Police Interceptors S25E08 (25th May 2026)
Transcript
00:01This is Police Interceptors, and you're riding with the pride of Northamptonshire.
00:13Ace Pursuit drivers, with air support, and a crack dog unit.
00:27They bring down the bad guys, keep the streets safe, and battle 24-7, in the war on crime.
00:45Crash, crash, on the floor now!
00:48This is what it is, isn't it? We find them, we lock them up.
00:53Coming up, the disappearing decamp, can't hide from the dog, robbing the wrong place at
01:10the wrong time, and boxing in a seven-tonner.
01:31It's very early on a Tuesday morning, and someone dodgy has woken a household long before
01:39their alarm clock.
01:41We had a caller report that he's disturbed, some people on foot outside his address.
01:47So we're just in the area, because it sounds like they've run off to see if we can pick
01:52up anybody on foot that's moving around that shouldn't be in the area.
01:56Tania and Tomo have eyes peeled for a group they suspect are in the business of burglary.
02:02It sounds like they've potentially been disturbed trying to get to a garage.
02:06Your four beams are on, just to remind you.
02:08Oh yes, thank you.
02:09There's not much on the road to dazzle at this time, and any car that is moving is of
02:14interest, including this Mini.
02:22Is it the only people in that car?
02:23No.
02:26I thought there was only one, but...
02:29By the time Tomo spins round, the Mini's vanished, which only adds to their suspicions.
02:34We've lost it.
02:35If we go right here, it might have come out on the estate.
02:38Out this way.
02:39Right there.
02:40There are cars on the main road.
02:44Right, is it one of those?
02:48Errr...
02:49No.
02:49No.
02:51But no sign of the disappearing Mini they saw a minute ago.
02:56However...
02:56Hello boss, we're behind that one-thirty-year-old component Mini.
02:59Light blue, black and white, checked green.
03:02A nearby armed response vehicle is now behind a Mini.
03:05Oh my God, I don't.
03:06That's the one that's went past us.
03:07No.
03:09That Mini went past us.
03:10The ARVs have just said they've sighted it going this way.
03:14And if anything were needed to make the car even more interesting, its registration
03:18does the job.
03:20It's a...
03:20It's a cloned vehicle.
03:21No.
03:236-1, we're trying to make ground on you now with Gladstone Road.
03:27Errr, yeah, so the unmarked vehicle ahead's got the subject vehicle in sight, so the plan,
03:33they're just discussing tactics will be for us to try and get it stopped.
03:38In convoy with the lead ARV, they're waiting for reinforcements to box the cloned Mini in.
03:45It's testing us now.
03:46It is, yeah.
03:49In the meantime, they suspect the driver's toying with the idea of failing to stop.
03:54Yeah, copy.
03:55So, when the Mini pulls up at Roadworks, the lead ARV moves to get in front of it.
04:14Oh, and it's off.
04:17A two-car convoy pursues the Mini out of the Roadworks and onto residential streets.
04:22Tomo and Tanya at the back.
04:24Volvo ARV at the sharp end.
04:26Thanks.
04:27Taking clothes of out.
04:33I don't know how much thatё is.
04:57This is a dead end.
04:59Ah, is it?
05:00Yeah.
05:01I think this is a dead end.
05:02It looks like the driver plans to bail out.
05:09Well done.
05:10But not before some dicey off-roading.
05:16He's away on his toes.
05:21With a pack of cops on his tail.
05:32And somehow, he's vanished again.
05:51And it's off.
05:54Interceptors are after the driver of a cloned Mini that failed to stop near the area of a potential burglary.
06:00I think this is a dead end, Cutler.
06:02They cornered the car, but lost their man.
06:07You weren't that far beyond him, really.
06:10He didn't have time to run out of sight, so he must be hiding.
06:14Good news for the heavyweight champion of hide-and-seek.
06:18Who, heralded by an ARV police escort, has just arrived.
06:26Enter police dog Peggy, who, unlike us mortals...
06:32Not been able to see which way he's gone, because of the wool and stuff.
06:36...effectively looks straight through bricks and mortar on account of looking with her nose.
06:44Peggy leads her handler Sean straight into a garden.
06:51But there's not much doing here.
07:01Or is there?
07:05I think that's German Shepherd for game over, Tanya.
07:11First garden on the right.
07:13Move, you get bit by the dog.
07:14Stay still, fella, don't move.
07:16Peggy's tracked down a suspect in double-quick time.
07:19Go that side.
07:23Get your hands where we can see him.
07:25Right, you're under arrest, mate.
07:27Get your hands where I can see him.
07:29Get on the floor.
07:31Yeah, we got him.
07:31He isn't playing ball.
07:32Get on the floor.
07:33Get on the floor.
07:34I'm trying to...
07:35Get your hand out.
07:36And it's unwise to struggle.
07:39Get down, look at that dog.
07:42Because the dog has other modes than track.
07:45You're under arrest, mate.
07:48Get down, look at that dog.
07:49Get down, look at that dog.
07:52Luckily for this guy, he's cuffed before Sean gets Peggy to detain.
07:57You're under arrest, suspicion of being unfit as well to drive through drink or drugs.
08:05What's your name, chap?
08:06Eugene.
08:07Eugene.
08:08Right, Eugene, roll on his side.
08:10Put your feet out.
08:10You know the drill.
08:11There we go, look at that.
08:13Right.
08:14Ready?
08:15Ready to see you one.
08:19Tommy, are you all right to have them out?
08:22Two seconds.
08:22I'm going to grab this and take them.
08:24No messing about, mate.
08:26A set of garden shears here, close to where he was found.
08:29To be fair, it's covered in dew, especially on the handle, so I think this is just here
08:33from the homeowner.
08:36Buddy, you got anything on you?
08:37You don't need to be aware of?
08:37No.
08:38Any injuries, anything like that?
08:39No.
08:41Peggy found the suspect in under a minute, yet he's convinced he nearly got away.
08:46She knew enough didn't find me.
08:48She was right about half a foot next to me.
08:50She was about to walk off.
08:52Yeah, right, mate.
08:53The dog was looking at me and that actually went to lick me.
08:57And then it went...
08:57Did she?
08:58Seriously, yeah.
08:59Oh, right, yeah.
09:01Sure she did.
09:02Trust me.
09:03I won't, thanks.
09:06And for the record, runaways licked by Peggy often need stitches.
09:10Please go, dog, go.
09:12You wouldn't be smiling then.
09:13I'm lucky for you.
09:15I know.
09:15She didn't, and here we are.
09:17I'm just going to check your ankles, mate.
09:18You been drinking tonight?
09:20Nope.
09:21Smoked anything you shouldn't have done?
09:23Nope.
09:23What about the crack pipe over there?
09:25That's me tobacco pipe.
09:26It's a tobacco pipe, is it?
09:28Yep.
09:28He smokes a pipe, apparently.
09:30Like Sherlock Holmes.
09:32Are you sure about that?
09:33Yeah.
09:34Positive.
09:36Something else may be positive in a few minutes.
09:39Right, you're going to be a drug boy.
09:40Must advise you that failing to provide a drug by revenge,
09:43you're being arrested for failing to provide,
09:44and we'll take you to custody.
09:46The driver's twitchy behaviour suggests he smoked more than tobacco.
09:50Are you able to stand still?
09:52Oh, not really, you're not.
09:54Do you want to lead against the wall?
09:55Yeah.
09:56Make it easy for you?
09:56Yeah, yeah.
09:57There you go.
09:58I'll still keep hold of you, though, just in case you're not over.
10:00My trousers are coming down, that's all.
10:01Have you smoked anything in the last five minutes?
10:03Say again?
10:03Have you smoked anything in the last five minutes?
10:05No?
10:05Had any alcohol today?
10:06Had any drugs today?
10:07No.
10:07Okay.
10:08Stick your tongue out as far as you can.
10:11Keep going further up.
10:12That's it.
10:16It takes eight minutes for the results of the least surprising drug wipe in history.
10:23Right, buddy, you are being further arrested for suspicion of driving whilst unfit through
10:29cocaine in your system, because you could come back as a positive on cocaine.
10:32You might want to have a word with your tobacconist, Sherlock.
10:35Well, I think you should let me go, don't you?
10:38You reckon?
10:38Yeah, I reckon that would look good for TV, wouldn't it?
10:42I'm not sure about that.
10:43He's got a heart.
10:44I don't think that's what the general public would expect us to do.
10:50Having declined the chance to let him go and prove the police have a heart, they send
10:54him off to custody.
10:56How are you comfortable, aren't I?
10:57I am.
10:58He's anchored to that and all, but I'm not one to my own.
11:03I have met Eugene previously, so I am aware of some of his past.
11:10So he could have been up to some criminality, could have been going for a late night drive.
11:15However, I imagine he failed to stop for officers because he is under the influence of drugs,
11:20which, you know, is a crime.
11:22Ours is doctoring your number plate.
11:24Put some tape over the first zero.
11:27So it's, um, to evade our number plate recognition.
11:32So not a clone after all, but still illegal.
11:35A bit like his tyres.
11:37The cord is showing through the tyre.
11:41Still.
11:42Keep going, keep going, keep going.
11:44Stop.
11:44Have a little sit down.
11:46Wow, zero, zero.
11:48At least he hasn't been drinking.
11:50Of course.
11:52Zero.
11:52It doesn't mean we're going to have to go to the blood procedure for the drug side.
11:55All right.
11:59No further action was taken regarding doctored plates, failing to stop or any allegations of burglary.
12:07However, after refusing to give a blood sample, Mr. Happy pleaded guilty to failure to provide,
12:13dangerous driving, and driving with the cord of a tyre exposed.
12:17The smile was wiped from his face when he was ordered to pay 187 pounds,
12:22lost his licence for more than two years,
12:24and was sent down for 32 weeks at his majesty's pleasure.
12:36Yeah, get by.
12:38Interceptors make challenging situations look easy.
12:41Come on!
12:44Even at three-figure speeds.
12:47I'm doing 35 miles an hour and this fog is not fun.
12:50But cops aren't born with these skills.
12:53They train within an inch of their lives.
12:55There he is, there he is.
12:58Driving.
12:59Big stop.
13:00I'm not going to wake you up!
13:02Cheers, cheers, eh!
13:03Firearms work.
13:06Dog training.
13:08I got it, I got it.
13:09You name it, they drill it.
13:19And tonight, Sean's been on an exercise in a key local training area.
13:25As places to commit crime go, this could be one of the worst.
13:31But no one's told this mob.
13:38I doubt it's in five, I've got to say, fat meals.
13:41One's legged it.
13:43And in the heartbeat it takes to spring police dog Peggy...
13:46Get out, get out!
13:48The rest are away in the van.
13:50It's going to fail, stop, get in, go.
13:56Sean's clocked a man in a high viz in the back of the van,
13:59while two others throw boxes in.
14:01As the dog man stops, high viz makes a run for it.
14:10Sean and Peggy move in,
14:11but the stragglers jump aboard the van and take off,
14:14back doors flapping in the night.
14:19Foul stop.
14:21By the time Sean's got Peggy safely back in the dog van,
14:24they're playing catch-up.
14:25The vehicle's left towards Petford Road,
14:27I don't need some more down here.
14:31Five males doing boxes over the fence.
14:35I've got one run into the Brat Mills in yellow high viz,
14:38four back in the vehicle.
14:39Sean's a master dog handler with 14 years in the unit.
14:43He often works as an instructor in this very area.
14:48I was outnumbered, got back in.
14:49Which, of course...
14:50I've got your location coming to you.
14:52The whole force knows, like its own backyard.
14:56Rookie error, coming to a place where we do our firearms training.
14:59Multiple units are descending.
15:01Was he down there doing dog training?
15:03Including Sam at the wheel of an armed response vehicle.
15:06And alongside him...
15:08A-V-2, we're on the A-45.
15:11Paul Gale.
15:12So we've got the dog unit that came across there.
15:16Another dog mobile that's nearby.
15:19Us and then a couple of other ARVs are all making towards the scene.
15:25At the scene, there's an update from Sean,
15:27who's kept the runaway van in sight.
15:30Vehicles, Brat Mills, it's D-Camp, D-Camp,
15:33Lilliput Road at the end.
15:35Four have bailed out and done a runner.
15:40The bad guys have a good head start.
15:42Come on.
15:44But Sean has an advantage of his own.
15:47Wait.
15:48We've got to cut them off.
15:49Somebody gets to, like, the Bedford roadside.
15:52I think they've gone over a security fence in.
15:55CCF, Charlie Charlie Fox, right?
15:56I can't get it.
15:57The gang may have given them the slip.
15:59They've gone over a really high security fence, mate.
16:02Right at the end of Lilliput,
16:04but towards the Bedford road.
16:09Sean opts to check out the van full of stolen goods.
16:14Yeah, to the right.
16:15But more dog units were training in the area,
16:18including Ash Price and police dog Ebby.
16:22That's where the four went.
16:23If you go back down that road, turn right,
16:26you know, the alleyway on the left that goes to the car auction place.
16:28The newcomers can go after the first suspect at Leggett.
16:31Yeah.
16:31Tall lads, yellow vest with a grey tracksuit bottoms.
16:35You might get a track from there, mate.
16:36He went into that alleyway.
16:39Ah, she's gone back that way.
16:40She's think, get one down there.
16:42I'm just going to work out if I can get through there with her safely.
16:47Sean would dearly love to get Peggy after the four who scaled the security gates.
16:53You've dialed an incorrect number.
16:55Thank you for calling.
16:57But there's no joy opening them up.
16:59See if I can get in down there.
17:01A bit of recceeing.
17:03Do you know if you can get in any of the compounds down on the right,
17:06or is it just this one?
17:07Down there.
17:08Just this one?
17:08Yeah.
17:09OK, no worries, thank you.
17:10Suggests there's no other way in.
17:14Right.
17:15Peggy, I'm going to try and get you over later.
17:18So it's a 40 kilo clean and jerk for Sean.
17:24Some agility work for Peggy.
17:26Peg's a hit up.
17:28Good girl.
17:30Right.
17:32And they're in.
17:33Come on, tap up.
17:34There's a gun.
17:42Peggy leads them straight to a fence at the far end.
17:47I've come through the compound,
17:49and I've got to where they've got out,
17:51but I can't get out.
17:52It's too dangerous to the dog.
17:53But home is not lost,
17:54because there are useful forensics snagged on their escape route.
18:03So far, just a top and a hat,
18:05which they'd use to cover the barbed wire on the fence in.
18:09I'm just going to go round the other side
18:11and see if we can pick the track up from there.
18:13Let's go, Papa.
18:14Peggy seems to have a scent.
18:19I've picked up something,
18:19and she's taken me to the other side of the river now,
18:21like crossed over,
18:22so I'm just trying to work out where it goes from here.
18:23But after a lengthy track...
18:25Let's see if there's nothing else.
18:30Where's it going?
18:32The only thing Sean discovers is that the main group has got away.
18:38We've picked up a bit of a track,
18:40and then come through quite a busy footfall area,
18:42out towards the main road where we believe they've probably been picked up.
18:45But there are two hairs on this particular track.
18:49And on the other side of the industrial estate...
18:53Ash and Ebi are hunting the first suspect to run.
19:00The guy in the high-vis jacket who legged it before the van took off.
19:08It's a tall order when so much time has passed.
19:11But Ebi loves a challenge.
19:14Mate, police for the dog, get out here now.
19:17Delta 2-6 officers to me, please.
19:20Mate, get out here.
19:22On the floor.
19:23You're going to get bitten if you don't get on the floor.
19:25Stay there.
19:26I'm going to get other cops here,
19:27but you will be bitten if you move.
19:28Do you understand?
19:29Let's hope so.
19:31One detained at the minute.
19:33Right, mate.
19:35I'm going to walk you back to the alleyway.
19:37I'm going to make it perfectly clear.
19:39You do anything I don't tell you to do,
19:41you'll be bitten by this dog.
19:42Do you understand?
19:44You're under arrest on suspicion of theft at the minute.
19:46You don't have to say anything.
19:47You don't mention when questioned.
19:49Somebody later on in court.
19:50Anything you can do so, maybe we can give you evidence.
19:51Do you understand?
19:55The firearms boys arrive to help with the arrest.
19:58That's the alleyway.
20:01Keep walking that way, mate,
20:02until you see a police car.
20:04I want you to head up towards these officers here, all right?
20:06Have you locked him up?
20:08Yeah, I've locked him up, mate.
20:09If you could just cuff him for me, that would be great.
20:11Just stop there, mate.
20:12Turn around, put your hands on your back.
20:15Good girl, Abbie, well done.
20:17Well done, you're clever.
20:19You got anything on you shouldn't have?
20:20No.
20:21Anything that's going to harm me or you?
20:22Anything sharp?
20:23Like Abbie's gnashes, for instance.
20:25Good job, Abbie, well done.
20:26Which you'd know about if they got hold of you.
20:29In.
20:32You haven't been bitten or anything like that, no?
20:33You haven't been bitten by the dog or anything, no?
20:35No, I don't.
20:35Kill.
20:37He may not have been on the wrong end of Abbie's bite,
20:40but he was certainly in the wrong place at the wrong time.
20:43By chance, Sean and I have just been doing some dog training
20:45in this industrial estate,
20:47and Abbie's had a really nice track for him
20:49up and round this footpath.
20:51And then she's found him.
20:52He'd concealed himself in undergrowth down there,
20:55hiding under all the leaves and the shrubbery.
20:57And she's sniffed him out and we've pulled him out,
21:01locked him up and, yeah, walked him back out.
21:04After checking CCTV of the theft with security...
21:07There you go, what's that?
21:09That's the box.
21:11..it seems the thief brazenly slipped inside the warehouse.
21:15He's been heading through the secure area into the compound.
21:18He's been able to access a pallet full of high-value clothing
21:23and get that out the main warehouse to the side of the gate
21:27where he's the one throwing it over the fence.
21:30The runner dug out of the undergrowth by Abbie
21:32is currently under investigation for theft.
21:35And with a forensics bonanza from the van
21:37and the clothing recovered by Peggy,
21:40he may not be the only one once CSI work their magic.
21:45What is for sure, though,
21:46is this lot picked the wrong spot for a burglary.
21:52Like, whilst the dogs came across it
21:54because they were here training anyway,
21:56it was only a few minutes before another unit was here,
21:58so it's really good.
22:04Coming up...
22:05Get out!
22:06Get out!
22:07A car thief comes to the wrong county.
22:10Get out of the car, mate.
22:11Get out of the car.
22:11Get out of the car.
22:12You're under arrest for theft of motor vehicle.
22:1520 pallets of shoes.
22:17What's worth there calls for snowshoes...
22:20Oh, God.
22:21I thought we were going to crash then.
22:23Slipping snow here.
22:24And you still have no reason to be in lane three.
22:27You should have been in lane one.
22:28You weren't overtaking anything.
22:29The dream of everyone who's ever met a middle lane hog.
22:33You may well be offered a driving standards course.
22:48When it comes to commercial theft,
22:51there's no link in the supply chain that's safe.
22:55We've already seen a warehouse get turned over.
22:58Get out!
22:59Get out!
23:00Five males doing boxes over the fence.
23:04But bad guys are just as likely to strike on the shop floor.
23:10Or...
23:10There's parcels falling out of the back of the vehicle.
23:13Anywhere in between.
23:15So this will be where they've cut the side.
23:17And given that that looting van was half full of these boxes,
23:21I would say we've probably prevented quite a high-value theft.
23:35It's the dead of winter and a freezing shift for Lloyd and Harrison.
23:40Stolen from trailer.
23:42But things are warming up on Interceptor FM.
23:44The driver doesn't speak English.
23:47She's contacted his daughter.
23:49She's just waking up to his trailer.
23:52And it's been a little cut open.
23:55Reports are on the airwaves of a Curtainside theft...
23:59She had 24 pallets in total.
24:01I think there's four pallets left.
24:03...of high-fashion footwear.
24:0520 pallets of shoes.
24:08Curtainsiders slash fabric lorry sides
24:10then cart off the goods inside.
24:12Often in an HGV of their own.
24:16All time for this, sir.
24:181.59.
24:19The cops think they've identified the getaway lorry.
24:22It's not given a location by the image.
24:26But it seems invisible to all but a few ANPR cameras.
24:30Harrison thinks he knows why.
24:33Well, I'm just looking at it on, Naz.
24:34It looks like it's potentially got perspex over some of the hits.
24:37Copy that.
24:39If the bad guys have obscured their plate,
24:41it's not enough to fool every camera.
24:44And certainly not enough to fool Harrison and Lloyd.
24:46The only place it's going to go, isn't it, is the A1.
24:49Working from scarce confirmed camera locations,
24:52they plot a route to intercept.
24:55We're looking for a HGV that's potentially been involved
24:57in a high-value theft of pallets in Northampton.
25:01They've just got a wrench of it,
25:02and it's definitely a cloned vehicle.
25:04I think we know where it's going to be going back to.
25:08It's going to be a case of seeing if we can catch up with it.
25:12Harrison's stopped his fair share of getaway vehicles,
25:15but this one will be a taller order than most.
25:20It's going to take some stopping,
25:21but hopefully if it hits another camera,
25:23we'll be too far away from it.
25:25Based on its direction of travel and last known location,
25:28the target seems to be heading for the border.
25:31It's going to be going to the A1s, yeah, 100%.
25:33I might have Lincolnshire, let them know.
25:35Yeah.
25:36They're normally pretty good, to be fair.
25:37Harrison gives the neighbours a heads up.
25:40Lynx receiving November Golf Rumi Papi 6-4.
25:45Right, anyway.
25:47No, it's actually a vehicle that's potentially
25:49going to be heading back towards the A1 at Stamford
25:51and probably going north on the A1.
25:53It's going to be what looks like probably a 7.5 tonner.
25:56It's been involved in a op barrack
25:58in Northampton town centre.
26:00Op barrack is a cross-country initiative
26:02to tackle gangs who rip off lorries.
26:05Just for your awareness,
26:06it's probably coming onto your first area, we'd expect.
26:11Neighbouring forces are usually quick with support,
26:14but there's a problem.
26:16Just because of the weather conditions,
26:17so we're limiting our resources
26:19to urgent sort of high-priority institutions.
26:23Just because of the risk of officers going out.
26:25Due to their weather conditions,
26:26they're not going out for it.
26:28Curbing resources for bad weather seems overly cautious.
26:33Oh, God.
26:36Until Lloyd crosses the border
26:37and learns the cold truth.
26:40It's a bit of snow in here.
26:41It's snowing.
26:42The A1's a death trap.
26:44Oh, we're going to crash then.
26:45And serious speed is not an option.
26:48I'll have to slow down, mate.
26:50Do you feel this?
26:50Yeah.
26:51It drifts our throat, then.
26:52There's snow in here.
26:54This is not what the good guys ordered.
26:56It's actual snow.
26:58Lloyd's driving a kipper on ice.
27:00Just because of the weather conditions,
27:01we're not going to get involved.
27:03Lincolnshire are out of the picture.
27:05We'll watch it again.
27:06Yeah, we're obviously doing it.
27:06The changes will react.
27:08And a lorry load of swanky shoes
27:10is slipping away in a snowstorm.
27:13I do appreciate what you said
27:14about the weather conditions.
27:16It wasn't like this in our county.
27:18Lloyd and Harrison are off their patch
27:20and on their own.
27:22The thing is, they've only got three ARVs
27:24that would help us, so...
27:25We're not with it, are we?
27:27But North Hans don't like to throw in the towel.
27:31We are on the A1 in your Foss area, though,
27:33so are you happy we keep going
27:35or do you want us to cancel?
27:37It's not worth the risk.
27:39It's shut down.
27:41Yeah, it's copied.
27:42The film's cancelled us, mate.
27:45Game over.
27:47Lloyd needs to turn back at the next junction.
27:50This is the one that got away.
27:54Is that it?
27:56Or is it?
27:58Is that it?
27:58Yeah, that's it.
28:01The clone lorry is up ahead.
28:03Contact, contact.
28:05Just go past it, mate.
28:06And there's more than one Maverick on the A1 tonight.
28:09He's got a marked cam due to behind him.
28:12A sole linkager unit has stumbled on the target
28:15and kept behind it.
28:17Let's go past it, mate.
28:19With a cross-border wingman in the fight,
28:22it's got to be worth another round.
28:23So Lloyd ducks off the dual carriageway
28:26and Harrison shouts up the Iceman
28:28in the lorry's slipstream.
28:30We've got another T-pass car
28:32that should be with us in a couple of minutes.
28:34Another unit's flying in
28:35and there's hope a third county can lend a hand.
28:42Yeah, that's copied.
28:44We'll rejoin behind you.
28:45A few lorries back.
28:47Copy that.
28:48But as Lloyd and Harrison rejoin the A1,
28:51the rogue lorry makes a beeline for a slip road ahead.
28:54It just looks like it's pulling off standby.
28:57Shit.
28:58Where are they?
28:59The marked Lincolnshire car
29:01has pulled off behind the target.
29:03Its occupants can be in no doubt now
29:06that they're being followed.
29:07They're aware of following them.
29:09They're going to get out of front very quickly.
29:11Everything spells decam.
29:13You ready for this?
29:14Yes, mate.
29:15Let know we're with them.
29:16Let know we're with them.
29:17Let know we're with them.
29:18Let know we're with them.
29:19The cops are with you.
29:21Copy.
29:22The target's pulled into a line of lorries
29:24that stopped when the road got too dangerous.
29:27They're out, they're out, they're out, they're out, they're out.
29:29Two have legged it, one's still in the cab.
29:32Please, not taser, show me your hands now.
29:34Show me your hands now.
29:35Get out of the cab.
29:36I've got a bad name, mate.
29:37Yeah, get out.
29:38Police officer taser.
29:39Step out of the vehicle now.
29:41The driver has a crook knee
29:43which may explain why he didn't sprint in the snow.
29:46I'll be careful with you.
29:47You've got a taser on you.
29:48Stay where you are.
29:50And he limps out of the cab straight into cuffs.
29:53All right, give me your hands.
29:54Give me your hands, give me your hands.
29:55You're in wrestling a minute from theft at the minute.
29:57Probably no license, no insurance.
29:59The vehicle's cloned as well.
30:01It's a great collar, but in this weather and location...
30:04Right, right, have six thought.
30:06The arrest is no picnic.
30:08We've got one detained.
30:09While I'm chatting with you, I need to get you in this car away
30:11because obviously it's shit weather and I don't want you to...
30:14What's up with your knee, mate?
30:15What's up with your knee?
30:16I don't know.
30:16I don't know.
30:17I don't know.
30:18I'm caught.
30:18I don't know.
30:19So the 24-pallet question...
30:24What's in the back?
30:27What we got?
30:32From 6-4, it's full of unsecured, badly-packed boxes.
30:39that are all just falling out onto us um yeah i'd say it's gonna be this thing do we know
30:45what the
30:46contents were asos clothing if the shoe fits yeah we've got all asos parcels here and there are
30:54plenty of them it looks like she's literally been handballed across it's not even properly stacked
31:03or anything it's a seven and a half turner full front to back it seems nailed on that this is
31:09their lorry it's got all the stolen stuff in the back and um he's got no license no insurance
31:14so yeah it's a really good result especially for the um driver who's had all his stuff nicked but
31:19he said it's high value so it'll be in there probably tens of thousands so you'll think
31:23he'll be pretty pleased that we've managed to get it get it recovered and get the get the offender
31:27in custody i appreciate there's more people out there so um be nice to have them as well but you
31:33know we'll take this and as long as we get the stuff back we get names in there obviously you
31:36got someone in custody for it go mate harrison's suspicions of how the lorry evaded ampr cameras
31:43were bang on it's got a essentially got a film over the top of it a thin layer of film
31:47which is
31:48meant to mask its true identity from the ampr cameras but as you can see it doesn't always work
31:55no further action was taken against the driver with the dodgy knee regarding any allegations of
32:00theft from a motor vehicle however he pleaded guilty to driving without a license or insurance
32:06and fraudulent use of a vehicle registration mark he got eight points on his license and a 280 pound fine
32:17i'm really surprised he stopped especially in the snow because that would have been
32:20if he'd have wanted to drive his way out he probably could have done
32:35ever encounter a driver hugging the middle lane and wish you could give them a piece of your mind
32:43what is he playing at well amazingly it happens to cops too
32:48the black bmw sat in lane three at the motorway for absolutely no reason uh not overtaking and the
32:55beauty is cops can do something about it so we're going to give him a stop and then why is
33:01nobody
33:01driving charlie and charlie overtake the right charlie in the beamer and hit the follow me sign
33:10he's holding right back again behind them the driver slows to a crawl
33:18he's coming slowly but he eventually lifts up the main road and into a car park
33:30go on
33:33hello sir how are you okay i'm all right do you have your license on you yep wonderful thank you
33:38sir
33:41so the reason we stopped you today was the fact you were traveling in lane three okay why were you
33:46traveling in lane three of the motorway with no reason no what you were doing by traveling in lane
33:52three was basically causing a blockade okay because cars were having to go from lane one to lane two to
33:57lane three to lane four to pass you to come back into lane one which is where you should have
34:01been
34:02amen to that you were traveling at less than 50 miles an hour there was a speed limit 50 miles
34:07per hour
34:08not not the bit you were in either way even if it was a 50 mile an hour limit you
34:13still had no reason
34:14to be in lane three you should have been in lane one you weren't overtaking anything okay
34:19sorry i'm just checking your tires bud yeah yeah his car and docks are in order but if he's hoping
34:24to get
34:24away with a talking to he's going to be disappointed what's going to happen next oh you're going to be
34:30receiving a ticket driving without due care and attention one down several thousand to go lane one
34:36is your default lane especially when you're traveling 50 miles an hour but the great educating of lane
34:41honks has to start somewhere you may well be offered a driving standards course in relating to this
34:47it's down to our traffic process team ticket issued sermon complete it's back on the road
34:54just in time for something a bit more tasty it was stolen from nottingham leisure center earlier
34:59on this morning a car stolen in the next county has been snapped on the m1 heading this way
35:06stand by for the bump the boys plot up above the motorway to look for it it's a green
35:13slash murky yellow looking fiesta
35:17the ford fiesta is the most common car in the uk with around one and a half million in circulation
35:23yeah charlie's gonna get out but not many answer to the description green slash murky yellow
35:30we're gonna shift out the way mate just hide the car
35:42and it doesn't take long to get a sighting it's there it's there it's there it's there
35:47time to intercept one one standby standby standby eyeball subject to vehicle m1 south junction 16
36:00towards 15 alpha now with two marked cars on its tail we're gonna hold back
36:12the fiesta is a few hundred meters in front of the cops just ahead of us lane two front of
36:19the lorry
36:20it's tucked in between two hgvs and hard to keep tabs on is it coming off potentially
36:28the target may be leaving the motorway but the cops have lost sight of it can you see him
36:32no it's in front of the heavy but i'll see it because the red lorry yeah yeah they need to
36:37keep
36:37the stolen car in the crosshairs until enough units arrive to box it in we're waiting for um
36:43some t-pack resources charlie slows and following the highway code pulls into lane one where they can
36:51monitor the exit slip so yeah as much fuel as possible if the fiesta ducks off the motorway they
36:57don't want to miss it if he gets into the services we'll do a reinforce if it comes to a
37:03stop yeah
37:04the target's passing the slip oh he's off he's gonna go mate he's gonna go mate no he's dived off
37:10at the
37:11last minute there's the alv the stolen fiesta now has three cars tailing it including the unmarked
37:20armed response vehicle in front where behind you if it comes to a stop for a reinforced
37:27he's on the garage forecourt boxed in like their pre-packed sarnies
37:35get out get out get out get out the car get out the car and he's nicked you're under arrest
37:39the theft of motor vehicle you do not have to say anything may on your defense if you don't
37:42mention when questioned something which later line in court anything you do say may be given an evidence
37:48uh we'll go lean against this car here buddy just lean against it do you understand what's going on
37:56ah well i don't know i mean i didn't i didn't get what i mean you don't get what we
38:01mean this car
38:02was stolen earlier on today in nottingham you're now driving a stolen car so you're under arrest okay
38:10you're going to go to custody you're going to go to custody and you'll be interviewed about it there
38:15in the meantime the owner of the fiesta will be very relieved to get it back it's got a disabled
38:22walker in the back not only is there a walking aid in the back but the boots packed with pricey
38:27looking fishing gear and the little fishy who nicked it is being hauled in
38:40and put on ice thanks very much enjoy your stay
38:49the middle lane hogger is off the hook as no further action was taken
38:55the thief reeled in on the m1 and landed on the forecourt pleaded guilty to theft of a motor vehicle
39:01he got a four-week suspended sentence and was ordered to pay 154 pounds in charges
39:08meanwhile the owner got his car and fishing gear back in double quick time
39:15so within a few hours of the car being reported stolen
39:18uh we've now got the car recovered there's no damage to it so all in all a really really good
39:24job
39:24and resolved within a few hours
39:31coming up the tree's absolutely massive when you can't see the wood for the trees start off small
39:38clear and then go massive
40:01it's 2 30 and storm bertie has blown chaos into the county
40:07oh christ alive interceptor james condon is at the scene of some storm damage to offer his expert
40:15horticultural appraisal oh it's only a little one then yeah a monster tree has come down on the a4500
40:25uh yeah this is gonna need a full closure the tree's absolutely massive
40:32in the absence of special branch it falls to jc to check it out i'll go and have a little
40:38look at the tree and see what well if anything we can do thank you
40:47she's one for the hat this is
40:51the storms wreaked havoc reaching speeds of over a hundred miles an hour
40:58wow storm burnt which might not trouble a pursuit car
41:03that's huge but it has proved to be a high-speed tree terminator
41:08this could have been fatal if this had um gone over in a car had come past i would say
41:14this could
41:15have been fatal mercifully no one was hurt and now the mission begins to clear the road
41:22um yeah yeah it could be a waiting game for this one
41:29cleared it's looking like a long afternoon for jc
41:34until reinforcements roll in ask some questions and see if he wants to start pulling some stuff out
41:39of the way for us a local logger is on hand to help
41:47he's got the tools and he's got the numbers he said he's got a yard full of lads that can
41:52come
41:52down and literally sort this out time to release the big guns
42:08he's not allowed to touch it unless he gets permission from highways or the county council
42:14stand down the big guns roll out the red tape just gonna call them now
42:20with u-turn chaos on the carriageway everything hinges on the man from the council
42:41and the crane doing its worst it's all systems stop
42:59unfortunately um due to contracting issues they um they weren't able to do the full job
43:07the council may have authorized the work but they won't pay for it
43:10and community spirits can only go so far out of goodwill uh they've opened a lane for us so we've
43:18just got to tidy up a little bit more before we can consider letting any more traffic come through
43:24but charity light leaves is thick on the ground today and within minutes a local car recovery team
43:31offers to muck in uh community volunteers round two guys just stopped at the road and asked if you could
43:38assist with pulling it out the uh road uh so i've taken him up on his offer and explained the
43:43situation
43:43uh and he's said he's going to give it a go with no contract issues i hope this time
43:55well he's got part of it it's a big ask go on then watch back
44:04especially for trucks designed for cars not trees who cares about that but with plenty of horsepower
44:15gets it out of the way doesn't it and a bit of ingenuity easy look at that two hours after
44:21jc
44:22arrived on scene he's helping sweep up the last few twigs have a nice weekend the coast is clear
44:34thanks to a truckload of community spirit and a trunk full of elbow grease
44:40yeah we certainly earned our uh our cup of tea definitely certainly earned our uh end of shift
44:48beer i think tonight as well tre-mendous yeah
44:57uh
45:01uh
45:02uh
45:04uh
