00:00Hello there and welcome to your weekend weather forecast.
00:03And what a difference a week can make.
00:05Last weekend we were looking at Storm Amy, which brought heavy rain and some very strong
00:09winds.
00:10This weekend it's the opposite and it's all thanks to high pressure.
00:15Sitting out to the west on Friday and eventually pushing its way eastwards, becoming centred
00:19across the UK as we head towards the weekend.
00:21So many are going to see dry, settled conditions, but across the north at times on the northern
00:26flank of the high, it will be a bit breezier here and often quite cloudy.
00:30But for many to start on Saturday, it's going to be fairly chilly, particularly where we
00:33see any clear skies and it's here where we could also see some mist and fog patches through
00:38the course of the morning, but this should lift and break quite quickly and for many
00:42it should be a dry start to the weekend.
00:45We could still see a fair amount of cloud, particularly across the west, southern counties could see
00:49quite a cloudy day, but there will be some breaks in the cloud, allowing some bright and
00:52sunny spells, particularly across eastern areas.
00:55But across the far north of Scotland, remaining breezy here through much of the day, thicker
01:00areas of cloud producing some drizzle at times, and this could be quite persistent, particularly
01:04across the northern isles.
01:05And for most, temperatures are around about average, highs reaching 17, possibly 18 degrees
01:11Celsius, so fairly similar to what we've had during the end of the week, but particularly
01:15across eastern areas of Scotland, temperatures above average here, so it is going to be feeling
01:20warm and pleasant in the autumnal sunshine.
01:23Now overnight Saturday through into Sunday, high pressure is sticking with us, but once
01:27again notice Scotland still on the northern flank of that high, so still plenty of moisture
01:32and cloud pushing through into these areas.
01:34But elsewhere, it will be fairly similar conditions to what we saw during the day, a mix of clouds,
01:39some clearer skies, so once again that will lead to some fairly chilly conditions heading
01:43into Sunday morning, also some patchy mist and fog.
01:46The difference from Saturday to Sunday though, is that we could see a bit more fog during
01:50the course of Sunday morning.
01:52Some areas are being picked out across our ensemble model, Northern Ireland for example, parts
01:57of Wales, Shropshire, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, also central and south-eastern parts of England,
02:04so there could be some thicker areas of fog during the early hours of Sunday, so if you're
02:09up early do take care, this could cause some travel disruption, but most of us will probably
02:14treat ourselves to align on Sunday, and the fog will lift and break quite quickly through
02:18the course of the morning, and otherwise, Sunday looks fairly similar to Saturday, mostly
02:23dry, light winds and plenty of bright and sunny spells.
02:27Still that cloud lingering though across northern areas of Scotland, still producing some drizzle
02:32at times, and for some areas as we head later into the afternoon, we could just start to
02:36pick up some cloud drifting in from the North Sea, so starting to turn into grey skies here.
02:41Otherwise, similar temperatures to what we'll see on Saturday, highs reaching 17, possibly
02:4518 degrees Celsius where we see the sunshine stick around.
02:50Then into next week, we're still largely dominated by high pressure, that will stop any weather
02:55fronts moving in from the west, so once again dry, settled, still fairly chilly overnight
03:00with the risk of some mist and fog during the early hours of the morning, but as we head
03:04towards the middle part of the week and that high pressure continues to shift its way eastwards,
03:08we might see a slight change in wind directions, that means more cloud, potentially more sunshine
03:13as we head through into Wednesday, but of course, for more updates on that, you can subscribe
