02:23This is Flavio.
02:28It was early morning and I had just got to work.
02:30When we got the call, an individual by the name of Sue Bostic
02:34noticed a black trash bag sitting outside her front door
02:38and she found a note under her windshield on her car.
02:43People understand what looks suspicious
02:45and what just doesn't look right,
02:48without anyone having to explain that to them.
02:52When she saw that bag on the porch,
02:55a garbage bag perfectly centered in front of her door,
02:59it immediately alarmed her.
03:01Somebody put it there.
03:03Whatever is in it is probably not good.
03:07Then when she sees a note on her car,
03:10it further alarms her,
03:12knowing that that note has got to relate to this bag.
03:16The note says, Grace, this is your last warning.
03:21This is what happens if you don't follow instructions.
03:25Okay, got it. I'm on my way.
03:29Flavio has two things to answer at once.
03:32Who is this person that lost these body parts?
03:35And more importantly, who is Grace?
03:37If there was a case to solve,
03:43if Carlos Flavio was on it,
03:45it was going to get solved.
03:47When I arrived, two patrol officers,
03:49Officer Odom and Officer Drummond,
03:51were at a patrol car
03:53where they had this black bag on the back of the car.
03:56Hey, Drummond.
03:56What are we looking at here?
04:00You won't believe this.
04:01Had you ever seen anything like this before?
04:07In my career, I've never had a case like this
04:11before or after.
04:15Let's get forensics out here now.
04:18When dispatch calls you and says,
04:21we've got body parts in a trash bag,
04:24no doubt that was going to be one of those things
04:27that I personally wanted to respond to.
04:30You said you got body parts?
04:33The toes have been clipped clean off.
04:36What?
04:40What are we getting ourselves into here?
04:43The hands and feet were brown skin.
04:46It almost looked like it was surgically removed.
04:49It was very clean cuts.
04:51There wasn't a lot of blood in the bag.
04:54Obviously, it happened somewhere else.
04:55You have evidence of extreme violence.
04:59Someone is hacking up a human body,
05:02forcefully removing the toes,
05:05cleaving a foot off at the ankle joint,
05:09cleaving a hand off at the wrist joint.
05:12For what purpose?
05:14To make a threat?
05:16Well, it's working.
05:18That's an awful threat.
05:22Guys, I remember my prayer was,
05:24I hoped the victim
05:27had died at this point.
05:30I hoped that they didn't feel pain.
05:33Whoever lost their hand and their foot
05:36could not have survived that.
05:38You'd bleed out in less than two minutes.
05:41This is a homicide.
05:43The question becomes,
05:44of whom and where is the rest of them?
05:47The note itself was bizarre.
06:01It was addressed to an individual
06:03by the name of Grace Davis,
06:04basically threatening Grace.
06:07We learned that Miss Bostick
06:09is Grace Davis' aunt.
06:11The implied content of the note is,
06:14do what we demand,
06:16or this will happen to you.
06:19In addition to that information,
06:21there is an email to respond to
06:24at the bottom of the page.
06:25for us as investigators,
06:29you know, thank you,
06:31because we can track
06:32that email address
06:33and at least start somewhere.
06:36Let's see if you can pull
06:37any prints off of this,
06:39and let's get a read
06:40on that email.
06:42I'll let you know
06:43what we can find.
06:44We had no clue
06:49what or who
06:51we were dealing with.
06:52Detective?
06:53Yeah.
06:54He's got a problem.
06:56He's informed by radio
06:57that a second bag
06:59has been found
07:00at another house
07:01a mile away
07:02that also contains
07:03additional body parts.
07:06Holy smokes.
07:08I never dreamed
07:09that we would get a call
07:10about other body parts.
07:12so now we went
07:13from one scene
07:14to two scenes.
07:16My fear
07:17was that more bags
07:19would show up
07:20and that,
07:21as they did,
07:22the case would just
07:23become more
07:25inhumane
07:26over time.
07:28We needed to get
07:29those body parts
07:31to the morgue
07:32because that was
07:33going to be key
07:34in trying to establish
07:36the identity
07:36of that person.
07:39The woman who lives
07:41in the second home
07:42is Judon Burnside.
07:44We learned that
07:46Judon Burnside
07:47is Grace Davis'
07:48mother.
07:50So we have Judon Burnside,
07:52we have Sue Bostic.
07:54Now,
07:55Flavel has to set
07:56about finding answers.
07:58So Sue and Judon
07:59are interviewed
08:00together.
08:02Grace Davis
08:03is one woman's daughter
08:05and the other woman's niece.
08:06does she live
08:08with either one of you?
08:09She used to,
08:11but things have changed
08:12and now we just
08:13take care of the kids.
08:15She's gotten into drugs
08:17and her children
08:18were taken away
08:19from her
08:20and she has drifted off
08:22into the streets
08:23and they don't know
08:25where she is.
08:25They have no idea
08:28who would threaten her
08:29or why.
08:30They both assume
08:32it is some sort
08:33of drug debt
08:33or some sort
08:35of difficulty
08:35she has fallen into
08:37by living on the streets.
08:39But they don't know.
08:41They haven't seen her
08:42or talked to her
08:43for some time.
08:45They are independently
08:47raising her children
08:48in the hope
08:49that Grace
08:50will somehow
08:50straighten out her life
08:51and return
08:52to recover her children.
08:53That has not yet happened.
08:56So Flavel once again
08:58is faced with
08:58another mystery.
09:00Not only who
09:00Grace Davis is,
09:02but we don't know
09:03where she is
09:04and we don't know
09:06how she could have
09:07acquired an enemy
09:08that is not only
09:10depraved
09:10but is particularly evil.
09:15Who might that be?
09:17Flavel doesn't know.
09:19Whoever is responsible
09:21for this
09:21doesn't know
09:23where Grace is either
09:24or he wouldn't be
09:25leaving these threats
09:27with relatives.
09:28He'd be going
09:29directly to Grace Davis.
09:30Has anything happened
09:32in the last few days
09:32out of the ordinary?
09:34Well,
09:35there was this phone call.
09:37Miss Bostic told us
09:38she answered the phone
09:39and stated
09:41it sounds like
09:41somebody's gonna die.
09:43Hello?
09:44Help me!
09:44Help me, please!
09:47Hello?
09:47Hello?
09:47She got a phone call
09:52from a female voice
09:53who was screaming
09:54into the phone
09:55and then the line
09:56went dead.
09:58She wonders
09:59if that's connected.
10:00Flavel wonders
10:01the same thing.
10:02Do either one of you
10:03know anybody
10:04that would want
10:05to do Grace harm?
10:06There is her ex.
10:10Grace's ex-husband
10:11has been ordered
10:12to pay $400 a month
10:14in child support
10:15and he was very
10:17unhappy about this.
10:19Money, sex,
10:20or revenge
10:21are common things
10:22in a murder case
10:23and here we have
10:24money and revenge
10:26together.
10:28So, of course,
10:29that kind of
10:30turns our attention.
10:31We needed to talk
10:32to Grace's ex-husband.
10:34The ex-husband
10:44appears shocked
10:45and has no knowledge
10:46of any of this.
10:48Mr. Davis,
10:49I need to know
10:49where you were
10:50on the morning
10:50of the 7th.
10:52I was with my girlfriend.
10:55He pretty much
10:55had an alibi
10:56for the time frame
10:58that we were looking at.
10:59He was in a new relationship
11:01and his new girlfriend
11:03actually had taken him
11:04to work.
11:04We verified
11:05his work record
11:06so we were able
11:07to clear him
11:08as a suspect.
11:13It's just not the guy.
11:15It just isn't.
11:17It's a shame
11:17it would make this case
11:18a lot simpler
11:19but it's not simple.
11:21Murders never are.
11:28This is flavor.
11:31Okay.
11:32Got it.
11:33I'll be right there.
11:34It is very unusual
11:36to ask a coroner
11:38to examine body parts
11:39and not a body.
11:41It's happened in my career
11:42but it's very rare.
11:46Our medical examiner
11:47called us
11:48to review
11:49all the tissue samples.
11:52The body parts
11:54they were not per se
11:55surgically removed
11:56but they weren't hacked
11:58and whacked and whacked.
12:00Whatever was used
12:01was very sharp.
12:03It made a clean cut
12:05right at the joint.
12:08But we did get a hit
12:09on the prints.
12:11They do determine
12:13the identity
12:14of the parts
12:15by fingerprint.
12:18It's a female
12:19and her name
12:20was McCole Harris.
12:23She's 34 years old.
12:26I've never heard
12:27of McCole Harris
12:28so now we've got
12:30to figure out
12:31why you?
12:32Why are your hands
12:32and feet in this bag?
12:33Now the question's become
12:37where was she
12:37last seen alive?
12:39What is her connection
12:40if any
12:41to Grace Davis?
12:43We have someone
12:45who is such an enemy
12:46of Miss Davis
12:47he's willing to kill
12:48just to make a point.
12:50That's a serious enemy.
12:56Murders.
12:57Monday.
12:58On ID.
13:03So we know
13:07that now
13:08this person's name
13:09is McCole Harris.
13:11Now Flavel
13:12has to set about
13:13finding where
13:14McCole Harris
13:15was last seen alive.
13:17And he has to make
13:18a death notification
13:18of the family.
13:20For you
13:21to give them
13:22that news
13:23is devastating
13:24in a split second.
13:27Their life
13:28has turned
13:28upside down.
13:30He finds
13:36her mother
13:36and has
13:37to explain
13:38that he doesn't
13:39have her daughter's
13:41body.
13:41He only has
13:42parts of it.
13:45So we learned
13:46that McCole Harris
13:47was a 34-year-old mother
13:48who grew up
13:49in a normal family
13:50a couple of towns
13:52away from Greenville.
13:54McCole was my
13:55baby sister
13:56I kind of like
13:57raised her
13:58as my own.
13:59that was my heart.
14:01It was seven of us
14:03and Mika was the baby.
14:04We nicknamed her
14:05Mickey.
14:06Her personality
14:06was sweet
14:07and loving.
14:09She was lovely
14:10as a mother.
14:11She had the heart
14:12of gold.
14:14Where had she
14:14been living?
14:16That's the thing.
14:18She was not
14:19making
14:19the best decisions.
14:22McCole Harris
14:23was somebody
14:24who had fallen
14:25on hard times
14:26because she had
14:27a drug habit.
14:28she would often
14:30find herself
14:31living on the streets
14:32or with random people.
14:34Due to
14:35McCole's
14:36substance abuse
14:37problem
14:37she didn't have
14:38custody of her kids.
14:41We used to
14:41you know
14:42see each other
14:43on a regular basis
14:44even though
14:46we were mostly
14:47with our grandmother.
14:48Mrs. Harris
14:50says her daughter
14:51has fallen
14:52on hard times
14:53but still
14:54McCole Harris
14:55was trying
14:56to change
14:57her ways
14:57trying to move
14:58back into
14:59a normal life
15:00to get off
15:01the streets
15:02and away
15:02from the drugs
15:03and back
15:04to where she
15:05began
15:05as a mother.
15:07She was working
15:08towards getting
15:09her life together
15:10and coming home.
15:12I said
15:12are you sure?
15:13and she said
15:15yes ma'am
15:15I am.
15:17I know the kids
15:18will be happy.
15:19Knowing that
15:20she was never
15:21able to
15:21rekindle
15:22that stable
15:23relationship
15:24with her children
15:24I'm sure
15:25has continued
15:26to haunt
15:27the whole family.
15:28That's why
15:29it hurts me
15:30so bad
15:30because
15:31she was talking
15:32about coming
15:33home
15:33and being
15:34you know
15:34the person
15:35that I wanted
15:36her to be.
15:37and someone
15:38has decided
15:39to take
15:40her life.
15:41It's incredibly
15:42foul.
15:44Was McColl
15:44employed anywhere?
15:47McColl hung out
15:48at a
15:48labor finder
15:49which is
15:50a day labor
15:51where jobs
15:52go out
15:53they go out
15:53for the day.
15:59So Flable
16:00goes to
16:00labor finders
16:01to see
16:02who knows
16:02McColl Harris.
16:05Some recognize
16:06the name
16:07some seem
16:07to recall
16:08her
16:08but no one
16:10seems to
16:10know her
16:11very well.
16:13So Flable
16:14doesn't really
16:14learn very much.
16:17Sometimes you
16:18pick the wrong
16:19rabbit hole
16:19so you go back
16:21and start
16:21on another one
16:22then we started
16:23looking for Grace.
16:25This is Flable.
16:27The Davis family
16:28reports that
16:28they now know
16:29where Grace
16:30probably is staying.
16:34We learned
16:34that she was
16:35living with a
16:36cousin
16:36out in the
16:37county.
16:39Flable is
16:40thrilled
16:40but at least
16:41he's going to
16:41be able to
16:42finally speak
16:42to Grace
16:43Davis
16:43to find out
16:45perhaps what
16:46is going on
16:47in this mess.
16:49Ma'am I need
16:49to talk to you
16:50about a couple
16:50of incidents
16:51that happened
16:51at your mom
16:52and aunt's
16:52home.
16:54What?
16:54She had no clue
16:55that there was
16:57body parts left
16:58at these locations
16:59at her family's
17:00houses.
17:01Can we go
17:01inside and
17:02talk for a few
17:03minutes?
17:03Flable wants
17:06to know
17:07how Grace
17:08Davis becomes
17:10somehow the
17:11focus of this
17:12murder case.
17:14Body parts?
17:17And the letters
17:18were addressed
17:18to me?
17:19That's correct.
17:21There was a
17:21direct threat
17:22made against
17:23her.
17:24That's going
17:25to scare
17:26anyone half
17:26to death.
17:28Are you
17:29familiar with
17:30anybody named
17:31Nicole Harris?
17:33That was a
17:34big mystery.
17:36Grace is related
17:36to the people
17:37who found
17:38the body parts
17:38but she had
17:39zero connection
17:40to Nicole Harris.
17:42At this moment
17:43Detective Flable
17:44has way more
17:45questions than
17:46he has answers.
17:48She really
17:48didn't know
17:49anything about
17:49what the letter
17:50stated.
17:51Our priority
17:52at the time
17:53was who's
17:54threatening Grace
17:55and her family
17:56and then who
17:57has murdered
17:57someone to
17:58carry out
17:59their threat.
18:01She denies
18:02any knowledge
18:02of enemies,
18:03denies any
18:04knowledge of
18:04Nicole Harris.
18:05She does seem
18:06to be generally
18:07shocked that
18:07this has happened.
18:10We've got to
18:11look at this
18:11a different way,
18:12man.
18:12This is,
18:12we're thinking
18:13way too big.
18:15So we've got
18:15to back up
18:16and we did.
18:17We've let our
18:23work lead us
18:24in the right
18:25direction.
18:26I need to know
18:27where the other
18:28part of her is
18:29and what went on
18:30and why
18:31so I can come
18:33to a closure
18:34and put her to
18:35risk.
18:36Why did they
18:37take my daughter
18:38life like that?
18:39If you know
18:40where the other
18:40part of her body
18:41is, would you
18:42please just
18:43show the police?
18:44The media
18:46helped us
18:47in a way
18:48it got the news
18:49out there.
18:50The entire
18:51city of Greenville
18:52is placed on
18:53the edge
18:53because we have
18:54a dismembered
18:55body,
18:56a killer
18:57on the loose.
18:58It is a topic
18:59of conversation
19:00in Greenville,
19:01South Carolina.
19:03Yeah, it wasn't
19:03long after our
19:04uniformed dispatch
19:05received a call
19:06from the
19:06Nickel Town area.
19:07We have a call
19:08on line one.
19:09Thank you.
19:11Flaval.
19:11A resident
19:14there had
19:14called in
19:15a foul odor
19:17in the neighborhood
19:18and said,
19:18hey, y'all
19:19might want
19:19to come out
19:20here.
19:26When they
19:26get out
19:27of the car,
19:28they're overcome
19:29by the smell
19:30of death.
19:32When you're
19:32a policeman,
19:33you never,
19:35ever forget
19:35the smell
19:36of death.
19:39Behind the
19:40house,
19:40we find
19:40a big
19:41storage container.
19:44That's where
19:45the smell
19:45is coming
19:45from.
19:46The odor
19:46was unbearable.
19:48Disgusting,
19:49to say the least.
19:51They removed
19:52the lid
19:53and up
19:54to the top
19:55of the lid,
19:56it is a
19:57blood and
19:58flesh soup.
20:01Maybe
20:02they have
20:02just found
20:03McCole
20:05Harris.
20:05start Sunday,
20:12the 7th of
20:12September.
20:20It was
20:20disgusting.
20:22We're trying
20:23to come up
20:24with a game
20:24plan on
20:25how are we
20:25going to
20:26attack this
20:26container
20:27because it's
20:28probably,
20:29you know,
20:2980% liquid
20:30at this time.
20:31let's get
20:32this area
20:33roped off
20:33and get
20:35a report
20:35on the
20:36house.
20:37Okay.
20:39Can I help
20:40you with
20:40something?
20:41As they
20:42are examining
20:43this pile
20:44of goop
20:44and this
20:45drum,
20:46the homeowner
20:47arrives,
20:47a woman,
20:48and says,
20:49what are you
20:49doing?
20:50Is that
20:50your container?
20:52Well,
20:52it's behind
20:52my house,
20:53ain't it?
20:53He looks
20:55at her
20:55and says
20:56in his
20:56own head,
20:57did you
20:57kill
20:57McCole
20:58Harris
20:58or
21:00did
21:00someone
21:00in
21:00your
21:01house
21:01do it?
21:03All right,
21:03ma'am,
21:03I need
21:04you to
21:04step back.
21:05This is
21:06an active
21:06crime scene.
21:07So,
21:08y'all
21:09investigating
21:09the death
21:10of a
21:11pig?
21:13Like,
21:13what?
21:15She said,
21:15we had a
21:15pig picking
21:16and we
21:16cleaned
21:17the pig
21:17and I
21:19just put
21:19it in
21:20that
21:20container.
21:21She
21:22has an
21:22explanation
21:23for this
21:23barrel
21:24and
21:24contents.
21:25It might
21:25be true.
21:27It also
21:27might not
21:28be.
21:29We
21:29immediately
21:30stopped
21:30what we
21:30were doing.
21:31We called
21:31for our
21:33forensics
21:33division.
21:36They can
21:37conduct an
21:38immediate
21:38test on
21:38the blood
21:39and tell
21:39you human
21:39or animal
21:40on the
21:40spot.
21:42Yeah,
21:43this is
21:44definitely
21:44a pig.
21:48All right,
21:49let's pack
21:50it up.
21:51Dead ends
21:52are common
21:53in homicide
21:53investigations.
21:55Something
21:55looks so
21:56promising
21:56and it
21:57falls apart.
21:58It goes
21:59through your
21:59fingers like
22:00sand.
22:02It's really
22:02disappointing,
22:03but you
22:04never quit.
22:06You've still
22:07got a
22:08family that
22:09needs answers.
22:15We need a new
22:16step.
22:17There was that
22:18email that was
22:19left on the
22:19threatening
22:19note.
22:21Flable
22:21submitted it
22:22when he
22:22found it
22:22and now
22:23computer
22:24forensics
22:24has a
22:25result.
22:27Call you
22:28back.
22:29I hear you
22:30got something
22:30for me.
22:31Yeah,
22:31there might be
22:32something.
22:34Yeah?
22:35Yeah.
22:36They informed
22:37him a public
22:38use computer
22:39in a library
22:41was used
22:41to send
22:42the email.
22:47Hi.
22:48Hi,
22:48how are you?
22:48What's your
22:49name?
22:49Jessica.
22:50Jessica,
22:51my name's
22:51Detective
22:51Flable.
22:52I need to
22:53know if I
22:53can obtain
22:53some security
22:54footage of the
22:55library for a
22:56case that I'm
22:57working on.
22:57can you help me
22:58obtain them?
22:59Yeah,
22:59I can help you
22:59with that.
23:00Mandy,
23:02can you cover the
23:02desk for me for a
23:03minute?
23:03Of course,
23:04follow me.
23:08There is a gun
23:10because public
23:11libraries have
23:12surveillance cameras.
23:14Okay,
23:15here is the tape
23:16you were asking
23:17about.
23:18Not only did it
23:19give us the address,
23:20but it gave us the
23:20date and time that
23:21this email address
23:22was checked.
23:23He goes and he
23:25sees footage and
23:26he sees an
23:27African-American
23:27couple, man and
23:29woman, using the
23:30computer.
23:32The man is not
23:33anyone that
23:34Flable has ever
23:35seen, and the
23:36woman that's with
23:36him is not
23:38Grace Davis.
23:40What struck me is
23:41he was wearing
23:42gloves.
23:43He's inside the
23:43library, but he's
23:44got all these big,
23:46thick gloves.
23:47He doesn't want to
23:48leave fingerprints on
23:49the keys, as if
23:51that matters.
23:52He's using a
23:53computer that has
23:54its own fingerprint.
23:55So he's typing
23:57this email.
23:57On April the
23:586th, the day
24:00before the body
24:01parts are found,
24:02now we're getting
24:03somewhere.
24:05So who are
24:06these people?
24:07Getting actual
24:08video of the
24:10suspects in the
24:11library at that
24:12date and time gave
24:13us a lot of, a lot
24:14of momentum in our
24:16case.
24:17So now it's time
24:18to bring Grace
24:19Davis in for another
24:20interview and confront
24:23her with this video.
24:39Grace, I need you
24:43to start being honest
24:44with me.
24:46Flabel explains that
24:47this is not going to
24:48go away.
24:49I am not going to
24:51go away.
24:52And we're going to
24:53get to the bottom
24:53of this.
24:56And I said, hey,
24:57do you recognize
24:57these people?
24:59Tell me what's
25:00going on.
25:01Okay.
25:03Look, I know him
25:05and his wife, but I
25:07don't talk to them
25:07anymore.
25:08Who is he?
25:11And she cracks.
25:12She says, the
25:13people on this
25:14tape are Carmen
25:16and Clarence
25:17Jenkins.
25:20We used to live
25:21together and we
25:22used to date.
25:25All three of you?
25:28I got together
25:29with them and we
25:30all fell in love.
25:32I had a sexual
25:32relationship with
25:33Clarence Jenkins.
25:34I also had a sexual
25:36relationship with
25:37Carmen Jenkins.
25:38Okay.
25:39You started
25:41talking about a
25:42triangle situation
25:43where everybody's in
25:44love with everybody
25:45else.
25:46Things can get
25:47enormously complicated.
25:49It was good for a
25:50while until Clarence
25:52started being all
25:53controlling.
25:54She said he's real
25:55controlling and they
25:57can't leave the house.
25:59She says, then I
26:00found out that
26:01Clarence was abusive.
26:03So Clarence's verbal
26:05abuse and weirdness
26:07caused Miss Davis
26:09to come to her senses
26:10to some degree and
26:11to leave these people.
26:13I just knew I had
26:14to get out of there.
26:16So she makes a
26:17decision to leave
26:18and she leaves,
26:21literally walks away.
26:24She left on the
26:2516th of March.
26:26April the 6th, just a
26:27few weeks later, body
26:28parts and threats show
26:30up.
26:30That's remarkable.
26:31So now, who's
26:37Carmen Clarence?
26:38How are you involved
26:39in this?
26:41So we made an attempt
26:42to talk to Carmen and
26:44Clarence Jenkins to find
26:45out what was actually
26:46going on.
26:52Carmen Jenkins?
26:53She immediately says
27:05that they're busy right
27:06now, but they will come
27:08down to the police station
27:09later in the day to
27:11discuss it with them,
27:12her and Clarence.
27:13So we left.
27:16But we had a team of
27:18investigators out there
27:19and we did surveillance.
27:25Minutes after Flable leaves,
27:28their surveillance team
27:29reports that Carmen and
27:31Clarence are carrying
27:32black trash bags from
27:34their trailer to a dumpster.
27:36The very same type that
27:48we found were the
27:49mutilated body parts.
27:55Flable and his partner
27:56return to the dumpster
27:57near the property and look
27:59in the bags that they
28:00threw away.
28:01There were two or three
28:06empty bleach bottles,
28:09ammonia bottles,
28:11carpet cleaning solutions.
28:15Of course, indicative of
28:16somebody cleaning
28:16something up.
28:18Whatever happened to
28:19McCole Harris probably
28:21happened to her in that
28:23trailer.
28:28Detective Flable's
28:30experience tells him that
28:32that crime scene is that
28:33trailer.
28:34He needs a warrant.
28:36He can't get it based on
28:38cleaning supplies.
28:41Throwing those away isn't
28:42against the law.
28:43He needs another way.
28:45Flable.
28:46Flable finds that they
28:48had just entered a traffic
28:50warrant for Clarence's
28:51arrest on his record.
28:53That really was a lucky
28:55break for us and it was
28:57fresh off the press.
28:58There is Flable's way in.
29:08They return with their
29:10search warrant in hand.
29:11Police, open up.
29:12They knock on the door
29:13and Carmen answers it.
29:17Ma'am, I have a warrant for
29:19Clarence Jenkins.
29:20Well, he ain't here right
29:21now.
29:21and Flable looks at her and
29:23says, we're going to search
29:25the premise and if I find
29:27him in here, I'm going to
29:28charge you with harboring a
29:29fugitive.
29:31And she steps aside.
29:34They go in.
29:35The house is disgusting.
29:41It is nasty.
29:42There's pots on the counter with
29:44fungus growing in them.
29:45Obviously, there was no bleach
29:47used and there was no carpet
29:48cleaner used to clean anything
29:50in the house.
29:52In the bathroom and the shower
29:55is like spray painted red.
29:57As I'm clear in the bathroom,
30:01you can see what I suspect to be
30:04blood spatter on the wall.
30:09Aiken goes to the left.
30:11He says, man, there's a hole.
30:13Detective, I got something back
30:15here.
30:16He notices a piece of drywall
30:18that's out of alignment with part
30:19of the wall.
30:20He shines a light in that crack
30:22and who does he see?
30:27Come out on your hands and knees.
30:29Keep your hands where I can see
30:30him.
30:32And there's Clarence Jenkins
30:33hiding behind this piece of
30:35paneling.
30:37Come out of there, Clarence.
30:38You're under arrest.
30:41All right, I'll take him in.
30:43She's going to be charged with
30:44harboring a fugitive.
30:45Copy that.
30:47Let's go.
30:50Now that Detective Flavill
30:52has seen apparent evidence
30:54of a murder,
30:56he's granted a second warrant
30:57to search for evidence
31:00of death in this trailer.
31:03Once we did that search warrant,
31:04forensics came out.
31:06We told them what we observed.
31:07Then they go in,
31:08start processing.
31:10We were looking specifically
31:12for items that would connect
31:15the victim to the trailer
31:17and any potential evidence.
31:22of foul play.
31:25It says light for me,
31:26will you?
31:31That's positive for blood.
31:34When you look into the bathroom,
31:36you could see the wallpaper
31:38was gone.
31:40Inside of the shower stall
31:41was painted.
31:42The floor was painted.
31:43They're trying to cover up blood.
31:47They missed a number of places
31:49which you can see
31:50blood spatter on the walls,
31:52blood spatter on the sink area,
31:54staining everywhere.
31:56I go to the back bedroom.
32:02Found these and that.
32:05There were knives,
32:07swords,
32:09handcuffs in the back bedroom.
32:12We knew we had something
32:14with the knives.
32:15We found something here.
32:27I found a clipboard
32:29and in that clipboard
32:30were typed letters
32:32addressed to the same individuals
32:36where the body parts were sent.
32:38This is a filthy trailer
32:41filled with all sorts
32:42of horrible evidence.
32:44So this is all adding up
32:46to the scene
32:47of the death
32:48of McCole Harris.
32:50But why did
32:51McCole Harris die?
32:53Why was she murdered
32:55and dismembered
32:56for heaven's sake?
32:57And how does it connect
32:59to Miss Davis
33:00and the Jenkins?
33:02That's what they don't know.
33:04So Clarence was
33:11eventually transported
33:12down to the law enforcement center
33:14where I went
33:16and interviewed him.
33:17Look, Clarence,
33:18we know you were involved.
33:20We found the letters,
33:22we found blood,
33:23we even found the trash bags.
33:25It wasn't me.
33:27We had evidence
33:29that she died there,
33:30but it still really
33:31didn't answer
33:32all the questions
33:33that needed to be answered.
33:35It is a bizarre circumstance
33:38in every possible way.
33:41A three-person love triangle,
33:43a dismemberment homicide,
33:46a filthy trailer
33:47filled with overwhelming evidence.
33:51You take the time
33:51to spray paint a bathroom,
33:53you don't throw away
33:54the drafts
33:56of the threatening note.
33:58Absolutely ridiculous.
33:59It's like children
34:00trying to do this.
34:01Not the sharpest knives
34:02in the drawer,
34:03but killers tend not to be.
34:06I want a lawyer.
34:09We still didn't have McCole.
34:11We had McCole's hands and feet,
34:13but we still hadn't found the body.
34:15So, you know,
34:16we really didn't have
34:17any information
34:18to give the family.
34:19I have faith in God,
34:26and I know that
34:26it was going to get solved,
34:29but, I mean,
34:29it was just devastating.
34:31We had a kind of light vigil,
34:34but the thing was,
34:36we still was,
34:38you know,
34:39still going through.
34:41The time,
34:42for me,
34:42it was real hard.
34:50So,
34:50Flabel is organizing
34:51the case
34:52as best he can
34:53so they can
34:54proceed to trial.
34:56During this process,
34:57a year goes by,
34:59and Carmen decides
35:00she wants to talk.
35:03She says,
35:04I want to tell you
35:05what happened.
35:06The prosecutor called
35:08and wanted us to come up
35:09for a meeting
35:10with Carmen
35:11and her attorneys.
35:14Flabel is elated.
35:16We're at the solicitor's office
35:18with her attorneys,
35:19the prosecutors,
35:20and finally,
35:21she's giving us
35:22her confession.
35:25And the conversation begins.
35:28So, the question
35:29Flabel has is simple.
35:31What happened
35:32inside that trailer,
35:33Carmen?
35:34What happened
35:35to Nicole Harris?
35:43Horrors.
35:45A monster came
35:46into our town
35:47and took two little girls.
35:49I love you.
35:50It's never gonna end
35:50until we find out
35:51who did this.
35:53Uncover the truth,
35:54ID's most powerful
35:55documentaries,
35:56starts Sunday,
35:57the 7th of September.
35:58Carmen sits down
36:09with Detective Flabel.
36:10Flabel says,
36:11I want you to tell me
36:12the entire story.
36:13How did all this unfold?
36:15that interview is probably
36:18one of the coldest
36:20interviews I've ever done.
36:22She was
36:23just as cold
36:25as she could be.
36:26She says that Clarence Jenkins
36:29had met Grace Davis
36:31on the street
36:32and brought her
36:33home with him.
36:36When Grace left
36:38her ex-husband,
36:39she ended up
36:39in a women's shelter
36:40for a little while.
36:42So, Clarence offered
36:43for Grace to move in
36:45with him and his wife.
36:47Davis moved
36:48into their trailer
36:49and became sexually
36:50involved with both
36:51of them.
36:54They were all
36:55happily together.
36:57So happily,
36:59they had considered
36:59trying to get married
37:00as a threesome
37:01to somehow
37:02make this official.
37:06So what went wrong?
37:09Things got heated
37:10between Clarence
37:11and Grace.
37:13I guess the dynamic
37:15of it was such
37:15that he was definitely
37:16the one in control
37:18and his personality
37:20wasn't anything
37:21she planned to deal
37:22with on a long-term
37:23basis.
37:25Clarence was
37:26verbally abusive
37:27and it upset
37:28Grace Davis
37:29and she decided
37:30to leave them.
37:31So when Grace left
37:33to make a better
37:34life for herself,
37:35they're like,
37:35you know,
37:35it's the three of us
37:36or none of us.
37:38Clarence was wild.
37:41No one leaves him.
37:44He's going to get her
37:45back at any cost.
37:48Clarence goes to
37:52labor finders.
37:56He notices
37:57Nicole Harris.
38:03Excuse me, miss.
38:06Yes, do I know you?
38:07I need you to come
38:08with me.
38:11He convinces her
38:12he's a policeman.
38:14He puts her in his car
38:15and he drives her
38:16to their trailer.
38:28I thought we were
38:29going to the station.
38:30Give me your hands.
38:34Come on.
38:34Karma says he shows up
38:38with McCole
38:39and she's in handcuffs
38:42and he takes her
38:44straight to this
38:45back room.
38:47Oh, please.
38:48Let me go.
38:49Stop there.
38:51The first plan
38:52Clarence had
38:53was to use
38:55McCole Harris
38:55to make threats.
38:57Please.
38:58He handcuffs her
38:59to a chair.
39:01He makes her
39:02make that phone
39:03call to sue
39:04Bostick.
39:08You tell Grace
39:09she needs to get
39:10her ass back here.
39:11Hello?
39:12Help me.
39:13Help me.
39:13Stop.
39:14Help me.
39:15Help me.
39:16Although she didn't
39:17follow the script
39:18and didn't say much,
39:20which is why Bostick
39:21only heard screaming
39:22and then the line
39:23went dead.
39:23And then what
39:25happened?
39:28The threats
39:28weren't working,
39:30so Clarence
39:30came up with
39:31another idea.
39:34And then
39:35Clarence just
39:36comes up to
39:37Carmen and says,
39:38hey, you've got
39:38to kill that girl.
39:39Here.
39:40Here.
39:42Get on with it.
39:43You don't have to do this.
39:44Please, help me.
39:45Girl, now get on with it.
39:52It's a monstrous
39:53idea.
39:55Clarence Jenkins
39:56is willing to use
39:57the death
39:58of a perfect stranger
39:59as a device
40:01to regain the love
40:03and admiration
40:04of another female.
40:08How sick is that?
40:11How sick can you be?
40:13And Carmen
40:14is a participant
40:15in this crime.
40:17Clarence tells her
40:18to use a piece
40:20of coaxial cable
40:21and strangler.
40:23Carmen goes in there,
40:26puts the coaxial
40:27around Nicole's neck
40:28and tries to
40:29strangle her.
40:31But I wasn't
40:32strong enough,
40:33so Clarence did it.
40:36I can't do it.
40:38Please, I will kill you!
40:40Get out of the way!
40:42So Clarence takes over
40:44and kills her
40:46and kills her
40:46by strangling her
40:47to death.
40:48They then take her
41:00and drag her
41:01into the front bathroom.
41:02Then he takes a machete
41:07and cuts off
41:09her feet
41:09and her hands
41:10with powerful blows
41:15with a very long
41:16sharp blade.
41:18They get like
41:20some garden shears
41:21and he cuts
41:22the toes off.
41:24Then he bags
41:25these parts
41:26in two different bags.
41:27He writes
41:27the threatening letters
41:28that Clarence Jenkins
41:32would devise
41:33such a plan
41:33is beyond monstrous.
41:38If I was so empowered,
41:40I would sit Clarence down
41:42and I would say,
41:43Clarence,
41:43I'm going to stuff you
41:45into a food processor
41:46and press liquefy
41:48and then I'm going to
41:49pour you down
41:50a toilet
41:51because that
41:53is where you belong.
41:55I need to know
41:57where the rest
41:57of McCole's body is.
42:00Carmen gave us
42:02the location
42:02that they actually
42:03dumped McCole Harris' body.
42:06It was out
42:06in a vacant field
42:07and they actually
42:09poured gas on it
42:10and tried to burn it.
42:13Good heavens
42:15for what
42:16the love
42:18and admiration
42:18of a female
42:19around this cell.
42:23She had no emotion.
42:26I mean,
42:26the whole time
42:27it was like
42:28really eerie.
42:34We called
42:35Upstate Search and Rescue
42:36and they brought
42:37their dogs out.
42:42We were unfortunate
42:44that most of that area
42:46had been cut
42:47sometime in that
42:49year and a half
42:50but all in all
42:52we did collect
42:53a number of bones
42:55and there were
42:57eight or ten
42:58different items
42:59of evidence
42:59that we collected.
43:01One of those items
43:02of evidence
43:02being a pair
43:03of garden loppers.
43:05Clarence was tried
43:14for murder.
43:15He was convicted
43:16when he was given
43:16life without parole.
43:19Carmen was originally
43:20sentenced to 50 years
43:22and after her testimony
43:25that sentence
43:26was reduced
43:27to 40.
43:28You just killed
43:29someone just to
43:30play as some
43:31silly game
43:32so
43:34what's enough?
43:37You always think
43:38a dangerous people
43:39is having like
43:40lots of weapons
43:41but really
43:42the most dangerous
43:43people that exist
43:44are those without
43:45empathy
43:45and clearly
43:46Carmen and Clarence
43:48had no empathy
43:49for Nicole Harris.
43:51I just wanted
43:52the world to know
43:53that the tragedy
43:55that happened
43:56is something
43:59you never want
43:59to go through.
44:01My mother would
44:02want this story
44:02to be told.
44:04I got her ashes
44:05and everything
44:05and I keep them
44:06close to me
44:07but
44:08I'm still
44:09dealing with it.
44:11She was a
44:12wonderful person.
44:13She didn't deserve
44:14to go like this.
44:21Detective Flavel
44:23represents
44:23yet another
44:24American detective
44:25whose experience
44:27whose perseverance
44:28unraveled this case
44:30and punished
44:31the people involved.
44:34He used to be
44:35admired for that
44:36along with
44:37every other
44:37American detective
44:38who does
44:39the same thing
44:40every day
44:41and every night.
44:44will not
44:46let her
44:47stop
44:48you
44:53I
44:54have a
44:55little
44:55to
44:56you
45:02have a
45:03thing
45:03you
45:04haven't
