08 October - National Evening Forecast presented by Clare Nasir
Transcript
00:00High pressure is with us through into the weekend and for next week as well.
00:05It doesn't mean to say it's all sunny skies, there will be a fair amount of clouds.
00:09In fact, for the next few days, weather France will continue to skirt in from the Atlantic
00:14with low pressure sitting well to the north of Scotland.
00:16A breezy set of days as well in the north before high pressure builds from the south,
00:21extends northwards and what that means, lighter breezes into the weekend across the bulk of
00:26the country away from Shetland as well as Orkney. Some brighter breaks are likely some sunshine but
00:32by night we could see some mist and fog patches rather chilly. For the time being, it's a slightly
00:37different story. A weather front straddles northern and western parts of Scotland bringing outbreaks
00:42of rain. It's quite persistent across the northwest highlands and a strong wind here as well. Elsewhere,
00:47some clearer skies but the cloud will thicken all the while towards southern Scotland, the far north
00:52of England as well as Northern Ireland and notice this weather front even though it's weakening,
00:55it will still produce some patchy rain and drizzle for the likes of Glasgow, even Belfast towards the
01:00early hours of the morning and Carlisle. Towards the north, we'll see some clearer skies and a strong
01:05wind further south under clearer skies and a light breeze. Watch out for some mist and fog patches
01:10and it's going to turn chilly as well, so a colder start to the day here. At least though,
01:14there will be some sunshine coming through. Through the morning, it's damp across the central belt first
01:19thing but this rain and drizzle is pushing southwards. Watch out on higher routes though,
01:23lots of low clouds shrouding the hills, poor visibility at that and certainly some damp dampness
01:29in the air across Northern Ireland, northwest England, the far south of Scotland around lunchtime.
01:33Through the afternoon, brighter skies anywhere from Aberdeenshire down towards Lothians and a similar
01:38situation mid Wales, Midlands down towards the southeast. In between, a bit more cloud and certainly
01:43more cloud across western Scotland through the afternoon and some spits and spots of rain in the
01:48breeze. Temperatures then in shelter across the east there, 17 Celsius, 19 for London, 18 for mid Wales
01:55as well as Birmingham and 16 for Northern Ireland, particularly for Belfast where that cloud will
02:00just come and go. Here's your outlook through Friday. A fair amount of cloud yet again, however,
02:05the cloud will break at times allowing for some brighter weather and that pretty much sets the scene
02:10for the weekend. For more details on our 10-day trend this week, it's with Honour. Check it out on YouTube later.
