Catholic Mass Today I Daily Holy Mass I Thursday October 9 2025 I English Holy Mass
Transcript
00:00In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, the Lord be with you.
00:19Dear brothers and sisters, wherever you may be today, welcome to this celebration of the Holy
00:24Eucharist. Today the Church gives us the joy of celebrating so many saints. It's hard to pick,
00:30we have St. Dennis, who was a bishop and martyr, we have St. John Lunardi, who was a priest and
00:34founder, and I think very close to our hearts, especially during these times, is St. John Henry
00:40Newman, convert and priest, and in a few weeks' time we'll be formally declared a doctor of the Church
00:46by Pope Leo. So we give thanks to God for the example of the saints, and also of the so many
00:53people around us in our parishes and communities who continue to inspire us to grow in lives of faith.
00:59I ask you to pause for a few moments, dear friends, so that you may also have time to bring your own
01:04intentions into the hands of God as we begin this prayer.
01:12We pray in a special way for those who are currently unwell, unable to attend Mass, and those who are
01:18housebound. Dear brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves
01:22to celebrate the sacred mysteries. You were sent to heal the contrite of heart. Lord, have mercy.
01:29Lord, have mercy. You came to call sinners. Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. You are seated at the
01:36right hand of the Father to intercede for us. Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. May Almighty God have
01:42mercy on us, forgive us our sins, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen. Let us pray.
01:50Almighty ever-living God, who, in the abundance of your kindness, surpassed the merits and the desires
01:57of those who entreat you, pour out your mercy upon us to pardon what conscience dreads, and to give what
02:05prayer does not dare to ask. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns
02:10with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.
02:24A reading from the prophet Malachi.
02:27You say harsh things about me, says the Lord. You ask, what have we said against you?
02:33You say, it is useless to serve God. What is the good of keeping His commands or walking
02:41mournfully before the Lord of hosts? Now we have reached the point where we call the arrogant
02:48blessed. Yes, they prosper, these evildoers. They try God's patience and yet go free. This
02:56is what those who fear me, the Lord, used to say to one another. But the Lord took note and
03:03heard them. A book of remembrance was written in His presence, recording those who fear Him
03:08and take refuge in His name.
03:11On the day which I am preparing, says the Lord of hosts, they are going to be my own special
03:16possession. I will make allowances for them, as a man makes allowances for the Son who obeys
03:25Him.
03:26Then once again, you will see the difference between an upright man and a wicked one, between
03:32the evil, between the one who serves God and the one who does not serve Him. For the day
03:39is coming now, burning like a furnace, and all the arrogant and the evildoers will be like
03:48stubble. The day that is coming is going to burn them up, says the Lord of hosts, leaving them
03:57neither root nor stalk. But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness will shine out with
04:07healing in its rays. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Happy are they who hope in the Lord. Happy are they who hope in the Lord. Happy are they who hope in the Lord.
04:17Happy are they who hope in the Lord. Happy indeed is the man who follows the counsel of the wicked, nor lingers in the way of sinners, nor sits in the company of spawners, but whose delight is the law of the Lord, and who ponders his law day and night.
04:32Happy are they who hope in the Lord. He is like a tree that is planted beside flowing waters,
04:39that yields its fruit in Jerusalem, and whose leaves shall never fade, and all that he does, that he does shall prosper.
04:48Happy are they who hope in the Lord. Not so the wicked, not so. For they like wintered chaff shall be driven away by the wind. For the Lord guards the way of the just, but the way of the wicked leads to them. Happy are they who hope in the Lord.
05:06Alleluia. Alleluia.
05:09Open our hearts, Lord, to listen to the words of your Son. Alleluia.
05:15The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke. Glory to you, O Lord.
05:30Jesus said to his disciples,
05:33Suppose one of you has a friend and goes to him in the middle of the night to say,
05:39My friend, lend me three loaves, because a friend of mine on his traverse has just arrived at my house, and I have nothing to offer him.
05:48And the man answers from inside the house. Do not bother me. The door is bolted now, and my children are in bed. I cannot get up to give it to you.
06:01I tell you, if the man does not get up and give it to him for friendship's sake,
06:07persistence will be enough to make him get up and give his friend all he wants.
06:12So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be open to you.
06:22For the one who asks, always receives. The one who searches, always finds. The one who knocks, will always have the door open to him.
06:33What father among you would hand his son a stone when he asks for bread? Or hand him a snake instead of a fish? Or hand him a scorpion if he asks for an egg?
06:45If you then, who are evil, know how to give your children what is good, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?
06:57The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
07:03Now remember, I have here. Now, I'm going to take a deep breath.

10:18In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice, and once more giving thanks,
10:37he gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and drink from it,
10:42for this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant,
10:47which will be poured out for you and for many, for the forgiveness of sins.
10:53Do this in memory of me.
11:12The mystery of faith.
11:14We proclaim your death, O Lord, and profess your resurrection until you come again.
11:21Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection,
11:24we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation,
11:29giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.
11:34Humbly we pray that, partaking of the body and blood of Christ,
11:38we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
11:47Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world,
11:50and bring her to the fullness of charity,
11:52together with Leo, our Pope, and Charles, our Bishop, and all the clergy.
11:58Remember.
11:58Remember also, brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection,
12:07and all who have died in your mercy.
12:09Welcome them into the light of your face.
12:12Have mercy on us all, we pray,
12:14that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
12:17with the blessed apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages,
12:21we may merit to be coerced to eternal life,
12:23and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.
12:28Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, Almighty Father,
12:36in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
12:38all glory and honor is yours forever and ever.
12:42Amen.
12:44At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching,
12:47we dare to say,
12:49Our Father, who art in heaven,
12:52hallowed be thy name,
12:53thy kingdom come,
12:55thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
12:59Give us this day our daily bread,
13:01and forgive us our trespasses,
13:04as we forgive those who trespass against us.
13:07And lead us not into temptation,
13:10but deliver us from evil.
13:12Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil.
13:14Graciously grant peace in our days,
13:17that by the help of your mercy,
13:18we may be always free from sin,
13:21and safe from all distress,
13:23as we await the blessed hope,
13:24and the coming of our Savior,
13:26Jesus Christ.
13:27For the kingdom, the power,
13:29and the glory of yours,
13:30now and forever.
13:31Lord Jesus Christ,
13:32who said to your apostles,
13:33Peace I leave you,
13:34my peace I give you,
13:36look not on our sins,
13:37but on the faith of your church,
13:39and graciously grant her peace and unity,
13:41in accordance with your will,
13:43who live and reign forever and ever.
13:45Amen.
13:46The peace of the Lord be with you always.
13:48And with us today.
13:49Let us offer each other the sign of peace.
13:51Peace be with you.
14:03Lamb of God,
14:04you take away the sins of the world,
14:07have mercy on us.
14:09Lamb of God,
14:10you take away the sins of the world,
14:12have mercy on us.
14:14Lamb of God,
14:14you take away the sins of the world,
14:17grant us peace.
14:18Behold the Lamb of God,
14:44behold him who takes away the sins of the world,
14:46blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
14:50Lord,
14:50I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof,
14:54but only say the word,
14:55and my soul shall be healed.
14:58My Jesus,
14:59I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament.
15:02I love you above all things,
15:04and I desire to receive you into my soul.
15:07Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
15:11commonly,
15:11spiritually,
15:12into my heart,
15:13I embrace you as if you were already there,
15:16and unite myself wholly to you.
15:19Never permit me to be separated from you.
15:22Amen.
15:22Let us pray.
15:23Let us pray.
15:28Grant us,
15:29almighty God,
15:29that we may be refreshed and nourished with the sacrament which we have received,
15:34so as to be transformed into what we consume,
15:38through Christ our Lord.
15:39Amen.
15:40And friends,
15:41thank you for your prayerful company today,
15:43whenever you might be watching this online Mass throughout the day.
15:46We continue,
15:47of course,
15:47to pray for each other,
15:48and if I could be daring,
15:51I'd like to ask for your continued prayers for the priests that are here in their Mass today.
15:55They are about to go into different parts of the diocese for wonderful parts of Christ's mission here in our land,
16:02and so they will benefit very much from your prayers and the offerings of your sacrifices from home.
16:07And on behalf of them,
16:08I thank you in advance.
16:09The Lord be with you.
16:11And with your spirit.
16:12May almighty God bless you,
16:13the Father,
16:14and the Son,
16:14and the Holy Spirit.
16:16Amen.
16:16Go and announce the Gospel of the Lord.
16:18Thanks be to God.
16:20Amen.
