00:00Okay, and I asked you just straight up, you didn't have anything to do with this, did you?
00:11I don't like that type of crap.
00:14You don't like the type of crap where people get gunned down?
00:18The couple was found shot to death on the porch of their Willard home.
00:22Did you know what she did?
00:24No, I didn't.
00:25Don't hold back now.
00:27You're not good at lying.
00:30This is a lot like a football game.
00:32We're the Chiefs.
00:33You're on a junior high team right now.
00:35You need to pick which team you're going to be on.
00:38Because if you don't do what's right, it's going to get brutal for you.
00:42We're going to get brutal for you.
00:56We're going to get brutal for you.
00:56This is good.
00:58We're going to get brutal for you.
01:00105 North Avenue, 52.
01:24That's fired. All units respond.
01:25When I arrived, there was two people on the front porch and blood everywhere.
01:36Both victims looked as though they had been shot and were obviously deceased.
01:43The reporting party told me that they had a daughter, so I wanted to check for more victims inside the house.
01:55She was found in the bathroom of the home, uninjured.
02:00Alex had several gunshot wounds to the head.
02:16Brianna had two gunshot wounds.
02:18Alex had an empty holster on his right side and a Glock handgun laying between them near his right hand.
02:29There was an idea that he might have expected that there was going to be a problem, that he was going to have to defend himself.
02:35It was fully loaded, so we knew it wasn't a murder weapon.
02:39But I noticed a large amount of 9mm shell casings in and around the victims' bodies.
02:47There was a police officer who lived near the crime scene who realized that he had a doorbell camera.
02:54When that was reviewed, it did find the gunshots of the attack at 121 a.m.
03:00I heard what sounded to be 10 gunshots in a cadence of five.
03:21A small break and then five more gunshots.
03:27None of them overlapped.
03:30This led me to believe that there was a single shooter.
03:39Someone else has surveillance cameras near their driveway.
03:44We were able to see a small economy-style vehicle around the same time as the murderers.
03:55We weren't able to see the license plate or the color of the vehicle because it was at night.
03:59But that was a big piece of evidence.
04:01So, the reason we're here is that the police received a report this morning, which concerns Alexander's house.
04:23She didn't ask about her daughter.
04:24She didn't ask any questions about the crime.
04:52Sometimes, the sound of silence speaks louder than a thousand words.
05:02Do you know anything about any of that?
05:05No.
05:06No.
05:07No.
05:08No.
05:09I was working all night.

05:47No.
05:48Didn't seem shocked.
05:51She didn't seem worried or concerned.
05:53It was suspicious.
06:08Alex and Teresa were not on good terms.
06:11There were associated claims regarding mistreatment of their daughter
06:15that each was making against the other.
06:18There's a light going on.
06:27There we go.
06:27Good.
06:28Okay.
06:29Come see.
06:36I see your agreement there.
06:41Yep.
06:42Let me show you the part.
06:43Sure.
06:45There is that part.
06:48Every Sunday at 8 a.m.
06:49He's supposed to bring her to me.
06:51I texted him and said, I'm here where we normally do the exchange.
06:55And he said, CPS is ordering him not to give the child over.
07:00He didn't say it.
07:01I plan on also having him prosecuted for violating court order as well.
07:05I don't know what he's trying to accomplish with this.
07:09Okay.
07:09All right.
07:11Follow me.
07:11Okay.
07:28Teresa Cox had reported a 9mm handgun stolen from her vehicle.
07:33This really stuck out to me as the shell casings at the crime scene were 9mm shell casings.
07:40And then there was a subpoena that was served on Teresa's phone number.
07:46Text messages were discovered between her and Mixie that appeared to be planning the homicide.
07:50Mixie was talking about needing to get her head in the right space for what's going to happen tomorrow,
08:03which was sent on Thursday when the homicide occurred overnight on Friday.
08:07Also, it had previous messages between her and Mixie.
08:16Mixie is confronting Teresa and saying, you want me to kill someone?
08:19And Teresa seems like the mastermind.
08:22I think she realized Mixie was willing to do things for her
08:25and was able to manipulate Mixie into pulling the trigger and killing Alex and Brianna.
08:34When I think of Alex, the first word that comes to my mind is funny.
08:38His spirit was lighthearted, friendly.
08:43He was always ready with a kind word.
08:46In his youthful days, he was a little bit geeky.
08:51As he grew bigger, he became physically active
08:54and then followed eventually in my footsteps and joined the Army.
09:00No matter how big he got, he was still my little boy.
09:07Brianna was like a sister to me.
09:09She was pretty feisty.
09:11She was just going to take on the world and no one was going to tell her no.
09:15She worked three jobs just to be able to afford the house that she bought.
09:19She was so caring.
09:21And she loved children.
09:23She talked about Alex's daughter as if she were her own.
09:27Alex and Brianna met at a pizza parlor.
09:30He said it was instant love.
09:33Alex just talked about his future with Bri and having other children.
09:37He was so happy.
10:03You probably heard about what happened up in Willard.
10:05I've heard a little bit, that's pretty much it.
10:07So you work with Teresa, is that what it is?
10:09Yeah, I work with anything.
10:10So what happened Friday night then?
10:12You guys were working together?
10:13Yeah, she was there until, what was it, 1.30?
10:17Uh-huh.
10:19Yeah, 1.30 and then went home.
10:23What time did you guys close that night?
10:25I didn't get out of there until 4 o'clock.
10:27Did her girlfriend show up that day?
10:28Not that I remember.
10:32Was there anything different about Teresa on that Friday night?
10:36No.
10:38I mean, she was upset because she couldn't see her kid.
10:48Matt told me that tree was with him until they all left at 4.10.
10:53And her girlfriend got there about, like, 2.
10:55So Matt said to the police that Teresa went home after work.
11:08And Matt told you, Teresa hung out with him all night.
11:13And then he took her home.
11:14I don't know why he would have said opposite things, but tree was there just as late as he was.
11:25Her girlfriend didn't get there until a little earlier before they left.
11:30Okay, so you're 100% sure that Matt took, um, Teresa and her girlfriend home?
11:40Yeah.
11:42It was obvious that someone was lying.
11:47It did not seem like Ariel was in any way involved in this.
11:52But we believed that Matthew Plum could be hiding something.
12:10Hi.
12:11How are you?
12:12Hi.
12:13How are you?
12:13Thanks for coming in, brother.
12:15Not a problem.
12:16I'm Shannon Shipley.
12:17I'm a son of a son that called you on the phone.
12:19I don't know.
12:20I appreciate you coming in.
12:22Um, okay.
12:25So, um, I'm going to ask you just straight up.
12:29Bet you didn't have anything to do with this, did you?
12:42My daughter Katie, I heard her crying in the living room pretty uncontrollably.
12:47And I heard her move closer to my bedroom just screaming, crying.
12:52She's like, Mom, sit down, sit down.
12:55It's Alex.
12:57And she goes, he's dead.
13:00You could have just knocked me over with a feather.
13:05It was the worst day of my life.
13:07You might know that I talked to Ariel on Saturday.
13:20Some of the things that she told me you told her versus what you told the other officers didn't quite match.
13:29Did she tell you that?
13:31A little bit.
13:32A little bit.
13:33And so Friday, what happened?
13:35Friday night, Trey said her car was breaking down.
13:37She came in and told me that she had to let it sit because the transmission was overheating or getting hot or something.
13:44And I don't, I didn't really, I understand.
13:50Did you ever listen to somebody say their transmission's hot?
13:53Ever in your life, somebody said, my transmission's really hot.
13:58That's, it kind of.
13:58Okay, no.
14:00It kind of seemed funny to me, but I just let it go and went on with my job.
14:05What I'm taking is she just didn't want to drive no more because she wasn't getting very good tips or whatever.
14:10She just wanted to work inside.
14:12What happened?
14:13She was doing my dough prep, helping me clean up.
14:17Every once in a while, she'd make a couple pizzas.
14:20And then around 12, 30, 1 o'clock, we got one last delivery.
14:26And my closing driver took that one.
14:29And Trace is with you?
14:30Uh, until like 1, 1.15, and then she left.
14:37Each time he would tell even a small lie, he would kind of wave his lie off by giving me the hand signal, I just lied to you.
14:50Whenever he gave me that signal, I knew to keep following that trail.
14:54So, there were no visitors that night, correct?
15:01Not that I remember.
15:04There was one time her girlfriend came up there, but I didn't see her after that.
15:08That's a visitor?
15:09That was like around by the block that afternoon.
15:12So, between 2 and 4, 10, when you checked out, nobody came by?
15:19Okay.
15:19Not that I remember, because like I said, I was busy doing everything.
15:26What happened then?
15:27My nephew had my truck.
15:29Uh-huh.
15:30And I called him to come pick me up when I was able to get off work.
15:36My nephew took me home.
15:40Apparently, Tree and her girlfriend was at my house.
15:43I got there and they were there.
15:44They just showed up at your house in the middle of the night.
15:47They had walked over to something, I don't know.
15:50Hmm.
15:51But she lives 30 minutes away, so how would she show up on foot?
15:55That doesn't make sense.
15:57I didn't ask.
16:00Don't hold back anymore, because I can see you are.
16:03And that's what I'm not.
16:04I can see you are.
16:05You're not.
16:07You may think so, but you're not good at lying.
16:11He really wants to keep lying, and I keep cutting him off.
16:14I want him to know I only want to hear the truth.
16:19And as I keep pursuing that, it pushes him into a corner to make a decision.
16:24Is it time to tell the truth?
16:26Am I going to be able to get out of this?
16:28So I took them off.
16:31So I can go to bed.
16:34Hmm.
16:35You forgot that you took them off?
16:37I was sleepy.
16:37That's a big thing to forget.
16:40I was sleepy.
16:42Tired.
16:42I was so tired anyway, I didn't even remember her.
16:45Hmm.
16:46And so how was Teresa and her girlfriend acting?
16:54I slept just like my thing normally was.
16:56I mean, she was upset about her car, but at the head.
17:00Yesterday, you and I had a conversation on your porch.
17:03Remember what I told you when we were standing there?
17:06What did I tell you?
17:08To be completely honest with you?
17:10You like football?
17:11Oh, yeah.
17:11Okay.
17:12So this is a lot like a football game.
17:14And what we're doing, we're the Chiefs.
17:17Teresa and Mixie are on a junior high team right now.
17:20You need to pick which team you're going to be on,
17:23because it's going to get brutal for you.
17:26If you don't do what's right, I'm not choosing their team.
17:30You had conversations with him that you're not telling us.
17:34No, Tim, no.
17:34That's not true.
17:35That's not true.
17:37Regular people, when you tell them that they're lying,
17:41will get very upset.
17:42Nobody wants to be called a liar.
17:45It doesn't bother him one bit, because he knows it's true.
17:48If there's something you think you're going to be in trouble for,
17:51you need to be the first one to talk about it.
17:53Because the first person that talks gets the best deal.
17:58Whatever's in your mind right now, you need to tell us.
18:05Mixie showed up at work right around 2 o'clock,
18:12just after Tree left.
18:14She was a little bit nervous about something.
18:16She was distraught.
18:18I told her to sit down, and I'll see if I can find Tree.
18:23How do you know she's looking for Teresa?
18:25Because I put 2 and 2 together on that.
18:28What did Mixie tell you?
18:31She was saying something about she did something horrible.
18:34Did you already know?
18:36Did you know what she did?
18:37No, I didn't.
18:38You put 2 and 2 together?
18:40I didn't know.
18:41I'm hoping she didn't.
18:42I don't like that type of crap.
18:45You don't like the type of crap where people get gunned down?
18:48No, I don't.
18:48Yeah, I don't like that either.
18:50I think there's a lot more to this conversation than you're letting us know still.
18:54She didn't really tell me.
18:55Is it because you already knew what she did?
18:57She didn't have to tell you?
18:59Do you know it was going to happen?
19:00That was a yes.
19:01That was a yes.
19:02It was.
19:02Okay, so you already knew.
19:03Okay, you already knew.
19:04Got it.
19:09You're worried you're going to be in trouble because you knew it was going to happen.
19:17You didn't do anything.
19:19You tell this lady exactly what happened and don't hold back.
19:23This is it.
19:24The head goes down and we know that he's getting ready to give us some significant information,
19:35but he's having a hard time saying it.
19:38The cigarette break, it's a calculated risk.
19:47Could it be a chance for a person to decide that they don't want to do this anymore?
19:52Yes, but sometimes leaving the interview room is also a stress reducer.
19:58About two weeks ago, before this happened, okay, I'm asking you, I knew where she could
20:11get a throwaway gun.
20:13You're talking about Teresa?
20:14Yeah.
20:14Okay.
20:16I told her no, I don't.
20:18Sure.
20:18So about a day later, she tells me that she has a gun.
20:27She was upset about everything going on.
20:29Right.
20:33And then she started talking to me about wanting to do it on a certain day.
20:40I'm like, well, if you're actually going to do it, do it.
20:48But I don't really want involved.
20:50If you're going to be at work, hey, there's your alibi.
20:53Right.
20:55I'm the same one on tip.
20:58Sure.
20:58So I was going with the alibi.
21:01So why did Bixie come back to the store?
21:05Because that was you.
21:07That was the plan?
21:07I guess for her to borrow Tree's car, but go do it, come back to the store, and then
21:16pick Tree up, come up, get the car, and go home.
21:20What did they do with the gun?
21:22That I didn't know.
21:24Teresa was looking for a way that she could carry out the homicides and avoid any consequences.
21:31You can see that in the setting up the alibi with Matt Plum.
21:34She manipulates all the pieces.
21:36She didn't care who, even among her friends, got hurt carrying out what she wanted to do.
21:45Okay.
21:49So the plan, was that something that you and Teresa discussed?
21:53Teresa discussed with me the plan.
21:56And was Bixie any part of that plan that you heard or you saw?
22:00Or was it just you and Teresa?
22:02Just me and Tree.
22:03Okay.
22:04So it was part of the plan then for Bixie to do the terrible thing?
22:09Okay.
22:10So, Teresa clocked in at what time?
22:13I think it was 6.
22:15When Tree came in and told me her car was messing up.
22:18Yeah.
22:19Her car wasn't messed up.
22:21Yeah.
22:21Right.
22:22We know that.
22:24She was doing deliveries at a certain point.
22:31Then she backed off.
22:32And she stopped because?
22:34Because Bixie took her car.
22:36Bixie didn't come back with the car until 1.30.
22:40Bixie went out, got in it, Bixie come in.
22:44That's when I was trying to calm her down, keep her out of the way.
22:49I asked her what it was, but.
22:52And she told you because you knew the plan.
22:55I couldn't understand what she was saying because she was so hysterical and stuff.
23:00But she did calm down.
23:01She calmed down a little bit.
23:03She told me that she killed him.
23:08She killed him?
23:10Or?
23:12I guess she killed both of them.
23:14And Bixie didn't tell you how they got on the porch?
23:17I didn't ask.
23:19I didn't even want to know because it was already too much for me.
23:25Who did Bixie?
23:27No.
23:28I told him not.
23:29No.
23:30Now that you're telling the truth and being honest, omission is a form of deceit, too.
23:37So if you've not told us stuff that we're going to find out, that would be bad.
23:42The GPS is going to show that I went driving around before I went home.
23:49Just to clear my mind.
23:52Where did you go?
23:52I went to Rutledge Ridge walkways, and I sat out there for a while.
24:00What'd you do?
24:01I just sat in the truck.
24:03What were you thinking about?
24:05Why I even agreed to it?
24:14There's something more.
24:15Go ahead and hit me with it.
24:16I think I'm sorry.
24:16What is it?
24:17I told Teresa if you wanted to get rid of a gun, Rutledge Wilson was a good place to go.
24:25That's why I drove down there to see, make sure she wasn't down there.
24:33Rutledge Wilson Farm Park is a working farm that is a park in Springfield.
24:40It's heavily covered with trees and foliage, a good place to dump a murder weapon.
24:48If you got rid of the gun, tell us now.
24:51I didn't get rid of it.
24:53Okay, well, here's the thing.
24:54If it makes you think Teresa, say anything like, hey, look, I gave him the gun to get rid of, that's going to be bad.
25:01Dude, if you took that gun, I get it.
25:03I understand that.
25:05Other people won't understand that, but what they won't understand is if you went all this way and then didn't come clean 100%.
25:12If you got rid of the gun, please don't hold back.
25:16If you did that.
25:21Okay.
25:31Okay.
25:32So, Meg C, did she give you the gun when she came in or what?
25:36I don't know how it ended up in my truck.
25:38You just saw your truck?
25:39Yeah, I found it.
25:41Where was it?
25:42It was sitting underneath my back passenger seat.
25:45Hmm.
25:47Okay.
25:48And you know where it's at now?
25:49I saw you exactly where it's at.
25:51Is it outside?
25:53It's in the water.
25:55It's in the water.
25:56Okay.
25:56Well, we can go for a ride.
25:59You can show us where you pitched it.
26:01Would that be okay?
26:05You are going to be in some trouble, okay?
26:08But, dude, I'm telling you right now.
26:10Honesty helps you.
26:12What kind of trouble am I looking at?
26:14It depends.
26:16You're getting helpful now.
26:20We got in the car and Matt took us to the location where he had thrown both the gun and
26:27the magazine.
26:28As soon as we were at the location, the Missouri State Highway Patrol dive team was able to locate
26:36the gun.
26:37The firearm matched the serial number that Teresa Cox had reported as stolen.
26:44Finding the gun was big.
26:46It was a direct tie of the murder weapon back to Teresa Cox.
26:55The evidence showed that he aided Teresa with the intent to further the homicide.
27:01She was able to manipulate Matt Plum into disposing of the murder weapon.
27:05Teresa, frankly, is the mastermind.
27:08It doesn't happen without her.
27:20We learned there was a friend who had helped him buy hair dye and told the police that they
27:25were in fugitive mode.
27:27It became apparent that Teresa and Mixie were on the run.
27:29We learned they hitched a ride with a trucker into Joplin and left the state.
27:42We were offered aid from the U.S. Marshals.
27:45They told me in no uncertain terms, we will get your guy.
27:58We obtained a search warrant for Teresa Cox's residence.
28:01We located a portable safe in the closet.
28:06We found the Smith & Wesson handgun magazine.
28:10The casings had S&B 9x19 20.
28:14The same head stamp found at the crime scene.
28:16Also, we received information from Teresa Cox's phone.
28:20Her internet search history was showing things like, what's the easiest way to kill people?
28:24How do you report a gun stolen?
28:26And then you also have things about how to go on the run.
28:29She had searches for Alexander Schuetz and Breonna Sproul's residence, which showed 41 photos of their house.
28:37It seemed that she had been planning the murders for quite some time.
28:40Teresa had a 2014 red Chevy Spark, which has a very distinctive profile.
28:58When I looked at the vehicle in the video, it looked exactly like a Chevy Spark.
29:05Our case was going from a very, very strong circumstantial evidence case to a hard evidence case.
29:13At that point, Mixie's taken into custody, and the marshals reach out to let our office know that they also had Teresa.
29:36Teresa didn't want to speak without her lawyer present, and so an interview with Teresa wasn't ever established.
29:55But Mixie was willing to speak with us.
30:00Let me check this out for you, okay?
30:01We wanted to establish more evidence against Teresa that Teresa was pressuring Mixie to do this.
30:13Um, a lot has gone down in a little bit of time, and everybody is scared, all right?
30:22Everybody's pointing at you, Mixie.
30:24You're going to have one opportunity to put your side of the story out there.
30:31People that you thought were your friends are not your friends.
30:36They're all scared, and they're all singing like canaries, all right?
30:42They want you to take the whole heat for this, and I know that's not true.
30:46I know that's not true.
30:54Right now, you're the only advocate for yourself.
31:08I'm not supposed to say anything.
31:12You're kind of at a crossroads, where you have to make a decision for yourself.
31:17Do you want to protect Matt and Tree, or do you want to clarify how this thing came to birth?
31:27I already got everybody else's side of it, and I know that if it wasn't for pressure from Tree,
31:37this thing would have never happened.
31:39Would have never happened.
31:43So you tell me what you want to do.
31:45There ain't nothing I can say.
31:53What kind of relationship do you and Teresa have?
31:56She's my best friend.
32:00Any more than that?
32:02A lot more.
32:03I mean, I loved her.
32:07Do you still love Teresa?
32:09Yes.
32:11That's never going to change.
32:12I don't believe that normal's coming back.
32:25Um, tell me about the pressure that you were being placed under by Teresa.
32:31I don't want to go into any of this.
32:35So, and I'm still confused about a lot of things.
32:40Are you confused about, um, how you got drug into this?
32:46A lot of times, yeah.
32:48How do you think you got drug into this?
32:50I don't know.
32:51It was going to be a battle getting Mixie to roll on Teresa because she was so in love with her.
33:03So, I'm going to have to change to focus on Matthew's participation.
33:10I don't want to waste your time.
33:13I already wrote the reports.
33:15You have to leave out this little thing as pleasant.
33:17What I need is a confirmation that, um, Matt is being truthful in what he's saying because he's throwing everybody he can under the bus to, um, get himself some kind of sweetheart deal right now.
33:34I don't think anybody's going to be truthful in this situation.
33:37You're probably right.
33:39Are you?
33:40I have no reason to lie.
33:44Why is that?
33:46I just don't.
33:46I'm not a liar.
33:47Then I guess it comes down to what part did everybody play in this?
33:56I guess that's the part that nobody knows then.
34:02I don't want to do this conversation anymore.
34:04Okay.
34:05That's all right.
34:06But you're screwing yourself.
34:10As long as Therese is okay.
34:13Therese is not going to be okay.
34:16Let her know I love her.
34:27Mixie was done talking that day, but didn't close the door for subsequent interviews.
34:34Right there.
34:40Do you have one in here?
34:43Thank you, Detective.
34:44You have a seatbelt over here.
34:47Do you want to close the door?
34:47Yep.
34:48Are you cold?
34:59No, I'm just shaking.
35:00Okay.
35:00I'm a bit shaky.
35:01Okay.
35:02Can I ask you what pronouns you like to go by?
35:05She, her.
35:06And if there's something you don't want to answer, you don't have to answer it.
35:09I guess...
35:10Then you can stop at any time you want.
35:11I guess I'll check you out for a little bit.
35:13All right.
35:13So, uh, when did you meet Therese, Mixie?
35:19Early July.
35:21She just saw me sitting there by myself one day, and she came up and she sat down and started talking to me.
35:26And, uh, you know, she admitted to me that people said to kind of steer clear of me because I was weird.
35:33And she didn't really want to listen to them.
35:35She wanted to give me a chance.
35:36So...
35:37That's great.
35:37We started...
35:39We became pretty good friends from there.
35:43So I wanted to show her that I was professional and that she was being respected.
35:47I want her to fill at ease.
35:49After that, then I can ask direct questions.
35:52I had a choir for a little bit.
35:54I don't know.
35:54I'm interested in a very good student.
35:56Absolutely.
35:57Art was really my only good subject.
35:58I think you have a story that people don't understand.
36:06I'm reading stuff on Facebook.
36:09And people are saying negative stuff about you.
36:11They're saying really rotten stuff about you.
36:14And I don't think they know the whole story, and I don't think it's fair.
36:18Mixie?
36:19Did you shoot Alex and Brianna?
36:21I want to know.
36:36No, sir.
36:38Okay.
36:39Do you know who did?
36:40No, sir.
36:41I don't know anything about any of that.
36:44How did you find out that Alex had been killed?
36:47The news.
36:48What did it make you feel?
36:51I didn't know what to feel with Alex.
36:55I had asked Teresa before if I could get to know him, but I never really got the opportunity to.
37:02Why not?
37:03She said he wasn't trustworthy and was a bad guy, and so I was wanting to eventually sit down and get all whatever their bad blood was worked out.
37:14But it just never worked out that way.
37:16And why was there bad blood between them?
37:18She told me a lot of things.
37:22She told me he used to beat on her, and he'd tell everybody it was because he had PTSD.
37:28You ever think to yourself, I wish Alex would just go away?
37:31No.
37:32It was not my place to think things like that.
37:35Did Teresa think that?
37:37I don't know.
37:38Teresa took every opportunity to sway people, to maneuver their feelings about Alex, to cause him to be a villain in their eyes, and to favor her.
37:57Why do you think someone would harm Alex?
38:00I don't know.
38:03Why would someone harm Brion?
38:05I have no clue why someone would hurt her.
38:08If you had to name the real true victims in all this, who do you think the real true victims are?
38:14I have no clue.
38:16I don't know how to answer that question.
38:17I'm sorry.
38:18It makes you tell me why you couldn't have done this.
38:26Because it's just not me.
38:28It's just not a thing that I'm willing to do.
38:32For someone that had no involvement, it's a real quick answer.
38:36I didn't do it because I wasn't in Willard.
38:38Because I had no ill will against Alex.
38:42Because I had no firearm.
38:44But if they did do it, they have to convince you that they weren't part of this.
38:48And at this point, Mixie waffles a little bit.
38:52I was out getting drunk with my friends anyway.
38:55Who were you drinking with that night?
39:01I think I'm done with questions.
39:03I just want to go back up to myself.
39:08There was a recording that Brianna took on her cell phone on the night of the murder.
39:33You can hear her talking to someone.
39:34I recognize the voice to be Mixie's voice.
39:38I can call him if you want to do that.
39:56I'd just try to reveal it to you guys in person.
39:58Let me call him and see when he's going to be home.
40:01Mixie was luring Alex back home.
40:03He was originally supposed to work from 4 p.m. till midnight, but he left an hour early.
40:09He told a co-worker that his girlfriend, Brianna, was alone and he was afraid for her.
40:14And that's why he had a handgun on him at the crime scene.
40:20The first of three suspects charged with killing a Willard couple has pleaded guilty to his role in the double murder.
40:26Matthew Plump took a deal from prosecutors and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit a felony and tampering with evidence.
40:32I just wanted to begin by saying I'm sorry to the pain.
40:48And I'm sorry to Alex and Brandon.
40:51I knew what was wrong.
40:52I got the way there.
40:53I was asking myself, what the hell am I doing?
40:55Teresa Cox pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and two counts of armed criminal action.
41:06Cox addressed the court, but didn't show any remorse.
41:09While she was being sentenced, she was making claims that whatever she did, she did for the daughter.
41:14I love her, and everything I've ever done needs to give her the best life I've ever done.
41:18Her safety, security, and happiness are my priorities in this life.
41:22As for the future, I wish to pursue her dreams and have the utmost success.
41:28Lastly, I hope she and I will have a relationship, no matter where we are both at, if she so desires.
41:36Cox was sentenced, but not before Shute's family said their piece.
41:40I couldn't believe that she was capable of something that would...
41:43Suffice to say, she is the face of evil.
41:47My one wish is that she gets everything she deserves and more.
41:50Because she is a psychopath.
41:56Teresa Cox was pure evil.
42:01She was somehow able to convince her co-workers to carry out murder,
42:08but we were able to bring some measure of justice to the family.
42:15We get to keep a little piece of him alive through her.
42:25That was Alex's baby girl, and he loved her so much.
42:29All Brianna wanted to do was love her like she was her own.
42:34I miss so much about Brianna.
42:35Alex's birthday is on Veterans Day, and we gathered together on that day and have a toast in Alex's name.
