00:33Do you know how fast we're going?
00:35It's scary when stuff like this happens.

01:01I'm going home.
01:02Stop grabbing me like that!
01:07It's crash, crash, crash!

01:31A young rider.
01:33You're a lucky boy, so let it be a lesson to you.
01:36In a potentially lethal crash.
01:38Just one silly mistake, and that could have been the end of it for him.
01:43And a drunk suspect.
01:45Causing trouble.

02:10Where's that?
02:11Air from foot, well, waiting to the large knife?
02:14Yes, mate.
02:16PC Craig Dawes is one of Derbyshire's longest-serving traffic officers.
02:21He's starting a 12-hour day shift, reviewing evidence from a recent arrest.
02:26we've located bolt cutters grinders a signal jammer that allows them to unlock the car so
02:33you know they know what they're doing they're going well equipped
02:35i've been with the force for over 20 years
02:41to be a police officer it's changed a lot over my time
02:45obviously it's more risky you'll be committed you've got to have thick skin i think as well
02:55hey up david just remember we're all one team david all one team i'm ready for duty
03:03i get to see a big variety and a big area of police and there's nothing really happens the same each
03:15day each day is different
03:18observations on a unit so we know any of the m1 it's got a clone vehicle
03:27right units can start making their way to the area
03:29hey from one nine yeah if i do cite this vehicle my plan will just be to follow i'm unmarked
03:36so i'll just keep getting a commentary until i get other units or resources around
03:42near derby a suspected stolen range rover is on the move
03:46observations for a cloned vehicle
03:49using fake number plates to copy the identity of a legitimate vehicle
03:54what song was it 11 18 the genuine is a purple range rover the clone is actually great yeah what
04:02my range rover is sport svr
04:06well a confirmed clone that's just hit up it's made off from local officers yesterday
04:18so we're just trying to uh see if just it yeah receive yes yes sorry uh northbound
04:26the outside lane
04:27and i am on the overreach trying to spot it um traffic is a little bit heavy so uh
04:32so we've got to try and gamble and also watching the exit slip
04:36when you're out looking for these vehicles where you're able to you know pinpoint where
04:42they are you do get your butterflies the adrenaline does get going and it's will it won't it will
04:48it won't it you know will it come towards you will it go somewhere else
04:51what's that there that could be it in lane four i think i've got it
04:58and a tango 19 it's committed committed
05:08yes yes confirmed um sighting of it
05:15it's doing about seven five it's being held as craig tails the suspect more units are on their
05:25way if we manage to get behind them you know they're in a stolen vehicle high performance
05:31and their main aim is to get away and we've got to weigh up the risk it's something we have to take
05:38very serious but once they get wind of you behind them they're going to go
05:42it's lane four but it's got a clear run it's lane three it's lane three seven zero
05:51it's uh lane two
05:54it's lane one standby it's off off off it's off off off
06:01approaching the roundabout
06:03up ahead as the suspects leave the motorway another officer takes over the pursuit
06:16with the range rover slowing down
06:45four by four do you want to go in front of me with the extra size
06:48the officers move in to surround the car
06:53the runner
06:59as the driver tries to get away
07:13a member of the public intervenes
07:16a member of the public took him out for us

07:44you all right?
07:45you all right?
07:46you all right?
07:46you all right?
07:46up you get
07:46hey top man
07:50i'm gonna look after this line
07:52thank you for one nine
07:54well i've got member of the public
07:57who's uh slightly injured
07:59slightly injured, but that's for his heroics for us, his rugby tackling for us, so he needs
08:06a massive thank you.
08:11The kit that we carry does make it difficult when we're out chasing.
08:16Just sit at silent road.
08:18Normally the people that we're chasing are in trainers and tracksuits, you know, they're
08:23not running in boots, carrying a stab vest, taser and all equipment, so it does make it
08:28very, very difficult.
08:31Yeah, I could see your colleague weren't getting on him, I mean, I saw him gesturing, I thought
08:36I'd better do it.
08:37It's fantastic, well done, not many like you.
08:41I just saw an impact on my face, like I said, I don't know if I hear you.
08:46You used to play rugby?
08:47Years ago.
08:48I'll show you what that was.
08:50Right, let's have a look at this.
08:55It's been brought before.
08:56Right, that sounds certainly not broken now, you've got an abrasion across the top, it's
09:00a bit like you've scraped something, if I'm honest, because you took the top of the skin
09:03off.
09:06There we go.
09:07Yeah, I think I'm good now, yeah.
09:08You're good.
09:08I'm all right.
09:09You're feeling well in yourself?
09:10Yeah, yeah, I just should put that, so.
09:12No, no other obvious, I can't see any other other injury, you've got no other sort of pain.
09:17No, just like I say, I think it was mostly necklaces.
09:19Well, you're covered in them, to be honest.
09:21A second suspect remained in the cloned car, and is arrested.
09:26I'm going to search, is there anything on you yet?
09:28It's going to hurt me or you?
09:29Are you sure?
09:31Okay.
09:32I'm going to put your hood down, mate, so I can see what's in your hoods.
09:40Traffic cop Adam Shipley is searching for evidence.
09:43Those are the original plates, and they've basically cloned it to look like another grey,
09:53purpley Range Rover.
09:55So they've gone in through the fuse wire, managed to bypass all the security of it.
10:02They obviously know what they're doing.
10:04They know what they're doing.
10:06I'll follow you back down.
10:07Brilliant.
10:07Brilliant.
10:13With the stolen car recovered, Craig returns to custody to process the suspects.
10:26So this gentleman has been arrested for driving while disqualified, possession of the controlled
10:32substance, failed to stop, theft of motor vehicle, and dangerous drive.
10:37It's his first time he's ever been to Derbyshire.
10:42I believe so, ain't it?
10:46What did you do for work, yeah?
10:48I'm only going to put it in a minute.
10:49I've seized that.
10:50I'll have a look in there for you.
10:53That's clear.
10:57There's his phone size.
10:59I'm just going to go over with the one first.
11:02So when we were speaking, the lad was telling me how he'd become involved in criminality
11:07from a young age, how he'd become kind of entrapped in that life.
11:12He was in debt to people, and this is one of the reasons why he was involved.
11:16And that's why he's in that circle now.
11:17And unfortunately, it's going to take a lot for him then to get out of that, if he wants
11:21to.
11:22The stolen vehicle has been traced to the West Midlands, and is potentially linked to a
11:28highly organised crime gang.
11:29West Midlands' CID want to investigate the suspects further.
11:42That's fine.
11:43If you want to do that, do the whole shebang, yeah?
11:47Yeah.
11:47I'd be amazed if these two had anything to do with the theft.
11:50I think they'd probably just been paid a bit of money to drive the car up somewhere, to
11:54be honest.
11:54So yeah, mate, if you can do the interview for that then, that'd be spot on.
12:00Yeah, lovely.
12:00Thank you very much, mate.
12:01Appreciate it.
12:02Bye-bye.
12:03West Midlands have taken a whole lot.
12:04Because it's such a hot spot thing for them, isn't it?
12:07They'd probably want to get into them because...
12:08Yeah, yeah.
12:09No, they're going to get a van.
12:10It's going to be vans in an hour.
12:11So we don't even need to go down and charge them then, do we?
12:14No.
12:14Brilliant.
12:14No, they're going to do it.
12:15I'll go down in custody and tell them that that's what's happening, so they'll be happy.
12:18They're suspected of being couriers for a West Midlands organised crime gang.
12:26They'll be interviewed by CID.
12:29He's a seasoned criminal and so you've assisted us.
12:32Craig updates the man who tackled the suspect.
12:35Hey, let me tell you, you've actually helped arrest somebody that was of an interest.
12:40It was a stolen car.
12:41They've been stolen from another part of the country and possibly there's a bigger picture
12:48that we're not aware of yet.
12:50He really helped us and I say as a force, we can't thank you enough for that.
12:58Over the last probably two years, we've seen a massive increase countrywide where high-performance
13:04vehicles have been stolen and it is causing us a massive headache.
13:11It is well organised.
13:12These criminals are good at what they do, unfortunately, and they're very professional,
13:16which is making our job very difficult.
13:19Years ago, these vehicles, they'd be used for crime or they'd be, you know, for joyriding.
13:23Well, it seems to be now that they've been stolen to order and they're either being stripped
13:27for parts or putting containers in ship to abroad to never be seen again unless they get
13:32stopped in customs.
13:33Coming up.
13:40They want you out of the pub.
13:42No.
13:43Don't make me get hands on.
13:45Down you go.
13:46A drunken disturbance.
13:47You are pathetic.
13:50Gets personal for Craig.
13:52That's some of you.
13:55Shut your mouth.
13:58You've crossed the line.
13:59I don't want to talk to you.
14:01And.
14:03Speed is 9-0.
14:04It's on the wrong side of the road.
14:06A dangerous high-speed chase.
14:08Yeah, it's lost control.
14:09It's lost control.
14:10At Force HQ, Control receives a call from the local pub.
14:34If they're still there, do they have any update on this woman?
14:37Is she still drinking, etc.?
14:41Any units you can stop making my way to the area, please be obliged.
14:461-9, good.
14:47I'm about a million miles away.
14:50Traffic cop Craig Dawes is responding.
14:531-9, thank you.
14:55What's your name?
14:56Female, white jumper, blue jeans, blonde hair in a bun.
15:00Yeah, we saved about a couple of minutes away.
15:03Alcohol-related incidents take up over half of police time.
15:07So, we've just been called to assist locals.
15:11They're quite strapped for staff.
15:14There's a female that's in a local pub, refusing to leave, pushing customers around.
15:20Just basically being a nuisance, really.
15:23Obviously, being called to a pub, you'd think alcohol is going to be a contributing factor.
15:27But it's 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
15:30You know, it could be that she's topped up from last night.
15:33Or she's been on it quite early.
15:37I'll go in there.
15:38I'll be fair, firm.
15:40But, you know, if she doesn't do as I request, or she starts being quite, quite leery, you know,
15:47then she'll be dealt with robustly.
15:51Oscar Tango, 1-9, state 6.
15:56Dealing with drunk people, it can go one way or the other.
15:59They'll either want to hug you and be your best friend, or they'll want to fight you and hate you.
16:03They're very unpredictable.
16:14She's still here, is she?
16:16Right, I'm here, mate.
16:17She just slapped it.
16:19Hello.
16:20Oh, hi.
16:21Hello.
16:22How are you?
16:23Yeah, good.
16:24Are you good, are you?
16:25Yeah.
16:25I think we've been caught, haven't we?
16:27You've got some issues.
16:30Are you going to come outside and have a word with me?
16:32Absolutely, Joe.
16:34Come away from you, what are you, what are you?
16:36It's the customer.
16:37Right, come away from that gentleman, and let's go outside.
16:41I've been polite, and I'm asking quite nice.
16:43Yes, I know you are.
16:45So, would you like to come outside and let's have a chat?
16:48No.
16:49No, no, it's not a request.
16:51Come here.
16:52I'm going through it.
16:53No, you're not.
16:54You come in here a minute.
16:55Er, no.
16:56Don't make me have to get hands on.
16:59They want you at the pub.
17:00No.
17:01Don't make me get hands on.
17:03No.
17:03No, no, listen to me.
17:05Listen to me.
17:07Listen.
17:07I want to wait.
17:08Yes, listen to me.
17:10Stop struggling, and I won't have to get hands on.
17:14You're doing as I tell you.
17:15Yes.
17:15You've obviously had a drink.
17:18Yes.
17:18Just go.
17:19No.
17:20You're not going in the toilet, because unfortunately I'm a male, you're a female, and I ain't got
17:24a female with me at moments, so I don't know what you're going to do in there, so you're
17:26not going, you can wait.
17:28Trying to communicate with a drunk person is very, very, very difficult.
17:31For one, they can't take on board what you're saying, so a normal, simple instruction can
17:36just go straight over somebody's head when they're drunk, but it's part of what we do.
17:41Let go.
17:42No.
17:42I'm making sure you don't fall over.
17:43I think you need to let go of my wrist.
17:46Stand there.
17:47I think you need to let go of my wrist.
17:50You're very, very unsteady on your feet.
17:52Lean against my car, and then I'll let go of your wrist.
17:56Right, I've got to make sure that your welfare's all right.
17:58The last thing I want you to do is fall over.
18:01I am fine.
18:02Right, what we're going to do now is we're going to establish if anything's happened,
18:05anybody wants to make a complaint.
18:07If they don't, then you can go home.
18:12What are you doing now with your arms up there?
18:13Oh, bastard.
18:15Right, that's your first warning.
18:16Oh.
18:17Section 5, public order.
18:18No, wait.
18:20Stand there.
18:20Put your arm down.
18:21One more swear word, and you're coming in.
18:24I want a wig.
18:26Yeah, and they want you out of the pub, which is happening.
18:28Craig is joined by PC Andy Shaw.
18:30I want a wig.
18:31Yeah, no, just shut up a minute.
18:33I need a wig.
18:35Please.
18:36Don't push me.
18:37Get off me.
18:37Look, you're starting to annoy me now.
18:39Yeah.
18:40Yeah.
18:40You're starting to annoy me, so, yes, because I've been pleasant with you,
18:44and when you're starting to annoy me, that means you will be arrested.
18:46Drunken disorderly in a public place if you carry on.
18:52Let's see if there's...
18:53Right, that's it.
18:54Section 5, public order.
18:55You're under arrest.
18:56You all right?
18:57No.
18:57On the floor, so you're not going to fall over.
19:00Come on.
19:00Down you go.
19:01There you go.
19:03Any else?
19:03Tango 19.
19:06Have you got a local that can come with her van, please?
19:07She's refused to behave, so it's drunken disorderly.
19:11Public order she's coming in for.
19:14Whilst Craig waits for transport, Andy speaks to witnesses.
19:19What's she done?
19:20Broken things?
19:21No.
19:22She just wouldn't leave.
19:23She just refused to leave.
19:24I think she wouldn't leave.
19:25Yeah.
19:25Asked her to leave several times.
19:28Refused to sit over her anymore.
19:29And she wouldn't have sort of called her name around the face.
19:35Yeah.
19:37Came in for a quiet drink.
19:39There was a woman at the bar.
19:41It was being all complimentary to me, being all nice.
19:44And then suddenly just started being abusive.
19:49Calling me names and threatening me.
19:53Then she started pushing me around, drank me a drink,
19:56and slapped me around the face, basically.
20:00Told me I was the devil.
20:02You are pathetic.
20:06Is your daughter gonna appreciate everything you've done?
20:13I ain't got a daughter, so no.
20:15Oh my God.
20:18You've got no children.
20:20I have.
20:20I've got a son.
20:22You know what?
20:23That son of yours will die.
20:27Shut your mouth.
20:29You've crossed the line.
20:31I don't want to talk to you.
20:32You've crossed that line.
20:33Jesus, you're pathetic.
20:36Having that kind of comment made to you, telling you you hope the son dies,
20:40you know, it's gone personal then.
20:43It does annoy you when people start bringing you, your family into things.
20:48I mean, I wouldn't think about saying anything like that to anybody, even people I've arrested,
20:52people I've fallen out with, or people I don't get on with.
20:56There's certain things you don't say.
20:57Listen to me, you're further on arrest, on suspicion of assault, all right?
21:02Yes.
21:04No problem.
21:07Local units arrive.
21:10No!
21:11Right, she's been arrested on suspicion of assault and public order.
21:16On the count of three, we're going to lift you up.
21:19Ready?
21:20One, two, three.
21:21Stand up.
21:22There you go.
21:23There you go.
21:23The wheel larches aren't seats, okay?
21:25No!
21:26No!
21:26Right.
21:27No!
21:27Turn round, please.
21:29Turn round.
21:30Turn round.
21:31No!
21:31Right.
21:32Just watch.
21:32No!
21:33Sit down.
21:34Watch your legs.
21:35No!
21:35Stand there and relax.
21:36No!
21:37One, two, three.
21:41No!
21:41Right, there you go.
21:42No!
21:42Your legs.
21:43No!
21:44Go on.
21:44No!
21:45There you go.
21:46You bastard!
21:48Put your legs in, please.
21:49Put your legs in.
21:50Get your leg in.
21:51Put your leg in or put your limb restraints.
21:53Put your leg in.
21:54Your legs are going in leg restraint.
21:57No!
21:57Not messing around.
21:58Please!
22:00Stay there.
22:02We've tried every opportunity to be reasonable with you.
22:05Yeah.
22:06There were no need for this, were they?
22:09There were no need.
22:12Come on.
22:13I hate you.
22:13There were no need for this.
22:17Bend your legs.
22:19There we are.
22:20That's it.
22:20You asshole!
22:28There was no way you were going to be able to reason with her.
22:34Very, very up and down.
22:36Erm, you know, we tried to reason with her but she was having none of it.
22:40So, she's been arrested on submission of assault and drunk and disorderly in a public place.
22:46She'll go and spend the afternoon at, er, Ripley Custody.
22:50We look different to what we normally, normally get involved in, again, it just highlights the fact that, yeah, we're roast policing but there's so much variety to our job.
23:02And, yeah, we'll be right on here.
23:04coming up talking much of inches it could have been a far different outcome for this lad
23:14craig's called to an accident slow down you're a lucky boy where a young motorcyclist has risked
23:21his life could have been far worse couldn't it so let it be a lesson to you and a routine stop check
23:28no no no no don't wait like that takes a sinister turn so you want to kill me he's not very nice is
23:36it oh yeah i must feel sent for 13 years right into a wheel line cash machine red that's on you
23:41both run us
23:42traffic units now can make the way please some reports of an rt sale i think only units on this
24:02channel that were headed to this seat up there we see we've got a report of a road traffic collision
24:10involving a motorcycle and a car head-on not sure yet the severity of injuries first reports it's
24:18quite serious i've got local units traveling craig is back on shift and en route to a crash four miles
24:26from ripley i'm a motorcyclist myself and you are vulnerable you've got no protection around you
24:33you don't get a second chance last year nearly six thousand motorcyclists were seriously injured or killed on
24:42british roads if it just turned out to be severe and then what we'll do is we'll close that down as a scene
24:48so it's getting road closures on getting witness account we need to know why has it happened what's caused it
24:55that's the big thing um you know something happens for a reason somebody's going to be at fault
25:01there it is
25:05how are you doing you all right who's the driver of this one is my colleague with him
25:21yeah um i don't remember she's in the car brilliant the woman in the car is okay
25:26but the young motorcyclist is receiving medical treatment
25:31and ask 019 can we get recovery rolling for the motorcycle please if there's no issues
25:38traffic cop bex callan was first on the scene
25:43what's he doing turning coming down here turning right and he's been taken over again
25:50same as yesterday yeah he's already said it's his fault hasn't he yeah
25:54this lady's on her way to work coming down here turning right and the motorcyclist has gone to
26:02overtake and hit the side of a driver's door and landed where he is now upside down you can
26:09obviously see that there's a junction this lady's had her indicator on and he's gone for an overtake
26:13anyway missed all the signs not looking properly i was um turning into this junction um and then
26:23there was a bang and then the motorbike rider went straight over the bonnet
26:31he's definitely got some bruises and a sore ankle but i think it'll be all right he was chatting to
26:37me when he was waiting for the ambulance just one silly mistake and that could have been the end of
26:44it for him is it worth it is it worth for it just overtaking the other side of it is you know clearly
26:49she need this car for work and believe she works for the nhs um you know she can no longer use that
26:55car now it's roped off just a simple crash like that it's a domino effect
27:00unfortunately for him he's found out the hard way his bike's roped off and his insurance details are
27:09going to go through the roof but more importantly you know he's only suffered minor injuries
27:13you're his mum are you right don't worry he's okay a little bit bruised and shaken
27:22but apart from that he's fine deep breaths all right he is okay as in other than a little bit sore
27:31and bruised anyone else no no no no no it's just a bike into the car
27:36um but yeah he's he's a lucky boy
27:40all right
27:46oh god there you go go and say hello to him
27:54hi
27:54i've got a bit of a pain ankle and breast pain
27:59shows you the impact on other people that it has
28:04she's come rushing you know all emotional she doesn't know what to expect when she gets here
28:09um you know and um lucky for her that her son is all right you know she's quite emotional in there
28:16and a bit teary but i think it's more of tears of relief now are we going to learn a lesson today then
28:21honestly you need to be looking and slow down
28:25you're a lucky boy and you're probably going to make a full recovery but it could have been far worse couldn't it
28:32so let it be a lesson to you all right
28:35one of the reasons i wanted to join the police is i was involved in a fatal crash i thought the the way that the police handled the families how hard it was you know i thought this is something i could do you know help make it a little bit better
28:52look after yourself all right see you later
28:56that's one of the reasons i want to get on rose policing to try and combat
29:00reckless driving which had a big impact on my life
29:04with everyone safely off the road
29:06craig clears the wreckage
29:11if he'd have hit that
29:12there's no way that signpost would have moved he'd have wrapped himself around that
29:16you're talking a matter of inches and it could have been a far different outcome for this lad
29:19so just hopefully he learns from it
29:22attention
29:38traffic cops like craig patrol single crewed
29:42and rely on intel and police cameras to keep drivers in check
29:46that's tango one nine
29:49one nine go ahead
29:51give me 10 15 please
29:53this is kia
29:54craig's on-board computer triggers an alert
29:59since i've been in the job
30:02i've seen a considerable amount of changes
30:04one of them being around the information systems that we've got at our disposal now
30:08it allows us real-time intelligence on vehicles
30:12vehicles and vehicle occupants
30:15record time expired substantive
30:18expired substantive is license and that the dvla has then taken away
30:23that can be for a number of reasons it can be medical
30:26it can be not replying to letters can be points
30:30could you receive that
30:31yes yes
30:32yes yes
30:33is it your car
30:38no
30:39whose is it
30:40my partner
30:41it's your partner
30:42has he got full license and insurance
30:43no
30:44all right do you want to turn it off for me then
30:46tango one nine
30:48no license
30:49no insurance
30:50do you want to sit in your car and get some details
30:52oh thank you
30:55hello
30:59i'm in the car
31:04no i'm in the police car
31:06oh sorry
31:07yeah
31:10hello
31:12the owner of the kia wants to speak to craig and collect his car
31:17well you've not got a license either have you
31:19i'd already checked it before i pulled it and you already expired provisional
31:24what are you saying she's stolen it
31:25if you're telling me that she's took it and you didn't know well that's theft in tit
31:29oh
31:30all right
31:31well what i'll do is i'll wait till you come down if you want to make a complaint of theft
31:35then she'll be arrested
31:36nice one mate thank you
31:38does that mean i'm going to arrest you and took to station now
31:41well it depends what he says when he comes down don't it
31:43balls in his court
31:46if he makes a an accusation of theft
31:49but obviously you had access to it then you're going to be arrested
31:53so it's what what your partner wants you to wants to happen isn't it
31:58while craig waits for the owner to arrive
32:01he charges the female with traffic offenses
32:04so the offense that i'm reporting for is driving a vehicle otherwise in accordance with a license
32:09and driving a motor vehicle without third-party insurance on the road
32:12do you understand that
32:13yeah
32:14the vehicle will get seized
32:16he then can sort it out but at the moment his license is showing expired
32:22it does amaze me at the number of people out there thinking they can just get in a car and drive
32:27without the adequate insurance or license
32:30insurance is needed for a reason
32:32the license proves that you've met the required standard to drive safely
32:36safely
32:37it does annoy you and it seems that they're just so blasé about it
32:43who's that is that whose car it is
32:46wait there mate
32:47wait
32:48mate you can in a minute but at the moment she's er she's with me
32:51right
32:52i've been given permission to drive the car
32:54i've been so he's been stolen basically i didn't even know you took it i would
32:58believe once i take
32:59so you're saying that she's taking it
33:01right can I have my car back
33:02no no no no don't work like that don't work like that
33:05somebody took it without my permission
33:06doesn't listen i'm not daft that car's been seized
33:09no she didn't steal it now
33:11pardon she didn't steal it now
33:12pardon she didn't steal it now
33:13oi
33:14what
33:15what
33:16do you care to us how am i getting back to where i live
33:19i ain't got to do what you care you can get a taxi
33:21listen you've got down here
33:23me just got dropped off
33:25right
33:26no need to come swearing at me
33:28gentleman's telling me on the phone that he had no idea that the car was taken
33:33basically was putting all the blame on his partner when he realized we'd arrest his partner
33:38we'd then seize the car anyway because he could be prosecuted for allowing somebody to drive his vehicle
33:44he's got no license he then changed his tune
33:47you know what
33:48i think the person brought him straight off
33:50you're saying you wanted to kill him he's not very nice is it
33:53oh yeah
33:54i watched jail sentence for 13 years
33:56right until you're lying cash machine red
33:58i can't stand you filter him out
34:01what you mean you can't stand because i'm doing my job for a protected community
34:05no no not at all
34:07i didn't get bullied at all
34:09in a place obviously you get abuse on a regular basis
34:13you get quite a bit of you're bullied at school
34:16you only do this so you can bully people
34:19but i think any genuine reasonable member of the public
34:22probably think twice about saying something like that
34:26just shows you what kind of person they are when they make them kind of comments
34:30and they were only doing our job
34:34i can't even talk if we can go
34:36i can't get gone i've got to wait for your car to go
34:38you're free to go
34:40you're free to go
34:42you're clear on what's happened and what the circumstances are then
34:50and you understand what's happening
34:52basically you've got to be road legal to get it back
34:54clearly they don't like police and coming out with comments as i should have rammed you and so forth
35:00you know it does annoy me with that attitude because obviously the last couple of years
35:06police officers have been unfortunate to lose their lives but you know you still remain professional
35:10and the day we're only doing a job and if you don't commit crime or you're not doing anything wrong then you won't come across us
35:16it's all about choices and today they make the wrong choice and go out in the car simple as don't drive us you've got no docks
35:30coming up
35:37coming up
35:38the speed is 9-0
35:39it's er
35:40on the wrong side of the road
35:42Craig's forced into a high speed pursuit
35:45yeah it's lost control it's lost control
35:47and hunts down a runaway driver
35:50where's he gone?
35:51come on
35:52go ahead
36:03vehicle's failing to stop
36:05the area is low
36:06traffic is light
36:09near chesterfield
36:10a car has sped away from traffic officer Craig Gores
36:14come down what must have taken further?
36:17it's an NPR hit
36:19spun round and this vehicle's made off from speed
36:21stand by
36:23left left left
36:25speed is 5-0
36:27and a 3-0
36:30immediate my concerns are
36:32you know I need other units round me
36:34how dangerous is it
36:35we're always mindful that a vehicle's driving at high speed
36:38you're always worrying that somebody's going to get hurt or killed during a pursuit
36:42that's the biggest fear
36:45are you alright for them to patch within top 1?
36:47yeah just having to switch
36:48yeah if you patch within top 1 then
36:50as Craig tails the driver
36:53Oscar Romeo Victor units if you can all move on to win top 1 please
36:57force control help coordinate the pursuit
37:01we're still no other cars on the road
37:04speed is 6-0
37:06can we have Stinger please?
37:08I'm just doing the question
37:100-1 if we can set up a Stinger at the next available opportunity please
37:15the plan is to stop the car by puncturing the tyres with a Stinger
37:20we'll get onto local and see if they can also assist
37:22it looks like there's three occupants
37:25two in the front one in the back
37:26they are videoing this pursuit it looks like
37:29what drives somebody to take the risk that they're doing
37:33you know are they doing it for a kick?
37:35are they doing it because they're under the influence of drink or drugs you know?
37:39are they juveniles?
37:40is it a big game to them?
37:46stand by
37:47approaching a red traffic light
37:49it's through the red
37:55it's overtaking
37:57straight over the roundabout towards Chesterfield
37:59speed is increasing
38:01speed is 7-0
38:03I've got one, two, three, four, five vehicles out
38:10with multiple units now close by
38:13you broke off fingers behind you now Craig
38:16they're ready to stop the car
38:22approaching the junction
38:23so left, left, left
38:25come on, doing left, right
38:28if you go to the real road
38:30I'd like to get ahead
38:31towards Kayla
38:33can we have a possible stinger?
38:35some aspect of stinging a vehicle is down to luck
38:38there's no two ways about it
38:40only has to come to a junction
38:41and take the opposite turning
38:43and that happens
38:45but with the stinger in position
38:48yes, yes
38:49speed is 5-0
38:50so right, right, right
38:52towards the hospital
38:55the driver heads in another direction
38:58stand by, it's approaching a red traffic light
39:00the road
39:01speed is 9-0
39:02in the 3-0
39:03left, left, left
39:07nearly losing control
39:11he's driving it, it's dangerous
39:14it's in the dark
39:15and we're constantly thinking
39:17is it safe to continue?
39:18stand by
39:20we are doing 7-0 and 4-0
39:22it's on the wrong side of the road
39:24overtaking on double whites
39:26through a red light
39:28DRA's high
39:29it will come out near Heath possible
39:34unless it takes a left
39:35right, it's now got no option other than go to the Heath
39:39can we have a stinger at the end of this road?
39:45Mr. Stinger
39:47Mr. Stinger
39:48if you head towards Haley Whittle
39:50he's coming down towards Haley Whittle
39:52yeah
39:53he's going to come out near Temple Normington Test Centre
39:57can't miss your left, there is ahead, we're being over
39:59approaching the junction speed is 7-0
40:02slow in, heavy on the brakes
40:042-9 is coming towards you?
40:05yeah, he's being out of position
40:06he's been by
40:07боль
40:08thank you
40:09vehicles!
40:10vehicles are gone
40:11vehicles are gone
40:12vehicles are gone
40:15vehicles are gone
40:16vehicles are slowing stand by
40:17vehicle's heavy braking
40:19vehicle's struggling to control
40:23he's slowing down
40:26vehicle's turning his lights out
40:27when it was stung and he continued to drive
40:30you're just thinking
40:31stop being silly pull over
40:33because the worst thing that can happen to us
40:35to us is Luke controlling it somebody head-on it's the wrong side of the road
40:41it's the right DRA is high speed is 4-0 yeah it's lost control, it's lost control
40:50where's he gone?
40:57they're the ones in the car but they're crashing you still in the car
41:04get him off
41:09just take your time and climb over it
41:14take your time and climb over it
41:19get your hands behind your back stay there and don't move
41:23you're the driver? yeah
41:25right you're under arrest suspicious fell to stop dangerous driving come on
41:31the driver was a provisional license holder
41:34he was actually insured on the vehicle
41:36but he was just driving with no supervisor
41:39but he was arrested for dangerous drive fell to stop
41:42luckily for him he didn't hit anybody but you know
41:45he's gone from just having a fine and some points
41:48because he's a non-licence holder to possible prison
41:51and it's putting a 2-3
41:54it's not until the pursuit's finished that you just feel drained and you feel tired
41:58everything happens so quickly you've got to keep your wits about you
42:02one laps in concentration can lead to something serious
42:05it's the end of another busy shift for Craig
42:10as a road police officer you have to deal with some situations that people don't want to be put in
42:19but unfortunately that's what you're signing up for
42:22it's not all about chases and glory
42:25hopefully I've got another 15-20 years to see me through to retirement
42:30I'm proud to be a traffic cop and I enjoy my job
42:33in this episode

43:44as there was nobody else injured
43:46the police have decided not to take any action against the rider
43:51do you got full license and insurance?
