00:07Stay still!
00:08Derbyshire traffic cops.
00:10It does have warning markers for potential firearms.
00:15Stand over!
00:16You under arrest.
00:17Intent supply class is a drug.
00:19Police a thousand square miles.
00:23It's a crash, crash.
00:25You got any other injury other than your head?
00:27With some of the UK's most dangerous roads.
00:30Oh, no one's been killed out of this.
00:32I don't know.
00:33Do you know how fast you were going?
00:34It's scary when stuff like this happens.
00:36In life and death situations.
00:39Get on the ground, you'll be chasing!
00:41We've got runners.
00:43Face down.
00:45Yes, yes, successful stick.
00:49Around every corner.
00:51Great acting, mate.
00:54There's a new challenge for the traffic cops.
00:57They're part of the vehicle now!
01:00I'm going home.
01:01David!
01:02Stop grabbing me like that!
01:06It's crash, crash, crash!
01:10Coming up.
01:12Get mails out and running.
01:13Standby.
01:14Police cameras.
01:16It's quite disturbing intelligence.
01:17We cannot let this vehicle leave Derbyshire.
01:21Identifying criminals.
01:22See, your brother from another mother has got the same date of birth as you.
01:25And high-tech intel.
01:29If you're spitting my face, you're on the floor.
01:32Leading to arrests.
01:33Get out!
01:34Get out of the car!
01:35We've got two stolen vans.
01:36There's a strong smell of cannabis in there.
01:38Get in there, drop.
01:474-3 still receiving.
01:49I've gone back to the seventh.
01:51There was one hit, which is a Hampshire camera.
01:54There's been no hits until today.
01:55It starts hitting cameras at 13.09 in Derbyshire.
02:00Every day, 16 million number plates are read.
02:04Comes out Lester than West Mids.
02:08By a UK-wide network of traffic cameras.
02:12Last hit was 2107.
02:14Helping police identify offenders.
02:26From an eight-to-wall units monitoring this channel, we've just had a hit for a vehicle.
02:30Stand by for details.
02:31I don't know if it's further down there or here.
02:34I'll pull up down here and I'll have a look.
02:37PC Andy Swift's being directed by control towards an illegal van.
02:42The vehicle you're after, it's showing us driver disqualified.
02:46No insurance.
02:48So, we've just got some of the units to come into the area.
02:51Trying, obviously, to get this vehicle accepted and stop it one way or the other.
02:55So, I'm just going to sit up here and hopefully, we'll be able to get it stopped.
03:00Something's going in a certain direction, so you can obviously plan and prepare for it.
03:04And you've got a bit of time to sort of try and deal with the situation and get things in place.
03:10This vehicle is a blue transit van with go-fast and white stripes down it.
03:14So, if it decides to make off, it'll be a bit of a task.
03:17Because, obviously, it's a big vehicle.
03:18Not way much, it's just a big vehicle, that's all.
03:24Dan, I'm just going to have to see if I can find a spot for a stinger, mate.
03:26It's too wide a road where I am.
03:31Roger.
03:34Swifty, give me a point, please, mate.
03:39There's going to be nowhere suitable, mate, for me to do a stinger.
03:41It's too wide a road.
03:44Just done it, mate.
03:45Andy and other units are moving into position.
03:48Received.
03:49Ahead of the van.
03:50No starting of it yet, mate.
03:54It's just going to hit up the return Camry.
03:56So, I expect to hit up in the next minute.
03:58You're a bit unsure with disqualified drivers, whether they're going to stop or not.
04:04You're just in the back of your mind, you sometimes think,
04:06well, is this person going to cause damage to our police vehicles
04:09or even cause damage to other people's vehicles?
04:11Just try and get away.
04:13All right. Contact, contact.
04:15One for cover.
04:17To the right-hand way.
04:18This is a single male occupant.
04:27Towards the road.
04:29And one behind you, mate.
04:31I'm one behind you mate three traffic cop units are tailing the suspect
04:54Right, right, right
05:01We're going to struggle for the time being given the speed bumps and the number of junctions
05:08Still being driven normally at this time, speed 25
05:12It's a bizarre way to go mate this is
05:15Yeah, I'm suggesting I didn't see the problem because you haven't got an opportunity to put it on
05:21Yeah, we've got a left
05:23So we're going back up the hill
05:26I should be able to cut him off mate potentially go head on with him
05:33Have you turned right yet?
05:41Sorry, sorry
05:43Hey vehicle, it's been stopped, it's currently off road, stand by, stand by
05:49He's gone down the hill, down the hill
06:05He's going down the hill, down the hill
06:07He's going down the hill, down the hill
06:08He's going down the hill, he's wearing all black, taking left left left
06:12Get on the ground now! Get on the ground now! Get on the ground you'll be tasing! Get on the ground! Get on the ground!
06:36Get on the ground! Get on the ground! Get on the ground! Get on the ground! Gets on the ground!
06:47Can't you butt then?
06:51Confirmed Mild Detection
06:53Session
06:56Yes yes no sir?
06:57If you have a recovery straight away
06:58So my friend, why have you done that?
07:00The keys be left in there
07:01What, cos you're disqual?
07:03No.
07:04So, my friend,
07:06that this time you're under arrest for driving whilst disqualified.
07:09OK?
07:10Failing to stop.
07:12And for driving whilst you're carrying attention.
07:18I don't think they actually care about other members of the public.
07:20I think, in their mind, they're just thinking,
07:22I just need to get away.
07:23Cos they don't want to be caught.
07:25Is it your van or have you nicked it?
07:27No, it's mine.
07:28Your van.
07:29So, is it cos she's disqualified, then?
07:31Yeah.
07:32That's what you got a van for originally.
07:33Yeah.
07:34Why'd you crash your van? Why don't you stop?
07:36I don't know.
07:38That'll be road top now, won't it?
07:42How did you get up front, there?
07:44Cos I went to cut him off.
07:46Well, I know what air you do, wouldn't I?
07:47You've been here for years, haven't I?
07:48Very good.
07:49Come on, man. Stand up.
07:50You know what the best part about it is?
07:52If you just stopped, we're docked at roadside.
07:54Cos she can't stop now,
07:56we'll be remanded to the court tomorrow morning.
07:57Probably to prison.
07:58Why don't you just stop?
08:04Come on, then, pal.
08:05Oh, dear.
08:11I tell you, pal, when you went down that alley there,
08:13I know that alley.
08:14I've chased many a drug dealer down there.
08:16It ain't very wide down there.
08:18When I thought you were going down that van,
08:20I thought it's not going any one way this is.
08:22Oh, dear.
08:23What are you doing?
08:24He's failed to stop, cos he's disqualified,
08:25he doesn't want to try and get away,
08:26he knows he shouldn't be driving.
08:27If he'd have stopped,
08:28and he'd have his day in courting,
08:29a couple of months' time,
08:30but now, obviously,
08:31whether he's tried to get away,
08:32he's obviously failed to stop for a very short amount of time,
08:34and crashed into this tree.
08:36I don't know.
08:37If he's not damaged their fence,
08:38so that'd be criminal damage he'll get done for at all.
08:40He'll be obviously just taken to custody,
08:42but he'll most likely be remanded overnight,
08:43and I'll be in court tomorrow morning,
08:45probably sent to prison.
08:47So, a good result in one way,
08:49but he's just made it a bit worse for himself, really.
08:51Pot, you send in there.
08:52Swing your send in.
08:53A couple of my colleagues are going to.
08:55Like that?
08:58He'll most likely just be charged.
08:59I doubt he'll be interviewed.
09:00It's all police evidence,
09:01and he's been caught red-handed, so...
09:03Oh no, not a bad result.
09:04No one injured, no damage.
09:06Bit of damage to his own vehicle.
09:07We'll go.
09:10Right.
09:11Come on, tea and medals.
09:16Coming up.
09:18Traffic cameras tracking criminals.
09:20It's got a large amount of money on them.
09:22There's a strong smell of cannabis in there.
09:24Helping officers to protect lives.
09:27It's quite disturbing intelligence.
09:29We're under arrest on suspicion of child sexual exploitation, okay?
09:43Clean this filthy windscreen.
09:46Traffic cop Matt Cork is heading out on patrol.
09:50Officers like Matt use a national network of number plate reading cameras to identify criminals and illegal drivers.
10:00Recently there's been developments in the technology used around AMPR.
10:05They're obviously of vital importance and a really, really useful tool to roads policing unit.
10:12It enables us to hold up intel pictures around criminality and criminals.
10:16And I joined this job to catch bad guys, to catch bad people.
10:19From an A to all units monitoring this channel, we've just had an AMPR hit for a vehicle. Stand by for details.
10:28It's going up now.
10:29It's going up now.
10:30Stop Matt.
10:31Information from knots of a vehicle passing through the county.
10:34information from knots of a vehicle passing through the county it's quite
10:43disturbing intelligence and the understanding is that the vehicle is
10:48being used to transport a female and this female is being transported for
10:58child sex offenses five miles ahead of Matt officers from two forces are tailing the
11:07suspect car be naive to think that it it never happens anywhere or I was certainly surprised
11:18when information came in to suggest that this this innocent child might be being trafficked
11:25by somebody known to them we cannot let this vehicle leave Derbyshire and this this this
11:32child needs safeguarded got a girl who's not going to be able to defend herself against an adult
11:49the risk can really get much higher than this
11:56lane four is flowing lane one to three is locked currently
12:06we've got drivers secured got a young girl secured from the car and try and ascertain what's happening
12:35a male suspects being held at a service station along with the young girl we've got the vehicle
12:51stopped hey tango to a the adult was being spoken to by officers have we had any details off him yet
12:58so it was trying to establish the facts really because the information at that point was sort
13:06of a bit hit and miss that's the details he's provided
13:09is he said who she is to it don't right because we've been to try the car she's been screaming daddy
13:18daddy daddy daddy as well so but then it's not happening though no no yeah so we got little and in
13:25traffic car I think Joe sergeant is just trying to get through to boss but I think ultimately we're
13:33going to look at taking young and into protection it was clear that the the child was unsurprisingly
13:42quite scared of the situation that she'd found herself in while we wait for daddy to finish speaking to
13:49speaking to the other officers can I get you a drink or anything like that do you want a bottle of pop or some water no
13:56we're just having a quick chat with dad he's okay he's safe he's trying to talk to him and
14:03check that everything's all right are and everything's all right with you
14:06hello don't you don't need to be scared he'll be back soon you can tell that she's petrified she
14:14doesn't really understand what's going on where are your shoes in the car okay priority being
14:22making this making this child feel safe and more comfortable in the situation they've found
14:29themselves in but at the same time we still need to ascertain what details we can from this child
14:35where were you and daddy off today then some people need help two people need help what do they need
14:42help with daddy works with them and what they do they do massages ah they both do massages at their massage shop do they
14:52so you were driving from your house to help them right okay does daddy help them out lots yeah
15:03um some are not right about it all right some a bit weird about it mom's at work dad's a driver that's what he does he just drives
15:10i think yeah i think there's probably more to it from what they've just told me yeah right buddy listen
15:15to me at the minute you're under arrest on suspicion of child sexual exploitation okay you do not have to
15:21say anything but it may harm your defense if you do not mention one question something which you later
15:25rely on in court anything you do say may be given in evidence the necessity for your arrest is for prompt
15:29and effective investigation and to protect a vulnerable person okay
15:33so what's going to happen is so that we can hear ourselves because again the lorries and the road
15:41is really noisy isn't it we're going to go down to the local police station which isn't far from here
15:46where rather than having to just get stuck in the back of a car like this while we talk we'll be able
15:50to have a lot of room with some seats and bits like that daddy will go down to the police station as
15:55well and we'll have a quick chat with daddy um and we'll just figure things out from there all right
16:02what are you eating anyway it looks very blue i think this car here is going to be your carriage
16:10i'll get my colleague to just grab some shoes
16:14are these your crocs you didn't tell me they were crocs where's the lights on the front i'd have lights
16:25on the front of them not in sport mode no you slip them on though thank you sergeant nice one cheers
16:36we've taken the uh girl into police protection she's gone to um the nearest police station to
16:43uh sort of be cared for there um where we'll get specialist units to come and have a chat with
16:48her uh and the driver the male driver has been taken to ripley police station uh having been arrested
16:56on suspicion of child sexual exploitation across the uk there are 11 000 anpr cameras it has come down
17:07from uh gmp into west yorkshire south yorkshire derbyshire monitoring vehicle movements and feeding plate numbers
17:17into a shared national database
17:32well thank you very much uh i'll let the team know
17:36in central derby matt's back on patrol
17:41that's what's called the fear in beige no reports on it they're an insurance not help
17:57to do four he knows it
18:12matt signals to the driver to pull over
18:14the reason i've stopped you have you got any insurance yeah can i have a look what do you mean
18:29what insurance insurance for you to drive this car to to be honest with you i don't make insurance
18:34because i don't know how don't know how to make insurance but okay somebody make it for okay
18:40have you got a driving license yep can i have a look at that
18:50you just pop these on top of the car
18:54what sort of driving license have you got romanian one my information here says that you don't have a
18:59driving license so you don't have to say anything but it may be defensive you don't mention now
19:03something which later alani caught anything you do say may be given in evidence matt's accessing the
19:08police national computers driver and vehicle database it's not english license no no i get
19:14that it's a romanian one but unless i can see it i don't know that you've even got one do i
19:19you you could just tell me yeah i've got a romanian one but it won't show up on my system
19:25have you already been dealt with having no insurance in this country
19:29165 please no insurance
19:30and no license um you say you've never been dealt with in this country for no insurance
19:38right have you got any other idea on you i've got this on you've got no identification with you now
19:44right okay i'll tell you what jump out we'll do uh we'll do some biometrics checks in the car mate
19:50i'll tell you have a seat in there uh no it's fingerprint test to find out who you are
19:58police computers hold more than eight million sets of fingerprints
20:03if the driver can't prove who he says he is matt will take him to the station to be identified
20:08you've got absolutely nothing on you that can prove who you are
20:11no no i find it strange that you've given me one address that is the same address who's somebody
20:19else been dealt with with very similar name i know you've told me your name but things aren't adding
20:26up people aren't always straight up with us they're not always honest uh and there's still plenty that
20:32think that they can pull the wall over our eyes yes my brother this is the same so this is your brother
20:38yeah but it's not uh you know the blood yeah the blood he's not blood brother
20:43you know do you understand what i'm saying i think so he's not he's not real brother you
20:48don't have same parents my mom yeah and his mom are not the same yeah step brother yeah okay
20:55right so this is your step brother this not you but you've got the same date of birth as your stepbrother
21:01i don't know because he's from another mother yeah so your brother from another mother has got the
21:07same date of birth as you so it happens to be that your stepbrother is exactly the same age as you
21:15you see how things are sounding a bit funny no because i've got another mother yes yeah yeah
21:21but what you're telling me the details you've given me yeah you have same date of birth born on
21:26born on the same day imagine imagine that it surprises me in this day and age that people
21:32still think that they've got a chance um and still think that that they might possibly get away with
21:40this simply by giving somebody else's details if we get to the police station and it tells me that you
21:47are somebody else and that you've been lying to me and that it's wasted my time you will be in a lot
21:52of trouble whereas if you tell me now if that you've happened to give me some different details
21:57by accident or being panicky it can be dealt with by way of paperwork here and we don't need to go
22:02anywhere right the car's going the car's coming with me okay but listen it's 2 30 in the afternoon
22:10you're going to be arrested on suspicion of driving without license and drive without insurance
22:15okay hear me so you don't have to say anything put it in my own defense if you don't mention when
22:20question something which later on in court anything you do say may be given in evidence the reason for
22:24your arrest the reason you're being arrested is so that i can confirm your identity at the police
22:29station marvelous right sit tight for me a second all right hey matey i've got no paperwork for you
22:40yet because i haven't been able to write it out because i don't know who he is so i will send it
22:44through to the office as i usually do all right essentially as much as this chap's provided me
22:50with some details uh he's also telling me that a similar name is his step brother and his step
22:57brother happens to live at the same address has a different mother and shares exactly the same
23:02birthday so essentially they are step twins uh which i find hard to believe so we're going to go
23:09down to the police station uh and he's going to be putting the biometric uh checker there uh to see
23:15if we can ascertain his his true identity there's a fine balance between somebody trying their luck
23:21and giving a wrong date of birth and coming clean after a couple of minutes when they're realizing that
23:26it's not washing and somebody that is so adamant that they are telling the truth uh that they're so
23:32intent on deceiving you that they're using up valuable time that i could be you know out on the
23:37roads providing a service to other people super yeah hey that's fine left hand four fingers
24:02then just your two thumbs together this one yeah both yeah now we're just going to roll each one
24:16the custody staff have just done a biometric check of this chap so we are now just waiting for the
24:22results to come through
24:28uh not right details no i don't think so that's ah yeah the name that his friend was calling him okay
24:35quite a few uh mark like driving things before yeah yeah not okay cool still amazes me how far people
24:45will take a lie so why have you wasted my time scared of what i've already told you that it could
24:54have been dealt with there and then but instead you've taken me off the streets wasting my time
25:00dealing with you here you can
25:07it's not the first time with the police you've been dealt with before for driving without license
25:11without insurance so what will happen now is you're also going to be dealt with for wasting police
25:17time okay there was absolutely no need for the last hour of my time to be spent with you and we
25:24could have done what we've done now in five minutes yeah i'm really sorry okay so let's go and sort some
25:32paperwork out shall we follow me um no surprise he doesn't have a twin stepbrother uh and he has
25:47essentially wasted my time now that we've got this gentleman's genuine details it's come up as a non-licence
25:55holder uh and he was disqualified for six months in 2020 so this is probably a case of i'll try my luck
26:08so you're going to get nine points uh and there's going to be a hefty fine to go with it
26:13uh perhaps uh 300 pounds for no insurance it'll be 300 pounds for no license and then whatever fine
26:19the court gives you for wasting police time all right so you don't have to say anything but it may
26:23know in defense if you don't mention now something which later alani caught anything you do say may
26:27be given an evidence give me fine bigger than 300 and less points no it's not how it works
26:36okay watch your toes
26:40i'll obviously be putting a case file in with regards to the fact that he's wasted police time
26:44time that i could have spent assisting others uh people that needed us as opposed to wasting the
26:51time with somebody who's telling fibs coming up he shouldn't be driving an pr camera hits i need
26:59some assistance please lead to arrests get out the car undo the door and seizures it's got large amount of
27:06money on them it's been past information there's possibly a clone van so we're going to go and park
27:25up and see if it if it comes up and try and spot it and we'll get it stopped traffic cops like pc craig
27:32doors use police cameras to track vehicles on false plates so the clone vinyl is when um
27:40somebody's changed the id identity of the car so it could be that they've changed the number
27:46plates it could be they've got no insurance no license or it's stolen so you tend to find that
27:51when we get a clone it might lead to other jobs what they've been up to
27:54two two two from two three
28:01yes just to let you know i've moved down to just in the uh highways pull in there
28:09um we're out somewhere in knots but we've not managed to locate it yet so we've got several units
28:14doing uh area searches so i'm now parked up out of the way waiting for that call um but that few
28:21minutes can sometimes seem like an eternity what's the risks who are they what markers do they have
28:35and ultimately what have they got to lose by your stopping that vehicle how long has it got
28:42told it's roughly five minutes
28:44if they're carrying a large quantity of drugs or cash up down the country what are they prepared
28:51to do to get away from police see you now i think so it's a 63 and two
28:59from tanga two three i would imagine it would have been here by now if it's not turned off we've got
29:03the other one of the marker on as well the the one in convoy i've looked at that and that's gone all
29:08the way around police believe there are two vans using cloned plates traveling together

30:23you got two five behind with that uh convoy there with the other van sighted behind craig's closing
30:30in on the suspect ahead at this point i've taken the lead role and will they be coming on to derbyshire
30:36derbyshire will always kind of want their officers to take charge of the incident

30:52i can see i'll drop him behind got you now it's committed committed lane two one for cover
31:01vehicle is slowing
31:03one eight we can take rear
31:04the risks of putting a box on in a motorway are always high you are using three or four vehicles
31:24to stop another vehicle but whenever you're using two three tons of combined metal to try and stop
31:30something and the risk is always there come in front of it they're coming from this eye block on block
31:37on
31:49so
31:57get to me get to me all right get out get out get out get out
32:01Just on him, he'll get the sirens off, mate.
32:10No, he's not got a key on it. Barrel's been screwed.
32:17Sitting there, fella. Sitting there, mate.
32:22Can we get anything onto ERA?
32:25Put it onto there.
32:31We're under arrest at this point on submission of theft of motor vehicle and to do it by means of question. Do you understand that?
32:37OK, the time is at 11.28.
32:42Other units have detained three more suspects.
32:46The second van's coming down as well.
32:49So at the moment, we've got two vans stopped, one just further up the motor. I believe they've been in convoy together.
32:54This is confirmed stolen from Milton Keynes a couple of days ago.
32:58Anything in the back of this one?
33:00OK, it's just a convoy there.
33:01Yeah, he's out there.
33:03There's a strong smell of cannabis in there as well, but this is confirmed clone as well.
33:09We've got two stolen clone vans.
33:12We've got barrels here that we believe could be used for theft of diesel.
33:18And then you've got your ramps, and what's been happening is they've been putting plant in here, so road rollers, micro diggers and so on,
33:24or just drop in the back of that, and they'll be off.
33:27And they're asking a two-three. Can you see if that's come up in convoy with the other vehicles?
33:36Yeah, it was in convoy with it, looking at it.
33:38Yeah, all day it's been in convoy with it. All day. All day it's been in. It's got a large amount of money on them.
33:50All four suspects now face questioning at the station about the cash and cloned vans.
33:57Sorry? It's over a grunt.
33:59I've nicked mine for theft, so we can do that.
34:02Yeah, and he's got a grand on him in cash and all, so he can explain that away.
34:05All the information that we'd had and the suspicions that we'd got with the vehicle coming have paid true,
34:12and that makes you feel even better when you know that what you've just done has been successful.
34:16I'm going to follow you down with him, is that all right?
34:19Coming up.
34:21Stopping you.
34:22A police camera alert.
34:23If you spit in my face, you're on the floor.
34:26Leads to an angry...
34:28...and illegal driver.
34:29Is there anything in this car that shouldn't be?
34:31No.
34:33You shouldn't be in it. That's fair enough, isn't it?
34:52There's a vehicle, a transit tipper, that's knocking about, and it's got a disqualified driver linked to it,
35:07who's also wanted for a serious domestic assault.
35:11PC Carl Jackson's patrolling central Derby.
35:14It's activated a camera on another police car, but going in the opposite direction.
35:19A lot's changed from when I joined the police.
35:22We're not too far away, we'll see if we can come across it.
35:25You still get criminals committing the same crimes, but we have different ways of finding those criminals, I suppose, now,
35:32and a lot of that's down to technology.
35:36Attention. Derby niche stoppacks.
35:40There's no sign of the wanted truck driver.
35:44Drug docks.
35:49That's going to be pulled over, isn't it?
35:51But Carl's patrol car is fitted with its own high-tech ANPR camera.
35:56It's that car there.
35:59Why has everything gone at once?
36:02She's sat in that waiting for her...
36:06...for her fella.
36:09And he... he shouldn't be driving that.
36:15So let's just hope it comes this way.
36:17I can't hide him in a flipping great big marked police car.
36:21The traffic cops onboard computer is linked to Control's national intel database.
36:26As traffic cops, we stop numerous people daily.
36:30You've got no idea what you're dealing with.
36:32Whereas, if I'm stopping a vehicle that's got an ANPR marker on it already for, let's say, drugs,
36:37then I've already got an insight into what it might be that I'm dealing with.
36:42It's facing this way, so I'm hoping it's going to come this way.
36:44That's it.
36:51And he's driving.
36:53And he's driving.
37:02No!
37:09What are you doing?
37:10Stopping you!
37:11Why?
37:12Yeah, but you're driving this on the road.
37:13Have you got any documents or any insurance?
37:14Not on the car, no.
37:15I'm going for a meal.
37:16Not on you at all.
37:17You haven't got anything on you at all.
37:18Going for a meal?
37:19No, you're not.
37:20The car's insurance.
37:21Yes, I am going for a meal.
37:22You're going to deal with me first, then you go for a meal.
37:23Am I detained?
37:24Yes.
37:25So, I'm going to put some handcuffs on you.
37:26And I'll spit in your face.
37:27If you're spitting my face, you're on the floor.
37:30So?
37:31Simple as that.
37:32For assault.
37:33Why, everybody go?
37:36I need some assistance, please.
37:37Everybody go in.
37:39I'm at the...
37:40Go.
37:41I think part of his act of being in my face straight away
37:44and causing me issues was so that the female in the car
37:49could leave.
37:50And she was frantically fidgeting and gathering whatever she was
37:55in the car.
37:56It was hard for me to see what I was dealing with him.
37:57And then promptly left.
37:59So, call me suspicious, but I think if there was anything,
38:03it probably went with her.
38:05Stay there.
38:06You're not giving anything to her.
38:07A female passenger and two children are free to go.
38:11An A27.
38:12The other occupants of the car are leaving.
38:16I've got the mail detained.
38:17It's just been a bit threatening.
38:19Working on your own, single crewed, has its own challenges.
38:22The safest thing to do is to get hold of the person.
38:25If you could do a little bit of help, that's all,
38:27because the guy's not happy.
38:28Challenging behaviour can very quickly turn to aggression,
38:31and so if you don't get control of that situation quickly,
38:34you risk getting hurt.
38:35Is there anything in this car that shouldn't be?
38:37No.
38:38Me?
38:39Well, you shouldn't be in it.
38:41That's fair enough, isn't it?
38:42You know you're not...
38:43Have you got a licence?
38:44No.
38:45Exactly.
38:46So why did you make out that you did?
38:47Because...
38:48Actually, I didn't.
38:49I said it was just for someone else.
38:50I said, have you got a licence?
38:51You said, yeah.
38:52You said, of course I have.
38:53I'm going for a meal.
38:54I'll take my six points.
38:55Go on.
38:56An 827.
38:57I will need a 165, no licence insurance.
39:01You're detained for the purpose of the search.
39:02The ground's been, you stink of it, and...
39:04I stink of weed.
39:05I can smell weed, and I'm dealing with you.
39:07If they're bouncing around all over the place and appear aggressive, then I've got to...
39:12I've got to reflect their behaviour with my own behaviour.
39:16When you talk to me and you breathe on my face, you stink of cannabis.
39:20Do I?
39:21Yes.
39:22You're mad, mate.
39:23Which is part of what they test.
39:24They're trying to see if I'm, you know, if I'm weak, if I'm not going to do that.
39:27If there's no drugs, then we're all calm by the end of this.
39:30You can go on your way with your six points and your £300 fine.
39:32There's no drugs in my car, I'll just tell you.
39:34If you fail a drugs wipe, then you're going to have to come to custody, aren't you?
39:37Do a drugs wipe, please.
39:38I'm going to do one now.
39:40Another unit is backing up Carl.
39:43It should be open, I've got the key.
39:45While officers search the suspect's car, Carl tests the driver for drugs.
39:49So stick your tongue out for me.
39:51You need to go a bit further than that, mate.
39:59I'll keep the device on me, but I'll show you the results of it.
40:04You've passed that, though, pal, like you thought.
40:08So you're going to be reported for no insurance.
40:11If you haven't got a licence, then no licence.
40:13So you don't have to say anything, but it may harm your defence if you're going to mention now something which you're later relying in court.
40:18Anything you do say may be given evidence, all right?
40:20Yeah.
40:21So you'll get a notification in the post for those.
40:23I'm not bothered about any paperwork.
40:24That's fine.
40:25Yeah, that's fine.
40:26So you'll get a letter in the post, because now it's all electronic, you'll not receive out, yeah?
40:30OK.
40:32Yeah, yeah.
40:35He's changed his tune.
40:36We're best mates now.
40:38He's passed the drugs wipe, and it's a negative search.
40:41The car is a mess.
40:44He's got a completely flat front tyre as well.
40:46So it's been seized anyway, and he's saying he don't want it back or want any paperwork.
40:51So she's leaving with nothing.
40:53I waited up the road in a pub car park, and he drove past and ended up pulling into the
41:00same pub car park for his Sunday dinner, which I spoiled because he didn't get it.
41:07Look at this for a car.
41:08I mean, you're telling me that this isn't going to draw attention to police.
41:14It's got no handles on that side or that side.
41:17Nearside tyre is completely flat.
41:19It's a mess.
41:23ANPR has helped take more than half a million uninsured vehicles off UK roads in the last
41:29five years.
41:31We live in a world that's full of CCTV cameras.
41:34If you go out for a drive, you're likely to drive past people's houses, even people's
41:38doorbells are flipping CCTV in them now.
41:41So it's very unlikely your journey's not going to be captured on a camera somewhere.
41:47That's the world we live in.
41:49Technology on the whole is ever improving.
41:52Certainly in policing, it's gone leaps and bounds in recent years.
41:55We've got our fingertips on mobile devices.
41:58We've got access to automatic number plate recognition, cameras, police national computer,
42:04which holds data on not only sort of vehicles, but also people, be that whether they're wanted,
42:09missing, whether there's concerns for them.
42:13And all this is readily available straight from our mobile phones.
42:18In this episode...
42:19Get on the ground!
42:20You'll be tased!
42:21Get on the ground!
42:22The runaway driver who crashed his van was prosecuted for disqualified driving,
42:26failing to stop for police, and no insurance.
42:29Are you under arrest for driving whilst disqualified?
42:31At court, he received a community order with a rehabilitation and unpaid work requirement,
42:37and was banned from the roads for a further 16 months.
42:41You're under arrest of suspicion of child sexual exploitation, okay?
42:45The man arrested under suspicion of child sexual exploitation was released without charge.
42:51Think this car here is going to be your carriage.
42:56Police confirmed the child was not harmed in any way.
42:59Your brother from another mother has got the same date of birth as you.
43:04The man arrested by Matt Cork for not providing his identity was prosecuted for no licence,
43:10no insurance and obstructing a police officer in his duties.
43:14There was absolutely no need for the last hour of my time to be spent with you
43:18when we could have done what we've done now in five minutes.
43:21He received fines and costs totalling £842 and was disqualified from driving for six months.
43:28Get out! Get out! Get out of the car! Undo the door!
43:33Three men arrested in two cloned vans stopped on the motorway remain under investigation for theft.
43:39One of the drivers also remains under investigation for drug driving
43:43whilst police await the results of a blood test.
43:46The other driver has been reported on summons to court for no licence and no insurance.
43:51Another male was released without action.
43:54If you spit in my face, you're on the floor.
43:57And the angry motorist who Carl Jackson was forced to put in cuffs
44:01was reported to court on summons for uninsured driving.
44:05Look at this for a car. I mean, it's a mess.
44:07If found guilty, he's likely to receive six points and a £300 fine.
44:11.
44:12.
44:13.
44:14.
44:17.
44:18.
44:19.
44:20.
44:21.
