah.
08:42And dirty words.
08:43Oh, really?
08:44Dirty words.
08:45Oh, my wedding's all.
08:45Yes, go on.
08:47And, um, so anyway, I was in the wedding bed that night with my sexy negligee on.
08:51In your wedding?
08:52In the wedding bed?
08:53Yeah.
08:53Oh, you're all...
08:53Oh, you're all...
08:54Yes, yes, yes.
08:54A sexy night here.
08:56Oh, my hair done.
08:57Yes.
08:57Nails done.
08:58Oh, yeah.
08:59Pouting lips.
09:00Pouting lips.
09:00Pouting lips.
09:01I think we've all got the picture.
09:05The memories are coming back.
09:07Yeah, I know the memories are coming back.
09:08Do you want to go home quick?
09:12So, anyway, so I was there lying to the bed.
09:14Oh, you're all ready.
09:15All ready for him, yeah.
09:16Yeah, yeah.
09:17And a shout come out from outside.
09:19Oh, sorry, love, I'd better clean the car first.
09:21So, he went and polished the car.
09:26Instead of coming back.
09:27And at the same time, he was rubbing you up the wrong way.
09:30So, you gave him a good leather in, I do agree.
09:33Now then, have you any special talents?
09:35Yes, I can do a bit of gurney.
09:37A gurney?
09:38Yeah.
09:38Oh, really?
09:39But I've got my own teeth.
09:40I can do it with my teeth, you know.
09:41Oh, yes.
09:42Yeah.
09:42No, you don't want to bore anybody else's?
09:44No.
09:44No.
09:44Very good.
09:53It was very good.
09:57I did hear as well, the best one you do is the elephant man.
10:01Oh, my God.
10:01Yeah, you do the elephant man, but you forgot to bring your trunk with you.
10:05We'll now go over to Uncle Mel.
10:07That's right.
10:08Mel Smith.
10:09Mel Smith, yes.
10:10And you're married to Mary.
10:11Where did you meet Mary?
10:12In a dance hall.
10:13Oh, yes, good.
10:14So what happened?
10:15And then I took a home.
10:16Yeah.
10:16Missed the last bus from the long kiss.
10:18Yes.
10:18And, uh...
10:19What did you meet?
10:19The what?
10:21Yeah, we used to have long kisses, you see.
10:22Oh, I see.
10:23Very, very long kisses.
10:24Very long kisses.
10:25So that's why you missed the bus?
10:26That's why you missed the bus.
10:26Oh, I see.
10:27I tried to walk five miles home.
10:28So you missed the double-decker because of the double-pecker?
10:30What?
10:33Right.
10:34Tell us about the wedding night, then.
10:38The wedding night.
10:39Yes.
10:39Well, we were just getting ready for bed.
10:42Yes.
10:42Just going to work.
10:43It was late.
10:43Six o'clock in the evening.
10:44Yeah.
10:45When...
10:45When...
10:46Six o'clock in the evening?
10:49It was late.
10:50It was late.
10:50So you're in bed?
10:51Yeah, you're in bed.
10:51No, no.
10:52We haven't got the bed yet.
10:53You haven't got the bed?
10:54No, we were just going to bed when my grandfather came down and asked me if he wants some steel
10:59to warm us up.
11:00Yes.
11:00So what did you say?
11:04Well, don't worry.
11:05Don't worry.
11:05We're just going to have a basin for her.
11:06Yeah.
11:09Thank you very much.
11:10There's a game coming up.
11:11Lovely.
11:11And nice to have you with us.
11:13Nice to...
11:13Well, now, before our first game, I'd just like to remind you that our contestants have
11:21no idea what we have planned for them.
11:23They do not rehearse.
11:24This is your rehearsal.
11:26All right.
11:26Our first game is called Indian Hoops.
11:29Please welcome, from Family American West, Alan Blackhorse Hull.
11:34APPLAUSE
11:36I'd love to go by as she managed to white boy out of my G-Doo.
11:52Mini-couche and Luigi walk up a gosh in the mile with my G-Doo.
11:58Ah, eh, eh, oh, look, go, eh.
12:01Eh, eh, oh, look, go, eh.
12:04Eh, eh, oh, look, go, eh.
12:06I got no tip of our shin and it's a white fire on a party do
12:14Pretty, pretty sherry on the beachy one
12:16Up a crash in a mile on a party do
12:19Thank you. Thank you, Black Horse Hull.
12:34Me, Bruce, Walk Horse, Forsyth.
12:39And the singing was provided by Alan's wife, Sammy over there, and his daughter, Kistina.
12:45There we are, we thank you.
12:49Now Alan, show us how you go from one thing to the other.
12:55And watch this very, very carefully, okay?
12:57You put your left foot into the whole hoop, you put your right foot between the first and the second hoop.
13:01That's it.
13:02That's your start position.
13:03That's your start.
13:04You put your right foot into the fourth hoop.
13:06Then we go into a baby walker.
13:08Oh, baby walker, that's good, yeah.
13:10Then we make ourselves a flower, Pat.
13:12A flower, very pretty flower.
13:13Yeah.
13:14Then make ourselves another one.
13:16Another flower, yeah.
13:17Now we get tricky.
13:18We step through the hoops.
13:20Yes.
13:21Make ourselves a butterfly.
13:22Butterfly, thank you.
13:24Well done.
13:25Yeah.
13:26Well done.
13:27You can, of course, actually go through the hoops.
13:29Ah.
13:30Make ourselves a shape of the world.
13:31Yes, yes, yes.
13:32Then you can get out through that thing.
13:34Yeah.
13:35And if we're real lucky.
13:36Yeah.
13:37As we come out through the hoops, provide them to remember to press down one hoop real good.
13:43If we're really lucky about this.
13:45You have to go.
13:46That's in the world.
13:47That's in the world.
13:48That's in the world.
13:49That's in the world.
13:50Right.
13:51First couple over.
13:52You can make sure you're in the right position to start with.
13:55Okay.
13:56Three hoops in your left hand.
13:57Three hoops in your left, that's it.
13:58And you put your left foot to the three hoops.
13:59Through.
14:00Right through, that's good.
14:01Put your right foot between first and second hoop.
14:03First and second hoop.
14:04Let me help you down.
14:05That's it.
14:06And from there they should be okay.
14:07They should be okay.
14:08But, lovely.
14:09Will you come back and do some marks?
14:10I certainly will.
14:11Thank you very much.
14:12Now get to your marks here.
14:13You get about 20 seconds the pair of you to create.
14:16You're going to create your own Indian dance.
14:19You do it?
14:20Now when you hear this sound.
14:22Stop.
14:23And then try and make a globe.
14:25As quick as you can.
14:26Alright?
14:27That's all there is to it.
14:28Here we have Indian hoops take two.
14:32Try and make a globe.
14:45Try and make a globe.
14:46Try and make a globe.
14:47Get out of it first.
14:49Try and get out of it first.
14:50Try and get out of it first.
14:51Okay.
14:52One, two, three.
14:53Let go.
14:54Alright.
14:55Never mind.
14:56Take a moment there, will you?
14:57Take a moment there, all right.
14:58On you come.
14:59Oh, that's lovely.
15:00Okay.
15:01Okay.
15:02Oh, that's lovely.
15:03Okay.
15:04Okay.
15:05Oh, that's lovely.
15:06Okay.
15:07Now just, you're going to have 20 seconds here on that yellow mark there.
15:22Here we go then with Indian hoops take three.
15:26Oh, get it round you.
15:27Get it round your body.
15:28Move it round you.
15:33Trying to make a world.
15:52Try and make a world, try and make a world, see if you can balance it, right, one, two, three, go!
16:06Bad luck, bad luck, you need to get them over there and come back here if you will, lovely and lovely,
16:11and once again our thanks to Sammy and Kistina over there, lovely, very good.
16:17Come back Alan and do some marketing please.
16:22Well now our first couple, what did you think our first couple over here?
16:29Well Brian, he did two excellent patterns, he kept a good beat, very impressed, Melody, I was amazed.
16:36She moved through the hoops extremely well and it was difficult to judge between the two,
16:41but I figured that she had to get eight points and Brian had to get seven.
16:44Good, good, good, high mark, 87, yes, now how about over here?
16:50Julie, I don't know whether she realised it, but she actually created an Indian warrior, a traditional warrior with a shield and a lance.
16:56Did she?
16:57Absolutely.
16:58Absolutely.
17:03Absolutely.
17:04You've got great imagination.
17:07Well, it looked absolutely fabulous.
17:09Pity these in phrase.
17:12It's gone.
17:13In the end, what I decided, I gave Mel six because she was accurate but slow.
17:18Yes.
17:19But Julie, I had to give a nine.
17:20A nine.
17:21Oh, well done.
17:22Well done.
17:23Well, thank you so much.
17:24And love to you Alan and your family and thank you for giving us Indian hoops.
17:29We'll never forget it.
17:31There we are.
17:32Away you go there.
17:33Lovely, lovely, lovely.
17:35So what's on the board, Miss Hold?
17:36Well, Brian and Melody have 15.
17:39Julie and Mel also have 15.
17:41Well, that's marvellous.
17:42You're level pegging, so over there you go if you will.
17:44Sit down and relax.
17:45And our second game is called Potluck.
17:48But first of all, feast your eyes on these.
17:51Aren't they absolutely fabulous?
17:53Now, the one teapot we're concentrating on is the one in the middle.
17:58Now, let's meet the clever lady who made all these from Cardew Designs.
18:03Please welcome Dawn Mogford.
18:13Is it Mogford or Mogford?
18:15Mogford.
18:16Mogford.
18:17Mogford.
18:18Yes, I see.
18:19Like Rosemary Ford.
18:20That's right.
18:21And all that.
18:22Now, Cardew Designs, is that in what part of?
18:23Woodbury in Devon.
18:24Oh, in Devon.
18:25A lovely path.
18:26Give our love to everybody there.
18:27I love it.
18:28And if you just come round here, you next to me, and you come round and Julie next to
18:32me, fine, so that you can see exactly what's going on.
18:34To see how this wonderful teapot is made.
18:37Use the liquid slip.
18:38Ah.
18:39And a little bit of water.
18:40See, liquid slip.
18:41A little bit of water.
18:42And just...
18:43Do the feet first.
18:44There we are.
18:45All right.
18:46Don't worry about all the drips.
18:47You can tidy it up after.
18:48Yep.
18:49Tip it up.
18:50Yep.
18:51There we go.
18:52Stick the handle on.
18:53There we are.
18:54There we are.
18:55Yep.
18:56Okay.
18:57A bit of a patch.
18:58I hadn't seen a teapot this design before, did you?
18:59So.
19:00It really is lovely.
19:01Turn it around.
19:02Spout next.
19:03This is the tricky part, this one.
19:04That's nice.
19:05All right.
19:06My little boy loves playing teapot.
19:07Brings his friends round, you know.
19:08They all have a little teapot.
19:09And little cups.
19:10Then go for the control knobs then.
19:11Yes.
19:12That's pretty amazing.
19:13That's amazing.
19:14I do love surprises.
19:15That's amazing.
19:16Then take one.
19:17That's nice.
19:18Nice.
19:19Alright.
19:20My little boy loves playing teapot.
19:21Brings his friends round, you know.
19:22They all have a little teapot.
19:23And little cups.
19:24Then go for the control knobs then.
19:25Yes.
19:26So pretty, isn't it?
19:27He'd love one of those.
19:30I think you're having one after the show.
19:33Oh, no, you shouldn't.
19:36That's amazing.
19:38Although I do love surprises.
19:41Then to finish off, you do the lid.
19:44Ah, the lid. It's very tricky, that.
19:46See? It's the top of the little oven.
19:51Wipe all the drips off.
19:52That's it.
19:52And place the lid on the top.
19:54Isn't that beautiful?
19:55And when that's fired, you fire that for about how long?
19:58It takes eight hours to go up and eight hours to come down.
20:01Eight hours to go up and eight hours to come down.
20:02And then temperatures to come down.
20:03Same as me.
20:08It's really, very, very beautiful.
20:10Will you come back, Dawn?
20:11I will.
20:12Come out here and do some marking for us later on.
20:15I won't do.
20:15See you in a minute.
20:16OK.
20:16Get to your table and put your pillows on.
20:21Don't sit down.
20:23Now you've got about one and a half minutes to make your teapot,
20:26starting from now.
20:29OK.
20:29So try and remember in what order Dawn did it.
20:34And try to get as much on as you can.
20:44There you've all got off to a good start by the look of you.
20:47That's lovely.
20:50What are you looking for, though?
20:51The knobs.
20:52Oh, the knobs.
20:52Are you going to put the knobs on?
20:54Right.
20:55That's it.
20:55Stick your knobs on where you think they go.
20:57You've no idea where they go, do you?
21:00I don't know.
21:00I don't know.
21:00I don't know.
21:03Put one there.
21:05Put one there, yeah.
21:06It looks like a wart.
21:10Yes, well, you're certainly getting everything on, dear, aren't you?
21:19Have you got a crane?
21:22Where's your spout?
21:23Yes, yes.
21:24Well, get your spout in there somewhere.
21:27OK, hold on, hold on.
21:28OK, just put it in there for now.
21:30You were going to put it there, were you?
21:31No, I didn't put it in front.
21:32No, you weren't.
21:33You were going to put it in there.
21:34Don't give me all that.
21:36Right.
21:37OK.
21:37John, will you come back and do some marking, please?
21:44We'll get to the end here.
21:46Now, Brian, isn't it?
21:49Brian, this is quite good, isn't it?
21:51Well, he's stuck on every single component by the little bit.
21:56Everything is on.
21:57The handle's upside down.
21:58Oh, what a shame, is it?
21:59The door's on back to front and upside down.
22:01The door's on back to front, but all the little knobs are there.
22:04Yeah, I'll give that six.
22:05Six?
22:06Right, OK.
22:08Six of that.
22:09Now, you've got to see the other side of this.
22:11Look at that.
22:12See, you couldn't see that.
22:16Could you?
22:17You couldn't see that.
22:18I could see.
22:19See, it's there.
22:19Oh, not a bad effort.
22:21Look at that.
22:23Tragedy.
22:23Tragedy.
22:24Absolute tragedy.
22:26But she got her spout on.
22:29So, what do you think?
22:30Three.
22:31Three.
22:31Oh, three.
22:32Just don't do that.
22:33Oh.
22:34Very lucky.
22:35Got your card of a game.
22:37And now, here we are.
22:38This is...
22:39Oh!
22:39No, it was on.
22:41It was on, yes.
22:42On the wrong side.
22:43I just happened to...
22:44Yeah, I just happened to feel my hand brush by it.
22:46That's right.
22:47And the door is here, but it should be here.
22:49Yeah, the door's in the wrong place.
22:50And the knob should be here.
22:51And this shouldn't be on here, should it?
22:52No, it shouldn't.
22:53It should be here.
22:53Yeah, I knew it shouldn't be on here.
22:55Right.
22:57OK, so what do you think?
22:58Four.
22:59Four.
22:59Just four.
23:00Only a little bit better.
23:04Now, who's going to put this in here, look?
23:07I think that's where the teabag goes.
23:09That's where the teabag goes.
23:11Legs are nice and strong.
23:12Very, very good.
23:12And it's very sturdy.
23:13Yeah, that is good.
23:14Nobs.
23:15I don't know what they're doing on the back.
23:16Yeah.
23:17They're putting them on the front.
23:17Look at all these knobs around the back of the other.
23:19So you have to go around there, switch it on, then rush around the side.
23:24That's a big waste of time.
23:25But very cleanly done, what Lee has put on, five.
23:27All right, well, there we are.
23:29Well done, Mel.
23:29Five.
23:30And do give your love to everybody, which is hard to design.
23:35And Dawn, thank you for being with us.
23:36Give our love to Devon.
23:37Bye.
23:37OK?
23:38And I thank you for being so welcome.
23:41I thank you for being so welcome.
23:43All of your welcome.
23:45Welcome to Devon.
23:47Welcome aboard, Miss Ford.
23:50Brian and Melody have 24.
23:52Julie and Mel also have 24.
23:54A tiebreaker.
23:56Oh!
23:57A tiebreaker.
23:58Now, the first one who answers this correctly will win.
24:02What is the world's largest ocean?
24:06Pacific.
24:07Yes.
24:08Well done.
24:08Well done, Brian.
24:10That's it.
24:11Well done, indeed.
24:13All right.
24:13Well, we're sorry to lose you.
24:15What a great thing.
24:16Anyway, you will be getting a Generation Game telephone to each of you.
24:20And thank you very much for being such an important part of it.
24:22And we're very, very sorry to lose you.
24:24All right.
24:25Off you go there.
24:26And you two will be seeing you in a great moment of your life.
24:31Say well done out there.
24:32Who have you gotten less, Rosie?
24:34Right.
24:34Our third teams from the West Midlands.
24:37Their mother and son, Doris and Colin Picknell.
24:40You are Doris.
24:53Picknell.
24:54I see.
24:54And you're married to Fred.
24:55Yeah.
24:56Tell us about the wedding.
24:57Oh, you're a bit like me, darling.
25:00I got it on Friday.
25:01You got it on Friday?
25:02I got it on Wednesday.
25:03So it wasn't me, was it?
25:03I mean, we only met today.
25:12Oh, you have yours.
25:13Oh, I know.
25:14It's bad, isn't it?
25:15Won't go away.
25:16Come on, away you go.
25:17Well, it was a disaster because I took a cramp at the altar.
25:21You know, when you're kneeling down.
25:23I thought you said you took a tramp to the altar.
25:26Tramp!
25:26Oh, s***.
25:27Tramp!
25:28See, what are you walking down the aisle with a tramp?
25:32No, you took it.
25:33A cramp!
25:33Some of these expressions, you took, you got the cramp.
25:35Yes.
25:36See, we get it.
25:36You took it.
25:37Right.
25:37I don't get the leg.
25:39You'll always get the cramp.
25:40I don't take it with me.
25:43Go away.
25:44Go away.
25:45Go away.
25:47Clear up.
25:48Right.
25:48So you took the cramp at the altar.
25:50So what did you do to it?
25:53Do you want to go somewhere?
25:54One second.
26:00Oh, don't.
26:01Hold on.
26:01We'll be all right.
26:02Take your time.
26:02Anyway, I...
26:03This will all be out anyway.
26:06Oh, our producer hates to see people enjoying themselves.
26:11Right.
26:11Yes, what?
26:12I was dying and the hero's a blessing, you know.
26:14So what did you keep doing with the cramp?
26:16I had to get shit up quick and shake my legs.
26:19So when you walked back up the aft,
26:21did they play the Willie Marsh or the Oaken Coke?
26:30Oh, Christy.
26:32Oh, dear.
26:33Oh, dear.
26:34It's made the flu feel a bit better, hasn't it?
26:36Now then, has Fred any irritating habits, my darling?
26:39Yeah, yes.
26:40What was that?
26:40He twitches his nose when he gets excited.
26:43He twitches his nose when he gets excited.
26:57How many children have you got?
26:58Six.
27:02Six?
27:02So he doesn't only twitch like a rabbit.
27:10Oh, look.
27:12You were Miss Ireland.
27:17Oh, dear.
27:18Oh, don't.
27:19I'll be glad when this is over.
27:21Right, you are Miss Ireland.
27:24You were, rather, Miss Ireland of 1977.
27:27No, 1947.
27:291947.
27:38And I was just trying to make you feel younger.
27:43Anyway.
27:44Oh, you're lovely, my darling.
27:46It's been lovely to talk to you.
27:47Oh, dear.
27:47Over now to your son, Colin.
27:49All right.
27:50You're married to Elaine.
27:51Tell us about the proposal.
27:53Well, I got engaged when I was 18.
27:55And I phoned up her mother for consent off her to get engaged.
28:01Anyway, I've been married for 12 years now.
28:04And I'm still waiting for a reply.
28:06No.
28:07You're joking.
28:08Are you serious?
28:09What's her name?
28:10Edna.
28:10Edna.
28:11Edna, for goodness sake.
28:14She's not here, thank God.
28:15I know she's not here.
28:16I'm talking to her at home.
28:17Oh.
28:22For goodness sake.
28:29That's my intimate contact.
28:31Edna, for goodness sake.
28:3312 years.
28:33How many children have you got?
28:34Three.
28:35They've got three blooming kids there.
28:37Doris, you gave your consent, didn't you?
28:41She'd give her consent to anything, anyway.
28:44Edna, just get your finger out.
28:46Right.
28:47Any ambitions at all?
28:48Yes, to talk to Rosemary and meet Rosemary about dancing, because my wife's a dancer.
28:54Oh, your wife's a dancer?
28:55And my oldest daughter.
28:56And your oldest daughter.
28:56And you'd like to have a word with her about that.
28:58Hey, Rosie, he'd like to just chat to you about some dancing.
29:01Oh, would you?
29:02Yeah, because his wife and daughter do.
29:03Oh, they go dancing, do they?
29:04They do, yes.
29:05They go to a local school?
29:06Yes, I enjoy tap dancing.
29:08Oh, they tap as well.
29:09Oh, I love tap dancing.
29:10What else do they do?
29:11Modern dancing, ballroom dancing.
29:13Do they really?
29:14Yeah, they really love it.
29:14And do they do an example or anything like that?
29:16Yeah, they took the silver, bronze, ballroom, ballroom.
29:20But when I was only 11, where that was, I don't know what you call it.
29:22I started to dance.
29:23You get all the dresses and everything has an expression, you know.
29:30We used to go along and down to Rosemary's and there's, like, loads of people there.
29:33I used to try it.
29:33I wish I could go back, actually, to my place in Leeds.
29:35I used to travel back and forth about five times a week, you know.
29:37Evidently, you do an impression of Donald Duck, don't you?
29:40My mum, my mum, my mum, my mum.
29:41Then will you tell Rosemary to shut up and introduce the last tape?
29:45Like that, they used to do with little tabloid scenes and things like that.
29:48I used to really, really enjoy it.
29:49Hey, what?
29:50What?
29:50Shut up.
29:52I get twigs.
29:53You get twigs.
29:54You get twigs.
29:54You get twigs.
30:07They're from Hampshire.
30:07They're mother and son, Anne and John Fisher.
30:10Right.
30:10You're Anne?
30:11Fisher.
30:12Fisher.
30:13And you're married to Jim Fisher.
30:14That's right.
30:15So you were a fisherman's friend.
30:16Oh, that's right.
30:17And where did you meet, or what did he use for bait?
30:18Well, well.
30:19I...
30:20My friend and I went to the, um, Royal Tournament, Adels Court.
30:21Yes.
30:22To find two hunky field gun crew sailors.
30:23Oh, that's right.
30:24Oh, that's right.
30:25Oh, that's right.
30:26Oh, that's right.
30:27And where did you meet, or what did he use for bait?
30:30Well, well.
30:31I...
30:32My friend and I went to the, um, Royal Tournament, Adels Court.
30:34Yes.
30:35To find two hunky field gun crew sailors.
30:37Oh, field gun crew.
30:38You were set on that.
30:39And we did.
30:40And we did.
30:41Oh, yeah.
30:42And they showed us to the best seats in the house.
30:43On their laps, I bet.
30:44Right.
30:45Now, what I want to know is, on the wedding night, being a member of a gun crew, did he
30:49dismantle you, and carry you over the threshold, and reassemble you on the other side?
30:54He definitely did.
30:55He did.
30:56You entered a mum's race at a holiday centre.
31:00What's all that about?
31:01I was much, much younger.
31:02Oh, yes.
31:03And the children said, come on, mum, do the running race.
31:05Yeah.
31:06So I gave it my all.
31:07Oh, yeah, yeah.
31:08I breasted the tape.
31:09Yeah.
31:10My sun top had come down.
31:11No.
31:12Oh, you're only third.
31:13Oh, so you didn't get the booby prize.
31:15How can two come in third?
31:18Anyway, look.
31:19Oh, yes.
31:22Now, you like ironing.
31:23Is that right?
31:24I do it.
31:25It's my favourite job.
31:26You love doing it.
31:27And I love to do it.
31:28No, listen.
31:29Because that's unusual, isn't it, ladies?
31:30Yes.
31:31All the ladies say, oh, I hate iron.
31:32So you like it.
31:33And it's even better if I can do other people's as well.
31:35No.
31:36You like to do other people's?
31:37Piles and piles of it.
31:38Right.
31:39It's my day.
31:40Can I have them back next Wednesday?
31:41Yes.
31:42Just a few shirts and a few items.
31:43And the undies?
31:44And the undies.
31:45And the undies, the locks in there.
31:46Right.
31:47Now, over to your son, John.
31:48You're married to Jane.
31:49Do you celebrate your anniversaries?
31:50Yeah, on the first anniversary, I'm a big romantic.
31:51I dressed up in a big six foot care bear outfit.
31:52Care bear?
31:53A big care bear, yeah.
31:54Big teddy bear.
31:55Yeah, yeah.
31:56Went to a place of work with a big bunch of flowers and stood outside her, a place of
31:57work, asking her to come down for a big bear hug.
31:58Oh.
31:59But the thing is, she came down and she actually recognised me and I still have my hat in my
32:03head on.
32:04And she still recognised me.
32:05Yeah, yeah.
32:06You know, and she still recognised me.
32:07And she's still recognised me.
32:08Oh, she probably saw you being a necessity.
32:09Now, what hobbies have you got?
32:10I like drawing cartoons.
32:11Oh, do you really?
32:12Yeah, I like scribbling away, yeah.
32:13Did you do a cartoon for the show?
32:14Yes, I'll draw one of you.
32:15You did?
32:16And Rosie, yeah.
32:17Oh, really?
32:18Well, let's have a look.
32:19I have a look.
32:20Oh.
32:21Okay.
32:22Now, go ahead.
32:23You can see also put a bit of your rainbow on the earth.
32:25In your room.
32:26Oh, do you really?
32:27Yeah?
32:28Yes.
32:29I'm in your room.
32:30Actually, you can see.

42:52No, no, don't take it off.
42:54No?
42:55What did you take it off for?
42:56Oh, you had a little bit on.
42:58OK, come back, Rose, and do some marking, will you?
43:06There you are.
43:08It's called a bad effort to start with.

43:32Yes, you shouldn't do that.
43:33No.
43:34Once it's on, you must leave it.
43:35That's true.
43:36Leave it there till it falls off.
43:48That's it.
43:52Stop it.
43:53The name.

44:17It didn't get very far.
44:18They're only about the same, yeah.
44:19I'm going to give her four.

53:46Thank you so much for being here.
53:47And your young ladies and your young gentlemen, they gave a wonderful display.
53:51You're welcome.
53:52But your judgment is the vital thing now.
53:54First of all, our first couple over here, Anne and John, what did you think about them?
53:58Well, they were very good.
53:59Their marching was very good.
54:00Yes.
54:01When they got to the spins, John hit one of my men.
54:05It's not very good.

54:18She thought she was on a good thing there, definitely.
54:20She got lost.
54:21She did.
54:22She did get lost.
54:23So, what do you think of this?
54:24Any comments about our couple over here?
54:26Well, Melody and Brian.
54:27Melody was marking time a lot.
54:29It seems to be a majorette or something.
54:31She was marching around a lot.
54:32We wouldn't stop marking time.
54:33Yeah.
54:34Brian was wandering around trying to shoot someone at one point.
54:36I didn't think that was the name of the game.
54:38No, no.
54:39And the spins were not bad.
54:41Yeah.
54:42The overall marching was quite good.
54:44Oh, overall.
54:45So, now, I know it was a difficult one to mark this, wasn't it?
54:48It was.
54:49Yeah.
54:50But, I've given John and Anne a score of 17.
54:53Yes.
54:54And Melody and Brian a score of 18.
54:56Oh, just one more.
54:57Yes.

56:02They're more valuable than they look.
56:04Good luck for this.
56:05Your 40 seconds starts now.
56:07On the conveyor belt tonight, we have a case of champagne, a microwave oven,
