00:32You don't know them personally, but you know who they are by face.
00:35And that's the kind of town it is.
00:37Anybody who's done law enforcement can tell you they've seen it all, but never something like this.
00:47I'm trying not to cry because I carry these victims with me.
00:52It's hard to believe there's actually somebody like this in the community and nobody knew.
00:58To this day, people are still leery about walking out to their car at night.
01:02Some people are just nuts, crazy.
01:05We were the nerds, the losers, the outcasts, the rejects, whatever you want to call it.
01:10It's pretty hard news.
01:13She definitely did not deserve to die that young.
01:17How do you watch somebody take their last breath?
01:21How do you watch the life go out of their eyes?
01:23He threw her away truly like garbage.
01:26Who does that?
01:27How do you watch the life go out of their eyes?
01:28How do you watch the life go out of their eyes?

02:48It felt like he was taking an hour, and it should be a two-minute walk.
02:56He just wasn't showing up.
02:59He took so long, and I was so sick, I actually had dozed off.
03:10When I woke up, Terrence was opening the door, and I was like, what took you so long?
03:16And he was all excited.
03:19He's like, oh, Mom, you're not going to believe what happened.
03:23He said that he seen somebody carrying a girl out of the apartment, and had her wrapped in
03:31a sheet, and like her hair was hanging out, and put her in the trunk of a gray car.
03:37And why would they put a girl in the trunk?
03:40That doesn't make sense.
03:42My son, he's got a great imagination, and he likes to make things up.
03:49He liked to play CSI, would pretend that there was, like, fingerprints, and one of his friends
03:55was a detective, and he would film them.
03:58It was really funny.
03:59I really think if I hadn't been sick like that, I probably would have listened to his story.
04:07I've been working in a grocery store for 20 years.
04:37I'm good with people, and then they come back, and they tell me how good the meat is.
04:44I was on my way to work.
04:50I walked through the parking lot, and I noticed this silver vehicle in the back that's been sitting
04:56there, and nobody in it.
04:59There was a notice that was given to us to be on the lookout for a woman that was missing.
05:11She worked at a local grocery store near us, and she drove a silver Dodge Neon.
05:30There was a silver car in the parking lot of our store, so I told the manager and called the police.
05:38It was a typical night.
05:50We were in briefing, and the call came in at 6.15, and the call said,
05:54We need you to report to the cops' food center.
05:57As we were driving there, dispatch said,
06:01Be advised, the registered owner of the vehicle is listed as missing from Manasha Police Department,
06:09which is a department right next to our city, and the parents are there.
06:15Somebody from their police department confirmed that it was Christina's car,
06:21and then called her parents and said,
06:23Christina's car is at the cops' food center.
06:27You know, you guys can go pick it up.
06:34The shift supervisor was there, and another patrol officer was there.
06:38We walked up to the trunk together, and I saw the parents standing by this car.
06:48I said to the parents, do you have keys to this?
07:00I walked over to the vehicle like the car was here.
07:04Lieutenant Karner opened the trunk.
07:15It was Christina.
07:23Christina's mom said,
07:25It's not her. It's not her.
07:28And I said,
07:30I'm sorry.
07:32I'm sorry.
07:34I just remember the mom breaking down,
07:40and I just grabbed her.
07:43And...
07:44I just grabbed her,
07:50and I hugged her,
07:50and I said,
07:52I'm so sorry this is happening.
07:55I...
07:55I wish I could take your pain away.
08:00I could feel her shaking.
08:02I could almost feel her heart.
08:04That's how hard I was hugging her.
08:06Those are feelings and memories you just don't forget.
08:10I felt rage.
08:11I felt anger for whoever did this to not only a human being,
08:21but their daughter.
08:23A beautiful girl gone.
08:27For what reason?
08:34Police and fire trucks and news trucks arrived.
08:39People were looking and gathering to see what was going on,
08:43and the manager that I told called the police.
08:47He informed me, Mike,
08:49that there was a dead body in that vehicle that you identified.
08:53I didn't know what to think at all.
08:56It's not an everyday occurrence
08:58where you stumble across a car with a dead body in it.
09:13Several of the members of the detective bureau
09:15had gone out after work.
09:17We had just stopped at a local drinking establishment
09:20and had our first beer when the pagers went off.
09:26Pager goes off all the time when you're a detective,
09:28but when mine went off
09:31and then other detectives went off that was with me
09:33and then other detectives went off,
09:35now we know that there's something going on
09:37that needs our attention
09:38because they're not just calling one of us in.
09:43This crime definitely seemed like
09:45it was somebody who knew the victim
09:47in the sense that they left her in a spot
09:50that for sure she would be discovered.
09:53It's almost like they didn't want
09:55to do some of the things that other killers do,
09:58and that's put bodies out
09:59where they're not found for months
10:01and in their various states of decomposition.
10:04They actually put her
10:06where her vehicle would certainly be found.
10:11Typically, to us,
10:13it kind of means that this person
10:14is somebody of interest
10:16that this person knew.
10:20My training had been dealing with informants.
10:23I'm probably the guy
10:23that's not going to find
10:24the hair that solves the crime,
10:26but I will probably find
10:28the guy in the bar
10:30that happened to hear something about it
10:32and hear some information.
10:35The more serious the crime,
10:37the more important it is
10:38that we get it solved.
10:39It's an all-hands-on-deck type of thing.
10:42The search for Christina Ross
10:43ended in the supermarket parking lot in Neenah.
10:46One of Christina's co-workers
10:47noticed her car in the lot
10:49and notified police,
10:50who then contacted Ross' parents.
10:53Officers and her parents
10:55found Christina's body in the trunk
10:57wrapped in a sheet.
10:58Because this is a smaller town
11:00and murders don't happen here,
11:02I've only seen camera crews
11:05at major crime scenes.
11:08So seeing them,
11:10I knew this was going to be a big story.
11:13I'm pretty well connected
11:28because I've been here so long
11:30that people,
11:31they know me.
11:34I can talk to people pretty quick
11:36to try to get answers.
11:37To have a case
11:40where somebody is stuffed
11:42into the trunk of their own vehicle,
11:44it's just unheard of
11:45in a community like this.
11:50The last time
11:51that Christina's parents saw her
11:52was on the Friday night
11:54before they were going to leave
11:55for a trip to go up north
11:56to their cabin.
11:57And it was during that time
12:00while they were up at their cabin
12:01that they tried to touch base with her
12:02by sending text messages,
12:04by calling.
12:04And when they came home
12:08on that Sunday,
12:10that's when they checked
12:11the answering machine
12:12and the light was still flashing
12:15and the messages
12:16had never been listened to.
12:18They became really scared
12:19at that point.
12:21The parents of Christina
12:22contacted Menasha Police Department
12:24to have them start a missing
12:26person's complaint.
12:27And unfortunately,
12:28she was an adult
12:29and had not been missing that long.
12:32Less than 48 hours.
12:33At this point,
12:34they just put out
12:35an attempt to locate.
12:37Christina's parents
12:37put flyers up all over the city.
12:41The body was found
12:42the next day.
12:43I'm at home
12:55eating supper
12:56with my family.
12:58I always just helped my wife
12:59clean up
12:59when the phone call came
13:01by the police department
13:03to come out
13:03and process
13:04a crime scene.
13:08They informed me
13:09that they had found
13:10a body in a car.
13:11The body was
13:15remained in the vehicle
13:16while we transported
13:16from the scene.
13:18The car was brought
13:19to the police department
13:21into the garage area
13:22so we could control
13:24the removal of the body.
13:26The vehicle was unloaded.
13:28The wrecker driver
13:29was informed
13:29not to touch
13:30the exterior of the vehicle
13:31because it may contain
13:32some type of evidence.
13:34The body was removed.
13:35Photographs were taken.
13:36It's important to move fast
13:41because you want to identify
13:43who your suspect is.
13:45If not,
13:46there could be evidence
13:46that could be destroyed.
13:49And being an evidence tech,
13:50I'm always looking
13:51for that one piece
13:52of evidence
13:52the suspect always leaves behind
13:54that will help solve the case.
13:57You never really know
13:58what that piece
13:59is going to be.
13:59I mean,
14:00it may be very trace evidence.
14:02Hair fibers,
14:03clothing fibers.
14:06I use some fluorescent powder
14:10on the exterior of the vehicle
14:11in an attempt
14:12to locate fingerprints on it.
14:14I did a lot of DNA swabs
14:15where people would normally
14:17be touching the vehicle
14:18such as the steering wheel
14:19and the door handles
14:20and the rear view mirror.
14:23A purse,
14:23I'm sure it was Christina's purse,
14:25was thrown in the trunk
14:26of the vehicle.
14:27Some CDs inside the vehicle.
14:30I was looking for something
14:31that did not belong to Christina.
14:34If we found something
14:35that didn't belong
14:35and they would point
14:36toward a possible suspect
14:38in this case,
14:40I was able to identify
14:41the ownership
14:42of most of that property
14:43in there,
14:44it could all belong to Christina.
14:52The medical examiner
14:54reported that the cause
14:55of death
14:55was ligature strangulation.
14:58There was blunt force trauma
14:59to the right side
15:00of the forehead,
15:01hemorrhaging on the right side
15:03of the neck
15:03and the left side of the neck.
15:05There was some petechiae
15:06in her eyes,
15:07which indicates
15:08there's some type
15:09of strangulation happened.
15:10She did a bite
15:11on her lower lip,
15:12which I would think
15:13would be an indication
15:14possibly that maybe
15:15she was having
15:16some difficulty breathing,
15:17I guess it is,
15:18and struggling.
15:21At that time,
15:22we didn't have
15:23any potential leads.
15:24as far as I was concerned
15:26when I left that night,
15:27the world was a suspect.
15:29I took her parents
15:43and brought them back home.
15:45I remember
15:46just driving the car
15:48and praying to God,
15:49literally,
15:50please help me say
15:52the right things
15:53to give them
15:53some sort of peace
15:55or comfort.
15:57I remember saying,
16:00tell me about Christina.
16:03They said she was
16:05a good person.
16:07She treated people
16:08with dignity and respect.
16:11She didn't do drugs.
16:12She didn't drink.
16:13She didn't party.
16:15People can do things
16:17in their lives
16:17that make them
16:19at greater risk
16:20for becoming a victim
16:21of whatever
16:22different crime.
16:24She had zero risk factors.
16:27I kind of felt
16:29responsible.
16:32I wanted her parents
16:34to come away
16:36with some sort of peace,
16:38knowing that
16:39we were going to fight
16:40for Christina
16:41and find out
16:42who did this to her.
16:56I worked
16:58at the gas station.
16:59Hey, Nina.
17:01The gas station job
17:03was pretty fun.
17:05You always got
17:05looped into conversations
17:07all the time.
17:08The police usually
17:09came in for coffee
17:11or to, like,
17:12sit down
17:13and take a break.
17:15Sometimes you'd hear
17:16them talk about
17:17things going on
17:18in the police station.
17:19So that Sunday,
17:21I found out
17:21that somebody
17:22was missing
17:23from Menasha.
17:25Then I heard
17:26it was Christina Ross.
17:30I was very sad
17:31for the parents.
17:34Nina's kind of
17:34a fast-talking town.
17:38Everybody kind of knows
17:39everything right away.
17:43Everybody was
17:44concerned,
17:45worried,
17:46scared.
17:58My house is basically,
17:59like,
18:00Nerd Kingdom.
18:02This is, like,
18:02Game Central.
18:03I remember when
18:06my mom called me.
18:07She's like,
18:08so did you hear
18:09about what had
18:10happened
18:11to Christina?
18:13And I'm like,
18:14what do you mean?
18:15And then she's like,
18:16well,
18:17the police
18:18found her body
18:19in her trunk
18:21of her car.
18:21What?
18:26How?
18:27Why?
18:29When?
18:30What?
18:31What?
18:32It was just
18:33a complete shock.
18:35My mom and her
18:35were working
18:36at the same location,
18:37the same piggly wiggly.
18:38That's how my mother
18:39found out
18:40what had happened
18:42to Christina.
18:44Christina was always
18:45just such a sweetheart.
18:48Christina was always
18:48just so nice
18:50to everybody.
18:54Christina and I
18:55met in high school.
18:56We all had
18:58a little clique.
18:58We were the
18:59nerds,
19:01the losers,
19:01the outcasts,
19:02the rejects,
19:03whatever you want
19:03to call it.
19:04The not cool people
19:05is what we were.
19:09Christina could be
19:10a little too trusting.
19:12She had a thing
19:13about her
19:14where she just
19:14liked to take care
19:16of people,
19:17like a motherly
19:19instinct kind
19:20of a thing
19:20with her.
19:31The more serious
19:32the crime,
19:32the more important
19:33it is that we get
19:34it solved,
19:35and especially
19:35something of this
19:36nature.
19:37On the onset,
19:38you don't know
19:38whether you're dealing
19:39with a serial killer
19:40or this is a friend
19:41of the victim
19:41or what it is.
19:44One of the first
19:44places that we went
19:45was to Christina's work
19:48and we discovered
19:50through her colleagues
19:52that she had worked
19:53there for a while
19:54and everybody seemed
19:55to respect her.
19:56There was some
19:57communication
19:58to the investigative team
20:00that she was exploring
20:01internet dating
20:02and they were concerned
20:03because she was a caring
20:04person and they thought
20:05that maybe she could be
20:07easily taken advantage
20:08of.
20:10Christina's parents
20:10said that she does
20:11have some friends
20:12at the Piggly Wiggling
20:13that she shares stuff
20:14with and one
20:15of the people
20:16that she shared
20:17a lot with
20:17was an older lady
20:18by the name of Connie.
20:20Connie shared
20:21with investigators
20:22that Christina
20:23really wanted
20:24to have a boyfriend.
20:25There were a couple
20:26boys that had worked
20:28at that grocery store
20:29that were interested.
20:31One guy in particular,
20:32Peter,
20:32who worked
20:32in the accounting
20:33department
20:33and he was this
20:35kind of nerdy guy,
20:36kind of a,
20:37he was a bookkeeper
20:38there and he was like,
20:41I was close with her,
20:42I knew her,
20:43but he denied
20:44that there was
20:45any kind of a,
20:46you know,
20:47a romantic relationship.
20:49It was just a friendship.
20:50That's what he said.
20:51There was not
20:51a boyfriend to hers.
20:54After we had spoken
20:55with Peter,
20:56we had determined
20:56that he was being
20:57truthful about his
20:58relationship with her.
21:00Peter indicated
21:01that there was someone
21:02by the name of Rusty
21:03that Christina
21:04had been dating.
21:05She was going to go over
21:06to speak with Rusty
21:08or see Rusty
21:08at 11 o'clock
21:10that weekend.
21:11We needed to go
21:12start looking at Rusty.
21:15That's how we investigated
21:16to start with
21:16the last person
21:17that would have
21:18seen Christina alive.
21:32How did somebody
21:33get murdered
21:34and put into a trunk
21:35of a vehicle
21:36and left there?
21:37And why would somebody
21:38do this?
21:39It was a talk of the town.
21:41Everybody in the community
21:42was very concerned.
21:44Do I got to worry
21:45is somebody going to come
21:45in and attack me?
21:47I shop at that store.
21:49Is there a chance
21:50that I could be a victim?
21:51I mean,
21:51that's what people
21:52are asking.
21:53It's hard to believe
21:54there was actually
21:54somebody like this
21:56on the street
21:57in the community
21:58and nobody knew.
22:01The person that would
22:02do something like that
22:03is somebody
22:04I wouldn't want to know.
22:06Some people are just stupid,
22:08nuts, crazy.
22:10Now everyone's shaken up
22:11and concerned about
22:12getting done with work
22:14late and somebody
22:15lurking in the parking lot.
22:19To this day,
22:20people are still leery
22:21about walking out
22:22to their car at night.
22:26You know,
22:26we're supposed to be
22:27the guardians of the city.
22:29You know,
22:29we're supposed to be
22:30the ones that protect people.
22:33I didn't feel like
22:34I could do very much
22:35as a patrol officer,
22:37but I tried to keep in contact
22:38with Christina's parents.
22:41I can completely understand
22:43why they don't want
22:44to tell the story
22:47because they're having
22:47to relive it.
22:49And they probably relive it
22:50every single day anyways
22:52because that's how trauma works.
22:56We would only talk
22:58about the good things,
22:59the good memories of Christina.
23:02They needed somebody
23:03to be compassionate.
23:05They wanted to be angry
23:06and they deserve to be angry.
23:08But they weren't angry.
23:10They were just broken.
23:13Just broken.
23:14At 10 p.m.,
23:34we went over
23:34to the residence
23:35of Rusty Luck.
23:36When we arrived
23:37at the apartment,
23:38there was a male
23:39that answered the door
23:40and he identified himself
23:41as Rusty Luck.
23:43He was a white male,
23:45thin, in his early 20s,
23:47looking like your typical
23:48video gamer.
23:50We told Rusty
23:51that we had found
23:52the body of Christina Ross.
23:54Rusty seemed to be
23:55very concerned.
23:56When we asked him
23:57where he was at that time,
23:59he indicated that
24:00he first arrived
24:01at the apartment
24:01on Saturday morning
24:03at approximately 10.30
24:05and he was only there
24:05for 15 minutes
24:06to get his vest for work.
24:11Rusty had indicated
24:12that he liked Christina
24:14but didn't know exactly
24:15where it was going to go.
24:17She had come to visit him
24:18at his place of employment
24:19two or three times recently.
24:22I asked him how long
24:23he had been living there.
24:24He said that he had been
24:24staying there
24:25at the apartment
24:26with a friend
24:27by the name of TJ
24:28for approximately a month.
24:33I knew Rusty very little.
24:37I knew him mainly
24:39because of friends
24:40of friends,
24:41not really that him
24:42and I were friends.
24:44But TJ and I
24:45met middle school.
24:48Him and I were
24:48like best friends.
24:52Christina and TJ dated
24:53for three, four months
24:56back in high school.
24:58It was sweet.
25:00It was kind of short-lived.
25:02I guess they just
25:03didn't really have
25:05much of a common ground.
25:06Yeah, they had an attraction
25:09but I think that's
25:10as far as that really went.
25:17Thank you.
25:18You're welcome.
25:19I graduated high school
25:21in Menasha.
25:22I didn't know TJ
25:24in high school.
25:25I met TJ
25:26a couple years later.
25:28Me and TJ got an apartment
25:30because I was pregnant.
25:33And then
25:34one of TJ's friends,
25:36Rusty,
25:37wanted to get an apartment
25:38and we wanted a roommate
25:40so we got an apartment.
25:42We shared it with Rusty.
25:45TJ didn't have a job
25:47so it was basically
25:48me and Rusty
25:49paying all the bills.
25:52People would come over
25:53for a little bit,
25:55hang out and leave.
25:55games,
25:57talking,
25:58joking around.
25:59That's pretty much
26:00what it was.
26:02Christina would come around
26:04to our house
26:05and hang out with Rusty.
26:07I know that
26:08Christina and TJ
26:09talked a lot
26:11but I don't know
26:13what about.
26:14one time
26:16I was at work
26:17at the gas station
26:18and TJ called me
26:20and said that
26:21Christina
26:22was at the apartment
26:24and she would not leave.
26:26I was angry
26:27that she was there.
26:28Sometimes
26:29she would come around
26:30when I wasn't home
26:31and I got upset.
26:34So I get back
26:35to the apartment
26:36and Christina
26:37was sitting there
26:38and I just kind of
26:39looked at her
26:39and was like,
26:40you need to leave
26:41now
26:42and don't come back.
26:46I don't know,
26:47it was just
26:47the worst thing
26:48I guess.
26:51That's the last thing
26:52that I said to her
26:53and it wasn't
26:56very nice.
26:58That haunts me.
27:09When he was questioned
27:10the night
27:11that the body
27:11was discovered
27:12Rusty stated
27:14that when he arrived
27:15at the apartment
27:16on Saturday morning
27:17his roommate
27:19TJ Blake
27:20was playing
27:21video games
27:21with a 14 or 15
27:23year old
27:23juvenile male
27:24named Billy Duncan.
27:26I asked Rusty
27:28how he knew
27:29Billy Duncan
27:30and he said
27:30that Billy Duncan
27:31was dating his sister.
27:33We were trying
27:33to determine
27:34how all these people
27:35were connected
27:35that seemed to hang
27:36out at that apartment.
27:37Billy always came over
27:44and was playing games.
27:46I saw Billy a lot.
27:48I mean,
27:48he was always over.
27:50For me,
27:51I was full-time
27:52so I was doing
27:5340 hours a week.
27:54So,
27:55I was gone
27:56most of the day.
27:58So,
27:59at the apartment
27:59Rusty
28:00explained that
28:01he was gone
28:02working
28:03all day Saturday
28:04when we think
28:06Christina
28:06was murdered.
28:08When he tried
28:09to come back
28:09to the apartment
28:10later that Saturday night
28:11he discovered
28:12that he was locked out.
28:14So then he spent
28:15the night
28:15at his mom's house
28:17and came back
28:18on Sunday
28:19and he was still
28:21locked out.
28:22He then went
28:23to work that day.
28:24He returned back
28:25to his mother's house.
28:26On Monday
28:27when he went back
28:28being locked out again
28:29he had contacted
28:30his landlord
28:31to try to get keys
28:33to get access
28:34to the apartment.
28:35There certainly
28:36is a vibe
28:38that you can get
28:39from somebody
28:39especially when
28:40they're youthful.
28:41It seemed to us
28:42that Rusty
28:43had created this story
28:45that he had been
28:45locked out.
28:53Oh, yeah,
28:54you're a baby,
28:55aren't you?
28:56On Tuesday morning
28:57I was standing
28:59in the living room
29:00and watching the news
29:02and I had seen
29:04that they found
29:05a girl's body
29:05in the trunk
29:06of a gray car
29:07around the corner
29:08at the grocery store.
29:10And then my son
29:12Terrence's
29:13school principal
29:14called me
29:15and she told me
29:16that Terrence
29:17is unable
29:18to function
29:18in school.
29:20And I was like,
29:22what do you mean
29:22he can't function
29:23in school?
29:24And she said,
29:25he's saying
29:25that he had witnessed
29:26something
29:27and it was bothering him
29:28and he wasn't able
29:29to keep up
29:30with the class
29:30and participate.
29:32I was kind of
29:33standing in my living room
29:34there,
29:35seeing it on the news
29:36or the cop car
29:37out there,
29:38I'm getting a phone call
29:39at the same time.
29:40I was kind of
29:41connecting all this
29:42together.
29:43Then it hit me
29:44like a ton of bricks
29:45that I think
29:47my son may have been
29:49a witness
29:49to this girl
29:51being carried out
29:52of the apartment.
29:56I don't even think
29:56I grabbed my purse.
29:57I grabbed my car keys
29:59and I was out the door.
30:01I thought my son
30:02could be in danger.
30:07Girl on bro.
30:08The apartment complex
30:22honestly was quiet.
30:25I liked it there.
30:28I was friends
30:29with all the neighborhood
30:30kids.
30:31You know,
30:31I learned how to ride
30:31my bike
30:32for the first time there.
30:35The detectives came
30:36and visited me
30:37at my elementary school
30:39and I remember
30:42I was really nervous
30:43because I had talked
30:44to my mom
30:44a little bit about it
30:45and she didn't
30:46really believe me.
30:48Having to talk
30:49to someone of authority
30:50at such a young age,
30:52that's like a lot
30:53of pressure on me.
30:54I had ran into
30:56two men walking out
30:58of that apartment complex
31:00we lived in.
31:01They lived right
31:02across the hall
31:03and I had held
31:05the door open for them
31:06and they had
31:08something wrapped up
31:09in a bed sheet
31:10and then they had
31:11gone to the trunk
31:12of a silver car.
31:14When they were
31:15taking her out
31:16I had seen her feet
31:18and I think she had
31:19sandals or something on.
31:21Some hair was sticking out
31:22so I knew it was
31:23a woman or a lady.
31:26I just was a kid
31:28in wrong place,
31:29wrong time
31:29or right place,
31:30right time.
31:31I don't know.
31:31The neighbor's statement
31:35of what he had saw
31:37was incredibly important.
31:40That witness statement
31:41was very convincing
31:43but I'm not sure
31:44if the district attorney
31:45would want to call
31:46a five-year-old
31:46if he absolutely
31:47didn't have to.
31:48If the whole case
31:49was based on
31:50a five-year-old
31:51I don't think
31:51it would lead
31:51into a conviction.
31:53The strongest piece
31:54of evidence
31:55typically is a confession.
31:57At this point
31:58we decided to go
31:59start looking at Stacy
32:01because she lived
32:02at that apartment.
32:03I knew Stacy
32:05and I do recall
32:05her working
32:06at the mobile gas station
32:08that we used to frequent
32:09and get coffee
32:10all the time
32:11so I did have
32:12a relationship with her
32:13in the sense
32:13that I knew
32:14who she was.
32:21The police showed up
32:31and they told me
32:33that I needed
32:35to go down
32:35to the police station
32:37because they needed
32:39to talk about
32:40Christina Ross.
32:42So at that point
32:44I'm panicking
32:45and freaking out
32:47and like
32:48oh my god
32:48what is going on?
32:50And they're like
32:51just have a seat
32:52and I'm like
32:54who are we waiting for?
32:56Like what is going on?
32:58I start hearing
32:59voices talking
32:59and I just remember
33:02seeing investigator
33:03Trangoli
33:04turn the corner
33:05look at me
33:07I look back
33:09oh I'm in trouble.
33:13He goes
33:14we need to talk
33:15now.
33:17The witness
33:17had seen two males
33:19taking the body
33:20downstairs
33:20not a female
33:22but Stacey
33:22could have been
33:23involved in this
33:24we need to know
33:25who it was
33:26involved with
33:27the concealing
33:27of her body
33:28and helping
33:29dispose of it.
33:31They're interview
33:31techniques
33:32that don't have
33:33to be coercive
33:34we don't necessarily
33:35give up
33:36all the information
33:37at first
33:38show all of our
33:39cards if you will.
33:41Trangoli
33:42sits down
33:43he says
33:44I know
33:47what happened
33:49got out of control
33:50I know you didn't
33:51mean for this
33:51to happen
33:52somebody
33:53saw
33:55you guys
33:56carry the body
33:56out
33:57and they saw
33:58a woman
33:58with a ponytail
33:59and they saw
34:01the blanket
34:01wrapped
34:02around the body
34:03and put it
34:05in the trunk
34:05I want you
34:08to tell me
34:08what happened
34:09how it got
34:10out of control
34:10I lose it
34:14at this point
34:14I didn't do it
34:16I don't know
34:16what's going on
34:17I said
34:18I was at work
34:19I don't know
34:20what happened
34:21after I was
34:22done working
34:22I said
34:24we had it here
34:24and we've been
34:25here set
34:25we bring Billy
34:31in for questioning
34:32he originally
34:33was not
34:34cooperating
34:35with us
34:35and we knew
34:36that he wasn't
34:36telling the truth
34:37a young person
34:39they're not as
34:40hardened
34:40if you will
34:41and you tell him
34:42that you need
34:43the truth
34:43and eventually
34:44it'll come around
34:45so Billy Duncan
34:47indicated that
34:48Christina Ross
34:49was in that apartment
34:50at approximately
34:52noon that day
34:53he provides information
34:55that he was
34:55at the apartment
34:56he was playing
34:57video games
34:58and left
35:00right around
35:00six o'clock
35:01so now
35:03we knew that
35:03based on
35:04Billy's own statement
35:05that Christina
35:07was at that apartment
35:09and we knew
35:10based on the neighbor's
35:11statement
35:11that a few hours
35:12later a body
35:13was seen
35:13potentially leaving
35:15so that immediately
35:18gave us information
35:20that Billy was
35:21involved in this
35:22that he knew
35:23that something
35:23was going on
35:24and he was there
35:25when this homicide
35:26took place
35:26I explained
35:27that we need
35:28to know the facts
35:29about what had
35:30actually happened
35:30at that apartment
35:31in Neenah
35:32how stupid
35:33can you play
35:33that you had
35:34headphones on
35:35and that you're
35:36watching games
35:37and you never
35:38saw anything
35:38and a murder
35:39happens
35:39and the body
35:40is taken out
35:40right in front
35:41of you
35:41and you never
35:42saw a darn thing
35:42basically
35:43you have a very
35:44very serious
35:45crime here
35:46and the time
35:46to stop lying
35:48was now
35:49so investigators
35:52are not buying
35:53Billy's story
35:54so they tell him
35:55we have a witness
35:56that saw you
35:57carrying the body
35:58out with another
35:59person
36:00they ask Billy
36:01who was that
36:02other person
36:03was it Rusty
36:05or was it TJ
36:06if I could have
36:16stopped this murder
36:17and I would have
36:18whether it would
36:20have costed me
36:21my life
36:21I would have
36:22made sure
36:23Christina lived
36:23I'm not really
36:28an angry person
36:29it's just
36:30it's a touchy
36:33subject
36:33I thought
36:36it was over
36:36but I found
36:38out I'm
36:38not over it
36:39not over
36:41what happened
36:41I
36:43I was brought
36:46in by the
36:47investigators
36:47and they asked
36:48me questions
36:49about Christina
36:51I told them
36:52that her parents
36:54called me
36:56the night before
36:56asking me
36:57where Christina
36:59was
37:00I didn't know
37:01I didn't know
37:08what to think
37:09I was in shock
37:12I was in shock
37:12at why detectives
37:13questioned me
37:14about killing her
37:15I couldn't sleep
37:17for days
37:17I couldn't eat
37:19I couldn't work
37:20I took work off
37:22so I could process
37:25what was happening
37:26I dated Christina
37:28for about a month
37:30and it was great
37:32Christina was beautiful
37:34not just physically
37:36but her personality
37:38Christina knew
37:40how to make you laugh
37:41the last time
37:47I saw Christina
37:48was with TJ
37:49I remember hearing
37:51Stacey
37:52you know
37:53yelling at Christina
37:54and Christina
37:56really never told me
37:57what the argument
37:58was about
37:59I think it was
38:01about how
38:01you know
38:02TJ and Christina
38:03had a fling
38:04while TJ
38:07was dating
38:07Stacey
38:08but TJ
38:10always swore
38:11nothing was going
38:11on
38:12between them
38:13I had a feeling
38:16there was
38:17but
38:18I think Christina
38:20was infatuated
38:21with TJ
38:22because of
38:24the way
38:24he was able
38:25to manipulate
38:25people
38:26anybody
38:27I basically
38:35confronted
38:35Billy
38:36with the facts
38:37and he
38:39immediately
38:39started
38:40discussing it
38:41he confessed
38:42to the fact
38:43that he was there
38:44that TJ Blake
38:45had been
38:46involved with her
38:47they had gone
38:48into a different room
38:49and then
38:50he was called
38:51in later
38:52and he was
38:52asked by TJ Blake
38:54to help him
38:54get her body
38:55out of the apartment
38:56and this was
38:58the first
38:59piece of evidence
39:00where somebody
39:00said they were
39:01directly involved
39:02with the concealing
39:03of her body
39:04and helping
39:04dispose of it
39:05we had gotten
39:08the search warrant
39:09to gather more
39:10evidence
39:10in their
39:11apartment
39:12and I found
39:13a ammo box
39:15that had
39:16a diary in it
39:17that was detailing
39:19some very graphic
39:20sexual in nature
39:22homicidal thoughts
39:23there was a journal
39:25entry that was
39:26dated 1028
39:27of 04
39:28saying it's her
39:29birthday
39:29what makes up
39:30the human
39:31conscience
39:31hope
39:32despair
39:33love
39:34hate
39:34fear
39:34loathing
39:35nobody knows
39:36my thirst
39:37for killing
39:38won't go away
39:39I know they
39:40will use this
39:40against me
39:41someday
39:41TJ was arrested
39:45he was transported
39:46back to
39:47Winnebale
39:48County Jail
39:48to await
39:49being charged
39:50by the district
39:51attorney's office
39:51so what they
39:53tell him is
39:53that Billy
39:54already spilled
39:55the beans
39:55he's already
39:56confessed
39:56so you need
39:58to tell us
39:58what happened
39:59and that's
40:00when TJ
40:01came out
40:01and basically
40:02confessed
40:02to killing
40:04Christina
40:05at that point
40:07TJ
40:07had described
40:08the fact
40:08that she
40:09had come
40:09over
40:10that at
40:11one point
40:11he had
40:12put a
40:13extension cord
40:14around her
40:14neck
40:15and basically
40:17strangled her
40:18until he knew
40:19she was dead
40:19he indicated
40:21that he had
40:22taken her body
40:23and put it
40:24into her car
40:24driven her car
40:26over to the
40:27grocery store
40:27parking lot
40:28and that he
40:29had walked back
40:30and thrown
40:30the keys
40:31in the garbage
40:31basically
40:32nothing had
40:33ever happened
40:33and he was
40:34kind of stoic
40:35about that
40:35he also
40:37indicated that
40:38Billy was not
40:39involved in the
40:40actual killing
40:41of Christina
40:41but that he
40:42had basically
40:43helped him
40:44dispose of the
40:45body
40:45he wanted to
40:47make it very
40:47clear that
40:48Stacey was not
40:49involved in this
40:50his girlfriend
40:50or that Rusty
40:52was not involved
40:53in any way
40:53shape or form
40:54police say the
40:5520 year old man
40:56is charged with
40:56hiding a corpse
40:57and first degree
40:58intentional homicide
40:59all that's missing
41:01is a motive
41:02TJ actually
41:11said that he
41:12wanted to know
41:13what it was like
41:13to kill somebody
41:14so it's a very
41:15graphic confession
41:16he indicates that
41:17this was not
41:18a sexual
41:20incident that
41:21went haywire
41:21that wasn't
41:22accidental
41:23that he fully
41:24intended to
41:25strangle the
41:26victim
41:26he wraps
41:27an extension cord
41:28around her neck
41:29and starts
41:30choking her
41:31she starts
41:32screaming a little
41:32bit so he puts
41:33his hand over
41:34her mouth
41:34and then
41:35chokes her
41:36for 30 minutes
41:37just to make
41:38sure that
41:39she dies
41:40in my mind
41:41he was very
41:42sociopathic
41:43all the signs
41:44of a person
41:45that is
41:46manipulative
41:47that uses
41:48people
41:48and in this
41:49case
41:49the ultimate
41:50use of a
41:51person
41:52got her in
41:52that room
41:53and killed
41:54her
41:54so I covered
41:56the initial
41:57court appearance
41:57and he just
41:59seemed really
41:59weird in court
42:00you know
42:01he wasn't too
42:02bothered
42:02by the situation
42:04that he was just
42:04brushing it off
42:05I mean these
42:07aren't typical
42:07reactions that
42:08you see
42:09from somebody
42:10who makes
42:11an initial
42:11court appearance
42:12on murder
42:12charges
42:13this guy
42:14showed no
42:14remorse at all
42:15in the courtroom
42:16it was almost
42:18like he was
42:18slightly giddy
42:19TJ said he did it
42:35because there were
42:36demons in him
42:37and that it was
42:38out of his
42:39control
42:39which is just
42:41really really
42:42sickening
42:43you could easily
42:45speculate that TJ
42:46Blake would have
42:46went on to kill
42:47other people
42:47and might have
42:49been notorious
42:50as a serial killer
42:51in our state
42:52or somewhere else
42:53but it's great
42:54that the first
42:55time that he was
42:56involved in this
42:56type of situation
42:57was his last
42:58there's no way
42:59he'll be out
43:00ever
43:00a case like that
43:03it doesn't leave
43:05you
43:05it stays with
43:07you forever
43:07and I feel
43:09like I've carried
43:10Christina
43:11with me
43:12I feel like
43:14she's like a
43:15guardian angel
43:15how do you
43:17watch somebody
43:18take their last
43:19breath
43:19and you're
43:20the cause
43:20of it
43:21how do you
43:21do that
43:22how do you
43:23watch the life
43:24go out of
43:24their eyes
43:25after everything
43:27with TJ
43:27I felt
43:28disgusted
43:29pissed off
43:30this is the
43:32father of your
43:33child right
43:33yep
43:34this is
43:35my babe
43:39my
43:39person I've been
43:42with for three
43:43years
43:43everything is just
43:46gone
43:46it's probably the
43:51most heartbreaking
43:52thing that's
43:52happened in my life
43:53and it's changed
43:55me
43:55it's made me less
43:57trustworthy of anybody
43:58if your best friend
44:00can do it
44:01who else
44:02I can't
44:05really
44:06know
44:07what her parents
44:09went through
44:09I just know
44:11that I can
44:12sympathize
44:12going to be a
44:14dad myself
44:14soon
44:15my little girl
44:16is on the way
44:17it's just
44:18very
44:19very hard
44:20to swallow
44:21that it was
44:23one of my
44:23closest friends
44:25that did
44:27something like
44:27that
44:27and I still
44:29to this day
44:30can't understand
44:33why
