00:00This is how little we come up here. I think we just found a fridge here.
00:03I have a problem now. I'm a coffee snob because of this guy.
00:06The quality of sleep all depends on the roads or the driver.
00:30Yes, who's this? Oh, it's a bus tour. Welcome, come on in.
00:44How's it going? Come on in, come on in.
00:46This is our tour bus for the summer 2025 of our headline tour, Bigger Than You Think, 25th anniversary tour of Simple Plan.
00:53And it's a first for us to be touring North America with a double-decker bus. So that's pretty sweet.
00:59So when we go to Europe, usually we request like a double-decker.
01:03It's sort of a standard there, but it wasn't available in America.
01:06The difference is pretty major. It has basically, you know, when you got a double-decker, you got a really front, a big front lounge.
01:13And then all the bunks are in the second tier, the second level, and you have a front lounge, which is pretty sick.
01:20We're not going, do you ever go?
01:22I've been once and I had a beautiful morning in the front lounge when we were still driving through the desert,
01:28through the canyons and all that, and it was absolutely beautiful, but I rarely go.
01:31I don't really...
01:32We're sharing with our crew and it's sort of their area.
01:35Well, I don't really hang out on the bus. I rarely hang out on the bus.
01:39I'll go to the dressing room or I just go to a coffee shop in the city that we're in.
01:42But another main difference that usually when you get into a bus in North America, you get in through the front.
01:47So you have to walk through the lounge to get to where the bunks are.
01:51Now these double-deckers that are usually European buses, you kind of get in through the middle and you can go upstairs right away
01:56or get into the kitchen section that has a few seats, big TV.
02:02Over there is the driver's quarters, so you don't really have to...
02:06You don't bother the driver ever. You never have to walk past him to get in and out of the bus.
02:10TV section where you can play your video games if you want.
02:13As soon as we get off stage, I jump in the shower and I go to bed.
02:16So I'm never here. I don't even know who hangs out here. Who hangs out here?
02:19I'll tell you. So at night after the show, the people who want to have a last drink before going to bed will stay here.
02:25I have indulged with the crew. It's mainly the crew, you know.
02:29And you will have Lucas, our content creator, loves video games.
02:34So he has played quite a few games with my son who kicks his ass.
02:38Yes, it is true. Our photographer and our video team, they do spend some time here late at night
02:44because we want them to edit everything so we can post it quite quickly.
02:48So they're very professional and they work until the wee hours of the morning right down here on the table
02:52to make sure they can deliver the content for us.
02:54This is the kitchen. So we've got our sink, our countertop with a bunch of snacks,
02:58coffee machine we don't use, microwave. I don't know where they put that in there.
03:02Has anybody ever used it?
03:03I use the microwave all the time.
03:04Okay, so this is the guy. So basically, this is like sort of like the writer that we bring back.
03:11You know, some people love their tequila, other people like love their rum.
03:17Seven and I don't really indulge all that much, but once in a while, you know.
03:22I think it's funny, sometimes you open up a drawer and there's like blueberries or whatever
03:25and then someone's name is on it, like this.
03:27See, that's mine. This is Jeff's pineapple.
03:29I forgot I had that!
03:30Don't eat Jeff's pineapple, apparently.
03:32Ever! Ever!
03:33So I keep, you know, fruit for me. I want to have like fresh fruit every day
03:37because for some reason, like you don't really get them at catering.
03:40And Sebastian got me this sick, well Sebastian in front of ours, Australian coffee.
03:47Because Seb, man, I have a problem now. I'm a coffee snob because of this guy.
03:52I know, I know. So it's a fun way to pass the day when you're on a tour is to go to a coffee shop and all that
03:57and then you realize that it turns out the bus coffee isn't always all that great.
04:01So you make your own. You bring your own coffee, get the little AeroPress going.
04:05That's mine, yeah.
04:06And then you make your own coffee every day.
04:07It was delicious.
04:09Fantastic, yeah.
04:10Yeah. So, and you know, like we have like a few things. The magic bullet is mine.
04:14I want to make sure I get shakes in when I'm not able to eat properly.
04:18And something else you might actually notice about the European buses or the double-deckers
04:22that the ceiling is quite low. Like I can fit. I'm not super tall, but some of our people are always hunching.
04:27The North American buses, because there's not two stories, they're a little bit taller.
04:31So these ones are pretty low. So it could be a little bit more claustrophobic, I think.
04:34So yeah, that's pretty much it. You know, like try to, it's a balance of, you know, a bit of alcohol, healthy stuff.
04:42I'm hiding my fruit.
04:45Let's see what's in here. So we've got, there's a lot of milk.
04:49Who has milk? People that make shakes, right?
04:51Okay. Yeah. Well, there's that. There's also like, like I like to have my non-dairy, non-lactose free milk.
04:58Pierre has a lot of food that he loves to eat while on tour because it helps him sing and keep a really good routine.
05:05So right now, I guess there's rice and half an avocado here. That would be his.
05:10You've got your fruit. You've got your fruit juice. One of our guys loves string cheese.
05:15That's our sour guy. He loves it. There's always string cheese in the fridges.
05:19Uh, what's it, what's in the freezer here? Let's see.
05:23Yogurt in the freeze? Oh, that's the, that's the fridge side still?
05:25That's the fridge side. There's yogurt in here? And eggs? Yeah.
05:28Yeah. Oh, I know what I'm having later. That's fun. Lots of protein shakes. Some names are written on here.
05:34Yeah, that's not ours. More fridges. Okay, what have we got here?
05:38A bit of a mess. Yeah, a bit of a mess. Shredded chicken.
05:41That's a sandwich bar, usually. Yeah, sandwich bar. And you can make sandwiches.
05:45Yeah, right. Okay, so another, another. Oh, I forgot about that. It's frozen.
05:50This is completely. God, this fridge has to be. Yeah, you gotta fix this, Seb.
05:55Come on, engineer. Seb is the engineer of the band. Am I?
05:59You are. You always figure it out. Clearly not. I'll figure it out later.
06:03Um, here we've got our grapes in there as well. Some fruit. Some more of this stuff.
06:08We've got some cool stuff in here as well. So yeah, this is the sandwich bar.
06:12It is supposed to be the sandwich bar. Yeah. And it comes in handy on days off.
06:16Because sometimes you might be, this is quite noisy.
06:19Sometimes you might be parked at a mall or almost like at a, at a stop along the highway.
06:25Basically just to spend the day when the drives are too long.
06:27And there's not a lot of healthy options. So you can come on the bus, make yourself a good sandwich.
06:31Maybe a salad, have some fruit. It's very useful to have these things in here.
06:34So let's go upstairs. Let's go upstairs.
06:36It's pretty much the best and coolest feature, most original feature of these buses.
06:44A little bit of storage, but really what it's all about is the first back lounge of bunks.
06:48There's eight bunks in there.
06:57I sleep down here. I'm a bottom bunk kind of guy.
07:00Whether it's a double decker or a North American bus, I'm always on the bottom.
07:03I switched on this door. I prefer it.
07:05You prefer the bottom, huh?
07:06Yeah, I think it's, it shakes less.
07:08So we've got eight bunks, quite small, pretty comfortable though.
07:11So the quality of sleep all depends on the roads or the driver really.
07:15If you slamming on the brakes all the time, you won't sleep that great.
07:18If the roads are Montreal type roads, you won't sleep that great either.
07:22I actually always bring my own pillow.
07:24I think it's important to have that sort of routine sleep.
07:27And for a few tours now, it's kind of funny.
07:30I've been bringing my own weighted blanket.
07:33So that's just very heavy, pins you down.
07:35It's supposed to help you sleep.
07:36I'm not convinced yet, but I'm still using it.
07:39So that's pretty good.
07:40It's too hot. I have to get rid of it.
07:42Well, I mean, we do keep it at 60 degrees on the bus.
07:45So it kind of offsets the double blanket for me.
07:48But yeah, I understand.
07:50So this is my bunk.
07:51I got a shirt, a colorful shirt from last night's show.
07:54I have headphones.
07:56I've got books.
07:58I've been trying really hard not to, in French too.
08:02That's fancy, right?
08:03Because we're French Canadians.
08:05For me, I've been really trying hard not to do the doom scrolling before going to bed.
08:11Because then I get really bad sleep.
08:14So last night, and it's crazy like the difference.
08:18Last night, I did not touch my phone and I read a book.
08:21I had the best night I've had in a week.
08:24Oh, brilliant. Awesome.
08:25Yeah, it really makes a difference.
08:26You know, those blue lights, whatever they tell you, it is a real thing.
08:30It's horrible.
08:31So it's my challenge on this tour.
08:33So it's been good.
08:34And I listen to a bit of music too.
08:36I think it's cool.
08:37I got these really cool headphones that are basically, you know, like you don't have like
08:43a crazy thing on your ear.
08:44You could fall asleep with them.
08:46And some people put noise, like white noise in the background to fall asleep to.
08:51I don't.
08:52I just love to listen to music before I go to bed.
08:54Really light, chill stuff.
08:55So yeah, it's been nice.
08:57So yeah, and my pillow obviously.
09:00I have a really fancy pillow as well.
09:02I think it's nice to have a bit of home with you.
09:05So as you can tell, you can't really stand up upstairs.
09:08Like upstairs, you can't stand up.
09:10But there's like this weird shelf in these buses where when you get undressed at night,
09:14this is where you put all your stuff.
09:16You could put your shoes.
09:17You put your clothes there.
09:18That way when you get up in the morning, you can just grab them, get dressed and get going.
09:22So usually the back area is where the band sleeps.
09:27It's not exclusive to the band because right now we're 16 on the bus.
09:31So every single bunk is full.
09:33I sleep here.
09:34Pierre sleeps here.
09:36Our tour manager sleeps here.
09:37This is Chuck.
09:38This is Jeff.
09:39Lucas.
09:40Lucas.
09:41Other Lucas.
09:42And I don't know, but there's someone there.
09:44That's Frank.
09:45That's Frank.
09:46Awesome.
09:47Yes.
09:48So that's who sleeps in the back here.
09:49Miracles right now.
09:50We have a really small crew for the scope of the shows that we're putting together,
09:54which is pretty, pretty incredible.
09:56But we wanted to have like to keep it to one bus.
10:00And it kind of works out, but it's pretty, I mean.
10:03Yeah, it's amazing.
10:04We're a lot of people on this bus.
10:06A lot of people on this bus, but they are pulling Miracle and a great, great, very professional
10:10crew that's with us.
10:11So, I mean, as you can see, we're short on space here.
10:15So, when we get to the venue, basically Seb and I, we just get out of the bus and we
10:20probably won't get back until like way after the show, after the shower.
10:24And we just sleep here.
10:25You know, we don't spend a lot of times.
10:27But some of our guys, Chuck in particular, will use the front lounge quite a bit.
10:32Let's go check it out.
10:33Let's go check it out.
10:34Oh, yeah.
10:35So, here's a little section for my guitar and my dirty laundry.
10:38Yeah, that's kind of all Jeff.
10:41So, eight more people sleep here in these bunks.
10:46And then you get to the top lounge, which happens to sit on top of the driver.
10:50So, you see the road.
10:52Right now, you see the butt of 303's bus.
10:56But imagine you're up here.
10:58You're still driving.
10:59You won't get to your hotel until noon.
11:01You woke up at 9 for some reason.
11:03You made yourself a delicious coffee.
11:05You're sitting here and you're overlooking the desert.
11:08Like, it's pretty sweet.
11:09I have to say, for some reason, I don't really take advantage of it so much in North America.
11:14But in Europe, I will always come here in the morning and check out like the drives.
11:19Even at night.
11:20Well, for me, I don't really want to walk through if people are sleeping.
11:23Yeah.
11:24So, like I'll end up downstairs mostly, but maybe I should switch bunks.
11:28Maybe I should be like, you, take my bunk.
11:31Again, we are a lot.
11:32Yeah.
11:33Some people, you know, store their bags here and everything.
11:35So, it kind of makes it a little less appealing.
11:38Exactly.
11:39But, you know, it's a cool bus.
11:42This is how little we come up here.
11:43I think we just found a fridge here.
11:45I think, I think, yeah, see?
11:47It's Frank's corner pretty much.
11:49That is obviously Frank's corner.
11:50Our sound guy's corner.
11:51He lives on these things.
11:52That's good.
11:53I guess you could do some gaming.
11:54I see a Switch 2 dock right here.
11:56So, this would be where you play Mario Kart World.
11:58I have done quite a few interviews here on Zoom.
12:02Because you got the beautiful light in your face.
12:04So, you kind of look 10 years younger.
12:05Nice.
12:06Yeah.
12:07That's a trick.
12:08Yeah, I guess you could come up here for work.
12:10You could play some video games.
12:11But, you know, with the amount of people here and the bag storage, it gets hard to chill anywhere on the bus.
12:17Which is why we get off in the morning.
12:19And sometimes we even leave the venue in the morning.
12:21Just go as far as possible to a coffee shop.
12:23It is a pretty sweet bus.
12:24It is.
12:25It's a good bus.
12:26Honestly.
12:27Not that you made me tour it.
12:28Because I've never been to the bus.
12:29You've never been to the front of the bus before.
12:31I've never seen it.
12:32Thanks for the tour though.
12:33Because we're discovering things about the bus.
12:35Yeah.
12:36I hope someone empties this trash once in a while.
12:38Because I don't.
12:40Hey, what's up?
12:41I'm Jeff.
12:42And I'm Sebastian from the band Simple Plan.
12:44And guess what?
12:45We are continuously on tour.
12:47Always on tour buses.
12:48So, check out our tour dates.
12:49You know, we're on Instagram.
12:51TikTok.
12:52Twitter.
12:53No, not Twitter.
12:54It doesn't exist anymore.
12:55X.
12:56It's X.
12:57It's X.
12:58But you can check out our website too.
12:59Yeah, we are everywhere.
13:00OfficialSimplePlan.com.
13:01Thanks for touring the bus with us.
